January special was extremely good value for money and delicious (starters: scotch egg, chick-pea caesar salad, mains: minute steak, gnocchi, dessert: sticky toffee pudding. Super service from Ewelina and the rest of the fantastic Libertine team who made a huge fuss of our doggos who loved their Libertine dog treats. Many thanks.

Great night had on Sunday with a work party group, Poppy was a great server, although a little cheeky at times she attended too every need our group needed. Knows what she’s doing great asset too the pub

Several main courses not available, plates hot, food only warm. Expensive for what it was. £11 for glass of wine, really😳 Nice surroundings but wouldn’t rush back

Our second visit to The Libertine and just as good as the first. Excellent service.and food (fish and chips with haddock amongst the best we've tasted - and curry sauce for the chips too!) Great local pub - we look forward to making it our regular.

Full of people sitting and chatting which was very noisy but good natured. The bar itself was quite wet and the real ale had run out. Staff helpful, good atmosphere and a really warm place. I haven't yet visited the old forge and not eaten so cannot comment on the food and service other than that the toilets were clean. I look forward to returning at a quieter time.

We booked The Forge for our engagement party. Holly was so helpful in organising our event! As it was during the festive period we ordered the sharing platters. We received so many compliments on the food from our guests- we wish that we had ordered even more! We arrived a hour early to get set up, The Forge has plenty of space for both tables and floor space. The staff were so helpful in the night with bringing additional cutlery etc but mostly left us to our own devices, which we really appreciated. It was nice to be at a venue that trusts you to get on with it! I would just also like the mention that the renovation of the main pub looks gorgeous! We really loved the space and the team, thank you for making a great night an amazing one!

Can’t thank you guys enough for a fantastic birthday celebration. We hired the Forge and the team were so accommodating, especially Linda and Alice - you guys rock! Food was on point and Linda made sure we had everything we needed to make the day run smoothly. Thanks again!

My husband and I had a 3 course meal lastnight and we were truly blown away. The food was sensational, alongside the stunning and cosy vibes of the place. Our server Holly was lovely, cannot recommend The Libertine enough. Cannot wait to return 🙂

Holly prepared us the best Bloody Mary cocktail which included questions about our preference on the mix and how keen she is to get it right for her customers. Excellent service generally and a lovely vibe!

(27/12/24) We booked late lunch for 4 people Plus a newborn. Arrived just before our reservation time slot thinking we would be shown to a table on arrival. We were left waiting at the bar area for quite a few minutes before a bar tender/ team member could see to us. My assumption was that maybe staff numbers weren’t at there fullest for this day, hence the delay. The table we had reserved has been taken by a walk-in group of customers so we waiting for the staff member to find us another table. When seated at the next available table, we were not asked for drinks or given menus till at least 10/15mins after sitting, which seemed odd. Then once menus were given we were left in the lurch whether to order at the bar or wait for a staff member to take our food and drink orders. Which highlighted the lack of staffing for the time we visited. I understand deeply that after a renovation the day to day running may have a few mishaps and hiccups but attentive service to paying customers needs to be maintained. Food was lovely and once we were served food the service from the staff improved. Sadly the more top end dishes on the menu had ran out so that was a bit of a bummer. The pub is such a large space with so many alcoves and corners for seating. Which must make it hard for staff to clearly view customers that are waiting patiently. Overall good food, cosy atmosphere to meet with friend and family. Table Service needs to be improved, or allow customers to order through an app or at the bar. Staff were polite and friendly. Will revisit in the new year.

Worst Christmas dinner I’ve ever eaten. Charged £94 pounds for quite literally something inedible and wouldn’t even feed to my dog. Potatoes raw inside. Refused to refund the entire meal and made us pay for drinks. DO NOT waste your money. Revolting and ruined Christmas!

Went for Christmas lunch. Food and service were Incredible. They exceeded my expectations even being short staffed due to illness. The pub its self is fantastic with a great choice of drinks. Thanks to Richard and his team.

Popped in for a sit down meal with a friend, which I booked in advance. Friday before Crimbo, so really busy with drinkers etc. Good attentive service by Becky, which was very good considering how busy it was. Selection of food was limited due to how busy they were apparently so, just had a burger each, which was pretty nice, along with a nice dessert. £60 between us, and a tenner tip.

Our server Becky was delightfully helpful and her energy was amazing. A great evening in the newly renovated Libertine. We will be back

I had a great time at Libertine pub in Westbourne! The Sunday roast was delicious, and the fig, apple, and chestnut crumble was buttery and fragrant. Fantastic service from Abi made it even better. Highly recommend!

