Perfect place for a baby shower! We had my daughters baby shower here yesterday and it was perfect! We had the dinning room to ourselves and had access during the day to decorate. The buffet provided was excellent and plenty of food despite catering for less people than were attending, at the recommendation of the pub. They gave us take out boxes to take food home, the bar staff were great and I really would recommend it here

Updated my review it's now under new management and tbh has gone down hill have just witnessed the land ladies boyfriend attack staff and customers on new years eve This isn't the first time iv seen her alcoholic boyfriend cause issues at this pub and she does nothing about it he should be barred by now but she keeps letting it go on Personally ill be avoiding this place from now on until the land lady gets control of her other half

Food, VFM, and surroundings are simply 2nd to none.

Christmas Dinner yesterday, 25th Dec 23, wasn't worth the £50 that I paid for a 4 course meal. Starter was OK, the main meal turkey was awful. The sprouts hard & so we're the carrots, meat all fatty, roast potatoes had never been roasted or seen an oven. The Christmas pudding & custard was nice, I didn't stay for the mince pie & cup of tea. I've often had meals here, as I live round the corner, bit Christmas Dinner wasn't very nice, I'm really sorry to say. And I know the staff gave up their Christmas day to be in the pub 😥

Nice place but when I arrived the young girl who served us and checked us in was a bit of putting constantly wiping her nose and forehead on her t-shirt and no customer service skills but the young lady who served our breakfast was courteous and polite

We booked breakfast with Santa (my self, husband and 4 children) it was amazing, honestly the best experience, will definitely be booking again. Santa is real 😆 one of my daughters kept asking if it would be the ‘real’ Santa and he really was incredible truly kept the spirit alive, beautiful authentic clothes, so good with the kids and he brought an outstanding helpful elf with him. Most accommodation and friendly staff. All around great experience

Stayed here for 1 night for a family party in Eastwood. For the money, i thought was good value, room clean and tidy as was the bathroom. Check in was easy, greeted by a cheerful & helpful staff member. Good bar & beer/had a few before moving on. Would defo return.

Good value for the money accommodation wise, very clean & comfy bed. Had a few drinks in the bar before we moved on. Good selection of beers in a pub friendly bar. Would defo return.

Arrived 28th November, cold room for three days as radiators wasn't working, given a small fan heater to compensate. Eventually given option of another room which wasn't much warmer. Breakfast was underrated as lukewarm, mentioned to Arran and he said he knew of the situation and kept trying to tell the breakfast cook !!, some items on menu not available, evening meal same with items unavailable, even asked for a white coffee on Friday lunchtime to say couldn't have one as no milk!!. Staff seemed no bothered with our situation and no apologies, doubt we will be returning

Food and drink very reasonably priced and the quality considering was good! Worth a visit.

Good hotel and bar, They do an OAP menu, you have to ask for it.

Pub food at ok price. Drinks fair price. Sat in lounge thinking it would be better. Wrong. Apparently these women worked for Green King that were eating in here. They were customers but filthy mouths on them swearing and just being rude. First and last time I'm afraid. Not a relaxing place.

Came to the pub for the first time because of the live music, which was excellent hence not one star. The pub was busy and it took time to get a pint which was expected although just three bar staff was too little, other smaller pubs nearby had twice as many. But this wasn’t the main issue. We decided to order the next round on the app straightaway as we sat down thinking it could take time. After 30 mins we enquired where they were to be told they were busy. After 50 mins we enquired again to be told it was obviously busy so we shouldn’t have used the app, there were no signs saying this, we asked for a refund and we’re told they couldn’t spare staff to do that. Never an apology, very rude, I’ll never go again. The slowness would almost have been accepted but the attitude of staff was appalling. An apology and some politeness could have helped but on the hottest day of the year we waited 1 hour for a round of drinks, had to queue twice to chase them and also were told it was our fault. Hospitality!!!

Excellent place to eat. We both ordered steak and these didn't let us down. Really tasty succulent steaks that were melt in the mouth good. Service was friendly and very quick. Great friendly atmosphere and we very much enjoyed our visit.

Came here for dinner and it did not disappoint! Thoroughly recommend coming for a visit if you’re wondering where to go in/around Eastwood. Friendly service in a small and cosy bar area, with attentive and courteous staff. Food was fresh, tasty & plentiful. Beer garden is a nice area to watch the world go by and chill. Like I say, worth trying!

Stopped here on our way back to Leeds for a bite to eat and omg it did not disappoint. I had the beef and ale pie and my husband had the gammon which were amazing 👏 pub has a great atmosphere. We'll done management you have a great pub. Hope to see you again soon, thank you

Great and fast service from bar and kitchen :)

First visit to Eastwood for about 20 years and had some spare time so popped in for a bit of lunch. This end of the town is a bit shabby, lots of boarded up shops, obviously affected by the large Morrisons store just across the road. Further in to town there's a Wetherspoons which enjoys a better position, but I'm not a fan so choose the Sun Inn instead. Only Mark down was tired furniture, seems they replaced the carpet but kept the tables and chairs from about 50 years ago. Staff was lovely, even followed me from the bar with a beermat. Parking is easy, car park behind the pub is free for an hour, then just a pound all day, but if you're really tight there's Morrisons just across the road. The menu is standard Greene King, not extensive or expensive or exciting.

