I am absolutely disgusted with the owner of this hotel the hotel is in a terrible state the amount of hair u could find while walking around the hotel was shocking it was even in the rooms the bathrooms and in the beds mould on walls light fittings with tape over in the children's rooms dirty showers we even found hair in our food the reception staff are rude and do not care about you 1 bit we didn't even get greated when we arrived the heating in the room did not work either and also there was a light in the children's bedroom that had no bulb in and we asked the girl if it was live and her answer was I dunno its been like that for ages we told her of our concerns and she didn't really care she said either stay in here or don't but we had no choice as the other room we went in first was worse than this one she said its either this room or none so we didn't have a choice as we had 2 kids with us a thought it was fair on them to up and leave with nowhere else in place and we had just paid £152 for 1 night stay I have tried to get a refund for our appalling stay but the hotel blatantly lied to get out of paying it never again would I entertain this place they call a hotel it should be called dirty dean not durley dean

My wife and I came to visit this hotel in 2019 and with issues in the restaurant our stay was most mediocre at best. Sadly on our recent visit (booked by my wife for 29th October to 31st October 2024) our stay was again not so great. On our arrival on 29th October 2024 we were met by the receptionist who was rather abrupt and we felt as though we were an inconvenience for wanting to book in this was around 15.30 on the day, no greeting, the first words uttered (after my wife and I stood there looking at each other for when we would be greeted) was “Name” not even a hello or warm welcome to the Durley Dean. We got our card key (just the one) for room 153 and the only direction given was “up on the first floor” despite this, we thanked her and walked to our room (as a previous visitor I was well aware of where the room would be, despite no clear instruction from the receptionist). So we entered our room and all looked great, but sadly we immediately started to see little things which soon amounted to cause me to write this review. First we noted there was nowhere to hang our overcoats, each day we had to hang them on the backs of the mismatched chairs, again we mustered on with our stay thinking oh well not really worth a complaint for something so trivial (although I would suggest putting coat hooks up somewhere, as wet coats in the wardrobe could damage the wood or a persons clothes). We dropped our cases and left to explore Bournemouth, it wasn’t till the next day that we realised there were further problems, we went down for breakfast pre booked from the day before and were seated by a window, which was slightly open and causing a chill to my wife and I, to find it could not be closed, we mentioned this to a member of staff but nothing was done about it so we hurried and quickly returned to our room to freshen up for the day. We then started to uncover issues of cleanliness within our room, on the surface and at a glance the room looked great, but sadly this was not to last as my OCD kicked in: on checking the room more closely we found black mould around the windows, dirty floors, dusty ledges, stained curtains, I went down to reception but was faced with a long queue of people, not wanting to waste my day, I returned upstairs and my wife and I went out, we purchase some antibacterial wipes while we were out and cleaned what we could to avoid making a fuss with the unaproachable non-friendly reception staff. That night we had to sleep with the window open to avoid any respiratory issues from the black mould, which didn’t aid a good nights sleep from the noise and cold air causing us to have to pull the heavy covers over our heads to try and sleep. On our final day, after a restless nights sleep due to my OCD and the room overall cleanliness we thought to get a few hours sleep in the morning before leaving at checkout time of 1100am, only to be rudely awoken by the housekeepers knocking at the door, then a second time around 0900 asking us what time we were leaving, I have to admit, my wife was not very polite when she retorted at checkout time. This made us again feel unwelcome in this hotel Not long after this we went for breakfast and returned to pack up our belongings and leave and discovered after taking one of the scatter cushions of the top of the wardrobe to discover the navy blue cushion was smothered in dust! We then booked out and left the hotel feeling quite disgusted with the whole visit. On returning home, both my wife and I developed chesty coughs and running noses and I developed eye irritation in both eyes (which according to my GP is a direct cause of mould exposure! The Hotel responded to my complaint with a condescending denial that there were any issues and blamed us for not reporting them, flatly denying that there was black mould in the room. You be the judge, the pictures I think are quite clear

DO NOT STAY HERE! I booked in last month. I was shown two rooms, which were both outdated and filthy. Thick dust, hair in the baths, bed, and carpet. Even dog food on the floor in the first room. Blood spots on the bedsing in the second room was the final straw. Staff seemed not to be bothered and I have been refused a refund. Not only for the room I didnt stay in but the breakfast I prepaid extra for at checkin, which I didnt eat. And the 24hrs parking which I only used for an hour. To make matters worse, the manager, Mr Feasey, claims there was no record of me being at the hotel. Which is either a lie or a concerning GDPR breach. Honestly, the worst experience I've had in any accommodation UK or abroad.

