Amazing food, fabulous service! Looking forward to returning! We had the schnitzel and duck, both dishes were so tasty.

Have been to The Lion on many occasions and always good... However, last night arrive at the pub to meet with friends for dinner only to find that the kitchen shut at 8.20pm. They could offer us pizza but not really a gastro pub experience. Disappointing as the website says kitchen hours is until 9pm. Still, moved on to the Pink Olive for an Indian meal instead so friends weren't too upset.

We were staying nearby and was recommended here and so glad we were.The food was exceptional as was the super friendly service.My husband had the spicy prawns to start followed by chicken schnitzel with fries followed by the cinnamon dough balls.I had the mushrooms with egg on toast.All were delicious.Highly recommend this place just flawless.Dog friendly too.

First time back at the Lion for a long time (several years) with my wife. Carol had the chicken snitzel with Parmesan sauce and had the beef and venison burger. I have to say the food was very good and good value for money

Dinner at The Lion Clanville last night was excellent. Really enjoyed the special Moules Mariniere with fries and crusty bread. Followed by a huge portion of Eton Mess! Lovely atmosphere, definitely recommend.

First meal here out after lockdown. Great as ever-staff as friendly and attentive as usual. We were the last customers at 10 and offered to try and move our taxi which was booked for 1030 but were told it was no problem to stay and have another drink. Great to see all measures in place and to be back out again.

I took my mum and dad here today for their first lockdown lunch and as usual we were not disappointed. The premises were spotlessly clean with good Covid 19 procedures in place (hand sanitiser, plastic barriers, contact forms to fill in, staff wearing masks and gloves.). The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food, as usual, was tasty and nicely presented. We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch and I would whole heartedly recommend it.

My wife and our close friends go out to dinner every valentines evining. We booked the Lion expecting a gourmet menu, as that is what it says on thier website. The food was terrible, overprised pub trollop, poorly cooked, small portions e.g. for £16 you can have five runner beans, a handfull of reheated frozen/packet chips (mostly black and old) and two pieces of very dry chicken schnitzel with a poor quality (cold) horrible rejheated sauce. All this was on the normal menu. TheValentines menu was rediculously small, with limited choice and poor selection. None of the four of us ate our main course, as each of them were that terrible. They did refund £64+ pounds for all main courses, which was great because we ended up havibg an amazing Indian from a local restaurant and still had change! We will never go to theLion again and would recomend that if youu want a great mewl and a good evening out, then there are plenty of pucka gastro pubs in the area.

An swift response to call booking a lunch table. We were expected and warmly welcomed. The food was quick to arrive and absolutely first rate. The staff were very courteous and unfailingly helpful. The ambience is just what the discerning customer looks for in a proper proud country hostelry. Thoroughly recommend it.

Wouldn't normally review as promptly as this but we had such an fantastic time it deserved it ! From the moment we arrived, when we were met by a lovely young waitress who assured us our table was there when ever we were ready to the moment when we eventually took our seats, after an hour enjoying drinks with some friends we bumped in to, we were very well looked after. We weren't rushed or hurried, our service was excellent even though we had thrown their timings out by an hour, nothing phased them. As for the food, it was simply amazing. The chef and his team dealt with a packed house and excelled. I really cannot fault anything about the evening. We have been many times before and will be back again soon. If you haven't tried the Lion, you are missing out, do it !

We went to the Lion for a midday meal on a Sunday. My father, his partner, and her daughter came down from Reading and I have to say, the whole experience was just amazing! The atmosphere at the Lion was warm, inviting and the staff were friendly and efficient. My father has special dietary needs and they didn’t hesitate to make him a special meal to accommodate this. The food was delicious and arrived timely. We met the landlord who made a conscious effort to meet and greet us. The whole visit was a lovely one and one that me and my partner can’t wait to repeat. I highly recommend this establishment for a true loyal enjoyable outing!

Went for family members 70th and despite organising in advance, they still gave me food which conflicted with my baby's allergies (she is breastfed!) Not impressed at all!!! When will places learn the seriousness of allergies!!

Recently had a meal here with friends and we were really disappointed overall. It wasn’t busy but the waiting staff seemed inexperienced and unorganised, we had to order our drinks at the table 3 times before we actually got them, then after a long wait had to ask to order our food. Customers at 2 other tables also had reason to complain. The food was ok, although 2 identical meals were very different sizes, one looked like a child’s version of the other. It was also unpleasantly smokey due to the wood burner, forcing us to leave early. We used to eat here fairly regularly but can’t see us returning until the service is returned to its previous standard.

Food was lovely and couldn't fault it! Staffing what is going on?! There used to be a lovely manager and bubbly little team there who were prompt, happy, consistent and just all round lovely! It all seems to have gone a little pear shape! Things seemed to have changed very quickly and its all over the place - sadly people sat next to us thought the same! Sadly the manger cant seem to even crack a smile for her customers! I'd hate to think what or how her staff feel working with her if she cant crack a smile for the customers! Really disappointed as I loved coming here to a happy friendly pub with stunning food. Hopefully things will go back to how they were!

Lovely tone to the place, average servers. Steak asked for medium and received medium rare edging on rare. Garlic butter for the dough balls was also very watery as i got further down. Prices quite extortionate too.

We visited today with family for a Christmas meal. There were about 25 of us in total with 3 young children (age 1, 5 and 6). When we arrived we were slightly early so had a drink at the bar which was a lovely cosy setting. We then sat at our table and our food came out soon after but not too soon so we couldn’t have a quick catch up before. Some of us ordered fish and chips, burgers, ribs etc. I personally had the chicken burger. It was amazing. So taste and very hot. Everyone else were very pleased with their meals also. We had puddings too which everyone loved.

This is a charming quiet country pub that serves great vegan food. The watermelon soup was delicious. Great service.

As we are not from Andover it was always a risk to take your local friends out for lunch. We were welcomed to our reserved table and the service throughout was superb and extremely friendly.

Booked last minute, from start to finish the staff were very efficient & friendly, The Sunday menu was absolutely fantastic, We had Roast beef, with all the trimmings, absolutely delicious,beautiful cooked fresh vegetable & Yorkshire puddings to be proud of. We of course all had desserts and wow, all home made, including apple crumble, Eton mess, Chocolate brownies, Our experience was just delightful. Thank you.