Wasn’t the best wasn’t the worst place. Would be a great place for a friends catch up and hotel etc but not for a couple trip away. Very loud so not much sleep

Popped in for a couple drinks and a bite to eat, ended up staying most the night! Lovely staff, friendly atmosphere, brilliant outdoor area and lovey well priced food! Will be returning soon, might have to try a room for the night too!

Me and my squire stayed there Thursday night, the room was lovely and the breakfast was to die for but the main selling point of this pub lied in the events of the evening, we went down for a bite to eat and the camaraderie within the establishment was to die for! Top service, top bants. Will visit again

Came last weekend sat 27th may we ordered the burger meals off the lunch menu and they came with chips, onion rings and a pot of bbq sauce. Came today (3rd June) and ordered the same but this came with just the burger and a huge heap of rocket salad, no chips and no sauce. When we went back to the bar to ask where the rest of our meals were we were told the burgers off the lunch menu only came with a burger and nothing else. Confused and disappointed as it was only last weekend we were here and we had a proper meal. So we’ve paid £30 for 6 burgers which were very disappointing! So paying £5 for a burger is despicable!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere, Annabelle in particular made sure my stay was welcoming and enjoyable.

Fabulous food as always, had the small plates. Ordered the Eton mess Sundae and it was IMMENSE. Really good value for money and unlike some other Greene king pubs the standard of the food is ALWAYS really high and great value for money

Popped in on Saturday for dinner. We had the gammon and a mixed grill. Everything was cooked beautifully. Chef John, Michelle and the staff members went bove and beyond to make sure all was great for us and that everything was to our liking. Cant recommended highly enough.

We stayed at The Sun Inn for one night whilst we visited our daughter and her family. The room had all we needed and we made use of the iron and ironing board. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The bathroom was a good size although I would recommend that the grouting around the bath cleaned or replaced also some black mould in corner of shower area. That said we had a lovely breakfast which we both enjoyed. The lady who served us was very helpful and pleasant. During the day we had a meal in the pub with our daughter and her family we all enjoyed the food my son in law said his steak and ale pie was the best he’d had for a while Kelsey our server was very helpful and pleasant as were all staff that were working when we visited The Sun Inn. 9th /10th September 2022

Our table was booked for my sisters birthday, the food was supposed to come out between 1.30 and 1.45. An hour later some of our food still hadn't arrived. By the time it did come out, half of us had already eaten. The service was incredibly slow, though the ladies were very nice. We had ordered a week in advance so would have thought they would have been prepared.

Visited today in a large group to celebrate a birthday. From a warm welcome through fantastic professional yet personable and friendly service. Goodness knows how the Team in the kitchen managed to serve us all in such a timely manner on such a hot Sunday afternoon but they did a great job. An excellent experience all round. Thank you

We visited the Sun as we were passing. What a little gem. Great food, pleasant smiley service and a warm welcoming atmosphere. I recommend.

Noisy room over the bar, but after closing all was quiet. Functional and "cheap and cheerful" covers it all. No airs and graces here.

We stayed there for one night. We'll the staff were very friendly. The beds we're clean and comfy. Even if there was hole in the duvet cover. The hole place needs a full referb. It's so dingy. The lighting in the room was very dull....

This place looked no different when we visited than it did when I lived in Eastwood 30 years ago. The restaurant still looks like something out of the 1950s, with dirty carpets and an all pervading smell of beer and stale chips.

Visited The Sun Inn for the first time for lunch, after wondering what it was like for years but never getting round to it. There is only one word I can use to describe this place- DIVE. There is literally ZERO redeeming features. It’s dark and dirty, the cutlery had food caked on, the seats were all stained and the carpet has been there since time began. There’s damp on the walls, things are crumbling, honestly it’s uncomfortable to even sit in there. Dated is too modern a word for this place.

Good pub grub with decent beers and good friendly service. We called on a Wednesday afternoon and most customers were playing 13 card bingo which seemed good fun and all comers were invited to participate. Cheerful friendly landlady provides good customer service.

All of us as a family love this place, my friends love coming here too, the food is cheap but tastes amazing, the service is fantastic, the garden is lovely and the inside is a bit dated but not horrible so it just creates an atmosphere xx

Absolutely perfect. Our first visit. We were given pride of place in the Dining Room - but full meals also available in the extensive Bar area. The Soup was hot. My home-made Steak Pie was delicious, inside & out. Chips were proper chips- just right. And the Apple Crumbles came straight from the Sun's oven. Friendly staff. We'll definitely return.

