Only stopped in on a walk to have a pint and a pudding. Staff were really friendly. Neck Oil beer was top notch and lemon meringue pie delicious. The chef even gave my dog some bits of pork! Will return for a meal next time

We went to Oliver’s as we had took our granddaughter a wk ago. Who is vegan.. the chef came and talked her through what was available. Which was lovely.. so I took my daughter her husband and granddaughter to Oliver’s last night, 30/8/24 I had rang the night b4 to ask about the vegan menu.. which they said they had plenty. Now my daughter and family had travelled over 27miles We got here only vegan available was the vegan meatballs, vegan sausage. I was fuming, this was my treat to my family, Granddaughter had the katsu currry with no chicken. The meal for my daughter and husband was certainly not worth the money. My fish and chips were so greasy I couldn’t eat them. For saying we had a fantastic meal the wk b4.. This was very Disappointing, and we didn’t think much of the menu. We waited nearly an hour for our starter ( which was beautiful) olives 🫒 bread oils but. It will be a long time b4 we come bk, if ever. Sorry Oliver’s this was not a good meal.

Despite living about 4 miles from The Lion, this was our first visit. We met friends for lunch and all four of us came away very impressed. I booked the table online and the process was seamless. It was nice to get a reminder on the morning of the booking with an option to change or cancel. On arrival, the place was well presented with a good choice of drinks (I have to have alcohol free these days, and was happy with the choice too). Initially we thought the menu was too extensive to keep the foods freshly prepared. However we were not disappointed with the quality. We all had quite diverse selections (with a couple of special changes for personal choice), and each one of us thought the food was delicious. The portion size was generous and a couple of us couldn’t finish it all. No room for sweets, I’m afraid. The service was good and attentive without being overpowering. We had a nice table looking out over the gardens, which looked very inviting. The decor was pleasant and it might be interesting to see what it’s like in Winter with the open fire. We will be back here very soon. It’s more or less on our doorstep, and the prices are reasonable. Not your Wetherspoons microwave bargain basement, but certainly value for the quality of the food served.

Shocking food and it was only 3 starters, Lettiuce dirty with little flies on. Only 1 red wine to choose from, merlot, which was disgusting.

We were advised by a friend to come to the lion for lunch. The chef was fantastic and recommended a great dish. We both enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back on a regular basis. Thanks again Warren for the first class food.

Came in with 8 family members for a birthday celebration was made very welcome and the food was great. Highly recommend the salmon bites. Will definitely be back.

Absolute waste of money. Useless bar staff with no clue how to operate behind a bar, really tough beef with our Sunday lunch, and at almost 20 pounds a go you would expect abit more quality meat. Will not be returning, rubbish.

Absolutely diabolical. Stood at the empty bar to be served for nearly 5 minutes while one bar person chatted to a mate and the other faffed about. When finally served had only limited choice of gin with no slimline bottled tonic! Considering eating but realising the owners/management were the only people in the restaurant - and even they returned a plate of food and resorted to serving themselves drinks! No acknowledgment or recognition of potential new customers. Needless to say won’t bother returning!

After I made a massive booking error at their sister restaurant, Kane arranged to have my party of 10 transported to The Lion so that we could celebrate my father’s 70th Birthday Celebration. Exceptional customer service. The food was fantastic, nothing was a problem and all the staff were brilliant. Highly recommend.

Great pub, owner couldn’t do enough for us and great food. After a last minute change of venue we were invited to dine here. The food was fantastic, generous portions and homemade- plenty of choice for the whole family including the kids. We were made to feel welcome and the owner bent over backwards to accommodate our group. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

Excellent and friendly service from the bar staff and the waiter and waitress. Very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Great choices on the menu and we all enjoyed everything we ordered. We’ll definitely return if we’re back in the area.

The best Christmas dinner I’ve ever had ever . The poached pear starter with goats cheese and walnuts was outstanding . The turkey main was so moist and all trimming superb . What a little gem! Brinsley is local to us but we didn't know this pub. We have been in its counterpart in Eastwood, which is also worth a visit. We were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of the food. It was a 20/10. It took a little while to come out, but it was definitely worth the wait. Staff was friendly and prompt. We definitely will be going again!

First time we've been since it was updated over a year ago. Nice decor, comfortable. Chef was running past us frequently to a shed outside for food though. We could see into the shed from our table and didn't look good seeing unrefridgerated food and milk stored in there. Would have liked to see lasagne or a salmon dish on the menu, but I had a pie. Was lovely. Food took a while coming out though, even though there were only 2 tables in at that point. The pub was almost empty, but service wasn't very attentive. We kind of got the impression that we were in the way a bit as it looked like they were prepping for an outside event somewhere else, as they were running past us with cooked sausages and putting in vehicles to take somewhere. All in all disappointed really, wouldn't rush back.

To be honest we have visited several times. But today we we’re disappointed in the selection of wines in the fridge for a Sunday. No Prosecco, no Pinot blush, no Pinot. We ordered and it took quite a long time for the food to come out. Prawn cocktails came out without bread. Not very tasty. We all had roast dinners and they were lovely. Quite slow service though.

Thought we would give this place a try for Sunday dinner. Setting is lovely, atmosphere was nice. Booked for 4pm on sunday, hubby had the beef whuch he said was amazing i opted for the pork belly. Although it tasted nice, the small bit of meat was disappointing and rest was fat that had not properly rendered down. Enjoyed all other aspects of the meal, however felt slighty strange eating a roast dinner out of a giant bowl. For price it was ok but have had better elsewhere.
