Book this place at you peril. We rang before our booking date as Google was saying site was permanently closed, the site owner didn't let us finish our 1st sentence before he was rude and obnoxious. Then we were told our booked "tent grass pitch with electric hook up" which looked lovely on the site pictures would be on a hardstanding at the side of the road. When I asked how you pitch a tent on a hard standing (didn't seem an unreasonable question to me) we were told to F'off. Decided to book elsewhere, to be honest the bloke can keep the money we paid, I'd rather lose £170 than speak to this bloke again.

DO NOT BOOK THIS CAMPSITE Pitch-up should not be allowing this site to advertise. The pub is closed - which is in no way clear with a site who's details start with 'fancy a pint ...' the site was waterlogged so we should have been refunded anyway but the owner expected us to just say on the path into the site with no-where for us to sit with our friends. The only other people on the site were people living there permanently. The site was run down and nothing like what was advertised. When we requested refund the owner refused and was rude. We had to find an alternative site and have lost the money from this one. Please don't fall into the trap of booking this site

We expected winter camping in Feb but this place is not suitable. The owner phoned as we were setting off to tell us to stay off the grass, the pub was shut and park on the road until he arrived, which he didn't. Being offered to park on a road doesn't work instead of a pitch. Overall the site is very delapidated with poor faciliities. The pub which is his main selling feature is not open. Owner has been contacted but from previous reviews here and on Pitch Up he is not keen to resolve or receive feedback. On the plus side we found a very well run campsite nearby Sumners Pond.

The food was fine but the atmosphere freezing! You need to light the fire. I had to keep my coat on. Lacks warmth. Other people commented too.

What a lovely weekend!! Stayed at the Limeburners this weekend for 2 nights with the family. Rob and his wife were very helpful and accommodating. Fantastic cozy pub with amazing food in a lovely setting and a brucy bonus of a fab campsite out the back, Perfect! We will definitely be back!

Diabolical! New Ownership no doubt. Saturday evening booking. On arrival the area was empty other than a few people and bar members enjoying a mingle. We were shown to the table by the front door where the wind flew through on every use. The table was shored up to the feature of the pub, an attractive hive shaped fireplace that was boarded up and with two baby chairs in the hearth. From our position you could see the doorway through the bar to the toilets and kitchen door. We watched the kitchen staff walk to the gentleman’s toilets on several occasions whilst cooking between 8-10. The lady of the house, not dressed appropriately to wait, made her second attempt (clearly made) to take our order. She asked me for my starter and when replied calamari, she immediately and without an apology stated “that’s off, can’t get the product, we’re changing our menus soon”. Therefore, we made the best of a short menu however, the camembert was overcooked, more cabbage than duck on the confit special, my sons chicken burger was flat torn and tasteless leaving it unappealing and over cooked. The rest of our party just got on with it, hardly worth the complaint to wait for a replacement if offered. During our meal, they started to restock the bar shelves bringing in bottles from outside. The experience reminded me of the service in the late 70’s. Most establishments today are attentive service, nice atmosphere, discreet and clean loos and more importantly, freshly presented cuisine. We will not be returning and would recommend you attend some courses in food and front of house service.

Qué encontrar. Una encantadora sensación tradicional pub, con la comida genial, el propietario amable y buena cerveza y sidra.

We've visited the Boars Head a few times recently and it has been consistently excellent. Today we both had the beef bourguignon, it was delicious. A generous portion of beautifully tender beef with mash made for a great meal, dessert was an impossibility on this occasion. The welcome and service has been impeccable on every visit as well The management are clearly working hard to achieve and maintain a high standard in every aspect of what they do. We ate mid-afternoon today (Saturday) without booking but I'd suggest that booking is essential for lunch and evening meals at the weekends. We have also had the Sunday lunch on a couple of occasions and that has been to the same standard.

Driven passed this pub at least 30 times on way to Gatwick over the years but never stopped. Visited on Thursday 26th September at 1:30pm. Reasonable sized car park with lots of spaces. Pub has oak beams which gives it a real traditional vibe. Didn’t book a table but was able to be seated straight away. Good choice on the menu. We had ciabatta baguettes (one halumi one sausage/onion) washed down with a Prosecco and a beer. Service good and baguettes only £9 each. View out the back of the pub over the South Downs is stunning! Worth knowing that last food orders are 2pm for lunch. Would definitely return.

Free entry to explore the marvellous gardens at Leonardslee when booking the Ultimate experience. A thorough wine tasting, brilliantly conducted by 'Simba', a true credit to his profession as a sommelier. Fabulous wines and that Sabre moment when the cork is 'popped', my friend did this with such distinction. An excellent, delicious Afternoon Tea followed, nothing waste much of a problem, photo opportunity, carrot cake a welcome extra but 'Simba' created the icing on the cake. Fantastic experience.

Every time I order the quality is always consistent. Particularly recommend the cookie doughs. Why go to a sloppy chain when you can support a fantastic independent!

Incredible menu of unusual combinations - hard to choose. Our food was delicious. Portions were enormous. Excellent service.
