The Libertine in Bournemouth

We had a business breakfast/lunch meeting in The Gallery. The venue was perfect, the food great value, the staff were excellent & Richard the manager greeted us personally. We have already booked our net meeting and will be using it for the foreseeable future.

5 Stars – A Fantastic Experience! I had an excellent experience at The Libertine. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was equally impressive; the staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely lunch catch up with a past work colleague. Emily our server was welcoming and attentive and we had really nice food and drinks.

Emily was fantastic nothing was too much trouble, asked all the right questions and delivered a fantastic lunch for 3, highly recommend

Great food and service. New to the area and only visited here three times (so far) but every time the food and service has been excellent.

Nice pub, shame about the food. Expensive, but disappointing. Portions were small. I ordered the vegetarian wellington which was supposed to be filled with a mushroom and pea risotto - there was lots of rice, but barely a trace of mushroom, and no peas at all.

The beef short rib was incredible, this place was a great find. Rory was an absolute gem! Thank you, we will be back 😊

We had a fabulous cup of coffee in the outside yard area of the Libertine. Emily, our server, brought us a delicious chocolate brownie and provided superb, friendly service. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful burgundy and teal decor and quality chesterfield style furnishings. Our table was nestled into a pretty bay window, and the food (brisket croquettes followed by vegetable Wellington) was delicious! Linda made sure we had everything we needed and went out her way to call to let me know I had left my scarf which was very kind. Would definitely visit again.

Great venue situated in Westbourne lovely decor and atmosphere . When I arrived I was greeted by Amber who was very helpful and knowledgeable as I have dietary requirements. The beers are from youngs brewery and are kept perfectly. There is also a wide range of ciders wines and spirits and a great cocktail menu. The food menu is extensive and definitely recommended.I had the full English due to the time I arrived and it was amazing. .The management were very professional and very welcoming. I will definitely be back.

We attend most weeks and big shout out to the team who understand our access needs and makes sure we always have suitable seating when visiting the libertine. We came for the Sunday quiz but we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and fantastic selections of beer on tap. The staff were warm, friendly and accommodating. Rory did a fantastic job as Quizmaster, loud, clear and humorous throughout. We will recommend to friends and family.

Best pub in Westbourne by far- team spirit and community is like no other, you can tell all staff get along and overall it's a friendly place to be! Drink selection is impeccable, every option of beer on draught, and wines are amazing- have had food here before and it was amazing. We decided to take part in the Sunday quiz, with Rory the host. He was amazing, definitely an 80's throwback young man- highly recommend Will be back next week, thanks guys

We had a great time at The Libertine in Westbourne! We joined their quiz night and called ourselves The Dum Dums! The quiz was really well-run by Rory! With a fun mix of questions, and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The staff were great and made us feel welcome. It’s a lovely pub with good food, drinks, and a cozy vibe. Definitely worth checking out—especially if you’re up for a quiz night with friends.

When we are on holiday we always visit the Libertine. Of course we did learn last year the libertine was closing for renovations . Wow what a transformation we have had a wonderful meal serve by Holly and a new young lady who assisted service which was excellent . The steak first class cooked to perfection . The crème brûlée one of the best I have ever tasted the apricot flavour really came through . Congratulations Richard and to your excellent Chef and team . Brian from Derby

Ĺovely cosy place to have a meal . Catering for everyone from adults to little ones!! Plus two nice eating areas outside front an back . Very friendly helpful staff an varied menu . !! Felt there was no hurry to depart while there oh an very clean toilets. In fact a good experience.

We have always loved The Libertine but love it even more after its fabulous face lift! It is the hub of Westbourne, classy pub with a London Vibe! The food is scummy and Linda who looked after us is a one off!! Professional but such a laugh !! Love you Linda !! We are in there every week and we consistently get a warm welcome, great service and brilliant food, the homemade sausage rolls are to die for !! We are so lucky to have such a gem on our doorstep, thank you team Libertine xx

Great food and brilliant service from Molly

Arrived and sat at a table on a quiet Bank holiday Monday. Waited for 10 minutes and realized no one was bringing menu's to our table, so we got them ourselves. Eventually one of the staff members came and she took our order. As she was walking away, I saw the size of someone having an adults portion of fish and chips and it was huge! Perfect for my son and I to share so I quickly ran up and asked if I could amend our order. Well I didn't realize how much of an inconvenience this would be and how quickly someone's manners could change. Her tone was unpleasant and so was her attitude. I apologized to another member of staff who brought us our drinks. I asked if I had upset her in anyway and she told me it was because the lady didn't know how to change the order. The lady then approached us and told me I hadn't upset her, it would take a lot more to upset her and to be honest was confrontational, which made us uncomfortable. I said ok, explained that when I asked her to change the order she snapped at me and her tone wasn't very nice. She disagreed and told me 'I'm sorry you're having a bad day'. I didn't make eye contact or say anything to her at this point. So she walked off. Perhaps she doesn't realize that comments like this in a customer facing role are not acceptable and she made our family lunch out which is a rare treat unpleasant. I didn't mention any of this to anyone when we were there as I didn't feel comfortable to do so. So I hope the person reading this might provide some staff training to her on how to amend an order as this seemed to really annoy her and cause the unpleasantness. The food was lovely and would highly recommend the fish and chips. It's just a shame one person can dampen someone's day.