Would strongly advise not to waste you money or time going to the Durley Dean hotel for a “spa day” not only is it all in the basement so no fresh air or natural daylight, but there is no where to chill and relax hard benches by the pool only for a single person (not great when your having a spa day with a friend), bathrooms dirty, waiting treatment area is small, uncomfortable and smells stuffy with a ticking clock, not even any drinking water, you can choose to “chill” in their bar area that is open to the public in the bar. When the issues were raised on the day they were putting my complaint to the manger. Not only was his dismissive via emails but also rude and would not acknowledge information was misleading (as to what a SPA day is) and was not accurately (consumer rights) Would recommend spending a little extra money for a much better local relaxing SPA experience

Great hotel and value for money. Family friendly, and excellent service from all staff. The hotel is dated but it appears to be been modernized not too long ago. For the most part, a very good choice for a family trip to Bournemouth. Location is ok but it’s not close to shops or restaurants, but that was not a big deal for us. The family room we had was not easy to access with a stroller / pram, but it was not overly complicated either. It’s not clear if there’s a ramp for the stroller, or a wheelchair. The breakfast was on the expensive side so we did not try it but it seemed popular. Overall, a good spot with attentive staff at the desk and throughout the hotel. The bed was very comfortable, I wonder if the hotel can tell me what type / brand topper was in place in our room.

The trip was full of difficulties made worse by a 5 day national rail strike. Luckily I stayed at the Durley Dean Hotel for one night and for service and location this hotel is second to none. All the staff were absolutely brilliant and understanding , a real credit to Bournemouth, but a special mention to Philip and Wisdom on night duty who were terrific. First impressions are that the building is quite run down. There is one lift, it’s extremely small and doubt a large pushchair would fit. No security into the building. You can just wander in (the front door was broken also) and go up to the rooms at your leisure. Carpets tired, worn and filthy. After we found our room we were happy with the size of the bedroom and bathroom. It was a quick throw in of the bags and then down to the bar. Nearly broke an ankle on a hole/ uneven part of the floor on the way in. Bar is dark and dirty. Chairs pretty grim. There looks to be black mould above the windows and a burnt/ scorch mark near a plug socket. A friend got a round of drinks in, lads behind the bar looked at each other like they didn’t know what to do; the Guinness wasn’t working and the lad behind the bar asked us how we was supposed to serve Baileys. Got back to the hotel after going out for a meal with our group and it was time to inspect the room. The level of dust was immense. The room was covered in cobwebs. Every skirting board was black with dust and muck. Carpet looked as though it hadn’t been vacuumed and you couldn’t walk anywhere in the room without the floor boards making ungodly creaking noises. Torn wallpaper. The sugars in the tea tray were rock solid so had obviously been wet before and not replaced. Bedding seemed clean, but there was no pillow protectors which felt unhygienic. Bed was very creaky. Thankfully the air con worked which was a god send because the building felt very humid and close. The desk was quite damaged and the chair for it was also filthy with dust. Good TV however and the Wi-Fi worked a treat. Hair dryer worked fine, there was a little wardrobe that didn’t close properly but it would do the job if you wanted to use it. Bathroom: grim. Loads of grout missing between the floor tiles/ some tiles cracked so felt hazardous for our feet. The toilet seat was stained. The tap was stained on the sink. Limescale EVERYWHERE; the taps, the shower head, the shower controls and a little metal shelf for putting your toiletries on were disgusting. The glass shower door was filthy, didn’t fit properly and was mouldy. The tiles felt slimy and there was clearly some fluids from previous inhabitants left on the tiles and on the grout. There was so much limescale on the shower that half of the shower head water holes were blocked up. There was a dirty/ drainage smell around the toilet and again all the skirting boards were filthy. The toilet wouldn’t flush unless you kept your finger on the button and the drain in the sink was so slow that running the tap for more than 30 seconds filled the sink completely. And it must clearly be an issue throughout the building because the amount of temporary repairs and water staining on the ceiling was crazy! Bring your own towels because the only ones they have are just about big enough to wrap around a toddler. No bath mat provided, inside the bath was extremely slippy and full of paint patches and the filth around the plug hole was grim. There was a box on the wall that was body wash/ shampoo but it was coated in mould. Extractor fan didn’t seem to be working. First night we soon realised that there was a huge gap under the door into the hallway. You could actually see under it and into the hallway so that didn’t feel quite so safe or private and of course you could hear everything and everyone on the other side of it. Also made us feel a little worried as if there was a fire, this definitely wouldn’t be an effective fire door. Asked for our room to be serviced on our second day. They just made our bed, not new sheets. Gave us another loo roll and emptied the bins. I had spilled some sugar on the desk in the morning and came back to the room after the room being “serviced” to the sugar all over the floor. We got a bath mat this time round though. The breakfast provided was mediocre. Nice sausages, bacon and mushrooms. Coffee was pretty poor and you had to go through a few cups to find a properly cleaned one. Some cereals available too.

