A nice location if you are looking for some for a drink and a snack. The service is reasonable but the inside can be quite cramped if they are busy. Outside has some seats but somewhat limited. Food reasonable and not too expensive.

A Café that is set back on the grass and offers a quieter café dining experience. Traditional cooked meals and, breakfasts and lunches. Nothing fancy just home cooking to be eaten indoors or outdoors.

We were looking for somewhere along the sea front that didn't charge an arm and a leg for a tea and a coffee.....Most places wanted £2+ for drinks served in naff paper cups....until we came across this place! We paid £1 for a tea and £1 for a coffee, both in proper mugs which we returned afterwards....superb! And no paper cup wastage either! Would definitely visit again and try the food next time too.

Our sandwiches were freshly prepared and hit the spot. Just right. Our coffees were hot and complimented our sandwiches. We would go back to this cafe. It was spotless. It is frequented by regulars who are local. Speak as you find. We were pleased.

Freshly prepared salad , well presented and tasty. Sausage and egg sandwich freshly cooked. Washed down with 2 mugs of tea whilst sat on the lawn out front. Great little cafe, friendly service, seating and tables out front. Place your order, pay cash, find a table and wait to be called. Limited in door seating available but a great spot on a summer day at great prices. Look for the yellow cafe flag.

I would not step foot in this cafe again. I stood in the line for about ten minutes then was made to feel like I was wasting their time. I just wanted to order some tea and cakes for my family of four, but they acted like I was wasting their time and it wasn't worth their bother for that amount of money. It's a cafe not a restaurant! The sight of the greasy fry ups made me feel a bit sick whilst stood in the stuffy cafe waiting my turn. I don't understand why you would choose to work with the general public if you have no customer service skills at all. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere (anywhere) nicer.

Really disappointed. Walked over from the aquarium for a sandwich and a cake. We weren't made to feel particularly welcome and when I realised I only had enough cash for two pieces of cake (they don't take cards and I don't really carry cash!), they weren't very happy and looked at me like I was an idiot. I decided give a happy thank you when I left in case it was just my mistake, but I just got a grunt in return. I'm so disappointed. Contrastly I'm now having a panini in the Blue Reef cafe and the man behind the counter is very happy and smiley!!

Stopped for tea and cake at this lovely little place yesterday. The ladies were working hard as usual preparing for the Victorious Festival yet still they find time to be friendly and offer their normal good service. I have been stopping here for many years now and nothing is ever too much trouble so when browsing through the reviews i found it rather 'sad' that someone had insinuated they may of been racist(?).......you couldn't meet nicer people and that statement is very unjust......guess they wont be stopping for any more 'real bad' cake again then....all the more for me!!!

I'm sorry , but I do not understand the previous ratings for this café. When we visited the food was nothing special, just ordinary fare, you got what you paid for, nothing more. As one person said, 'you get a lovely cup of tea, unlike at Jamie Oliver', well if a stained mug of stewed tea is to your liking for £1, I suppose OK.

Great service and well cooked food and very good value for money, without a doubt the best '' full English breakfast '' I have had in Southsea, non greasy and at a very good price - no other cafe in the area comes close to this standard. A lovely place to eat as there is ample space in the outside lawned eating area, even during busy times the high standards of service and food quality is maintained by the experienced and friendly staff.

I regularly eat at this fantastic café. The service is great from start to finish and it is spotless on every visit. The ladies take pride in the appearance of the building and keep it looking fresh. A good spot for simply a cup of tea and a snack or a full meal. I'll be heading over when I am at Victorious Festival soon!

Didn't want to eat breakfast in our hotel as we knew we would find a nice little place to eat somewhere along the front, and we certainly did. A wonderful breakfast, 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, 2 eggs and either beans or tomatoes plus fad and butter or toast. All for £4.40. Spotlessly clean, has won awards, friendly ladies doing all the cooking. They also do lunches, sandwiches and snacks along with a nice cup of tea. Only 3 tables indoors but we were lucky, the weather was fine so we ate outdoors...plenty of tables and seating outside.

