Visited The Libertine having been about 2 years ago - what a great experience ! The food was fantastic and service fast and friendly - some of the best steak I have tasted ! The bill came to £89 for two of us with three courses, drinks and coffee !! Thank you for a lovely evening.

The food is always lovely here and the staff are always amazing, the cocktails are also amazing. I would recommend the scotch eggs!

First time visit with a group of friends and family, were able to accommodate a group of 10 at short notice and then flex the booking time when family were delayed. Service was very good, the staff member helpful and food was very enjoyable.

I made a booking with the Libertine for a lunchtime wake following the midmorning funeral of my mother. I liked the look of the Libertine as soon as I entered, and felt sure that this was the right location for friends and family to gather together, have a quiet drink with some lunch, to chat about mum and catch up. The bar staff were polite, nicely spoken and gave just the right impression. From beginning to end it was smooth, calm, no fuss or faff. The 5-option lunch that I selected (vegetarian / gluten free available) was served on time and was delicious. The Libertine proved to be the ideal location to bring the morning to a close. Everyone - the events managing team, the bar staff, the chef and team - worked well, as I say, without fuss or drama, creating an environment which suited all. A huge "Thank you!" to the Libertine. I would give 6 stars if I could.

Rory was amazing, did the quiz Sunday night. Brilliant quiz and quiz master. Free popcorn and roast potatoes ! Highly recommend

We booked The Forge for our baby shower. On the day, the food and service were good. Everyone was super helpful and we had the space to celebrate as we wanted the baby shower, so that was really nice. The space is lovely and it is really nice that it has an outdoor area, it was one of the main reasons why we picked the place. However, the booking system wasn't good, I had to go to the pub to confirm if they receive my request as I didn't hear from them in over a month. The initial date was multiple booked and I had to picked a different day. Super recommended!!

We have never visited Bournemouth before . Unsure of where to have something to eat. We also had a very friendly well behaved dog. Our hotel had said they were dog friendly but they weren't allowed in the restaurant . All the staff at the libertine were very welcoming .nothing was too much trouble . The food was also excellent.

Popped in for dinner on Saturday night. Pub was busy but got a table in the dining area. Plenty of choice on the menu but went for the crispy chicken burger and fries. Really good choice. Crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside served with piping hot fries. Service was good as always 👍

Its fantastic to see Richard back at The Libertine. We have always loved coming here but with dishes not available (our table was at 18.30!) and the pizza oven no longer being used the restaurant feels a bit flat now. The staff are as super as ever and we are delighted to see Richard back at the helm. We are looking forward to seeing what changes he brings!

Very nice place to eat, not a bad menu. Visited during lunchtime, so relatively quiet. The beefburger was large and delicious, with plenty of salad and dressing. Chips were great, I had expected them to be greasy being thin, they were not. Good service, friendly staff. Definitely recommend 👌 👍

Our family had a an evening meal here. Kat our waitress was very friendly and greated us with a warm welcome. Our food order was taken promptly. Our food was all served to us at the same time (11 of us) and food was hot and good quality, very reasonable price. All in all a very enjoyable dining experience

Service bordering on overattentive until we wanted coffee and had to ask at the bar. Sandwiches over priced for stale bread (both white and brown) Beef filling ok but in bits rather than sliced and cheese filling seemed sparing. Ladies toilet clean and pleasantly perfumed.

A large pub, with restaurant dining on one side and pub/drinks/bar food on the other. Nicely decorated with a variety of different sized tables to accommodate different groups of people. Staff behind the bar are plentiful and helpful. It can get very busy at the bar at times, but they also operate an ordering system from each table, so you don't have to leave your party to stand at the bar for ages. I've not eaten here yet, but it's a good place for drinks.