We purchased a Dreamtree deal for two “spa” days including massages, on arrival we were told the car park was £15 for 24 hours and they don’t offer an hourly rate, so for the 2 hours we were there this is extortionate, you also are asked for £20 deposit on robes, which I’m not sure why robes are provided as there is no “spa” what there is is a dingy dirty waiting room with no water facilities/tea/coffee, the pool is not like the pictures on the website and to top it all there is nowhere to sit in the “spa” the area is really dirty and to be honest we had our massage and left! There is no access for disabled people, it is disrespectful and discriminatory when you book a dinner reservation and the restaurant was closed for a Christmas party and we were put in a room by ourselves (My grandmother, younger sister and I) and had nobody in it, we had to ask for room service to eat dinner by ourselves in our room. Nobody told us we had to eat separately,in a cold room, that looked like it was ready for a business meeting. It was completely empty. We had to wait half an hour just to order our food, I had to go to reception and tell them how long we'd been waiting before the man that sat is down came back to take our order Never am I coming to the restaurant and the hotel again. However, one of the ladies at the reception were amazing and helped us move rooms so it is easier for my Nan to walk (she has knee problems and a doctor's check up that required a needle to be put in her knees). She helped us move our bags into the new room and was lovely overall. Again, it was not a pleasant stay here for us and my poor nan who booked this for us to have a nice couple of days with her granddaughters before she left to go travel and she was left humiliated and I felt it second hand.

Service was the big let down. Seated quickly then a wait for drinks, Then a long wait for starters, which the manager apologised for saying the starters would not be charged for. The decor was good and the food was of good quality, well cooked and presented well. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from within walking distance like tapas over the road, Italian 3 mins away and a very nice Thia about 10 mins walk but worth it.If you are a resident this is an ok place to eat if you do not want to go out and about.

The food is superb, nicely arranged on the plate and not that expensive. Can highly recommend the sea bass and wild mushroom tagliatelle.

Friendly willing staff and tasty food but an average experienced when considering cost. Arrived 10 mins before it opened with a hungry toddler but were not able to come in and sit down. No one was serving at the bar so snacks weren't an option either. The food was very nice albeit slightly unusual as my wife's risotto was made with long grain rice as opposed to arborio. Described as 'light with a bite and quite refreshing' (thankfully). We had loads of excess cutlery lying around during the meal which got on my nerves. My chicken and mash was lovely. My daughters tomato pasta was way too big and not nearly saucy enough. Her garlic bread was more sensibly sized and tasty - she couldn't eat it though as it came with melted cheese which wasn't stated on the menu. I would definitely eat here again, but only with a big all adult group...and if I was drinking wine as I despise having to buy table water for £4 a pop.

How can they ruin such potentially good ingredients? My partner and I had different main courses and both of them were below the standards we are accustomed to.

Liked the efficiency of the young staff. The food was very good and helpings quite sufficient. Though the waiters/'esses, were of Eastern European origin, they had an almost better command of the English language than us from Yorkshire.!

Great food, good service. It was surprisingly good, because it was not on Trip Advisor and the hotel does not really mention it. I thought this meant it was dire, but the food was delicious and varied.Definitely will go again

Great venue for a fun night or meal. We had the 3 dish tapas deal which was good value and very nice. Service is fun, friendly and efficient. It's a nice big buzzing venue with plenty of space. Good for drinks or dinner the food here is fresh and are also generous portions.

Had a really nice meal from there went in early for a breakfast. Bartender was friendly and happy to help however the only reason I can't give 5 stars is the manager was rude to me and my friends while we were near the Pepsi machine as when we were waiting for the bartender to change the Pepsi which the manager was aware of and the manager said what are you waiting for and it made me and my freind uncomfortable!
