The Libertine in Bournemouth

We went yesterday for the quiz night. Really good fun, friendly staff, roaring fire and great atmosphere.

We had a birthday party in an area reserved for us in the main bar, we had a fantastic time. The staff are great in the Libertine. I drink cask ale and it’s kept really well. Looking forward to my next visit… they even have Chewy’s favourite biscuits…. I didn’t eat so haven’t reviewed the food, the roasts that came out Sunday looked great tho…

Emily looked after us really well. The Harissa chicken sharing platter was great I will definitely be returning

Very nice pub it,s had a makeover which is great lovely bar staff 1 bar man does Cocktail,s to order which look & tasted fantastic, it,s a bit pricey for a beer & a cider but the atmosphere was great when people came in after 5pm on the Friday we were there, Will defo visit again xx

The fish was amazing and Emily our waitress was ver intuitive and ver kind, thank you. Oh and the decor was very upmarket and the fire was cozy.

Emily was really friendly, helpful, attentive and the food was very nice. I had a BLT a fries.

Best Tiramisu we've tasted in the UK (and we eat a lot of them!). We also had a roast dinner prior (chicken & beef) and it was very delicious - not too filling. We love the new refurb too - so cosy and stylish. The staff are also fab and attentive. We were only sad to hear that they weren't showing the Autumn Internationals but we look forward to watching the Six Nations next year!

Fantastic evening spent in the newly refurbished Libertine the other night. More like a pub than before, and the fires will be fantastic in the winter months. Thank you x

Limited review as we didn't have food so unable to comment. On a Saturday late afternoon the place was packed, despite plenty of space, certainly popular. Unusually wide range of draft lagers, perhaps five, from Peroni through to lesser known, and lots of wines by the glass. Nice cosy feel.

Popped in for a drink before dinner and was v impressed. Its looks beautiful, great atmosphere, will def be back

Had Sunday Roast, could have done with a little more meat and veg, but was more than satisfied with meal. Just refurbished, cosy pub.

Amazing new decor and a fabulous meal so everything you could ask for in a pub. My husband had the Fish and Chips and I had a steak, everything was cooked perfectly and the service by Ewelina ( apologies if I've mis-spelt your name) was excellent. I cannot recommend The Libertine highly enough, its a really well run pub with great staff and a huge asset to the Westbourne community.

Went in for coffee. The place had been starting to look shabby but it has been completely refurbished to a high standard. The menu looks good too.

The Libertine has undergone a massive refurbishment and it looks good with new fires and soft furnishing. What hasn’t changed is the service (is it table service or is it bar) and the food standards (price and availability. Many of the small plates not available. I would stick to going for a drink.

We loved the newly refurbished Libertine and had a great meal. They had been busy so a few dishes off menu but they were hugely apologetic and what we ordered went down well regardless. The pub looks great, love the new fire and pleased that it still retains lots of the old charm but just better laid out. Staff were friendly and welcoming as ever. Our fave place to drink and eat out in Westbourne

Visited after the reopening. Service was excellent, food was Delicious. Will definitely be back. Two pints and two (amazing) Fish & Chips: £46.

Came to opening drinks night..lovely refurbishment nice and homely more like a traditional pub..table service very good served by Emily who was very polite and attentive. Definitely will come back.again to try the food

Loving the refurb. The atmosphere is great, the place was buzzing. The food is excellent, with a good menu. We had the spatchcock chicken to share, it was delicious! Emily, the manager and the bar staff were all very lovely, friendly and attentive. It's great to see they have plenty of staff too. We can thoroughly recommend the liquer coffees, they were the perfect end to a perfect meal. We will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu

Delicious small plates and rather sumptuous steak which I shared with my partner. Our little lady Alice had a yummy cheeseburger and ice cream and said it was her most favourite ice cream ever! Best local ever! Thanks to the liberTEAM x 🙏💙😇 Rich is awesome

The Libertine has recently undergone a long-overdue refurb. The left hand side of the pub ("the restaurant") used to be woefully under-utilised, but the repositioning of the bar has opened the pub up to brilliant effect. It is clear that a lot of money has been spent, and the pub now has a great variety of seating options. I am going to give five stars, but I am rounding this up from 4.5, and also taking into account they have only recently reopened (two days ago before writing this review). The seafood chowder was delicious, but was very potato-heavy rather than haddock-heavy (and I think the prawns were already precooked). The tiramisu was the best I have tasted. Again, taking into account inevitable teething problems, there is now a great emphasis on table service, which absolutely suits me, especially when you have actually booked to go there for dinner rather than just dropping by for drinks. On this note, however, the service was fantastic and attentive when we first arrived, but definitely petered out as the evening went on and the pub got busier. It became quite difficult to get the waiting staff's attention. It was a delight to see how re-energised the staff were, and they are clearly proud of the refurb (as they should be). I can definitely recommend The Libertine, and will look forward to trying their small plates on our next visit. Recommended!

Visited the libertine for its re-opening. What a great job, a welcoming warm cosy pub with a fantastic feature log burner. Staff are very friendly and in particular Emily who was very attentive.

Amazing refurb. Had the most amazing salt beef baguel for lunch with a side of parmesan hashbrown bites. Everything is homemade and value for money!

Had a lovely warm welcome from Emily Chapman as we arrived. The new refurbishment is beautifully done,with cosy seating and log burners. The staff very friendly and helpful. It was the opening night so there was no food available , just drinks, however there were complimentary bar snacks, I have to recommend the pork scratchings! The menu looks fab. Looking forward to returning to eat. Thank you Libertine!

