This lovely restaurant was the perfect location to The Leas Cliff Hall and myself and my parents were made to feel very welcome by the amazing staff yesterday. Special thanks go to Jim and Kayleigh who replied to my E mails regarding certain dishes and remembered us as we arrived for our sitting. A very welcome personal touch. Disappointing Potatoes as very hard and unfortunately affected a filling for my husband so he was in pain and could not eat most of the meal. My lamb was very nice and the small portion for my mum went down well. Far to quick on arrival to ask for what drinks we wanted and came back again too soon for us as well so we ended up ordering lemonade all round. Left us a bit longer we might have ordered alcohol and would have got more money out of us. Nice cosy venue

Been here 3 times for a Sunday roast food is really good. Between us we all had a pork belly, a chicken, a beef and a lamb roast and everyone couldn’t say enough good things about it. Deserts were also top notch The venue itself is very rustic and rough around the edges and may not be to everyone’s taste (especially the bathroom) and the seating area downstairs is access via a very narrow spiral stairs case so not suitable for people with limited mobility. Overall the food is really good and staff and really friendly and would highly recommend for a good Sunday roast. Make sure to book ahead as they are always busy.

We were seven people, and five of us had the meat pie - which was very much relished and praised alongside a portion of mussels and The Green Burger! The Bouverie Tap offers a lovely, rustic atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, and the quality-price-ratio is fantastic! The perfect place to take a bunch of friends, enjoy good food and have a giggle!

We visited today 31/3/24 great little rustic place to eat and drink where the food is cooked to perfection with lovely attentive staff, we were a party of 5 and had 3 roast beef and 2 lamb plus desserts and drinks all the food came out at the same time, not like some places and a great choice of drinks it's not over priced nor cheap but you do get what you pay for we have been here several times and will keep going back, the management should be proud of their staff, a BIG thank you to The Bouverie Tap.

Great venue for an evening gathering. Good buffet and service was very good too. The venue has a basement room whichbcan be used for private hire.

My third visit, this time for Sunday lunch. Excellent roasts, one of my daughters had lamb and I had beef. The other daughter had the burger which she rated highly ( she’s a burger connoisseur!). Generous portions, all very tasty. We couldn’t manage a dessert.The service is always friendly and welcoming. This is my go-to place to eat in Folkestone.

We had a concert at Leas Cliffe Hall and it was convnient to eat here and walk down to the concert. On top of it the Food was really good..nice selection of beers and gin..service attentitive We'll be back!

Fabulous food and atmosphere. This was recommended to me as having the best mussels in Folkestone and I was not disappointed. Mussels in spicy tomato sauce was great, as were the salt and peppered squid. I would highly recommend this boutique restaurant.

There was a large group already seated, but they quicky took our order and sneak our order through before. Nice touch. Food was exceptional and staff were good fun, professional and attentive. Great place.

An amazing little find en route home from France to Worcestershire. Wonderful service and incredible food. Thoroughly enjoyable. Pleasing a family of 5 including a vegetarian.

First visit. Food amazing scotch bonnet chicken wings are as hot as advertised! Plenty of biscuits for furry guests, and well kept pale ales, see you again soon!

Just popped in for a drink although they were very busy they let use a reserved table on the condition we we left by a certain time which gave us plenty of time to enjoy our drinks.

Great pub eaten here twice including a Christmas meal with a large group. Food was excellent, staff very friendly and also welcome dogs.

When for Xmas meal with family and it had to be the worst pub meal ive ever eaten. The spuds had been reheated, gravy was like water and the rest of the 3 course meal was just as bad. I was a local but I’m not sure I’ll ever go in again. What a shame and a waste of money A local

We had lunch at the bouverie tap today. The food was superb and great value given the quality. The service was super friendly too. A wide range of drinks on offer. A genuinely lovely place, highly recommend.

Nice pub with great choice of beers and a really specialism in gins. £6.50 for a specialty gin and tonic is pretty good. Bar area was a bit cramped

Best pork belly roast I have ever had. Lovely service and very good music!

We would not be able to review the food as we were not even approached by the wait staff the entire time we were there. We went inside and sat at a table and ultimately my husband went to the bar and ordered beers. One waitress entered the dining area many times and never once approached our table to see if we wanted food so we left and went around the corner to Radnor Arms where we were greeted nicely. In my opinion 2 stars is generous.

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch. All the staff were really friendly and the service was quick and they were really busy. The food was fabulous. Lovely vegetables and the roast pork was amazing. An absolute pleasure to have such a great experience

Our daughter recommended the Bouverie Tap as an ideal place to eat and drink before going to a show at the Leas Cliff Hall. The staff were friendly and helpful and were happy for us to take our time in ordering our meal as we had plenty of time. There were an interesting choice of beers and also several Kentish gins. Our food arrived fairly quickly after ordering and was delicious and fresh. The decor was extremely interesting, so there was plenty to look at while we were there. We would definitely recommend it to others.

Love the rustic atmosphere, food is of high quality and reasonably priced, so are the drinks, very attentive, friendly staff, all in all a place to keep in mind and well worth a regular visit! Thank you!

Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere and good food. I visited with my partner and we had a homemade pie with vegetables and potatoes, which was a blessing as it was pouring down outside! We also had a local craft ale, delicious as well! My partner had a sticky toffee pudding (reeeeally nice) and I ordered a cheesecake, which was a bit disappointing because there were random chocolate chips in it.

