Amazing roast dinner 1st time going here was a blues open mic afternoon was fantastic

Got into an argument with a taxi driver (over a girl) outside and ended up stepping on a nail when I was flipping him off. Incredibly embarrassing but a member of staff removed the nail and was very lovely about the whole thing. They also alerted me to an unusual rash on my leg, and it turns out I have lupus! Great selection of ales

Amended on 14/10/2024 I wanted to experience the same time I had one week ago ie good food and ecellentlent service however upon my repeat experience i experienced a nightmare. My time this time was caused by very poor front of house ie they seaved my food so late that i had to leave before i had a time to eat,What a shame as the kitchen was excellent. I booked my table for 1630 but my food was not served by 1700 so I cancelled and left , i feel for this establishments as wanted to bring my family to eat here I should like to add to this old review... I revisited the pub on 13/10/2024 and upon waiting at the bar (which was EXTREAMLY busy, the bar was rammed with OAP's and their tradesmen famliesdogs.students.tradesmen with their young families and buggies ALL of which all were smiling) I was given a polite courteous professional welcome by one of the bar staff who served me a delicious pint. The difference in contrast to my previous visit was immediately apparent and such an improvement... all was forgiven. As i have mentioned the front of house staff had a heavy work load yet on the surface all appeared calm and professional. I ordered my food and was met with nothing but courtesy and professionalism, and boy was it good. the newish chef certainly knew his onions ... and his carrots, broccally, roast beef ect... well done chef it was sensational. All in all a very pleasant experience, a perfect sojourn on a Sunday afternoon. Thank you Lewes Road Inn.

today i had the pleasure of trying a few menu items from the lewes inn road. the vvvvegwroni pizza was the first one, i’ve tried multiple vegan pizzas before and this definitely is on my top 3. i find most places struggle to find a decent vegan cheese especially mozzarella but this place definitely is my favourite. Upon first sight I did not realise that it was vegan! I found that the vegan pepperoni was extremely flavourful especially paired with the hot agave syrup! next we tried the matador, which was a delicious pizza filled with veggies, chorizo and aioli. i found the textures of the crispy chorizo with the flavours of the pepper and red onion really made the pizza for me. As an aioli lover, I throughly enjoyed it on the pizza! we shared the hallo we miso you burger afterwards, i found the flavours of the garlic mushroom and the chilli butter really enhanced the taste of the halloumi. my favourite part of the burger was definitely the tomato chutney. my second favourite dish was the the return of the mac burger. which was my two favourite dishes combined, mac and cheese and cheese burgers!! i have not seen a pub do this before and was absolutely astounded by it. a breaded deep fried mac and cheese patty smothered in marinara sauce and mozzarella, definitely not for those who are lactose intolerant! my fiances favourite dish was the dirty schnitzel. which was a chicken burger with bacon, bbq sauce and aioli. Also paired with the traditional toppings from a chicken burger! the chicken burger was so juicy and tasty. finally we tried the herbivore burger which was a vegan alternative. my partner absolutely loved this burger, as someone who loves high volume meat dishes this was surprising to me. we did not know it was vegan until he’d finished it! i absolutely loved the sweet chilli mayonnaise incorporated.

Very good, friendly service from the young man behind the bar. Food was standard pub fayre, but cooked and presented well. Nice size portions.

I hired the function area for a wake, with a hot fork buffet. The staff were sympathetic and responsive. The food was great with generous portions. The venue was the right mix of quiet and atmospheric. I'd definitely like to return on a happier occasion.

Wow - what a lovely pub. It'd been a little hammered recently by the look of the beer glasses on some of the taps - but that's probably indicative of the esteem people hold this place in. Great decor. Friendly service. And a decent beer garden by the looks, but sadly it was lashing down when I went so I just looked forlornly at it from inside. Also, I like the cats on the wall.

Pub Quiz is the best in Brighton. Outside of that the food is great, drinks are decently priced ( especially if you’re a student) and the atmosphere is nice.

Absolutely exceptional Sunday roast. Roast topside of beef cooked perfectly, decent roasties and a massive Yorkshire pudding, all coupled with roasted beetroot and carrots and red and white cabbage and plenty of gravy. Excellently seasoned. Visited as our son lives nearby and had recommended, he wasn't wrong! Looking forward to next visit to Brighton just so we can enjoy again!

Met family here and had absolutely delicious food. Great beer and fantastic atmosphere. If I was a student in Brighton I would be there every day for their meal specials.

