Excelente restaurante de pescado con papas fritas. Recogimos una comida para llevar el sábado por la noche, mi acompañante tenía merluza y yo roca. El pescado estaba perfectamente cocinado y la masa crujiente y ligera. Las patatas fritas eran excelentes al igual que la salsa tártara casera. El personal del mostrador era amable y atractivo, lo que hace toda la diferencia. No puedo esperar para ir de nuevo.

¡Esto se ha convertido en un restaurante de pescado con papas fritas! Puede estar super ocupado, así que espere una espera porque no se puede reservar. Hay una selección de especialidades, cerveza en grifo y vino disponible. Especiales de la hora del almuerzo y también patatas fritas sin fondo! (Si puedes manejarlo) las porciones son generosas y el pescado siempre sabe muy fresco. . se ha convertido en uno de los favoritos para llevar a nuestros padres cuando visitan. . . No he probado una comida para llevar, pero siempre está ocupado, así que debe ser igualmente bueno! La comida y la experiencia hace que sea una buena relación calidad-precio.

No comí en el restaurante como llegó a Bournemouth demasiado tarde, así que había comida para llevar. El pescado era increíble al igual que los pasteles de pescado caseros.

Fue recomendable, pero no lo que esperábamos, Luke pescado caliente con masa empapada. Los peces grandes no eran más grandes de lo normal, pero ¿£ 3 más? Té muy caro, gracias pero no para nosotros.

Disappointed in the chips . Didn't seem like old fashioned potato's sliced and fried into chips . ( just my thoughts . Not stating it as a fact ) .

We have just been for lunch and once again it was a fantastic visit. The staff are fantastic and the lunchtime special didn't disappoint! We were seated by Sally and served by Trey who was friendly and efficient and we also loved how Fred's son took time out to have a chat with an elderly lady called "Carol" who is obvsiously a regular there, she may have only spoke to the staff there that day and it made her day!! We always have a lovely experience when we visit and couldn't recommend it more! Well done guys, see you soon!

Whenever I visit my mum in Bournemouth this place gets a visit. Fish and chips from here are the best!!! Add some curry sauce to your meal and it’s even better 😄

Great Christmas eve gluten free fish n chips. A bit of a wait as you can't book but worth it. Good service, good food, sone tables can be a bit small for 4, be good to have a gluten free roll and curry sauce too

Five star fish and chips. Super service too. We eat at Chez Fred’s every time we visit Bournemouth and, if you enjoy fish and chips as much as me, I doubt you’ll find better in any other seaside town in the UK. Good value drinks - try a bottle of Piddle beer brewed in Piddlehinton. Label on the bottle says “goes well with fish and chips”, and it did!

Finally visited. Was expecting long queues at 6pm (family waited an hour in August) but got in straight away. We ordered 2 medium haddock with chips and cod with chips together with rolls and butter. Fish was delicious and we were offered more chips. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

First visit today. Was very impressed. My Irish Mother loved the Barry's Tea. Food was perfect, fresh and hot. Highly recommended 10/10👍👍

We visited 'Chez Fred' in Westbourne after moving down her last year. We have enjoyed their home deliveries and wanted to try their eat in offerings. After the Westbourne Community Christmas Lights switch on on Saturday we walked straight in despite being busy were offered a table. We opted for the large Cod fish and Chips meal which was amazing and great value at £18. It consisted of fish and chips, green peas/baked beans , crisp bread rolls and butter, half pint of estrella and a coffee afterwards. It was excellent, the service first class and scrumpcious food. One can understand how it is so busy , plus all the takeaways aswell. Can't wait to come back, a first class establishment.

Great fish and chips with mussy peas!

Fish was good. Chips were in need of 4 or 5 minutes longer in the fryer. Limp, pale chips is a poor effort especially when they were cooked to order. Curry sauce nice but sweet. Chap at the front was pleasant.

Best fish and chips in Bournemouth :) we have always got our take away from here and it’s always been great. You can order online and then pick up when it’s ready so it’s convenient!

Really delicious fish and chips here, wish I lived closer to go again. Easy order and collection service. The premises were spotlessly clean with a welcoming atmosphere. The lads serving were very friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy working there.

First time I have had a takeaway from Chez Fred and it will be the last , soggy batter, chips looked like they were scraps , scampi overcooked, mushy peas cold . For over £30 very dissatisfied.

