Stopped here for lunch during a long walk. There was quite a long queue outside so we had to wait for a table, but the staff were clearly doing everything possible to seat people as soon as possible. Very nice big light space and the menu was good with varied dishes to suit everyone. I had the Venison burger which was really nice. Big and juicy with a lovely flavour and a fresh bun. Came with chunky chips that were almost like potato wedges. Big and thick but cooked perfectly and were really really tasty. My wife had a cheese scone with butter which was amazing. Good size, very cheesy and didn't fall apart while eating it. We took a piece of the caramel and apple cake home for later, and that was also really lovely. The staff were all very pleasant (even though they had been non stop busy all day) and we will definitely eat here again in the future.

Came here for lunch, even though they were incredibly busy the staff were very accommodating towards our large group (+children and dogs) The food is all homemade & absolutely delicious. Staff were incredibly lovely towards our dogs as well, one is a little nervous of people but she was super happy to greet everyone today so she obviously felt relaxed as did we! Would definitely recommend!

Yes, we loved it. Even though it is a little pricey I guess that's worth it for such a location and environment. Tea and cake followed by a stroll around the excellent walled kitchen garden, then a walk along public footpaths straight into beautiful woodland and wonderful views, super. And able to take our dog into the cafe makes it perfect.

As always, an absolute must when visiting Keswick. Set in a stunning area, we got the launch from Keswick to Hawes (£6.00) then walked along the shore towards lingholm. It's a beautiful walk along the shore of the lake, with a serious treat at the end. The choice of food, drink and cakes was superb as always, the service spot on, the atmosphere grand, they're SUPER dog friendly, there's nothing not to like!

We recently visited this charming café and were thoroughly impressed by the delicious and varied lunch menu. The open steak sandwich was a standout, featuring a perfectly cooked steak and a fantastic tomato relish that added just the right amount of tang. The side salad complemented the dish beautifully. The vegetarian Croque Monsieur was equally satisfying, full of flavor and prepared with care. Our toddler was thrilled with his picnic, especially after spotting Peter Rabbit in Mr. McGregor's garden—a lovely touch that added to the family-friendly atmosphere. Overall, this café is well worth a detour for anyone seeking a delightful meal in a welcoming setting. Highly recommended!

We came to this beautiful place on Friday the 6/9. After looking at items to buy we made our way to the counter not knowing it was table service. I went to sit at a table near the door as outside was full. I was greeted by a waitress who said could I sit at a table that doesn’t need clearing, then said you are supposed to wait at the door. I said well nobody was there when we came in & I asked if I could sit near the door as it was very warm. Hadn’t realised but my friend too had been spoken to rudely by the girl at the till as we went to order not knowing it was table service. This made our mind up about the place due to the rudeness of staff. The staff could have approached us in a totally different way as this wasn’t very nice at all.

Lovely atmosphere and location, staff were wonderful. Drinks and cakes were good. Loses a star because they cheaped out on the jam on the cream tea scones. With a long queue outside the restaurant and takeaway booth but absolutely no urgency to clear tables and make room to accommodate, we were left very frustrated, as the experience could result have been so much better. We ended up, reluctantly, taking takeaway food into the garden but the sandwiches were expensive, damp and disappointing. Maybe on a different day (but this was on a weekday or of session) the experience could have been much better. The grounds and gardens are stunning though.

Cracking Spot, with excellent cooking , at a level above many of the local cafes. The menu is original and made up with local products where possible. If you have any form of mobility disability, its a bit of a walk from car park. If you ring the number on the main gates by the car park, they will open them for people with blue badge to drive to the halls parking. I didnt find out until I reached the kitchen. The main car park is also pay & display but they reimburse you with most of that when you pay for your food. Would certainly call here again for that special meal.

Cafe & tea very good, (warm) food relatively expensive but excellent, plus regional or even our own products from the garden in the shop, service good & friendly. The atmosphere in the cafe is not quite as nice/a bit hectic, but it is even nicer outside in the grounds and garden. The parking policy with £5 and £4 back if consumed is fair. Unfortunately, the cakes and tarts are really bad, too sweet and the cream in the cakes is much too sweet and too thick and the same in all cakes, plus the pieces are very different (depending on who cuts them) and often very small. It's a shame for a “cafe”, but unfortunately one star is deducted.

There are signs everywhere: "Private", "For hotel guests only" or "For employees only". The outdoor area is nicely done, but small and there are only a few paths. We abandoned the path to the lake halfway through (about 350 meters) because it was muddy and fenced off. Some gravel or bark mulch would do well here! The restaurant has the feel of a canteen inside and is very loud.

Lingholm cafe was very clean and the scones were delicious and the staff very friendly. So no complaints at all about the cafe. There is one thing that needs attention though and that is there needs to be CLEAR access information for disabled people on arrival as there doesn’t appear to be any on the site and a lot of people don’t go online. Another thing we noticed is that a bit of pipe is sticking up in the path leading from the car park to the estate which is a trip hazard for anyone with vision problems. When these issues are resolved I would give Lingholm five stars.

