What a lovely cafe! The staff were delightful and what an incredible selection of coffees and cakes - especially gluten free options! Unbelievable amount of choice and so much choice for someone GF - thank you so much! I just wish we were local so we could visit more often! Definitely a cafe to visit.All the best!

First time visit and despite being busy we were seated at a table that was booked for later in the day. Great service and even better cakes. So good we got some to takeaway, will definitely be back

Just fantastic! We stopped in Tadcaster on the way to York and stumbled upon this lovely little cafe. We hadn’t booked but we were welcomed warmly and seated straight away. From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was great, we received excellent care and attention, nothing was too much trouble and they made a fuss of our two girls which made them feel very special. We’ll be back! Would highly recommend.

Our first time inside a restaurant since the pandemic began. Good spacing of tables, sanitizer etc but basically felt ‘normal’. Good range of lunch options including GF and vegan. Very friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed our panini and omelette very much and had no room left for cake!

Not as good since it changed hands. The food was still of reasonable quality but the portions had been drastically reduced in size and the previously (too?) extensive menu has been scaled down. The Lemon Tree used to a stand out from the crowd as being a place which served good, home cooked food with generous portion sizes and very good value for money. Now, under the new management, it’s still pleasant and the food is fine, but it’s now no better than any number of other local cafes. Certainly lost its USP.

After stopping at the services we decided to try instead this cafe and were very glad we did. There was a very warm welcome - we hadn't booked, but were seated quickly and kept informed that there may be a wait. The coffee was very nice and the paninis tasty served with coleslaw, salad and plenty of crisps. There looked to be a yummy array of cakes but we didn't have one - too full.

A very traditional cafe with very friendly and welcoming service. The food was good if not exceptional. Certainly a better option than the neighbouring 'chain' coffee shop!

We had a lovely brunch here starting the trip home from York. Storm Ciara was realy getting going, but it was warm and comfy in The Lemon Tree. Great food and good service.

Third visit since new ownership - great menu, service and atmosphere. Really well looked after despite it being a busy Saturday with the cafe full. Panini’s were tasty and previous visit showed the breakfast is fantastic. Stayed beyond closing to finish our tea and not rushed at all by staff. Lovely welcoming feel. Cakes stunning too!

Staff were friendly and nice but I am sorry to say that I found even though the food looked ok it was tasteless. Chips and peas no flavour. My friend said the same about her food. Which was a shame as the last time under the other owners it was much the same. Ok for a coffee and cake.

Lovely vegetarian breakfast with Quorn sausages. Great value and really nice loose leaf tea. The staff are really friendly.

I visited here on a Sunday morning for a late breakfast with family.We had a nice table by the window, and there was a small cosy fire in the room too.The menu was standard fare and well priced. Service was polite and friendly, and a small baby was accommodated with a high chair. I'll be back next time I'm in the area.

Stopped off here on a wet Sunday morning ..warm welcome chose the "Little Monty" glad we did couldn't have eaten the full one ! All the food looked good tasted good I told them it was too cheap ! We shall return

I’ve never given a 5* rating on TripAdvisor before, however, the new owners have really put their stamp on what is a warm, friendly, family run cafe. I went with Full Monty and I was not disappointed. My wife had a Little Monty and our daughter had scrambled egg on toast. A modest price for a breakfast for a family of three. New owners had only just got settled, but you couldn’t tell. Passing through Tadcaster very rarely, we went with quite medium expectations, but were more than pleasantly surprised with the subtle changes to The Lemon Tree. It feels a lot more than just a tearoom and can’t wait to return. Yorkshire-roasted coffee is also a hit and easily goes toe to toe with the likes of Costa and Starbucks. Staff went above and beyond. 5*

Recently re opened with new owners The Lemon Tree hits the spot. This was my first visit to this lovely cafe. It was busy, with a good atmosphere. I ordered the soup of the day and was not disappointed. Fresh Carrot & Coriander with crusty bread. I will definitely be returning.

We have had fantastic meals for the last 5 years from neil who will be missed so much.

