A local told us about this pub when we stayed in the local area. We popped in for a leisurely pint after a day out and wasn’t disappointed. The beer was spot on and the beer garden is the only place to be when the sun is out. That tree is huge!!! We regret not returning for food.

This is our local pub. It is consistently excellent. A fantastically atmospheric old English pub. Guaranteed warm welcome. Really good food. Good beer and wine. On a Summer’s evening, unbeatable views. It s what a village pub should be.

It must be over 30 years since I last visited this country pub/resturant...There were 4 of us dining today, mixture of Sunday Roast & menu....The atmosphere on entering was so welcoming, and the food was excellent, service and standard...& Alan was the perfect host...The view outside was beautiful, plenty of seating & everyone so friendly...This will certainly be our regular haunt for any family occassions from now on...

Came here for Sunday lunch during the bank holiday weekend. As always the meal, service and location did not disappoint. We both had 3 courses (this time we were determined to sample one of the wonderful desserts on offer) and could not fault a single thing, all were delicious and perfectly portioned. Although we live in Bewdley this is now our go to pub/restaurant as we find that the combination of location, service, value and terrific food just cannot be beaten anywhere else locally.

Our party of four arrived at this pub on a damp evening and were greeted with a warm smile which is always a good sign. Our friends had been many times before and had spoken about Di’s pies. Three of us had starters, two squid and one jalapeño. Then two venison steak and two pies. A large bowl of vegetables accompanied the meal. Just two desserts, profiteroles and cheesecake. The food was delicious and cooked very well. The place wasn’t too busy, so our food came out very promptly. A lovely experience and I know our friends will return, as we were visiting from Essex, I’m sure that when we next stay, we’ll be back. Lovely staff, lovely evening. Well done Di!

As locals we have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. We enjoyed a meal recently with friends and were accommodated last minute, which was much appreciated as everywhere else was booked up. The atmosphere was great and the food even better. Generous portions of home cooked food at very good prices. There is a decent menu choice and aways some great specials, the food is well above your average pub grub. We will definitely be eating again here and I'm glad everywhere else was booked up and there was room for us at The Live!

This is a lovely pub with atmosphere. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The pies were meaty and had flaky pastry. The sea bream was so tender and chips were crunchy. I was able to order off a gluten free menu which was extensive - even the desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was very good. The waitresses were friendly and able to answer questions confidently on the menu. We will definitely be back, the garden looked like a great spot in summer. This place is a real find.

This is one of our favourites pubs as we love all things old worldy. We have visited here over the last year mainly as part of a family group and we have no complaints about the food. However on the odd few occasions that I have dropped in en-route with my 4 legged friend, I have been questioned by the landlord why I've dropped in and I find this quite intrussive as we expect to be treated the same as any other customer and has not been the case when I've visited with my family and friends. So 'live and let live' should perhaps start taking that on board. Itis the 21st century afterall!

Wow 🤩 Here on holiday and decided to try the local village pub for our first evening meal , so pleased we did. The pub it’s self is so beautiful inside and out , so much character. The food itself was really lovely too , the quality of the produce was exceptional, the menu and specials board was so extensive with so many choices , good job we are for a week and can sample some more. Staff friendly and efficient , a pub to be proud of.

Poor variety of both drinks and food. Had a mix grill but have to say I’m not sure what was what. The steak was the smallest steak and that was on the biggest mix grill because apparently they had 1 standard and 1 large mixed grill 🙄. There was something on the plate that I couldn’t describe but was 100% meat of some sort but all tasteless. Best part of the meal was the chips. I’d recommend 1 thing about this place and that’s don’t go.

Sadly after a long wait the food was cold, asked for a different meal and was told no! I think they are brother and sister that run it as they are both as aggressively as each other. Smashing plates around and getting angry with us each time they brought something out. These people do not know what customer service is what so ever, and hated the fact that we criticised the fact that the food was cold. We were made to feel terrible whilst eating the cold meal. Would never EVER use this place again and would never recommend use it either. We wouldn’t have stayed to eat it only for the fact that they told us we had to pay for the cold food also! Awful people

A last minute choice and so we phoned and arrived 30 minutes later. We sat in the beautiful garden enjoying a drink in the warm evening sunshine before our order was taken. We were then invited inside to dine in a wonderful alcove. The starters of prawn cocktail and whitebait were delicious and followed on by a ‘special’ warm potato salad with bacon and Brie. I enjoyed scampi with wonderful home cooked chips. The homemade dessert range is amazing, unable to decide, we shared a posset, tiramisu and Bailey’s bread and butter pudding. Everything was generously portioned and perfectly cooked. My wife described her salad as the best thing she’d eaten in ages, and we eat out quite often- accolade indeed. We then enjoyed coffee on the terrace bathed in the setting sun. A most perfect evening.