Prices are ridiculous. Less student deals, more deals for locals or NHS staff maybe? Can’t drink in here when we want to as the prices are just unjustified. Would like to come to open mics or quizzes but we avoid it as it’s the most expensive pub in the area

Great ambience. Good range of lagers and IPAs. The place really kicks into the groove over weekends with live performances. Cheerful folks around. Makes it one of the favourite places.

Nice airy pub with outdoor seating back and front, good selection on the menu, don't bother with the chips have crisps instead, it's a pity that the chef does not know the menu, it would help getting the order right.

Fine place for a quick, refreshing cider in the sunshine and watch the world go by on Lewes Road. There's an enclosed beer garden at the back if you want a quieter, traffic free area to relax in.

Our apartment was close so, after a long day of travelling, we decided to go in there for a chill night. Staff was lovely, pints were at the average price for Brighton, and the music was excellent. Overall vibe super friendly

Nice big pub with a good fun vibe, especially on a Tuesday night when they hold a well organised and fun pub quiz. Food is not excellent but good. 2 cocktails for £12 on Thursdays. Chicken tacos in the photo. Overall a good experience.

Friendly staff, great selection of alcoholic and non alcholic drinks, plenty of food options including a new brunch menu - great for families! Loads of space for prams, outdoor area, games and drawing stuff for the kids and much to my delight CLEAN toilets and changing area! (I know i’m not the only one that this makes very happy!) Been for roasts twice now, had the pork belly one week and the lamb and lamb ballotine the next 👌🏼

We came in a big group and booked a table in advance so they knew it was going to be a big order. We ordered both food and drinks. Drink service was fine. We all ordered food and it took over an hour for the first batch of food to come out. Some of the food came out over an hour and a half later. Some of the orders that came out were wrong and the staff very visibly huffed and rolled their eyes at us. It made us feel very uncomfortable and made us feel very bad. They then celebrated in front of us that they had finished bringing all our orders out, this felt very awkward. One order that was sent back came out wrong a 2nd time but we couldn’t be bothered to wait any longer. One member of the group was told over an hour and a half after ordering that her meal was no longer in stock and is unavailable. This was overall an uncomfortable experience and has made us not want to return. Very bad organisation and poor service. It was meant to be a celebratory meal - turned into a disaster!!!

Came for the live music, which was organised well. Bar area is big enough to get a good size audience. Beers were pricey. More like London prices. Got there early (around 6) and there were some families there, so it's family friendly.

Good choice of drinks, good service and a great atmosphere when we visited on Easter Saturday evening when there were four live acts performing. The first two were not our taste in music but they went down well with others. My partner had a burrito which was reasonably priced and very tasty. They had quite a few vegan options, too. It was a fun evening and we had a really good time. We recommend they book Jot Sloppy (band) again, and recommend others to check them out!

Cosy stop for a refreshing top up. Friendly staff, clean glasses fresh pint, made for a good stop off on route to the town centre.

Been here before for drinks before - nice atmosphere, decent drinks. Then made the mistake of coming in for food on our anniversary. Roast lamb was like boot leather, I chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed for several minutes while my partner finished his entire meal (I was still chewing, couldn't get it small enough to swallow) then made the mistake of mentioning this to the bar staff when the chef/manager came out and berated me for not liking her food, no refund, no apology just berated for saying the roast lamb was inedible (which it was, I didn't manage to swallow any of it, just chew on tough gristle for 10 mins). Suffice to say it ruined our anniversary and I won't be going there again. BTW this is only the second time in my life I've ever sent food back for being I inedible, which it was

I had my 40th birthday party here recently and I just wanted to express what a brilliant pub this is. Firstly the communication with the events team / management to organise the party has been amazing (thanks Justine and James), and even though I asked 1001 questions I was always impressed with the efficient and personable responses. On the day Connor made sure that it was a seamless operation and was always really responsive and approachable to any requests we made. The team managed to pull together a delicious veggie/vegan and almost entirely gluten free menu for me with amazing understanding of allergies and were very reassuring about this from start to finish. My guests haven't stopped banging on about how great the food was!!! April even came out to reassure me about her kitchen processes and wished me a happy birthday! I genuinely am so grateful to all the team who, from the first time we visited the venue were all so awesome and warm. My birthday was such a special day, and that's thanks to the Lewes Road Inn. THANK YOU!

Went on an open mic night ok but nothing good. Pint of neck oil is more expensive £7.50 than drinks I’ve had in Mayfair London. They must be making £5 profit a pint to make up for no one in here apart from posh students not really drinking

Our family have just held a get together here, following our brother's funeral. The location is great, so easy to find. The staff were amazing at helping with the booking, so friendly and compassionate on the day. The buffet was incredible, so tasty, home made and fresh. It was wonderful, thank you so much to you all, especially James and April. You made a tough day so much more bearable. Thank you.

