Harry Ramsden's in Bournemouth

We always look forward to having Harry Ramsden’s fish and chips when we go to Bournemouth, as we are not local and there isn’t another branch near where we live. The food was great and good portions, fresh and hot. The only downside is there is no where to eat for people with mobility issues and there is no lift. We ended up having to pay extra to sit in and eat our meal even though it’s the same place, which was odd and there was either that or be attacked by the seagulls on the beachfront. I’m not sure if there are too many members of staff working in the kitchen and not enough in the cafe, as the member of staff was on their own and there were at least 6 people serving.

I have been to this restaurant for the second time and will be going back every time I am in Bournemouth. I recommend it 100%

Had food delivered through Just Eat, very disappointed batter soggy mess onion rings dripping in oil. Left review on just eat of 1 star but just eat put it at 3.5 stars. When I asked for an explanation apparently they take into account delivery time and then come up with 3.5 stars as delivery was on time. I for one as a consumer find that very misleading. When you look at reviews you presume it only takes into account quality of food. But that is obviously not the case. So I for one will not be trusting the accuracy of star ratings.

Lovely place to visit for fish and chips by the sea.

Harry's is always a great place for fish and chips or similar, and the portions are very generous. Yes, it might be a bit expensive, but certainly no more than the same type of meal in most pubs, and the quality is far superior. We had large haddock and the plaice; both were cooked to perfection. We took a friend here on our most recent visit and were served by Carlos. He was an excellent server and even found some proper HP sauce - the last time we came they only had BBQ sauce, which just isn't right with fish and chips. The desserts were excellent too, if you have a big enough appetite!

Popped in today for a lunchtime treat £20 for regular cod and chips, mushy peas & curry sauce with a Diet Coke. Chips and mushy peas were cold some chips barely cooked. Curry sauce was ok but the only saving grace was the cod,it was delicious. This was from the takeaway part of the restaurant and I ate it on the beach next to the shop. I would suggest some urgent management retraining if they want to keep their reputation of being the best chip shop.

Refried chips It was aweful but the seagulls loved it So something good cane out if waiting 40 min for one box of chips They need younger faster staff in busy periods lie half term .

I had a concessionary 60 plus meal which was smaller than my granddaughters children's meal but nice never the less

Harry Ramsden’s offers an unforgettable dining experience! The food was absolutely delicious, from the perfectly crispy fish to the freshly cooked sides. But what really made our visit stand out was the incredible customer service. I’d like to give a special shoutout to Constantin, who went above and beyond to help me retrieve a jacket I’d accidentally left behind. His attentiveness and kindness made the experience even better! Highly recommend both the food and the exceptional staff at Harry Ramsden’s!

Had the afternoon tea, enjoyable but my only negative was everything was fried so by the time we got to desserts we really didn’t want another fried element of the banana fritter. I would have preferred a bigger slice of the bread and butter pudding with the biscoff biscuit. It was so cold in the restaurant too so had to sit with our coats on so it wasn’t a warm atmosphere inside but other than that we would go back again

Served by both Carlos and Inga Carlos gave us a very friendly welcome and cleared our plates when finished. Very friendly and positive. Inga took our order and checked on us when we had our food. Very entice and friendly. All staff we engaged with were very friendly and had fabulous customer service. Food was really good and exceeded expectations. Perfect portion sizes we only needed a small to feel more than full. Would definitely come back. They also had a great playlist in the background which we very much enjoyed.

Late in the season but still the best seaside restuarant in the south, Carlos looked after us and made us feel welcome, not our first visit, but treated the same by Carlos 6 years ago at our last visit, a true asset to HR, don't let this man go, he is the tops!!!

Nice place by the sea. We had a good lunch. Unfortunatly not enough fish in my cod burger (only 2 little pieces) a thin slice of tomato and a Little bit of lettuce in a big bun. The Caesar salad was good and tasty.

Fantastic fish and great food. brilliant service..very happy and good sense of humour ..we only had card and card machine didn't seem adapted for a tip which was a shame

Return visit to Bournemouth's Harry Ramsden's after many years & it was just as wonderful as we remembered. Our fish & chips were fantastic & the service was very efficient & friendly. The colouration on the photo is just the reflection of the beautiful stained glass windows.

Afternoon Tea - A triumph - well done team. Unique. Good food. Well cooked. Served efficiently. Might have swapped the banana fritters for lemon tart - bit too much fried food in one go and had bread and butter fingers.

The food was lovely, fresh and at a beautiful location. Staff were very friendly and attentive despite it being busy. We had small cod and chips. I had a pot of tea and husband had a coke. How did we miss this before , we live local to Bournemouth and never noticed this right by the beach until today. We will be back when we next stay in Bournemouth. Highly recommend this place to eat.

Very unwelcoming, waiter/ manager couldn’t be bothered to be there, was rude. The food was cold and bland. Won’t be returning, utterly disappointing

Traditional fish and chips by the sea on a balcony overlooking the beach. What more could you ask fore. We had the Cod and Haddock and both were superb, light crispy batter with all the accompaniments. Delicious food with good service for a decent price.

