Nasty. Everything was soaked in oil and trying too hard to be different. I now know why I haven’t eaten smoked haddock in batter before, because it doesn’t work and never will. The lemon chunks (in the burger) didn’t help either, a very confused kettle of fish.

This doughnut should be illegal. Seriously. I never knew love like this before... with a doughnut. Great service and tasty bites. Yummy.

First time at Portobello and liked the look of this little place. Really well presented, looks clean and appealing. Decided to try the oysters. I've only had cheap supermarket oysters in the past, and never enjoyed them. Went for the Green Tomato Kosho. They were absolutely stunning. Really well presented, a good size and not bad value at 3 with dressing for £6. Tasted delicious. So fresh. And the Green Tomato Kosho dressing was genius. Beautiful. Highly recommend to anyone. Service was quick and the guys were really friendly and helpful.

On a day trip to Porty Beach I saw TLCR “pop up” selling Cod Tacos. Having then mentioned it all morning my husband bought them for me for lunch, they tasted absolutely stunning, beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients. Portion size was small and expensive and not very filling. As a one off they were nice but I wouldn’t purchase again.

We think TLC is one of Edinburgh's finest restaurants and had to try the new outlet on the promenade at Portobello. We had spicy cured trout with shrimp rice - outstanding creation and taste. So good to taste this type of cooking during lockdown. Our portions were filling and good value for money.

Bought a hot chocolate here on Sunday past. There were 2 urns in front of the staĺl. The person serving in front of the counter took a ladle and scooped some hot hocolate into a small disposable cup, put 2 large marshallows on top and then used a small blow torch to melt the marshmallows at a cost of £3.50. Tasted vile went in the bin. I'm usually pretty vocal but the queues at the food places were too long that day.

I’ve started eating here once a week whilst working from home. Amazing and simple dishes. I look forward to it every week. The BBQ cod is stunning, shiitake mushrooms are awesome, I love this place.

Just had a really tasty aubergine flatbread for lunch. What a lovely surprise! Sat on the little table opposite, great to get fresh air and good food at lunchtime. Keep up the good work! 😀

We stumbled across this stall outpost – that's all it is – of The Little Chartroom in Edinburgh's Leith Walk. You can find it on Portobello Prom right beside the amusement arcade near Tower Bank Primary School. Set up in July 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience outstanding street food without having to worry too much. We've already been twice. So far, we've had a delicious flat mushroom taco, a squid and anchovy flatbread with pickled lemon, and fish finger rolls. For the last, banish all thoughts of Birds Eye: this was glorious fresh-fried cod (I think, big flakes) in batter, served in a roll with homemade tartare sauce. We've also shared a wonderful chocolate & mandarin mousse with topped with chocolate soil. Just written like that, it doesn't sound so much, but trust me, the food tastes just wonderful. And these guys are welcoming, so the entire experience will put a smile on anyone's face during these dark times. We're in danger of becoming regulars. The music playlist is pretty damn good, too. In fact, the whole concept of serving top restaurant food from a stall is genius, because it brings fantastic food within the price range of ordinary folk. Others should try it.

Chris y Hazel

I used to frequent Cafe Truva at the shore a number of years ago and was looking forward to visiting their Lady Lawson street branch on a visit to town. What a disappointment! The ‘panini spice’ that I used to love was a delicious mix of spiced chicken, mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes served with a lovely Turkish-salad meze. Unfortunately there must be profit margins to protect here and the quality of product has been compromised beyond all recognition...bland strips of processed chicken, one piece of sun dried tomato all cooked without seemingly much care. The side salad used to be a real treat served with feta cheese, stuffed vine leaves, tzatziki and cous cous, instead you are now served some chopped lettuce, tomato and cucumber with no dressing.....distressing stuff. I hope they are reading and take these comments into consideration, will not return in a hurry which is a crying shame.

It’s a worst kebab I ever had! The donner is so salty and expensive for what it is. I recommend the chef to taste his own food. The chef is nice but the food lets its down. I’m ready sorry I hope this can help them to change the taste!

We enjoy eating at Shackleton’s. If you are staying at Channings it is a very easy place to grab a bite to eat. Everyone is nice and we enjoy the food.

To celebrate my 80th birthday, a large group of people came for lunch. Not only did the restaurant cope extremely well with such a group needing to be served at the same time, but my friends just loved every course and praised the wine. The service was great, as was the ambience, and I was told afterwards that for many this was the best party of the year.