Would not recommend this cafe and to be honest bemused by the amount of good reviews unless our experience was an anomaly. We visited today, first sting is you have to pay £5 for parking - you can redeem £4 against purchases in the cafe and there is a warning on the parking machine saying there may be a wait for food which we were more than happy to accept…. maybe 30 mins or so or 40 mins absolute tops is OK if you’re expecting it. The experience that followed though was unacceptable and a bit of a p*ss take to be honest. We sat outside as there were no tables inside, again fair enough as it was Mother’s Day so very busy, however not ideal in March but we reluctantly accepted as we were tied in with the parking charge (5 cars in our group - so £25 in parking) Served by a pleasant enough lady however she refused to warm up focaccia or scones saying they didn’t have time as they were busy - sorry but if you’re serving hot food anyway then how difficult is it to warm up a cheese scone or focaccia? Must take less than a minute? At this point again would have left but was of course tied in with the £5 parking charge. So ended up choosing something I didn’t really want. Other people in our group ordered coffee and bacon sandwiches and some breakfasts which they then waited almost an hour (!!) for. The breakfasts were OK but the bacon sandwiches were absolutely crap - 3 small slices of bacon in an insipid looking bun. It was also very expensive. Really disappointing experience so won’t be going back.

Superb experience as always. From the monent we arrived, the customer care was excellent. There was a small queue but as I was struggling with back pain, the lady in charge offered to go and get me a chair while we waited. As always, the food was delicious. My husband had the Rarebit with mushrooms which was gorgeous. A really generous portion (sorry he had eaten most of it before I remembered to take a photo!) To accompany it he tried the local IPA, as recommended by the young girl serving us. It was really unusual and perfect with the rarebit. Going to look out for it in the shops to buy some to take home. Wonderful selection of cakes, flapjacks, brownies and scones (both sweet and savoury). I couldn't resist the home-made Hummingbird cake. Again a very generous portion. Carafes and glasses available to help yourself to water. Having had a lovely lunch, we had a look round the beautiful walled garden. Will be interesting to come back later in the year to see the herbaceous border in flower as there were some unusual varieties of shrubs and plants (well labelled). There was also an interesting selection of vegetables which they use in the kitchen (plus they had a few to buy). It was really lovely to see the gardeners were busy building and filling lots of new raised beds. I assume they are going to increase the amount of vegetables they grow. Sadly didn't see the alpacas this time. They were all hiding behind the hedge!! Highly recommend a visit here.

This was our first visit and it will be a regular stop every time we come to the lakes from now on. The view from any table looks out onto the garden with Barrow Fell in the distance, the place is very clean and tidy. All the staff were very helpful, and didn't exaggerate when informing you about how good the food was. The menu is not extensive, but what they serve looks the business. We had the soup, served with a chunk of bread, and shared a portion of chunk chips with garlic mayo. They were all delicious, the chips were well cooked, soft in the middle and crispy on the outside. We shared a cheese then cream scone with jam. Both could win awards in my opinion, but the cream scone won. This was our best meal in our 9 day stay in the area, the prices are just right. £3.10 for a massive cheese scone..... Who can beat that!

We were en route to a different destination and we just wanted a sandwich as eating a 3 course dinner that evening. No such thing available. We ended up with a sausage roll and a scone, quite disappointed. Soup of the Day sounded lovely but at £6.50 was overpriced. All food overpriced in my opinion as £16.95 for an open steak sandwich is terrible. Beautiful venue and lovely staff although no conversation could be had when the coffee barista machine was running and echoed around the room. Car parking at £5 (card payment only) is also overpriced almost forcing you to eat or drink something at the restaurant to get £4 refund. Will we return…….no. Due to lack of a straightforward sandwich and the car parking fee.

Dropped in for refreshments on an afternoon dog walk. Atmosphere, service and attention to detail all excellent. Quality of food and drink really impressive. Will make a point of calling in more often in future- one of the best casual dining venues in the North Lakes for sure.

Amazing place!! The service was absolutely amazing, everyone we spoke to was so so kind and warm. The food is also incredible, especially the chunky chips which we both agree are maybe the best chips we have ever had in our lives. A few veggie options to choose from and we loved that we could buy a couple of yesterdays scones for £1! This is the best place for a cuppa and some food after a morning of walking up Catbells :) beautiful grounds too and no need for a car as the surrounding area is so beautiful to walk through!

One of our favourite places when we visit the Lakes. We’ve been dropping in here every time we do a walk round Derwentwater, or nearby. It’s a regular stop which has evolved over the past few years. Great food, lovely location. Doggy friendly with towels to dry off soggy paws. It’s always busy, so either plan ahead or try not to come at mealtimes. You will often be queuing to get in (not always for very long). In warmer weather it’s great to sit out on the terrace. It’s a shame that the landing stage for the steamer is no longer in use, so if you’re feeling lazy you’ll have to drive into Portinscale or the Lingholm car park. Or get off the steamer at lower brandlehow and walk for around 15 minutes. (This is not a difficult walk, it’s fairly flat, and you come in through the woods and past the alpaca field).

Very nice avocado on toast with poached eggs and some local relish.

We were drawn in by the chocolate fountain in the window and we weren’t disappointed! The seating area is small but cosy. Great that it’s dog friendly.

Lovely cafe set in Spring Wood beside a babbling stream. Nice place to sit quietly in the shade with a cuppa listen to the sound of the water.
