Java Coffee Shop in Allerdale

I got a mocha and latte for me & partner and must say they were very tasty. Teenage daughter manipulated me into getting her the choc fountain strawberries.. bit pricey for the quality but she really enjoyed them which is what matters! Service was efficient, friendly and we were able to sit outside while we waited.

Called for a coffee on a busy Sunday morning. Staff dealt with the queue, service was quick and very cheerful. Coffee and cake up to usual high standard. Not our first (or last visit to Java)

After being dragged round the shops we needed a tea break. We stopped here and enjoyed a great cupa and a very nice Biscoff brownie and I had millionaire shortbread. Very tasty cakes and happy friendly staff.

Popped into Java at the weekend. It’s the best coffee shop in Keswick, offering an array of drinks and the most amazing chocolate fountain! Ordered my coffee and sat whilst the barista made my drink. I’m assuming she was the owner, as she then was asking other staff how long one member of staff had been on their lunch… said member of staff arrived. To which this woman started a very stern conversation right infront of my eyes about how her 30 minute lunch “felt a lot longer!” I sat in total disbelief. Java is a really cosy cafe, you can hear any conversation, I couldn’t believe that anyone would have the brass to speak to a member of staff in that manner infant of customer and also staff. This is a conversation for a meeting room out of sign from customers. It made my visit really awkward and frankly I was so shocked, I couldn’t speak. HR, customer service and general manners need some serious work. Such a shame, I used to visit Java back when I went to Keswick school land we all loved it. Such a saddening experience, as the girl looked so disheartened by her manager.

Lovely coffee shop located in the heart of Keswick - we stopped by for a little break with the dog. The cafe itself is a nicely presented coffee house vibe of coziness and an authentic feel. Unfortunately, I think we ordered the wrong thing as neither of us enjoyed our drinks. I ordered a chocolate orange hot chocolate and my partner ordered the honeycomb hot chocolate. They were very sickly and covered in a mountain of whipped cream. I didn't know mine came with cream as I wasn't asked if I wanted it or not. When my drink arrived, covered in cream, chocolates, and sauce, I asked the staff member if the toppings were gluten free as I am Coeliac. The chocolate sauce comes from their chocolate fountain which they use to dunk in croissants! Luckily they mentioned this before I tucked in, and removed all of the cream. I should've mentioned I was GF upon ordering but they could've asked if I wanted cream, chocolate etc.. Good coffee shop, it was around £9 for the two drinks.

Small place but we’re lucky enough to get a table downstairs. Nice large scones which were very tasty along with the obligatory clotted cream and jam. We also sampled the biscoff brownies which were great. I had an excellent flat white and my wife had a tea. Lovely place.

Popped in for a take away cappuccino. Service was fast if brusk. Coffee was totally burnt and undrinkable and sadly ended up in bin.

Nice location, decent coffee and cake. An annoyance was penny pinching on end slice of cake at £4 which they tried to cut into two so was smaller slice than usual....and then...horror of horrors...they dropped the remainder. So instead of v.happy customer I just ended up....annoyed.

Excellent coffee with a sustainable, ethical origin story. Cafe specialises in drinks and cabinet sweets but also does savoury scones. We really enjoyed our scones and saw some pretty impressive hot chocolates going past! They also do a variety of fruit and sweet skewers that they do in chocolate.

Fab coffee, excellent customer care. Superb staff. It is the little things like can you refill my water bottle ? done and ice cubes added 😀

The staff were lovely. My daughter had a marshmallow and strawberry chocolate kebab. She could believe how brilliant it was and ended up with a chocolate moustache. Great coffee and good atmosphere.

Normally I would have a detailed review but this place can be summed up by, excellent coffee, great scones and cake, great service. If there is one place you should go for coffee and cake it’s here…..a shining star

It is a nice place to sit down, chat with relatives and have a nice cup of Luxury Caramel Fudge Mocha. Very nice atmosphere, despite the fact that I have to wait outside to order and get a seat. But, it was worth it.

When we visit Keswick, about once a year, we make a visit to Java Coffee Shop. Today we called in for coffee and a hot chocolate. Delicious as usual. Comfy seating upstairs on leather settee. Warm, friendly service. Good size mugs. Highly recommend

I visit Java every single time I’m in the Lake District , staff are very friendly , the cakes and chocolate fountain are beautiful and the chocolate orange hot chocolate is just perfect ❤️

Popped into my favourite coffee shop in keswick.. Love this place, and so pleased they have survived the pandemic. Covid measures still apply but obviously customers are free to comply or not..Happy to say when we visited most still wearing masks... Staff still masked up...

Lovely little coffee shop, with a wide array of beverages. Tasty scones & really friendly, nice team. Comfy seating upstairs with fab window seats so you can people watch above the busy market square.

Visited yesterday for hot chocolate, cakes and a Frappuccino. Everything apart from the Frappuccino was lovely. However the Frappuccino was watery, flavourless and unfortunately had lumps of ice in it. So most of it remained untouched. Apart from this we had no complaints.