Yes, it is a Tea House but that is only the beginning of the story. On the wall inside is a long list of drinks both hot and cold together with several lists offering a huge range of sandwiches, jacket potatoes and various combinations with chips plus the ubiquitous all day breakfast. When you see the size of the kitchen it makes the offered fare presented by the ever cheerful staff even more impressive. Whilst the style of a traditional seaside building such as this is unchanged over the years they really do cater for all tastes and the quality and value is very high. Not directly on the sea front but it is only a few minute walk away and it is very near to street and car park parking (at a charge). In season it seems to be always open and on a sunny day there is little better than sitting on the front lawn (there is also limited seating inside) with views of the gardens and nearby volleyball court. Oh, and did I mention outside the views of The Sherman Tank and The Anti Aircraft Gun ! ( It is adjacent to the D-Day Museum )

Popped in for a coffee at this little place on Southsea Common near the D Day Museum. What a little gem!. A delicious mug of coffee or tea for a quid - and no extra for decaff - none of yer old Jamie Oliver rip off rubbish at nearly £3 for a thimbleful. The ladies are pleasant, polite and chatty. Looking at the menu, there was something to suit all tastes. Unfortunately I had already eaten at Capers (see review) but these ladies say they can do a fry-up in 5 minutes. Seating area with shade for those who like it with good disabled access and an enclosed safe area for little ones. Know where I'll be going next time.

We used to visit this place very often especially when down to commercial road for a shopping. The food is always delicious and we really enjoy their jacket potatoes - big and rich of flavours. The service is great. There could be queues sometimes, be aware of that. Prices are ok.

Visited this pub and stayed about 2 years ago, lovely rooms, great pub, cosy & inviting, great atmosphere and food. Visited pub this Easter weekend, well I was shocked! I assume changed hands as now run down and empty considering 8.30pm on Saturday evening. Not sure what it's meant to be but certainly didn't feel like a pub, more like a cross between a village hall and an Indian restaurant when you look at furniture. Place full of tables set for diners with mismatch metal chairs garden furniture and high back chairs from a restaurant, no comfortable sitting at all. Felt awkward sitting there for the 1 drink we had and they were already clearing bar to close for the night. Cold and clinical lighting and I won't mention the toilets! Disappointed visit and sad that the pub has lost its charm. Won't be visiting again plenty of other lovely pubs just a few 100 yards away.

Gilley’s Diner in Portsmouth, NH, is a hidden gem for anyone looking for classic diner food in a charming, nostalgic setting. My wife and I stopped by for a quick bite and were impressed by the experience. She ordered a hot dog with fries, and I opted for a double cheeseburger with fries. Both were served within 5 minutes, hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Despite the small menu, the food is top-notch for diner fare, and the friendly service adds to the experience. The diner itself is small and quaint, with only six seats, but the charm of this old food truck-turned-diner more than makes up for it. The service was fantastic—there's only one person running the place, and she handled everything seamlessly. If I lived in the area, I'd be here at least once a month. Highly recommend for anyone craving a quick, delicious meal in a cozy, old-school diner atmosphere.

Pub real, gente estupenda, gran personal, mucha diversión. Reglas simples durante Covid, firmar en la puerta con el número de la mafia, lavarse las manos, ordenar, sentarse, ¡la cerveza llega en segundos! Incluso fuera de un gran pub.

What a lovely place! Right on the sea front with amazing views. Due to the pending Storm Ashley, the el fresco terrace was out of bounds. Such a shame it's a total suntrap! A A great atmosphere and the staff were chilled, happy, and efficient. There's a great choice of food on the menu, and not just 'sea-side' food. We had the small bites. The decor is spot on and trendy. You can even hire it out for private functions! Oh, and all the great varieties of bread are baked in-house.