The brand new Libertine in Westbourne, has been excitedly anticipated by so many of my local neighbours in Westbourne during it's recent re-furbishment over the last few weeks! Many of us, enjoyed the old Lib' and many of us were wondering, if it the NEW Lib' would match up to the Old one? The truth is, that the opening night has been a HUGE success!! I love that Richard is still here with his lovely deputy Alice... what a great team they are!! Lots of Young's old managers were here to support the opening, one of my fav's is Chelsea! Richard and Alice have doubled the size of their team. There are old team members, Ken, Rory, Linda etc but what a pleasant suprise to have met Emily (who served me my beer, and at my table btw and SO who was SO friendly)), Rio (who had one the biggest welcoming smiles ever) The bar has doubled it's size and the Libertine now looks like and Old Worldly, (London style) warm, cozy pub that you would find outside of town in the countryside.... BUT it's now HERE.. in Westbourne!! There are TWO, Brand new fireplaces, giving a feeling of romantic comfort, and when I asked Laura and Lou ( who were here to help Richard and Alice) with the launch tonight, I was told that the New Lib will still be showing certain Rugby Competitions and plenty of Euro and World cup football competions in the future. The beer prices, have changed (of course), but only by an average 15p per pint! All in all, I rate the NEW Lib' a massive success and I will most definitely be coming in here, a bit more in the future, even though, i do try to support most of the pubs here in Westbourne!!, b'cos this wonderful village of Westbourne, is defo the place to hang out! 🙂 Michael A.

Nice place. I went for the Sausage and mash and that was really tasty. Plenty of mash and depth of flavour in the veg and Mash. Sausages were nice and thick. Someone had the fish and that looked great. Some had the gammon which which they were dissapointed with its being fatty and wasnt great. Mine was great and fish was great. Plant burger was great too..

Quick stop for a pint, classic British pub but the larger was not the best on the day.

This is likely to be my once-a-week venue for a glass of Pinot Grigio, a sit in the garden or inside, and a quiet read. Lovely pub.

The food is always lovely here and the staff are always amazing, the cocktails are also amazing. I would recommend the scotch eggs!

First time visit with a group of friends and family, were able to accommodate a group of 10 at short notice and then flex the booking time when family were delayed. Service was very good, the staff member helpful and food was very enjoyable.

I made a booking with the Libertine for a lunchtime wake following the midmorning funeral of my mother. I liked the look of the Libertine as soon as I entered, and felt sure that this was the right location for friends and family to gather together, have a quiet drink with some lunch, to chat about mum and catch up. The bar staff were polite, nicely spoken and gave just the right impression. From beginning to end it was smooth, calm, no fuss or faff. The 5-option lunch that I selected (vegetarian / gluten free available) was served on time and was delicious. The Libertine proved to be the ideal location to bring the morning to a close. Everyone - the events managing team, the bar staff, the chef and team - worked well, as I say, without fuss or drama, creating an environment which suited all. A huge "Thank you!" to the Libertine. I would give 6 stars if I could.

There weren't many options for food, but I won't subtract stars as my friend and I arrived at 4pm asking for cake and pastries. (we did both have a section of giant sausage roll, that was alright!) Service was great, attentive and a relaxed mass of people outside where we sat. I'd visit again 👍

After a hard week at work we arrived in here for a well deserved pint only to be turned away because one or our party was wearing a hi visibilty vest. A very rude barman wouldn't serve "dirty work men". Would give zero stars if possible!

Had a very nice early evening meal here, grabbing a free table before the Euros match. Quite expensive, but good quality and nicely cooked food. Had a good weekend vibe, busy for the football, and we left after eating.

After struggling to find somewhere to eat & it pouring with rain, this pub put a table together for the 6 of us. Best fish we’ve ever had! The gluten free batter was so crispy and not fatty in the slightest. Everything is homemade too. My husband said he had the best & biggest chicken & bacon burger ever! Only issue was the drinks took a long time to come out. Great food though!

The Sunday pub quiz is so fun and Rory is a great host! Will be joining often

We booked The Forge for our baby shower. On the day, the food and service were good. Everyone was super helpful and we had the space to celebrate as we wanted the baby shower, so that was really nice. The space is lovely and it is really nice that it has an outdoor area, it was one of the main reasons why we picked the place. However, the booking system wasn't good, I had to go to the pub to confirm if they receive my request as I didn't hear from them in over a month. The initial date was multiple booked and I had to picked a different day. Super recommended!!

We have never visited Bournemouth before . Unsure of where to have something to eat. We also had a very friendly well behaved dog. Our hotel had said they were dog friendly but they weren't allowed in the restaurant . All the staff at the libertine were very welcoming .nothing was too much trouble . The food was also excellent.

The staff were so friendly & kind. The food was delicious & served to my table in a timely manner . The restaurant was clean & looked inviting my pudding a warm chocolate brownie with ice cream . Yummy

Had the best pork belly roast I've ever had! Everything was delicious, hot and brought out quickly. Brownie was also scrumptious. Kat, our server was really friendly & attentive too!

Popped in for dinner on Saturday night. Pub was busy but got a table in the dining area. Plenty of choice on the menu but went for the crispy chicken burger and fries. Really good choice. Crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside served with piping hot fries. Service was good as always 👍

Its fantastic to see Richard back at The Libertine. We have always loved coming here but with dishes not available (our table was at 18.30!) and the pizza oven no longer being used the restaurant feels a bit flat now. The staff are as super as ever and we are delighted to see Richard back at the helm. We are looking forward to seeing what changes he brings!

Very nice place to eat, not a bad menu. Visited during lunchtime, so relatively quiet. The beefburger was large and delicious, with plenty of salad and dressing. Chips were great, I had expected them to be greasy being thin, they were not. Good service, friendly staff. Definitely recommend 👌 👍
