The Light in Havant

Having eaten here before, I thought it was a reasonably safe bet. I was extremely wrong. I ordered a chicken curry, with prawn toast, chicken noodle soup, amongst other things for family. Two hours after finishing my food, I was violently sick, actual sick, not just feeling unwell. I’ve been in bed ever since (now for 24 hours) The GP has confirmed it is food poisoning, and I will feel sick and possibly be sick for 72 to 96 hours. I will never ever order food from here again. I even called them, to which they denied being responsible! Please do yourself a favour and avoid!

Best Chinese about by a mile , always come Here the quality and taste is the best around . Don’t listen to the negative reviews

Not used the Light for a while because of inconsistency with previous orders but thought would try again. Told 45 mins for delivery turned up after an hour and 10 minutes. Chicken curry was lovely and seaweed very nice however the Roast a duck in plum sauce was terrible. Barely any duck (literally a small tiny few slivers) , excessive mountains of pineapple (wlalmost tub fill and a very watery and tasteless sauce/juice which appeared to predominantly taste of pineapple juice.

Amazing Chinese takeaway, loved everything that I ordered , staff were friendly easy to approach, portion sizes were good( I had some leftover for the next day) , would definitely recommend!

Very pleased with my meal, it was very delicious and portion sizes were amazing, still had some left over for lunch next day! The hot and spicy chips were incredible as-well as the shredded chilli beef and overall a very tasteful meal. Had a very happy family tonight , I definitely recommend ordering!

Portion sizes was perfect the counter staff were very polite and talkative. The food tasted amazing and was very high quality and delivery time was fast

2nd time ordering from here, won’t be ordering again. The 1st time we ordered the chicken Singapore style was horrible and we threw it away. The garlic chilli chicken wings were really nice. Today when we ordered we were told 1hr 20 for delivery. I called after 1hr 40 to ask where our order was and was told they were still cooking it. When I asked the delivery driver why so long to come she said they knew they were running that far behind but they didn’t want to say on the phone 🤦‍♂️ The garlic chilli wings were nice again, however the chilli salt chips were disgusting and had to throw them away. The regular chips were just about edible, not very nice. Very disappointed especially after such a long wait.

Called up for collection, told to be there for 6.20. 20 minutes later and a couple of walk in orders our meal finally arrived. Asked for not a lot of beansprouts in my chow mein and ended up with none. Food was flavourless and blanned. Terrible service and not the first time they’ve forgotten our order!!!

Having tried other places over the past few years, we tried this one. Fantastic food. Quantity is very good on most items. Not always 100% perfect, each time, but very close. Consistency of food quality and taste is generally spot-on. We generally collect but have had some delivered orders which tend to take longer depending on how busy they are. In the 30+ times we've used them, only once was there an error where they forgot to put the rice in the order. I'll forgive them that as they have always been great, and errors do happen. They were happy to deliver it to me but would have taken over an hour, so I went back and collected it. I wasn't happy, but they don't deserve a beating for an error on the rare occasion. In summary, give them a go, not just once.

Whilst visiting friends in Waterlooville we ordered a meal to be delivered and we were all very impressed with the quality and cooking of the dishes . We will certainly use the service again when in the area .

Chicken curry was tasteless and like rubber, waste of money, the meat was just boiled and warmed up.

I have used this Chinese take away a few times now ,but after tonight I won't be going there again.I phoned my order through at 6.30pm and was told my food would be with me within 1 and haod hours which was bad enough,but decided to still go ahead.2 & 1/2 hours later ,still no sign of any food so phoned them to ask where it was,and how much longer I would have to wait,only to get told by the girl on the phone that my food order still hasn't even been started yet.Absolute shambles .They promised me a refund this eve for my order which I had to cancel because my children were so hungry and couldn't wait any longer.Guess what,no refund has been made to me.I will be going down there as soon as they open yo get my money back trust me.This has ruined my Christmas Eve ,as all my family were looking forward to a nice take away.This place is a joke .Avoid at all Costs.This has happened to me before too . Disgusting 😠

Trying to find an alternative Chinese to my regular local due to its change of management. I was happy with the portion sizes and prices here but the taste of the curry wasn’t for me. It was very sickly & very sweet compared to what I have been used to. Usual colour too in my view for a curry. Good friendly service though and free prawn crackers.

Questioned the lady on the phone if there was egg in Singapore noodles, to which she said there no egg, so specified no egg no prawn, when it turns up, it has egg in. Called up to explain there was an issue. With the only reply of “urm I don’t know” untill questioned further. She told me it wasn’t her that was on so she didn’t know. But later after asking the manager she got lost in her lies and then said “ well when the girl ordered she didn’t specify” oh dear love looks like you’ve been caught out. So not only do they lie they don’t want to sort anything out for you either.Customer service 0/10 Food ain’t much better either.Save yourself some time and money and potential issues later.There’s much better restaurants out there.

Always order from the light, never disappointed and the delivery is always on time if not early! The chicken balls are the best!!

We have been using The Light for about a year now as a payday treat on the last Friday of each month and I have to say we really look forward to it. Their delivery service (although not free any more) is excellent, always arriving well with their quoted timescale, never had to wait longer than 25 minutes and the meal is always piping hot.The portions are really generous and there is always enough left over to provide us with lunch the next day.

First time I’ve used the light was really nice delivery time was quick the lady on the phone was very polite very reasonable prices I had a chicken chow main (was lovely) the only thing that was a let down was the chicken balls I had half a portion and they tasted very weird they had an onion taste to them so was putnoff and didn’t eat them but I would definitely try from there again

Was great the first time ,,then the second time was very poor .so I thought I'd try one last time and it was average so there is no consistent good food

A menudo tienen comida para llevar china y eran bastante exigente si no criaturas de hábito. La comida siempre es entregado en tiempo super rápido, caliente y bien preparado. Nos encanta el pollo al estilo de Hong Kong y pollo chow mien, recomiendo este establecimiento para comida para llevar cualquier día

Have had a couple of take-aways from here and it never fails to please. Food is delivered on time, hot and tasty. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Nunca he tenido un problema con este lugar. Ha sido nuestro local durante años y pedimos a menudo a ellos. Comida siempre muy agradable y caliente, así como vinos frescos. Aquí hay algo para todos, desde el primer momento tratando de la cena experimentado! Me encanta! :)

we have used the light while we lived in denmead went in for a take away my wife had a piece of metal in her food phoned up just offered to replace it next time . i wish i had gone to enviromental heath as my wife could not eat the dinner and i dont think offering to replace next time it should have replaced the entire food we had

Good quality food. Not too greasy and certainly very tasty. Squid starter was very good. Busy for collection and delivery so better to order early.
