Got a takeaway haddock and chips twice..wasn't cheap and neither of us could finish as they were That bad ! Don't know what they were cooked in but they were completely tasteless and very greasy..the batter on the fish was thick and soggy. And the fish was watery and didn't taste like haddock to us . The girl that served us could hardly speak English and ended up giving us a large and a regular fish which I didn't ask for. Probs the WORST. Fish and chips I've ever had ..DiSGUSTING. Avoid !

I had never been to a Harry Ramsdens before but the experience was fantastic! Staff were very friendly and the food was also fantastic. I had cod and chips with a pickled onion and then a cheesecake for dessert. All of it was lovely and I highly recommend it although cod was a little small for then price.

Extremely arrogant waiter Richard made me and my friend feel inconvenient. For us, as for foreigners it was unpleasant. . I am sure stuff ,as the representative of your restaurant should be more polite.

Miserable staff in the take away. Price of fish obscene. Paid £8 for a piece of cod not much bigger than a fishfinger. Chips were nice but don't expect much fish for your money. Fish nuggets for my daughter were tiny and hardly any either. Total rip off.

Trip down memory lane, just as expensive as it was back in the day

The service was extremely slow. Despite having to as for the initial order, the extras, the desserts and the check. I understand it was lunch time rush, but it's important to acknowledge customers and make them feel attended to. The waitress/waiters seemed more focused on clearing tables than on serving us. They avoided eye contact and kept their heads down cleaning. We were tucked away in a corner and had to keep waving to get their attention. No one checked up on us. This completely put us off the whole dining experience. At one point, my cousin was waving at a waiter on the next table but he completely ignored her and walked off. I couldn't believe what I saw. I called him back but he continued to walk on. I know he heard me because the family next to me witnessed me calling him back. I was so angry, I had to get up and walk to the front to get someone’s attention. I took the whole family to the front to get their attention. 20mins of waiting for a check is unreal. When I was told to return to my table, they promised to bring the check, but it took another five minutes for someone to come over. To make matters worse, the server attended to the table in front of us first. The food was mediocre; the large haddock barely fed two children, and the chips were subpar. The desserts were the saving grace! Overall, it was a disappointing experience. Fortunately, they didn't add a service charge—if they had, I would have asked for it to be removed. We felt completely ignored, not just once but by four different waiters, even though it wasn’t that busy. The staff seemed more interested in congregating at the front than in attending to the customers. We won't be coming back here again. You need to speak to front of house manager. It's unacceptable to have customers being ignored. Your staff need to be more attentive.

£16.00 for a small portion of cod, chips and a small pot of mushy peas. Ridiculously overpriced.

Brought some friends from outside the area for a quick bite. The area outside was closed and had to eat inside. That was in late July on a lovely sunny day!! The worst thing was a member of staff of east European background (due to her accent) who was extremely rude and discourteous. It was like a sergeant-major drill and all our requests for seating were met with a big fat NO. There were many empty tables however she wanted us to sit where she wanted, full stop! We finally sat down and the same thing happened with another big group, with a consequent loss of business, as they left, just to be repeated yet again with two families. It is shameful and disgraceful that this happens in this day and age. This person should never be let loose on customers as she is destroying the business and its reputation. Never to go there again. Management, do something about this person please.

We had afternoon tea which my daughter bought us to celebrate our 60th &my dad's 90th birthday. The staff where very polite & friendly plus the food was good especially the fish burgers on top . Also nice to see you take CASH & card like everybody did before Covid .

DOUBLE CHARGE YOU, DONT GO HERE **EDIT: despite filling out their form on the below reply, I'm yet to receive a response...** I came to this fish and chip shop and enjoyed some decent quality but fairly expensive food, paid for at the automated screen - however the following day I noticed a duplicate charge on my account for the shop I phoned up and was assured this was a mistake, and either I could come in for a refund or their accounts team would swiftly sort it. Due to living far away, I asked for the accounts team to sort this remotely. That was 1 month ago, and after chasing them 4 times to only 1 halfhearted response, have not yet received anything. I also attended in person where they told me they couldn’t do anything there and they’d chase their accounts team…which haven’t replied to me since I would strongly advise not going here, I understand mistakes happen but it is the complete lack of effort to sort things which is the problem

Nice place by the sea. We had a good lunch. Unfortunatly not enough fish in my cod burger (only 2 little pieces) a thin slice of tomato and a Little bit of lettuce in a big bun. The Caesar salad was good and tasty.