Had a company xmas party here. Staff couldn’t be more helpful and attentive. Food was great and everyone had a great time. The Forge is a lovely place for a group.

Fantastic food, great service and a lovely atmosphere

This was the first time I visited The Libertine with my wife and some friends. The pub is lovely on the inside and service at the bar was quick and easy. We weren't so enamoured by the food, perhaps because we were there on a Saturday night (7th Dec) and there were Christmas parties going on. We were put on a table for four however, a group of 8 then joined the adjacent table, making for our experience to be cramped and unenjoyable which resulted in our swift exit upon completing our meals. Will go back and try the menu on a less busier day...

I booked a last minute table on a Sunday for a large group and even though they were super busy they did their absolute best to accommodate us! Food was wonderful and service was brilliant, our waitress, Jai was lovely and big thanks to the maitre de for squeezing us in so last minute! We will be back!

We had our noisy Christmas party lunch for 16 of us on Friday 6th December. The staff are all so lovely from planning through to serving us on the day and the atmosphere is always great. We had the sharing platters which were delicious. Special thanks to Alice, Linda & Rich for making it a roaring success 🤩

I work at Chez Fred just down the road and without fail recently we’ve always wanted to be here on our breaks. Just the atmosphere alone is amazing. From the customers to the staff everyone is just beyond friendly. I’m a uni student as well and a few times I’ve had a coffee to just get a bit of reading done, the place is beyond exceptional. There’s 2 parts I believe, one place for drinking and the other for eating. I’m so grateful to work where I do because honestly it’s opened up the wonders of Westbourne. The libertine will forever be my first choice.

We were a party of 24 “oldish” people and we all thoroughly enjoyed our pre Christmas lunch. The food and service were excellent. Thank you all, especially the Chef!

Fantastic pub best in Westbourne and maybe Bournemouth. Updated outside area now so even better when suns out.

Great atmosphere very nicely decorated, drinks were good and the staff friendly but the beef on the sunday lunch was very rare and I think if you are going to serve it so rare that it's cold in the middle you need to put that on the menu and warn people.

Refurbished recently, youngs and guest ales on,do not be afraid to sit in old restraunt as very all inclusive now ,which makes the place seem more welcoming and very large ,lots of outside space

We had a business breakfast/lunch meeting in The Gallery. The venue was perfect, the food great value, the staff were excellent & Richard the manager greeted us personally. We have already booked our net meeting and will be using it for the foreseeable future.

From arrival to departure this was a super experience. The homemade food was delicious and the service was brilliant. The pan fried sea bass was the best I’ve tasted in a long time but the homemade syrup sponge and custard was our favourite. Thank you to Emily for making us so welcome, to Mark in the kitchen for fab food and to the pudding making for finishing off our meal so well. I would definitely recommend The Libertine to all my friends.

Lovely new decor and good service; the barman was very accommodating to our dog, providing water and letting us have the table of our choice, but, the portion size of the vegetable cottage pie was truly pathetic: no more than a tablespoon of veg & lentils, a tablespoon of mashed potato and a tablespoon of cabbage. These 3 tablespoons cost £16. I enjoyed my cocktail and starter (tasty, but a bit overpriced- crab and prawn toast) but the main was wholely inadequate. The chicken flatbread was also disappointing, and the first choice of starter was unavailable’. As Grandma was treating us, I didn’t want to spoil her moment by complaining, but I was quite cross.

I’m from Birmingham and visit Libertines whenever I’m in town. Not anymore. Visited Wednesday night early doors. Booked a dog friendly table and had a few drinks. We asked for menus and after reading them we thought that maybe we had been given the one that was for bar food and the restaurant one was different! (There were no pizzas on menu and only one selection of a steak meal) now I’ve had fantastic meals in this pub in the past and correct me if I’m wrong but this place was renowned for great pizzas and steaks.WELL NO MORE. We were politely told that this was the same menu produced in both sections(bar and restaurant)and it was changed just 3 days ago!!!! With pizzas gone and no selection of steaks. On a final note the atmosphere in the bar was great and nothing wrong with the service whatsoever but the menu sucks. Sorry guys be interested to see what others say in the coming weeks IHAVE SINCE RETURNED I didn’t eat in the pub but I have been in on two occasions with my two golden retrievers in the last couple of days and the service has been fantastic. Pub feels warm and welcoming and to be honest I can’t wait to eat there my last review. was harsh, but the pub seems amazing. Keep up the good work I’ve changed my rating to five stars hopefully it will show on the review.