Very slow service sat down at 7.10pm food didn't arrive til 8pm. They placed our table for 2 between two very loud noisy groups on one side a group of lads the other a group of girls, so could barely hear each other. Refused to have dessert as we though the service too slow and we wanted to get away from the noise as quickly as possible. However the main course we had was cooked to perfection and full of flavour, but could of done with a larger helping of fries with the steak considering it was over £20, they didn't even bother coming to collect payment we had to go up to the bar to pay for the meal. Will not be visiting again as to have such poor service on a Saturday when there was only 20 people in the restaurant area was disgraceful

For Context: Prior to Covid I lived in the area and regularly went to dinner and the pub at Libertine. Post Covid I've moved further afield and still came back to the restuarant for dinners. What on earth has happened? The menu has changed to more of a Harvester type menu. If only the cooking stood up to that? My partner ordered a starter of Chilli and Garlic Tiger Prawns. First off, there was no metion of the prawns needing shelling. Bit difficult to do when the dish is piping hot. When the dish had cooled sufficiently to be able to pick up the prawns to shell them, there was so much chilli on the dish as to ruin the flavour completely. My partner had avoided the "Tiger Prawn Tagliatelle" as a main because it specifically states "Shell On" - in a tagliatelle? With sauce? Shell On? Really? I had the beetroot humous - passable but you can't really get that wrong.... can you? For mains we ordered the "Aged West Country 8oz Bavette Steak" The steak was slightly grey and tough, the fries were a reminder of McDonalds fries and overcooked (how???), the onion rings were overbattered and overcooked. The only bit I could finish was the side of Brocolli. I didn't finish any of the main dish. For atmosphere expect to be eating in the middle of a busy drinking pub with loud music. My partner and I had to lean into each other to talk. (Manager - Pub music up and restaurant music down maybe?) This has been noted by other reviewers but apparently the management don't care. I'm very disappointed in how, what was a favourite eating destination, has deteriorated. 2 years ago I enjoyed a decent steak, well cooked, with new potaties and winter vegetables and a lovely peppercorn sauce. What has happened? I would recommend several places from Poole, Ashley Cross, Bere Regis, Wimborne, Weymouth and Dorchester who all server a West Country 28 day aged steak that is wonderful. Supplier issue or Chef issue? Carry on like this and The Libertine will no longer be a going restaurant concern. Judging by the noise from the pub, that might just save it from closing.

Very disappointing service. We went to the Libertine this evening for dinner, we didn't have a reservation, but the lady at the counter said to come back in 40 minutes when they'd certainly be space. Despite both being quite hungry we wanted to check out the Libertine food so waited in the bar for the 40 mins. We returned to the restaurant at the right time but the young staff told us that the kitchen was now closed and nothing could be done.... Extremely irritating and rubbish customer service. We landed up at the Indian a few doors down and had an excellent meal. It's put me off eating at the Libertine.

It pains me to write this review as the Libertine used to be one of our go to places to eat but it seems the Youngs takeover has been a negative change for this once lovely pub. Firstly, they’ve stopped doing their amazing pizzas. Apparently Youngs have made this decision and when they have their refurb, will be removing the pizza oven. Secondly, I booked a table for four on a Saturday afternoon, when we got there were seated in the noisy pub area rather than the restaurant, so struggled to hear each other. The menu is still the same as the restaurant, with the same prices, even though you go to the bar to order your food and drinks. Moving on to the food, we ordered two beef pies, one burger and one sausage and mash, drinks were two 0% Peroni, one glass of white and a lime and soda, for over £90 you’d think it would be amazing. The pies were gristly and had no flavour, we never add salt to our food but were tempted to on this occasion… decided it wasn’t worth eating and both left quite a bit. The burger and sausages were ok but nothing special. Sadly, we won’t be returning to the libertine, having been returning customers for the best part of 15 years this is such a shame.

I’m from Birmingham and visit Libertines whenever I’m in town. Not anymore. Visited Wednesday night early doors. Booked a dog friendly table and had a few drinks. We asked for menus and after reading them we thought that maybe we had been given the one that was for bar food and the restaurant one was different! (There were no pizzas on menu and only one selection of a steak meal) now I’ve had fantastic meals in this pub in the past and correct me if I’m wrong but this place was renowned for great pizzas and steaks.WELL NO MORE. We were politely told that this was the same menu produced in both sections(bar and restaurant)and it was changed just 3 days ago!!!! With pizzas gone and no selection of steaks. On a final note the atmosphere in the bar was great and nothing wrong with the service whatsoever but the menu sucks. Sorry guys be interested to see what others say in the coming weeks

Really friendly staff and a nice restaurant. Burger was kind of basic but was still a nice burger but wasn't a big fan of the fries I got which seemed to be very greasy and very crispy.