What an amazing fast service from this Fish and Chips shop in Bournemouth. Yummy... served fast and hot. Highly recommended.

Came here in August 2024 whilst in Bournemouth. Contactless ordering through your mobile phone via a QR code. We were lucky enough to be seated on the exterior balcony overlooking Bournemouth Beach and the pier. Ordered cod and chips: cod was fresh with great texture, chips were ok and could have been better. Venue let down by dirty glasses and we ended up drinking directly from the bottle. Portion sizes were on the small side despite ordering largest size cod on the menu.

Absolutely beautiful food, prompt service. A bit expensive though but certainly worth it.

poor quality Fish and chips and expensive, I order a large and it came like a small/medium and tasted strange ? drinks where late in coming. however the lady serving/cleaning was a great she was so lovely and she was running to get things sorted she needs a pay rise. we sat outside and it was a nice environment and view.

First time visiting a Harry Ramsden’s and I was so disappointed. The chips don’t taste great and have no flavour; like cardboard and due to the irregularities of size some are a bit on the underdone side and some very crispy. The chips were fresh and hot so that was a positive. We ordered on the self service terminal which did not have ketchup on it; we did add mayonnaise. We asked for ketchup when we got our chips to be told you didn’t add it on. We said it wasn’t on the machine. Then they said they don’t have any and we asked if they had just one to which he then pulled out one packet. The price is reasonable for the portion but I don’t understand why they’re charging for sauce. Just put huge bottles of the stuff on the condiment table. Don’t know any other chippy that charges for sauce. Also the salt and vinegar table was so messy it needed a good clean. Overall this place needs to loosen up a little and be more customer focused. And no I don’t was to contact you directly so you can make it better for me as I won’t be coming back. But you need to seriously evaluate your customer service and basic proposition.

We had a gift voucher for afternoon tea which we couldn't book on line so went into the restaurant to enquire what to do. We were told we could just use it straight away and taken to a table. The afternoon tea was amazing, the best ever. Lots of choice on there and so tasty. You also get dessert, banana fritters with biscoff sauce and mini bread and butter pudding with custard. From start to finish our experience was great, the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Will definitely be going back.

First time around this area. Decided to visit the restaurant as it claims to be the biggest fish and chips in the world. Had 6 little kids with us and 4 adults. Decided to get 2 large f&c and 3 kids meal as some of the kids don't eat fish, they can share the chips. As we were occupying the table the waiter on a quite note goes each person needs to order food normally but it's fine. How disgraceful and rude was that. If its fine then why bother saying this. Avoid with kids. For the price the food is a bit mediocre, nothing wow about it

Great view upstairs and love that you can pay and order via mobile. Food came out quickly, everything was crisp but not oily. Only problem is them the entrie place smelt like vinegar. Can't be helps. Would defo go again.

I come from a family that has a tradition of enjoying fish and chips whenever we visit the seaside. Therefore, it should not be surprising that I have been to many Harry Ramsden's restaurants, but this was my first time at the Bournemouth branch. First and foremost, I must commend the exceptional service I received. Every staff member was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to ensure that I had a pleasant experience. Naturally, I ordered fish and chips, and being originally from the North of England, I also had mushy peas. The large battered cod was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious, although the portion sizes of the chips and mushy peas were smaller than I had anticipated. Despite this minor issue, I thoroughly enjoyed my overall experience and would gladly return to this restaurant in the future.

An excellent meal, with superb service and a most congenial atmosphere. We arrived at a peak period without a booking and the Maitre d' could not have been more helpful. One small criticism - the ladies loo was having difficulties staying nice under heavy pressure.

Food was lovely it has definitely improved over the last few years went about 5 years ago and it was really not good but this time around much better very expensive so don’t expect cheap fish & chips portions are small but expensive there was 2 adults 2 children and all in with a couple soft drinks was almost £80

Having been to this place previously once, we decided to go once again for lunch however our experience this time was not good. Being lunch time it started of fairly calm then within 20 mins it was like some canteen so much noise and waiters rushing pass tables showing hardly any politeness or interest but just getting the work done. They all seemed in a rush to clear tables and get us going, but we made sure that we took our full time to complete our lunch.It’s a shame that such a lovely restaurant/location which lacks management and proper training of staff. The food is ok, could be better and portion sizes need to be reviewed.

