The Little Place... Next Door in Shepway

We were cycling on a busy, sunny Saturday and came across this delightful cafe. The staff were warm and welcoming and offered us a secure place to park the bikes so that we could go inside to escape the sun (although there is also outside seating.) There is a good range of all day breakfast and lunch items, all of which are cooked fresh and our avocado, feta and egg on toast was perfect. Lovely coffee and cakes too!

We had a lovely afternoon tea at The little place next door today! We were looking for somewhere we could grab a quick bite to eat while passing through folkestone and this place did not disappoint. Afternoon tea included a sandwich, scone, slice of cake and a tea/coffee each. Very reasonably priced and the food was lovely! Staff were so friendly and even gave us some takeaway boxes for our cake when we were too stuffed to finish! The place itself is so aesthetically pleasing, with beautiful messages written around the place, as well as deals and menu items. We will definitely be going back again! Big thankyou to our waitress and cook, couldn't have asked for better service!

I was very disappointed in our breakfast considering the glowing reviews on here. The sausages were cremated and the bacon was borderline underdone. Mushrooms / potato rosti were overly oily and had that old greasy oil taste. Took quite a while to come too. I won't be returning.

Great little place very friendly vegan and veggie options. Excelllent choice of brunch and lovely poached eggs with feta.

Excellent brunch in a 5* decor eating establishment in the heart of Folkestone! The full English breakfast was cooked perfectly and there was a wide choice. Ideal as they offered a small breakfast and deals with hot drinks, which was nice if you didn't want the portion of the larger breakfasts (this makes a change from most brunch cafes!). I'd definitely return to this friendly, cosy cafe to try the sweets and lunches. The upstairs area is pretty, arty and great for private groups or family parties.

We eat here so often that we feel like part of the furniture. The staff are so friendly that they feel like family. The food is second to non.

Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff. I had avocado and feta with poached eggs on toast. Would definitely recommend. They do gluten free toast but a full English would be improved with gluten free sausages which are easy to get hold of.

What a little gem “The Little Place Next Door” is. It’s a small cafe/restaurant with a pleasant extra room upstairs. The kitchen too is quite small but the chef manages admirably. We (a group of four) suddenly decided to go out for a Sunday roast at about 21:15 pm. The Little Place Next Door accepted our telephone booking and gave us a time when a table would be free. The staff were welcoming and our table was ready for us on arrival. There was a reasonable wait for our meals but as they were prepared to order, it was worth the wait. Although they had run out of desserts as it was later in the afternoon, the chef offered to make them fresh for us and they, along with the main courses, were delicious. I have to give a special mention to our young waitress, Sinead. She seemed a little unsure of herself when we arrived, but soon gained her confidence and was not only efficient but great fun too. I recognised a kindred spirit when she agreed that roast dinners should be accompanied by lashings of gravy but feel her life would be improved if only she could bring herself to like custard. Thank you Sinead for being a good sport.

We stayed at a property just along Cheriton Place and had seen what we thought was a good place to eat.......we were absolutely right!! The Traditional Breakfast on both days (so good we went back) was quality.....great sausages delicious eggs and my wife said her Porridge with Banana & Honey was wonderful!! Great service at a reasonable price with quality ingredients!!

We were a family of 7 that turned up pre booked for food . We were shown to our table, this was the only good part of the review. It was not busy in the cafe and it took 30 minutes just to get our drinks ,being bought to us 2 at a time. We then ordered food ,this took another hour to arrive ,2 breakfasts, 3 bacon baps ,1 chips and 1 round of toast and jam . All the cooked food turned up and it took another 5-6 mins for 2 slices of toast to arrive . Will not be eating here again or recommending it

My friend and I each had an excellent vegetarian breakfast today at this great cafe in Folkestone. We had the standard size and it was perfect for us along with toast and 2 mugs of tea. Fantastic. We’ll be back

Popped in for breakfast, absolutely delicious. Wonderful service, everything cooked fresh. Requested crispy bacon with my muffins and eggs and that's what I got. Will definitely give it a visit when we're next in Folkestone

I always come here for breakfast as there is such choice and everything is beautifully done. You get a discount coffee with breakfast but the breakfasts come with nice touches like Rosti potato and Cherry vine tomatoes. Altogether a most pleasant experience and highly recommended.