You'll never get anywhere as good as these Fish and Chips. I've been coming here for years since I was 7. I'm 24 now I'm getting old. 🤣 Me and my parents come on holiday all the way from South Yorkshire Barnsley to Pool Bournemouth. Its a firm favourite of mine and everything is just perfect. You get a lunchtime special that includes a pot of tea, regular fish and chips with sauces, bread and butter and unlimited chips. For 3 people it cost us nearly 40 pounds or just over. That's a good deal compared to other resteraunts that are a lot more expensive these days. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and service, very good prices

After all the years that it's been open it still maintains its exceptionally high standards. Most importantly, the food is wonderful. Service is exemplary. I hate the American "tip everywhere" culture which has unfortunately been brought to this country but this is one of the places that actually deserves a little extra thank you to the staff. The restaurant and facilities are spotlessly clean. You cannot book a table so be prepared to wait in the queue; it's worth it!

We stopped here yesterday after a day trip. The fish was outstanding. Crispy batter and fish melts in mouth. Large haddock is massive! Great prices considering the portion size. Best fish n chips I've had in sometime. Will make the drive from London more often when I fancy fish n chips. Staff was friendly and attentive, lovely people. We had takeaway, but I was impressed by how clean the restaurant was. Highly recommend Chez Fred!

A fabulous upscale chippy with daily special and not just the regular cod and plaice. I had the Cornish Hake and my partner had haddock. Batter was light and crispy. Fish was fresh and flaky. Chips was not soggy. We ordered mushy peas and curry sauce to go with our meal. Both was delicious 😋. Highly recommended. They care about what they serve. Staff was efficient and friendly. Seating to wait for takeaways. It’s very busy and you can see why. Not pricey.

Visited again and was disappointed, lovely cod and chips, really friendly and helpful staff. My only one gripe was no tomato sauce bottle on the table, me and my friend like a lot of sauce on our fish and chips, we had to keep asking the serving staff for more sauce as it only comes in very small amounts.

Best fish and chips ever (according to friends and family who eat fish). Whenever friends visit I take them here. I can personally vouch for the halloumi and chips being amazing. As are the onion rings. Been here many times now, always great service. Lovely staff. Great atmosphere. Always super busy (a good sign!). One suggestion would be for a vegetarian battered sausage. Vegetarians are often bored of burgers, so that would be a fun option for us and a real point of difference! :)

Went here last night for regular fish and chips to takeaway, it was packed out in the restaurant and the takeaway. The service was very quick, a very slick, professional service by the team of guys taking orders, cooking and serving all the orders out to the customers. The food was absolutely stunning, the fish was bright white, the batter was perfect and the chips were delicious. And the price is actually lower than other fish and chip restaurants, £20 for 2 regular fish and chips takeaway. What a brilliant gem of a food outlet for Bournemouth. Well done team, the whole system was perfection. I'm back next week for sure, everyone must experience this place.

Nice fish and chips, especially the fish, but for veggies the banana blossom is terrible, was very hard. Also only gave 1 mushy peas when 2 were ordered.

Fab as always food excellent quality all staff very helpful with young family few Grandchildren accommodated us v well always look forward to visiting annually as live good 2hrs away Look fwd to going all year! Visiting Westbourne is definitely the place to go for fish & chips. Unlimited double cooked chips. Specials fish board. Free still & sparkling water. Can't reserve a table, but place your name at the door and wait for a table to become free. Also, takeaway available.

Came here on a Friday evening. You put your name down and the kind waitresses will let you know the estimated wait time. We were told 30 minutes but was around 20-25. We ordered the catch of the day and the cod and chips. We ordered some small sides such as peas, pickle bread and butter roll (the latter was forgotten but I won't dwell on that). The food arrived quick and fresh. Up there with one of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The unlimited chips were a bonus. We ordered their choc ice cream because you just can't end a meal without something sweet. Didn't come with my flake but again really happy with the food and friendly service and highly recommend anyone to come here.

Fred wasn't in the night we went (the word was he was having in large with the boys in Zante) but you wouldn't have known it. Served by Amir and trust me he can fry a nice bit of fish. Well done to Fred and the Fish & Chip team, you're putting in quite the shift chaps.

The service is always friendly and quick and the food is always hot and fresh. It's the perfect local chippy.. Anyone craving authentic, no-nonsense fish and chips when in the area should pop in, it’s become my go-to place when I’m in visiting friends in Bournemouth. Highly recommended!