Enjoyable afternoon with great food

Very nice food , a bit pricey for Sunday lunch but nice food, staff were all very efficient and friendly. My second time here in a month, my only criticism is there isn’t a great choice on the sweet menu, on both occasions I’ve been we were all going to have a sweet, but decided against it as there wasn’t much choice The dogs enjoyed the roast beef treat thank you 🐾

The best pub in Westbourne – no question! Nikki, and I with our dog Sid are in The Libertine most weeks, we often see good friends It’s become our favourite spot for a pint (the finest Guinness in town! By the way!!!) and a meal. Since the rebuild, the atmosphere is even better – warm, welcoming, and genuinely family-friendly. The staff are always great, the food hits the mark every time, and the fact it’s dog-friendly suits us perfectly. Whether it’s a quick drink or a long evening catching up with friends, The Libertine is always a win. Can’t recommend it enough.

The Libertine is the best, lovely wholesome vibes along with a tummy full of yummy amazing food. All the bar staff have been so helpful and welcoming. Baby Leo has had the best time as the youngest quiz team member and now has a second Mum who he loves aka Poppy. Thank-you for the best time!

Sunday pub night, dinner and drinks with friends. Fabulous wines, awesome roasts and friendly atmosphere. Clearly well managed team of happy approachable staff. Very impressed. Did the quiz afterwards. Rory the quiz master oozed charm and kept the vibe alive. We didn’t win but we’ll be back as we heard he is newly available…

A great place, with excellent food and good service. We were meeting friends and celebrating a birthday and were very pleased we chose The Libertine. Next we travel down from Cheshire will certainly visit again.

Pub is lovely inside, really buzzy vibe. Food was mediocre at best. Very fatty pulled pork (which we mentioned but the waitress suggested thst it was a common comment), undercooked corn fritters, over cooked fish and the clotted cream had turned. When the bill came there was no mention of a tip, however when the waitress brought over the card machine to pay, she added on a 12% tip without showing us the screen. I didn't realise until I returned home. Very disappointed 😞

Popped in for an after work drink and some snacks, ordered a selection of starters. Absolutely deliscous. Definitely reccomened and will be back.

Rory our waiter was very friendly, professional and efficient. The BLT sandwiches we all had, Mum said was the best she’d ever had and we all agreed. I actually had the hake burger which was delicious but next time (and there definitely will be a next time) I’ll be ordering the BLT. The beautiful decor and furnishings and especially the loos were clean and tidy.

Serving staff spent more time chatting at the bar than attending to customers. We felt ignored. Been here many times over the years but unlikely to return.. Edit... I rated this 4* on my original review as that was 3 years ago, but now, after the changes, I was very disappointed. Very limited menu, in fact, we almost left. Not offered more drinks when our glasses remained empty, while the staff were obviously not busy.. As a pub ok, as a restaurant nowhere near what.

Very polite staff and helpful. Roast dinner was served in a matter of minutes after ordering and sadly wasn't very hot.

The food was delicious- everyone in our party agreed. We mostly chose small plates. These were REALLY SMALL, especially for the price. The tacos were about £9 and you get 2 tacos that are about 6cm long. I have never seen such small tacos! Fortunately we ordered plenty of other sides too. Rory gave us great service and it was a fun evening.

Mikey was very friendly, we only had onion rings and chips with our drinks but the onion rings were top tier, great pub 👍🏼

Thoroughly recommend a visit to The Libertine in Westbourne. Having under gone a complete refurbishment last year, it has become a very comfortable venue for drinks and food and meeting friends. It feels like the heart of the community. The staff are all professional, knowledgeable and friendly. A special shout out to Emily, who loves to serve, loves to recommend items from the menu, and is always smiling.

We hosted my mum's 60th birthday here and the service was nothing less than outstanding! From booking the Forge for the evening and the team setting it all up for us, to having an amazing meal in the pub, everything was perfect. Polite and attentive staff, really really lovely food and general great vibes. Really recommend the Forge for parties too - so much fun and a lovely space

Booked for a mother's day lunch and somewhere new to try. Only thing I would say is that the menu was not very exciting and nothing really jumped out. I ended up ordering the BLT sandwich with a portion of fries which was very tasty.

I recently visited The Libertine in Westbourne and was absolutely blown away by the outstanding service, especially from Tara behind the bar. She was incredibly polite, friendly, and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. It’s rare to come across someone so genuinely helpful and attentive, and she truly made our visit special. The pub itself has a great atmosphere, but it’s the fantastic staff like Tara that make it stand out. Highly recommend—especially if you’re lucky enough to be served by her!

Staff are welcoming and the food was great. We had the big beef roast that is supposed to be for 4 but it easily fed 5 of us plus a doggy bag for on of our friends dog!

Superb Sunday lunch fantastic wine list

10/10 for everything however it did take some time to come out other than that perfect

Despite a nice busy atmosphere, as soon as we walked in, Emily welcomed us, and took us to a table. Her service was spot on, and the sea bass gorgeous. 10 out of 10! 🤩

We celebrated Mums 70th birthday here. Food was absolutely exceptional. Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Chef and staff went the extra mile to make it a very special and memorable experience. We had a really lovely time. Service was also phenomenal, served by Linda during our visit and she was very attentive.

Decent pub, good atmosphere with great woodburner in the middle of the pub. Not eaten there but great for a few beers!

Went for lunch with family- fish was cooked perfectly and portions were huge- compliments to the chef! Great experience in Libertines. First meal and I wished I had been sooner. Daily special of Gammon and chips. Perfect fried egg and the best chips I have had in a long time. Great selection of wines and a smiling member of staff named Emily. I will be back.