We visited here 28/08/22- we sat outside wasn’t acknowledged at all, parter went in and said what do we do, told they come to table- took order after he went in again- waited another 20 mins/ a group sat next to us was told they would take there order- our order came out with consisted of a coke and 2 latte Coffees- one coffee was so dark it looked like an espresso parter mention this to the waitress and she talked at him so rudely stating it’s a double shot the same of the other one- he said look at the colour she took the coffee and when off in between this our food then arrived- we ordered a sausage and egg and bacon baguette and bacon sandwich- Anyways I was like let not mention the sausage, Anyway they finished there food and then appeared my coffee we been sat there nearly 50 mins by this time- the group of people that sat next to us then tried to order food- They were spoken to so badly that I was actually Embarrassed for them- they were told to sit On the benches outside and this rude girl said, That’s not Ours and we are busy so breakfast Finishes at 12- it was 11.40 - She then went on to say to them that we really busy and basically we don’t want your custom- I went in to pay and used the toilet I was totally shocked where the till was literally a cupboard hole right next to the toilet- and the toilet let was covered in black mould- I think environmental health should be made aware. Terrible service from a terrible place avoid

I am not a fussy eater and i couldn't finish my roast it was obvious it was warmed up in the microwave, everything was bland even the crackling with my pork. Nothing was seasoned and the dinner was only warm. I honestly felt like telling the people who entered when we were leaving to not bother. Save your money.

I had a standard breakfast and the quality of all the items was fine, the issue was that it was sadly all cold. The beans were slightly south of lukewarm and inedible. Of the sausages one was barely reaching acceptable temperature and the other wasn't....

My partner and I have eaten here a few times now and each time has been perfect! Both the vegetarian and meat breakfasts are very flavoursome and always cooked brilliantly, and the hot chocolate and coffees are always smooth and creamy. We will definitely return...

An adorable and incredibly quaint little cafe. We visited for breakfast and everything was delicious. They only have one chef so don’t expect your food within 5 minutes as everything is cooked fresh. Very reasonable prices and friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Visited on a sunny day in June for a breakfast. It was excellent, all fresh, thick bacon, excellent sausage, fantastic hone made rosti, young girl whom served us done a great job. We will defiantly be back as working around the corner.

Amazing roast dinner delivered on Mothers day. Yes you may have to put it in the oven for 10 mins if you want it hot hot however it comes in foil trays which makes this very easy and no washing up. Beef roast was amazing...

We found this cafe by chance , and wow were we thrilled with the lunch we had . Smoked salmon with creme fraich and poached eggs, on top of muffins with a side salad garnish . Beautifully cooked and presented. Good coffee as well ....

A dog friendly cafe, which was a lovely surprise - we don't have a dog at the moment but enjoyed the canine company that was there and when we do have another dog will take her/him here. The vegan breakfast was fabulous - generous and tasty - and the tea nice and strong and hot, with different plant milks available. The waffles looked brilliant and were reported to be delicious, as was the vegetarian breakfast - so generous there was some, a little, left over. The only potential criticism was the music playing - it wasn't needed and was overwhelming in an already busy, noisy environment - it was barely properly discernible amid the noise other than as an extra chaotic layer of sound and added nothing to the experience apart from annoyance, imho. It almost made it too uncomfortable to stay. But apart from that a really lovely place. Really highly recommended and due a re-visit, especially if the music goes....

My partner and I have been coming here pretty much since it opened (we even had our first date here!). We will rarely go anywhere else; it's 100% the best place to get breakfast/lunch in Folkestone. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans which is awesome. Staff are always lovely. Not too pricey. Great milkshakes. We always look forward to eating here. ❤️

Went there because our hotel had poor breakfast. My partner and I went there on Monday 11ish am without booking, we we're meant to wait 10min but only waited 5 as customers were finishing their food. We booked the table before we went next time just in case.The place is small with upstairs and outdoor seating but the decors made it cozy and friendly. Immediately you see different currencies on the wall and some world maps upstairs making you feel welcome wherever you're from. Lovely Natalie and her staff lead us to our table and took our orders. We ordered traditional breakfast and waffles, both were so tasty and delicious. Instead of hashbrowns you get a wonderful crunchy potatoes with onion mixture. The waffles were sweet with bananas, nutella, etc. It was definitely worth it.Very friendly with delicious selections of food. We highly recommend this little place..

Went today too celebrate my birthday and for brunch. What a diamond of a place to eat and be treated so well . This place is a real gem - just like their legendary sandwich shop nextdoor. They have some relatively unusual (for Folkestone) healthy breakfast options, which are absolutely delicious. Hilarious to see local builders being tempted away from their usual full-English, in favour of smashed avocado and tomato on toast. Lovely friendly service is a real treat.

I rarely eat out but could easily become a regular at this eatery. Calling it a cafe would be selling it short as it's a bona fide bijou restaurant, good for delicious meals or simply coffee and cake. Good food and good service in a very friendly establishment.

Am vegan and am very used to struggling when eating out - but this place was fantastic - very friendly response when I asked - had a choice of cakes - in fact struggled to choose! And the chocolate tart and ice cream I had was delicious. The rest of the menu looks equally good. Really recommend.

This cafe was an excellent find. The pulled pork burger (with Cajun chips) was outstanding, the best I have ever had, I would say. The staff were friendly and efficient, the background music was interesting and well balanced, I can't fault it.

Found this magnificent little restaurant on a Sunday morning before attending the beautiful Remembrance day service and what a find. My partner and myself both had the most wonderful full English breakfast accompanied by two great coffees the ingredients used were top notch including the bread used for the toast and the superb home made potato rossti. To top it off the ladies who served us were the most friendly and helpful people you could wish to meet. Every time we visit Folkestone from now on we will visit this delightful Little place.