Had lovely Korean bbq ribs. Was really busy but the staff were great and really friendly!

We held my dad's "Celebration of Life" at The Lewes Road Inn recently. James, Connor & the team were fabulous. The communiction was great throughout the organising and no detail or request was too big. The food for the buffet was on another level, and everyone who was there commented on how good it was. Thank you April and all the kitchen chefs/staff. It was a fabulous send off for my lovely dad, he would've enjoyed the day......... Thank you all again x

Lovely pub. Not there for too long to give much more of a review than on the food. The food tasted lovely and good portions. Well worth a visit. As I said, did not stay too long, so could not fully comment on the service and atmosphere. But what we saw and had was good

We popped into the lewes road inn today for a bite and some wine. I live in Brighton and had a friend visiting. The pub itself is bright and welcoming. The staff were friendly and chatty. We ordered 4 share dishes and they were all delicious. I rarely eat or drink out due to be the proud owner of a 3 year old but I would happily eat, drink and socialise here! Highly recommended and we will most certainly be back!! Regards from the girls who's eyes were as big as there bellies!!!!

£19.70 for large whiskey and large gin & draft tonic. Unbelievable!

Amazing food! The Korean glazed ribs are to die for and the burritos are great. The chicken burger is a great portion and tastes amazing as well as the chips, garlic bread and halloumi fries!

Visited the other day and had the veggie feast pizza, food was amazing as was the customer service. Large portion sizes and hot, fresh food! Will definitely be visiting again to try more of the menu.

Went for a pub lunch at about 1pm on a friday with the Mrs. As expected the pub was quiet i ordered two burgers which took just under an hour to arrive and when they finally did come they were cold, the meat was over cooked and the fries tasted like cardboard and also cold. Neither of us ate anything and this is definitely not what I expect for a quiet weekday, very disappointed.

I'm new to the area, on the day I collected my keys I was looking for a drink and was instantly drawn to this place. Staff are lovely, food is exceptional in quality and formidable in size. And the atmosphere is wonderfully chill.

Had a great roast here, a little on the pricey side but the quality showed. Good sized portions and the pigs in blankets were top notch. Sat out back in their colourful beer garden listening to live music.

We have been several times as a family for a roast and it is pretty reliable. Not cheap but then nowhere is these days! Food is always tasty though. Lovely atmosphere with the Sunday blues session, friendly staff and good service. I'm sure we'll be back.

Not that long ago this was a sketchy pub. One of those ones that you wouldn't set foot in. I'm glad to report that a change of management and a complete refit have turned this into one of the best family friendly pubs in the area. Good food, great decor, friendly staff, and some unusual additions, such as frozen margarita, and a full Ice cream stall, make this a must visit place. It also has a good sized outdoor space, front and back. It would be nice to see a bit more craft beer on the taps but they do have some more commercial ales on such as Brewdog and Camden. Very happy to see this venue finally come to life, long may it continue.

Had a lovely family Sunday dinner here . We all had roast dinner lamb/ chicken/pork belly and a vegan roast . The meal was lovely couldn’t fault any of it . Staff were friendly and always helpful . We have visited before on Wednesday for their kilo of wings … delicious !! Always welcoming and dog friendly . I recommend local ice cream for dessert if you have room !!

Had one of the best Sunday Roasts I have had in a long while, beautifully cooked medium rare roast beef, perfect yorkshire puddings, well cooked roast potatoes and some of the best gravy I have ever tasted.

A big modern pub the place is in great condition- I had the fried pickles they where delicious- they have old mount on tap excellent- I watched the mic drop comedy was very funny good evening out

Great staff and food. But - their drag Eurovision bingo wasn’t what it advertised. The drag queen was good, but admitted she didn’t like Eurovision. She sang two Eurovision songs then gave up on them and sang pop hits. The bingo was normal bingo (not Eurovision sing based, like musical bingo) and there were only three teams (and one were off their faces - as if they’d wandered in by accident). Also, the rest of the clientele (who put numbered us) were not remotely interested in Eurovision. Good pub, but wrong venue and drag act for that event.

Visit here quite regularly as cannot beat the friendly and polite staff. We have eaten a couple of times, (roasts), and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Great live music venue, and the general background music is always varied and a good listen. Highly recommend you pop in for a pint 👍🏻