Fantastic fish and chips. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the chips were top lushness. Great views sat outside on a warm late October sunny day. Staff very good, but took us ages to pay. It was busy so not moaning . Will be going back here 👍👍

Lovely experience, banging fish and chips!

What a lovely place to have a meal, we sat overlooking the sea and the food was 1st class. Fish and chips as it should be cooked. Our waiter Carlos was very friendly and helpful as were the other staff who brought our food and drinks.

While we ordered and ate our pretty mediocre fish and chips, an Asian couple came in and were served near to us. They did not speak English clearly and were trying to get the waiter to assist them. In short, the waiter was loud, impatient and offensive to this couple, unnecessarily so. I found his attitude and management both offensive and embarrassing. Won’t go there again. We went at around 2pm on 16th October 2024. You will know who the waiter is and give him some appropriate training.

The view to the pier is great! If you book a table ask for a sefront view. Fish is alright! Chips could be better! It’s chain food.

the driver did not speak. english. my friend watched him for 10 minutes going in and out of the building.. not realising the order was mine..I asked him *do you speak English? and he said *no, just a little* the food was barely warm..fish and chips need to be eaten hot...

We visited Harry Ramsdens twice and on both occasions was treated very well. The staff were attentive, but not intrusive and the food was out of this world. I am so very glad I asked for the small cod and chips as the portion was absolutely spot on. My husband went for the Battered sausage and chips and the portion was enormous. Desserts were fantastic too. The toilets were exceptionally clean. Highly recommend a visit. Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere and brilliant staff.

Had fish and chips which was good but quite expensive. Not sure if there was a problem with staffing on the day (Sunday) but our drinks didn't arrive until after we had finished eating our food. We then also had to chase several times for a dessert. The staff were pleasant but struggling with the workload.

Food was hot, delicious and served promptly. My server Megan was a delight! Will be coming back!

Last of the summer day Bournmouth was very nice on the beach Harry Ramsden's haddock and chips also nice.

Haven’t been to Harry Ramsdens for many years as the service was always terrible. Got given an afternoon tea voucher so decided we would give it a go again. Afternoon tea was great, made a real change to the normal place we end up with the kids and was great to try a little bit of everything. I would recommend it. However, the service is still terrible. After being seated we waited 20mins before our order was taken and only then because we asked. Main course and drinks turned up promptly but we had to wait 40mins after finishing to get our deserts, despite asking 4 times! Enjoyed the food, but the service is not great, but if you get the opportunity to try the afternoon tea I suggest giving it a go….but don’t expect it to be a ‘quick’ lunch, allow at least 2 1/2 hrs.

Group of 5 adults. We were refused to order only drinks without meals. Never heard before about that policy. We went to the takeaway and ordered drinks. The coffees were terrible though.

Great place and the food was awesome. It was a lovely sunny day so we sat outside but the whole restaurant is on the sea front so even inside the views are lovely. The service was quik and the staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back there.

Afternoon tea at the Bournemouth restaurant was excellent! We didn’t know what to expect but the variety of bite size battered favourites was very nicely presented and really tasty! As was the desert…and the cocktail was welcome too! Thanks to Jade for excellent service…she was 5 star having put right a kitchen delay for us. Thank you.

This was our 1st night out after arriving in Bournemouth for a short break. While there where a few issues at the start of our time here I want to thank Ellen for all her hard work putting everything right. She went above and beyond to turn a poor start into an excellent evening ! The food was (as always), superb and the service excellent ! Thanks again to Harry Ramsden's for another great meal and especially HUGE THANKS to Ellen once again for going above and beyond to turn our evening around !

First time visit on 21 Sep 2024, to use Red Letter Gift Voucher that my wife bought me for my birthday. We had the Afternoon Fish & Chip Tea with Prosecco. Excellent food and Service. Lovely sunny day was also a bonus. We were also watching other meals being served, all looked good. We will be returning for sure. Many thanks to all working there today.

Indescribably inhuman, it took them more than half an hour to get my food, it took so long that my friends only one waited for me because he was also waiting, I honestly wouldn't recommend this place because of how long it took, it gets a star, I hope they close the place.

Lovely food and staff but not enough of them to keep up with demand. Staff taking orders and returning to the kitchen without cleaning vacated tables on the way is not efficient use of personnel. Had to ask staff for dessert after waiting 20 mins+. Also policy on dogs not clear. Sign outside said explicitly No dogs (except assistance)however there was a dog next to my table and the guests ordered a jumbo sausage and fed it to the dog at the table. Not good

Terrible, ordered on the touch screen transaction went through no problem gave us an order number. Waited about 5 minutes for our order didn’t come up on the screen so we ask, turns out it didn’t go through the system. They said that we would be refunded and I have no idea when. We ended up using cash because we did not trust their system. Apart from that the food was nice.

Excellent fish and chips good service

Me and my fiancee and our boy get there around lunch time today. When we get there it was really busy. We ordered and to our surprise we get our food really quickly. The food was really taisty and fresh. The waiter was polite and came throught our meal to make sure we have everything we need. Overall, was a great experience and we would make sure to come back with more family members and friends. Lots of thanks to the staff!