Although it is by the beach which is a nice atmosphere, I just can’t get over how poor the food is here. The chips were soggy and old, the peas and coleslaw were disgusting tasting and overall I just would not recommend. The staff are nice enough though.

Tried the takeaway, fish and chips and the cheesy chips. Very tasty and amasing though had to spend 20 minutes standing in the line and another 10 minutes for the order but considering the sunny weather and the rush it was anticipated. It also has a restaurant upstairs which I had tried 2 years back and didn't find any change in the taste of Fish. They stand for their name. Food is nothing to write home about - one staff was confused about the order which was fine, then the white old lady gets up in my face and was incredibly belligerent and the other staff members aren’t much better. Don’t go if you want to be talked down too, and I won’t rule out racial reasons

rip off. the fish was not a regular size as I have bought at H Ramsden's OTC, it was thin, small and overly battered, with no cod taste. chips ok, mushy peas watery. fizzy drink not as ordered. others do it better and for less.

The service was great, quick, and fast, and the chips were nice and fresh. I got the chicken burger, the bun was nice quality, and the chicken was ok. Overall, the chips were on point.

Delicious food. It is pricey for a chip shop but you get really good food and a lot of it so as we had bought the kids options for the kids before and that was amazing, we had that option that day - cod bites and chips. Delicious and lovely to sit on the pier and watch the surfers with my partner. Have bought the adult meal before and there’s a lot of food there. Can’t fault the food at all and brilliant it’s right by the beach. There’s self service screens and staff service ones. Seems to work well.

It was the 1st day of a long overdue holiday and this was the prefect way to start it ! The service was superb, the food outstanding and the atmosphere prefect ! We couldn't have asked for better !

No sign up saying dogs not allowed, on a website it says they do. Apparently group friendly, dog friendly etc The person seating was very rude and not very good at customer relations Waited in the bloody rain for about 30 mins for a table to be told sorry no dogs

We had the pleasure of dining at Harry Ramsden’s on our small trip to Bournemouth, and our experiences were truly exceptional! The food was utterly delicious, with every dish we ordered being cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. We were particularly impressed by the outstanding service provided by Megan (please accept our apologies if the spelling is incorrect), whose warm and courteous demeanor made our visit even more enjoyable. Her attention to detail and hospitality were truly commendable. We highly recommend Harry Ramsden’s as a must-visit destination and look forward to returning soon to savor more of their delectable cuisine!

Absolutely overpriced rubbish food. Cod was tasteless and chips were hard. I complained but I was told it was because they were triple cooked? Fresh bowl delivered and they were equally as bad. Thank god we didn’t pay the full price of £35 (thanks to a blue light discount) for two regular cod and chips - which was tiny!! I would hate to see the size of the small. Don’t tip the staff either if you are paying by card, as they don’t receive it, apparently they have been told by management they don’t know how to separate the tips when people pay by card!

Very disappointed.on advice from staff we didn't order the over 60 special as she said they are very small ,we opted for regular fish chips and peas at £15.99 each !! What a rip off very very small side off fish and a handful off chips both husband and I pointed out to staff how small the meal was thinking we had been served wrong dish , they said was normal portion . Less than half the size we would expect for that price .guess you paying for the name not the food .pub grub up the road far superior

We were treated here for dinner by our friends. Quality of the food was good if ( as commented by my friend ) a little small with the fish. Service was attentive. A word of warning. The Eton Mess on the menu is not Eton Mess. It is a Knockerbocker Glory with a small bit of meringue in it. Just wanted to put the record straight !

We did look into eating in the restaurant but you could only book a table for 45 minutes which sounded way too rushed so decided that the essential experience of fish and chips on the beach would be much better and so opted for Harry Ramsden's take away. The ordering system using touch screens worked well and I saw people ordering at the counter too so there is that option. Even though it was busy, the service was speedy and the food was delicious. Eating on the beach as the sun went down was a great big hug of an experience.

A great location. We managed to get a window seat overlooking the beach and pier. Food was okay average fish and chips but slightly overpriced. Service was efficient but impersonal.

These days, the food portion have become miniature, almost!