All main course meals served on luke warm plates and some meals quite small, Chilli Con Carne too dry and the amount of rice could have been larger (and I am not a big eater ). None of us very impressed ,however the Sticky toffee pudding and Bakewell tart were very good and the cheese plate was also good. Perhaps if (and it is a big IF) we went again I would order the cheese plate folled by thr Sticky toffr pudding and maybe Bakewell tart. About 40 years this was the go-to pub for the 'in crowd' so I'm told. Well, the pub is now a superb blend of old and 'scavenged' materials including the ends of an old 4 poster bed. As for the home cooked food, you couldn't want for a better selection which was cooked to order. I didn't have a pie, but those that did reckon the pastry was very, very good. And with Hobsons bear on draft what more could you ask for. Well done Di.

Lucky for us, we live locally and frequent The Live (as the villagers lovingly refer to it as) regularly. The pub itself is amazing, with it's ornate scuplted wood bar, the stained glass windows and the view from the beer garden over the Clee Hill must easily be the best in Shropshire. There's a great range of drinks - from Oldfields Cider (local and made just up the road), always local Ales on and a staggering specialist Gin collection that rivals most gin bars. The homecooked food is delcious, with a menu which is always supplemented by daily specials. All of Di's homemade pies are out of this world and always come with their own jug of gravy, the Chicken Tikka Massala rivals any curry i've ever eaten and the beer battered fish and chips are a real treat. A proper gem.

Met my sister for Lunch as about half-way. My Jaguar didn't care much for the single file cart-track from Cleobury Mortimer but it was worth it since this is a very special and atmospheric place!!

A traditional country pub serving home cooked lunch and dinner at sensible prices. No TV, pool table or other distractions! Good beer too!

We visited for lunch on Sunday and had a lovely time. Very dog friendly (staff made a lovely fuss of ours); good food and a wonderfully characterful pub.

This is my local; it has always been an outstanding pub - for several decades in the same excellent hands, the new owner has done us proud. Still delicious food, with a good range, as well as the bar area and main dining room off it, there are several little rooms to explore. The immediate impact of the fantastic wood carving above the bar is matched by the old world charm throughout and in summer the gardens are great; the views are right up to Shropshire's finest! Absolutely five stars.

Our walking group contacted Di in advance and she was happy to open the pub for us on Thursday lunchtime. Everyone admired the amazing inside of this out-of -the-way pub and were very happy with the beers on offer (Hobsons, Wye Valley & Bewdley) and delighted with the food - especially the home-made pies. A brilliant place to stop for lunch.

We went for sunday lunch today after the pub was recommended by my sister. It was a lovely olde worlde country pub with a very homely atmosphere. We had to wait a little while for the food but it was worth it. You could tell this food did not come out of a packet. It was all fresh and home cooked. The portions were generous and the choice was varied so all in all a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Had Sunday lunch with husband and grandaughter, Lauren. Althouh the wait was long all the food was home cooked and totally delicious. Di the cook does all the home cooked food from scratch. The desserts were divine too.

Went for the first secret diner club evening that is run by Jess who owns the fab 'not today seitan' in liar liar..what can i say?.the food was on another level. Litrally the best vegan food in Oswestry and way surpasses anything else available in a vegan cafe in Oswestry. The food was beautifully presented, the flavours were amazing and the cocktails were beautiful too. Really hope the owner decides to run these evenings on a regular basis although once word gets around i imagine getting a table will be really difficult. Its great to see a vibrant young business do so well and honestly the co trading with Liar liar is such a brilliant idea. Two amazing businesses running side by side. I cannot recommend this highly enough, the best vegan resturant/cafe in town by far

Great service, incredible price, a vegetarian paradise!! When we arrived the kitchen was just closing but the chef asked us what we were wanting and then accommodated for us 2 fabulous meals. Would 100% recommend to anyone. Lovely decore and perfect music to go with it.

Honestly the best pub meal I've had in years! The steak and Guinness pie was delicious and chips better than many chippies. How they do that with bargain prices baffles me. Highly recommend

Very very disappointing...we booked for Sunday lunch..big mistake. We were not greeted on arrival, there wasn't even anyone behind the bar for us to let them know we had arrived.... But from there it went downhill....we were put on the smallest table in the furthest corner despite there being lots of much nicer empty tables available..we eventually managed to order drinks and asked to order food..The waitress mumbled something and walked off....a lovely young man delivered our drinks and said the young lady would be back.....when she returned to take our food order we asked what she had said, apparently it was they had lamb....then we tried to order but what she actually meant was they only had lamb nothing else and mostly no veg either...one of our party doesnt eat red meat so lamb wasnt an option but the waitress did nothing to try to help the problem...no offer to check if the kitchen could help.....I really could understand this situation if we were walk ins but we had booked...they knew we were coming....why would you not attempt to provide at least one other choice We drove to Bridgnorth from Shrewsbury to take some family out for a treat and thats the best they could offer....obviously we will not return.