We went yesterday for the quiz night. Really good fun, friendly staff, roaring fire and great atmosphere.

We had a birthday party in an area reserved for us in the main bar, we had a fantastic time. The staff are great in the Libertine. I drink cask ale and it’s kept really well. Looking forward to my next visit… they even have Chewy’s favourite biscuits…. I didn’t eat so haven’t reviewed the food, the roasts that came out Sunday looked great tho…

Very nice pub it,s had a makeover which is great lovely bar staff 1 bar man does Cocktail,s to order which look & tasted fantastic, it,s a bit pricey for a beer & a cider but the atmosphere was great when people came in after 5pm on the Friday we were there, Will defo visit again xx

Best Tiramisu we've tasted in the UK (and we eat a lot of them!). We also had a roast dinner prior (chicken & beef) and it was very delicious - not too filling. We love the new refurb too - so cosy and stylish. The staff are also fab and attentive. We were only sad to hear that they weren't showing the Autumn Internationals but we look forward to watching the Six Nations next year!

Limited review as we didn't have food so unable to comment. On a Saturday late afternoon the place was packed, despite plenty of space, certainly popular. Unusually wide range of draft lagers, perhaps five, from Peroni through to lesser known, and lots of wines by the glass. Nice cosy feel.

Had Sunday Roast, could have done with a little more meat and veg, but was more than satisfied with meal. Just refurbished, cosy pub.

Amazing new decor and a fabulous meal so everything you could ask for in a pub. My husband had the Fish and Chips and I had a steak, everything was cooked perfectly and the service by Ewelina ( apologies if I've mis-spelt your name) was excellent. I cannot recommend The Libertine highly enough, its a really well run pub with great staff and a huge asset to the Westbourne community.

The Libertine has undergone a massive refurbishment and it looks good with new fires and soft furnishing. What hasn’t changed is the service (is it table service or is it bar) and the food standards (price and availability. Many of the small plates not available. I would stick to going for a drink.

Visited after the reopening. Service was excellent, food was Delicious. Will definitely be back. Two pints and two (amazing) Fish & Chips: £46.

We loved the newly refurbished Libertine and had a great meal. They had been busy so a few dishes off menu but they were hugely apologetic and what we ordered went down well regardless. The pub looks great, love the new fire and pleased that it still retains lots of the old charm but just better laid out. Staff were friendly and welcoming as ever. Our fave place to drink and eat out in Westbourne

Loving the refurb. The atmosphere is great, the place was buzzing. The food is excellent, with a good menu. We had the spatchcock chicken to share, it was delicious! Emily, the manager and the bar staff were all very lovely, friendly and attentive. It's great to see they have plenty of staff too. We can thoroughly recommend the liquer coffees, they were the perfect end to a perfect meal. We will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu

Delicious small plates and rather sumptuous steak which I shared with my partner. Our little lady Alice had a yummy cheeseburger and ice cream and said it was her most favourite ice cream ever! Best local ever! Thanks to the liberTEAM x 🙏💙😇 Rich is awesome

The Libertine has recently undergone a long-overdue refurb. The left hand side of the pub ("the restaurant") used to be woefully under-utilised, but the repositioning of the bar has opened the pub up to brilliant effect. It is clear that a lot of money has been spent, and the pub now has a great variety of seating options. I am going to give five stars, but I am rounding this up from 4.5, and also taking into account they have only recently reopened (two days ago before writing this review). The seafood chowder was delicious, but was very potato-heavy rather than haddock-heavy (and I think the prawns were already precooked). The tiramisu was the best I have tasted. Again, taking into account inevitable teething problems, there is now a great emphasis on table service, which absolutely suits me, especially when you have actually booked to go there for dinner rather than just dropping by for drinks. On this note, however, the service was fantastic and attentive when we first arrived, but definitely petered out as the evening went on and the pub got busier. It became quite difficult to get the waiting staff's attention. It was a delight to see how re-energised the staff were, and they are clearly proud of the refurb (as they should be). I can definitely recommend The Libertine, and will look forward to trying their small plates on our next visit. Recommended!

Had a lovely warm welcome from Emily Chapman as we arrived. The new refurbishment is beautifully done,with cosy seating and log burners. The staff very friendly and helpful. It was the opening night so there was no food available , just drinks, however there were complimentary bar snacks, I have to recommend the pork scratchings! The menu looks fab. Looking forward to returning to eat. Thank you Libertine!

The refurbishment is amazing. We had complementary crackling that was really nice. First opening so no food was available but food available from today Friday 25th October