Great coffee, smoothies and snacks. Friendly service and staff and a great little cafe. Lucky to have the comfy sofa seats upstairs during a wet afternoon’s visit to Keswick. Great range of hot and cold drinks and some lovely snacks. Good background music too - I even asked what CD they were playing as I’d enjoyed the music so much. Good social distancing measures as well as track and trace. Highly recommended.

Great food and coffee. Definitely worth a visit. The flapjack is great with a coffee. Would a hundred percent visit again. (Also has good covid precautions).

The staff were very good with caring about social distancing and took care in making sure they took sensible steps for protecting their customers and staff. Nobody else that we visited in Keswick seemed to care!

Got a take away from here (due to covid19 restrictions). Have always enjoyed a brew here in the past and loved it, today was no exception. Good quality tea, and the chocolate fountain with strawberry, marshmallow or both kebabs. A lovely treat.

We were turn away by a couple of coffee shops because we have a cute Labrador. Apparently he was too big. Turned out to be a good thing, because we found Java Coffee Shop. Despite the limited space, they welcomed us with opened arms. If you are a coffee connoisseur you'll like it here. Hot coffee lovers will be in heaven and they even do vegetarian marsh mellows for my daughter, although you need to specify at the time of ordering. Their cakes are to die for - think I had at least two heart attacks whilst there. Staff are welcoming and it has a nice cosy feel.

We called here on chance, cold and wet, it was so lovely and warm and welcoming. We had delicious sandwiches with lots of filling. Excellent.

Very disappointed that the toilets were out of order and I had to go down the street to a public toilet and pay 40p! Had ordered my coffee already so I had no choice. Very bad advert of Keswick. A pretty mean town that seems to not care about its visitors! No sign on door of cafe to warn you of the non availability of toilets. A pretty poor show!

We've been visiting Java for years. They are dog friendly, right in the market square and have the best hot chocolate and a great array of cakes. Perfect place to spend a bit of time on a rainy afternoon.

I’ve been served by several people in the last three years visiting Keswick. It’s been a perfect espresso every time. If you are in Keswick and you drink espresso you would be mad to go anywhere else.

Would have given it 5 as coffee was really good. Unfortunately too many table blockers on laptops and yappy dogs. Also toilets out of use.

Java has the best hot chocolate in keswick. Just what you need after a very cold hike. Both the Nutella and the caramel fudge are amazing! We will definitely be back

I stopped in this cafe after a hike with friends. We all had one of their rich and delicious hot chocolates. I enjoyed sitting by the window upstairs.

This is right in the main square and excellent for coffee. They do soya milk which is handy if you’re lactose intolerant. They also do a fantastic looking iced coffee. The tray-bakes and cakes are superb and they also do fruit on skewers dipped in a chocolate fountain which my kids enjoyed.a,so dog friendly

We had 2 coffees and cakes. Serving vegan cakes and alternative milks is a big win in my eyes, our coffees were brilliant, right down to bringing a glass of water with the espresso as it should be.

Came here before heading off on a day hike to fuel up. Hadn't heard about the place but whilst looking for a place to settle we came across Java. I love the look of the place, very in keeping with the area. Extremely friendly staff. The espresso was perfect. I often find it difficult to find vegan cakes, luckily for me, Java was able to help. The carrot cake was amazing, it was finished far too soon. The trivial pursuit cards at the table is a fantastic idea if anything kept us there a little longer than expected. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

The best hot chocolate in Cumbria well worth a visit, great friendly service,tasty cakes aswell. Do not avoid going in 5☆☆☆☆☆

We stopped with our 3 friendly gsd's as sign said dog friendly and boy are they dog friendly. Lovely girls run the place and so so friendly, made a real fuss of our "kids" o and btw, probably the best coffee in town and the best I've tasted for many years. Poke your "popular" high street coffee shops! WE ARE COMING BACK!

Stopped here a few times last year so pleased to visit again. They serve a nice big sized cappuccino which kept the husband happy and I tried their lattes and a smoothie one day. Also sampled different cakes all very good quality and good portions. Lovely friendly staff and excellent coffee. May be small but worth waiting for a seat.

Called in for a drink, lovely friendly staff, not very big inside, but did not have to wait long for a seat, I am not vegan, but seen the vegan flapjack I was sold and it was lovely, hubby had carrot cake, coffee good too. nice visit.

Popped in for afternoon coffee. A good selection of cake, including some gluten free options outside the normal polenta/brownie/flapjack. Good coffee and the hot chocolate was suitably rich. Rounded off by friendly service.

Always take a few trips to Java and whatever you order is always really good. You may need to walk off the pounds though afterwards.

Wow - we walked past this place by chance and spotted vegan items through the window. We were so impressed with the quality of the vegan cake we tasted here. Had the carrot cake and the flap jack to take away, didn’t end up eating them until the evening and they were just as fresh. Would highly recommended