Always a warm welcome here. The staff are friendly and attentive. A great pint of lager and I am yet to be disappointed with the food - cracking all day breakfast and chill nachos are amazing.

The Sun Inn Eastwood offers a cosy warm and welcoming environment for the weary traveller There are a variety of meals to choose from and if dining with a friend choose from the two for ten pounds menu, Its good honest local food, you wont leave hungry and the service was excellent. The bar was populated by locals who made us feel very welcome.

Had three rooms all very clean friendly staff free parking great stay will be using the sun inn in the future

La decoración está un poco en mal estado, pero es un precioso edificio histórico. Nos sentamos en un pequeño comedor separado que tuvimos para nosotros que fue de lo más agradable.

Perched on Eastwood village, the Sun Inn takes you back to an old village pub (albeit with some mod cons). Small and cosy inside but if weather permits, sitting outside, can be even more memorable especially on a summer evening watching the world go by.

Called in to the sun inn one afternoon for drinks and chose to have a cocktail, I ordered it and it did take a while to come but when it did it was very nice, then decided to have another one so I ordered it and was then told I could have a jug of it so I said I will have a jug then and was told it was too late as she had already rang it In the till and couldn't change it ! Never thought that it would be a problem to change it but was told no !! X

We were hoping for some local background to enhance our visit to the home of H D Lawrence.What we found was a delight for children and football lovers.The food was wholesome and well proportioned.The local draught ale was well presented and cheap.I suspect competition from a nearby Wetherspoons has hit trade, but not sufficient to deter families from a hearty Sunday lunch.Staff were helpful and obliging.

Called in on a Tuesday night for the acoustic open night because a singer/song writer called Isaac was on and we've heard he is going to be a star one day!There were 6 of us, we decided to eat because the menu looked reasonable and plenty of choice.In fact one of our party said, she was sceptical because it looked too cheap!We all ordered different dishes from steak,fish,curry to lasagna.The food came served by very friendly staff with big smiles on their faces, who actually looked happy to be there!Everyone of us enjoyed our meal and commented "what good quality and excellent value!"My steak ordered "rare" was just how it should be, "mouthwatering",best I've had for a long time. An 8oz steak at £4.99 with chips,onion rings and peas,what a treat!Two of the girls had puddings, which by the look on their faces,they thoroughly enjoyed and again, they weren't expensive!Isaac the singer was "amazing" and I'm sure has a very bright future,we look forward to seeing him again before he hits the "big time!" The room my friend and I were given was awful. Pipes very visible in the bedroom. The wallpaper was peeling off and there was a lot of damp crawling up the bathroom wall. The bathroom didn't look that clean, especially the toilet. On the plus side, downstairs was okay and the staff seemed friendly enough. I would not stay here again though.

Popped in to the Sun Inn for lunch break with work mates, not expecting much, as the pub was nothing special in decor and atmosphere, but we decided to eat here anyway, so we all opted for the burger choices on the menu...And what a surprise, big, highly tasty burgers, with great side of fairly chunky chips, which were nicely presented in a mini steel pail, and also tasted great. And with a price that was under £6 including a pint we all thought was fantastic! If you want a decent burger meal, a good pint then i recommend this pub as a lunch stop off!

Called in after day in Nottingham had a few drinks and a meal. Nice atmosphere friendly locals. There was an excellent choice on menu at very reasonable prices, the food itself was very good and great value for money.

I treated my family to a Mother's Day meal and we had their set menu. We were impressed with the choices and even more impressed when the food came. The garlic mushrooms were beautiful if not a little too crunchy. The mains were great quality too with the 8oz steak worth the best part of the price for 3 courses. The portion sizes were good especially considering the good value of the meal. We all had desserts and the chocolate cake was a sure winner (my apple pie was also delicious). But the best thing was that my 3 year old son was offered more chicken nuggets (which were great quality themselves) when he had finished his dinner and we were all eating. Four adults having 3 courses with drinks and a children's meal cost less than £55- you can't fault that. We'll be going back for sure.

Stayed en route to visiting family with our grandson. Had a double and single room. Rooms quite shabby but very clean, seriously need refurb. I am surprised because they are a Green King Meet & Eat chain. Beds comfy though, and the food is really good. The staff were so friendly and could not fault the customer service. Luckily we are ex-Derbyshire people and we knew that the locals could be a bit offish thinking we were strangers so no problem there. Car park only a few places but the main car park at the rear of the pub free from 6pm-8am then only a £1 all day, can't fault that. Greene King establishment....you have a gem of a place there just tidy it up!

Really disappointed with the service i got from the chef, supervisor n manager. They all talked to me n my partner in a horrid manor. Id recommend not goin here unless u want to b talked to like crap. Also wen we checked out we didnt get the normal how was ur stay or if we had a gd time, all we got was a mouthful.