What more can you ask for?I had to cut certain foods out of my diet for a 2 month period this year. This is the only place that catered for my needs. Natalie, the owner, took time to listen and created another plate of delicious food I was able to enjoy. Great choice of food for everyone, including vegetarian and vegans. Great value for money. Highly recommend a visit. I am looking forward to my next one.

Visited today for a drink and cake . I had one of the best flat whites in ages along with gorgeous orange sponge cake with chocolate topping. Service was very good and prices are reasonable.

We visited for brunch today and enjoyed the most amazing food and service. My partner had the smashed avocado on toast with feta and a poached egg and I had the full English. The food was really nicely presented and so tasty. We had two fruit smoothies which were served in very cool jars and were delicious. All of the staff were polite and friendly and our waitress was really efficient and engaging. We were impressed with the extensive menu and the veggie and vegan options. The restaurant has some funky little design features like the typewriter on the wall. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be returning to sample the Sunday roast and afternoon tea.

I've been here 3 times since moving to Folkestone only 3 weeks ago. The owner, Natalie, is so friendly and the menu of vegan and vegetarian options as well as non-veg is terrific. I had the vegan all day breakfast and all I can say is it is amazing. Highly recommend and a real gem find in Folkestone....thank you!

This little place is AMAZING! Beautiful food , So Vegan friendly and a really lovely atmosphere. I cannot fault this place. I felt so healthy and refreshed after visiting and eating here. I am a Vegan and the food and drink was so yummy .I am in a mobility scooter and at the time of our visit it was quiet but the chef came through and made sure i could get in ok. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made very welcome.A fantastic little gem of a place to eat . They have an upstairs seating area too so ideal for a get together with friends. Well done to you all that own and run it .

We spent a week in Folkestone in a self-catering flat. On the days we wanted a cooked breakfast, we went to The Little Place. After our first visit, we looked no further. It is a great place for vegetarians or vegans. It is literally a ‘little place’, but there are dining areas on two floors. We found it cozy and friendly. There are nice touches, such as newspapers and phone chargers. The staff are very welcoming and friendly (especially for Kent) and the prices are very good value. We would certainly return.

Recently had breakfast in this small, intimate café. What a hidden little gem this is. Fantastic food (thank you Rose), a great selection on the menu (including veggie) and a very extensive drinks menu. You won't be disappointed with this place.Great to support small local businesses.

I’m not a vegan but often choose the vegetarian/vegan option. This breakfast was to die for! I chose the vegan option which consisted of avocado on toast, tomatoes, hash browns, beans, spinach and the most delicious mushrooms I e ever tasted. I might add my partner had the traditional breakfast and said it was just as delicious. Lovely place, friendly staff. A little gem and highly recommended especially if you’re looking for lots of vegan/vegetarian choices.

Lunch with my signature dish of pulled pork and salad with Cajun fries was, as usual, excellent. Followed by ice-cream (topped with caramel) and coffee has made my summer!

My mum and I stopped off for a bite to eat, we really didn’t know what to choose from on the menu as so many dishes sounded amazing, but we both opted for the Poached eggs on muffin with mushroom, spinach and hollandaise! Such a gem that we've found and dangerously close to where we live! Popped in for a late breakfast and couldn't believe i'd walked past the place before. It's a really sweet place and staff are very polite- really good value too. The breakfasts we ordered (veggie brekkie and poached eggs on toast w/avocado) were great, and the staff were totally happy to change the dishes to how we wanted. Also gave me some ideas for at home, had never thought to add feta and honey to the poached eggs & avocado toast! I'm sure we'll be back regularly.

Had the 'burger style' pulled pork without the bun and cheese which was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed the retro music! This is definitely a hidden gem in Folkestone, so enjoy it too.

A few hundred yards from our hotel on the sea front, this was a tasty well presented breakfast, with a most friendly team. If you want a yummy breakfast in Folkestone , don't go anywhere else.

First visit today. Decided to try it after noticing it mentioned several times in a Facebook post on the We Love Folkestone page asking about good places to eat breakfast in Folkestone. My husband has the traditional breakfast, I went for the avocado on toast with poached eggs, feta and sriracha sauce and my daughter had an egg mayonnaise baguette. All delicious. Will certainly return.

4 adults + 1 dog for lunch and could not have been better. Light meals, nice staff and as per earlier reviews simply spot on.

Just a short visit but we were delighted to discover this place with its unusual snacks. The sweet potato with bacon and buckwheat (special request) was superb. Very tasty cake (GF carrot) for afters hit the spot. Eaten with a latte made from Kent coffee beans it went down a treat. Recommended by gourmands!

A very sweet little place tucked in to the out skirts of Folkestone Town centre. It has a very artisan feel to it, and a quirky style. I ordered the full English and it was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be coming back here again!