Greeted by a lovely lady . She showed us to a table and left menus. We ordered the cod and chips. The haddock and chips. We could see it all being freshly cooked. It was really busy. Fab atmosphere here. Diet coke was flat and tasteless so it was returned and I was given a different coke. Tartare sauce tasted very mayonnaise rather than tartare sauce. Both meals were hot. Cooked to perfection. Highly recommend you come here. Staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Over priced and under cooked. The food van was a complet mess. With a worker that never washed thier hands, but used a tea towel to clean their hands every time they touched raw fish. The oil was dirty, the chips were greasy and over cooked. I don't think it's worth the price for really bad food.

We had the lunch time special great fish cod the batter was excellent super value meal with cup of tea and a roll and mushy peas faultless service from the staff everything came together and was well presented the chips were ok and you can have as many as you want overall an excellent Friday lunch 👍👍👍

Totally lovely meal. Staff great. Had lunchtime special. Queued but only for couple of minutes. Very busy. We travelled the open top bus to get here for our lunch out on recommendation. Not disappointed. Roll butter tea or coffee fish chips mushy peas. Tartare sauce on asking too. Also had portion onion rings just to see if they were as good as we had been told. Yes they were. Cod in batter was the best Ive had in years lovely white flakes crispy batter. Delicious. Chips a tad disappointed colour a little too light for me but tasted ok. Definitely the cod was wonderful. The staff is very attentive and professional. They knew how long approximately we would have to wait to be seated based on the amount of people on our table. Service was fast with attention to details. Very friendly people. Recommend to visit. Parking in nearby areas is required as they're located on a busy road. For lunch they have a good deal.

One of the freshest fish and the best and most delicious chips I've ever eaten. You can have a trip to Bournemouth just for this. To my surprise, they even serve alcohol which is amazing. Unfortunately long wait to be seated but it's totally worth it!

My sister and brother-in-law visited us from London, and we took them to Chez Fred for lunch on Friday, 30th August. We were warmly greeted by a member of staff (unfortunately, she wasn’t wearing a name badge, but I remember her bright orange trainers) who had a contagious smile and made us feel instantly welcome. Trae served us, and he was incredibly friendly, attentive, and took great care to meet our needs. We were all very impressed with the quality of the food, and Jaz was especially kind, making sure to refill my mother’s coffee. A big thank you to the owner and management for maintaining such excellent quality and value, even during these times of high inflation. Chez Fred, you serve the best fish and chips we’ve ever had!

Went after reading rave reviews online whilst on holiday with the family. The initial service was great although 30 minutes wait to get fish, chips and peas twice plus 2 battered sausages was a little insane, I appreciate they are busy but in Yorkshire this would never happen. Speaking of Yorkshire, the fish was literally half the size of those I would normally get! All in all really good quality food if you can wait half an hour and order extra to make up for the small size!!

Recently visited Chez Fred on a day trip to Bournemouth after searching for the best place for fish and chips in town... we were not disappointed! We arrived at around 16:50 on a sunny Saturday, and the restaurant was almost full. We were warmly greeted and given a choice of the available tables (a nice touch!). Once seated we were attended to quickly and put our orders in. The restaurant got pretty busy while we were there, and the takeaway side seemed pretty busy too, but the atmosphere remained pleasant. Our food arrived within a reasonable time and was absolutely amazing! Everything was piping hot. The chips were super crispy and lovely when doused in salt and vinegar. The cod was extremely flaky and meaty, and the batter was wonderfully crisp and not at all greasy. The curry sauce was also very good! We were asked if we wanted extra chips (which are unlimited!) and were happily given an extra bowl. All the staff were super smiley and happy to help, checking everything with our meal was okay partway throught. I would highly recommend Chez Fred to anyone wanting some amazing fish and chips - it is definitely worth the walk away from the main town!

Says online they do best gluten free. But on arriving told this was only available on Tuesdays. I had steamed fish and risked the chips. Mistake. The steamed fish was like rubber as overcooked. I should not have risked the chips...terrible indigestion. Followed by terrible headache and swollen glands.

Trae, Sophie, Jaz, Kinga, Sarah are all really impressive. The food is wonderful, service is outstanding. Such a great team. We come here whenever we visit Bournemouth, and they never fail.