We were a bunch of (older) girlies meeting for lunch on a dreary rainy Saturday afternoon. In many ways the perfect local pub spot. Its not high end dining but honest, reasonably priced pub grub. Lamb shank with gravy and mash, burgers etc Haven't seen such a reasonably priced drinks list like this in a long while. Great attentive service by Hayley and Kirsten - not in your face but genuinely friendly. Next time its wintry - lock yourself in there with some friends or a good book

Our first visit despite having been going to Folkestone every week and we will definitely be going back as the beers are excellent and the food (which is traditional pub food) was also excellent and very good value. We both had pie of the day which was pulled pork and it was great. The Mrs couldn't eat all hers as she doesn't eat that much and the pie was large so I had 1.25 meals and was full to bursting which would not have been a pleasant sight if I had actually burst.

First stop after a full day of traveling from Detroit MI/USA and checking into our AirBnB … a perfect intro to the friendly Folkstone community. Jim was warm & welcoming and his recommendations of the gorgeous handmade meat pie (steak & mushroom) with mash & savory gravy for me and a pot of steaming, tender mussels in white wine sauce + frites for my husband hit the spot. Fellow patrons were friendly and offered suggestions on things to see and do in the region during our month-long stay. Jim invited us back for their Sunday lunch … we have our place reserved but may not wait that long for our next visit. Hoping to snag a sit & sip at their 4-stool bar on our return. Don’t miss this place!

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Upon arrival was met with gawks, stares and being laughed at. So despite being starving hungry we decided to take our business elsewhere… Would not recommend this to anyone. Made a visitor of the town feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

We were warmly welcomed in by staff and locals. Perhaps our dog more so than us, but that’s not a bad thing! He was offered a biscuit before we’d even ordered our drinks. Good selection of beers, some interesting local gins and wines. Food was excellent, service was superb and friendly. Can’t fault the place and will pop in next time we’re Chunneling under the Channel!

Alfie was treated like a wee king, rain could not come down any heavier outside. Wee fella was soaked heloved the sausages. A real dog friendly place and we know how to find it again.

Deceptive from the exterior, - you think this is just a local alehouse, which it is - yet it is so much more. Rustic and full of character, the atmosphere is friendly and a place that you feel comfortable in and want to remain in. On top of that, the food quality and cuisine and service are all superlative and superior to any of the outwardly fancy-shmancy outlets one finds. The chef is likewise top-notch; the wine and cream sauce on the mussels so good you want to drink it to the last drop. The beef in the burger of the highest quality. No Question: when we come back, there is only one place to go.

A great experience of an interesting and friendly tap room with good food. Kayleigh and Alice were helpful and very friendly. Menu choices were a bit restricted due to a busy Bank Holiday the previous day. However, our meals were well cooked and presented, and were generous servings. A refreshing change from a traditional pub with a warm welcome for all, especially dogs!

We had the beer battered fish and chips and we have very high standards been from the seaside up North. These were the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten and the service was extremely friendly and efficient, especially the young girl that served us. Thanks for a lovely meal, we’ll be back

If you’re near Folkestone please go here! They have a fantastic juicy burger and the meal is complete with the amazing crispy chips. It was one of the best burgers I have ever had! Will definitely come back when I am near Folkestone.

We walked in and was instantly greeted with a friendly waitress and found us a table without prior booking! We ordered our food, and it took about half an hour to arrive but the food was so worth the wait! Everything was cooked to perfection and we had food envy from other people's dishes - we want to try everything on the menu!! Thank you so much for an amazing evening - would definitely recommend!

Came across this gem on an overnight stop in Folkestone. What every local pub serving food should be. Excellent local beers, delicious, unpretentious, homemade, food, great service. My husband was a fan of the homemade veggie pie. The old signs and adverts from classic British brands and war effort public info posters help make the atmosphere. The staff were lovely with my 7 year old lad. A lesson in how to do good beer and good food at reasonable prices for locals and visitors. Thanks again guys!

Fabulous quirky pub with food or restaurant with pub! Great range of local real ale beers and continental lagers. Proper good food with specials. Buzzy atmosphere and memorabilia decor. Love it.

Friendly staff good food love the rustic quirkyness of the place. Only slight issue was time waiting for the food but was worth the wait as green chilli burger was tender, juicy and flavoursome and the fries were spot on. My wife had the chicken Ceaser Salad and that was good especially the anchovies. All in all if was back in Folkestone would visit again

Big portions of delicious food! Squid for starter was great, fish and chips for main and cheese cake for desert - all delicious. Staff were really helpful and attentive, can’t fault it.

Was in Folkestone for the day and found this little gem of a pub restaurant online . Micro pub one side dinner tables the other side . I phoned and they fitted us in. Reception and staff was spot on. Easy to order homemade english...

A lovely bank holiday Monday drink. The pub has many vintage war signs and lots of places to sit, within the pub there are two different spaces. A smaller one with the bar and a large space which accommodates large and small tables. There is also a couple of good tables to watch the world go by. One particular barmaid was super friendly, ive forgotten her name?! She made us feel very welcome! She talked me through the different types of gins of which they have many! I settled on a new one to the pub called Hastings raspberry, yummy! My freind had a Savingon and she was really happy with it. They have lots of differeht choices including an abundance of on tap ales. We are both really hard to please, but were very happy with our drinks and the happy bar maid, really made ut a great place to go! You could pop in either with freinds of by yourself.