I'm not one to write reviews usually however I was AMAZED by The Lemon Tree after my visit there for my lunch. As someone who has been vegetarian all my life and recently turned vegan, I am used to only having one or two vegetarian options however it is not the case here! There was a whole menu with maybe 5 or 6 pages full of vegan options I was spoilt for choice! The service was amazing too! Will definitely be visiting again soon

Highly recommend quality breakfast, all the ingredients are good quality and very tasty. Service was first class too.

A quaint eatery on the mail street with access from the town Carpark at the rear also. Its was a cold morning but the tearoom had open fire goings and the staff gave us a lovely warm welcome. We were visiting with friends so the men ordered the Full Monty breakfast whilst us laddys settled for a bacon bap and toast. The breakfast was huge and the boys struggled to finish it. It’s was served with boiling hot tea and toast on the side. The waitress was good humoured and we enjoyed a bit of friendly banter, in fact we enjoyed ourselves so much we popped in the two following mornings. They have a good choice on the menus with soups, scones and cakes all on offer. I’d certainly recommend popping in here if you are visiting Tadcaster or surrounding area, it’s definitely worth a visit.

4 bus passes met for light bite lunch. Pleasant welcome and efficient ordering with menu items explained in detail. Portions generous, the rarebit was pronounced excellent. Much talk at the table but not rushed away. Very reasonable prices. Would certainly call again.

Visited this cafe with a group of friends and children. Food was lovely and fresh and staff went out of their way to be helpful to such a large group - even brought extra toys for one of the children. Will definitely be back.

I had time on my had and visited The Lemon Tree, due to my car being serviced locally. My wife and I ordered a full English Breakfast and an Omelette. The initial greeting was warm and friendly and this was the case throughout. The food arrived swiftly and looked extremely appetising. The food was very hot and fresh, the bacon, sausage, black pudding, eggs, tomato and mushrooms were all of an high standard both in quality and cooking. My wife’s omelette was plentiful and again did not disappoint. This was supported by fresh toast and a hot cup of tea. Highly recommend, I would not hesitate in returning whenever I’m in the area. Thank you.

Dropped in to Tadcaster on the way to Whitby for lunch. Had looked for somewhere to eat in advance and The Lemon Tree has positive reviews. We weren’t disappointed. Several steps up to the front door to negotiate so not really suitable for wheelchair access, not sure if there’s another entrance with level access. Family groups with young children managed the steps for the pushchairs ok. Very friendly staff and quick service. Would recommend.

We were looking around Tadcaster for a tea-shop and came across the Lemon Tree. Their offer of a fresh scone with jam and cream and a pot of tea after 2p.m. looked good. We went in and were greeted by a friendly waitress. It wasn't very busy so we didn't have to wait long for our order. The scones were large and crispy on top. we had plenty of jam, clotted cream and tea for £3.95 each. All three of us enjoyed it. It's quite old fashioned inside with a beamed ceiling but was comfortable. My only complaint is that you can smell the food cooking from the open door of the kitchen and I felt that I came out with my hair and clothes smelling. They could do with an extractor fan to eliminate this.

Nice little place I found it a little expensive food was ok. The staff are friendly. I find charging for extra hot water for your tea a little over the top. Never come across this before.

Advertised as open on a Sunday, so we took a detour to eat here, only to find it was closed when we arrived. Accurate opening times are really important to customers!

Popped in today after inquiring if they could cater for my Coeliac daughter. She was delighted with what they had to offer, and was completely spoilt for choice! There were 6 of us in total and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and service, we will return. Thanks

This restaurant/cafe fronts on to the High Street and can be accessed from the large town car park, at the rear. Easy disabled access. Cyclist friendly. child portions available. Excellent service with a great selection of food including Vegan and Gluten Free. Very reasonably priced and with exceptional service this place showcases home cooking at its best.

Have visited these lovely tearooms a few times.Everyone is friendly and efficient. The menu is extensive and caters for all tastes and appetites. On this occasion I had a substantial ham and cheese toastie with a lovely crisp salad whilst my husband had a spanish omelette which he said was delicious. Well worth the visit!

We visited the Lemon tree as a family of six adults. The breakfast choice was wide and catered well for our gluten free family member. The food didn’t come out fast as it was cooked to order in a kitchen with an open view to customers. It was worth the wait, the quality of the breakfast ingredients was excellent and all was cooked very well. We were all very impressed and vowed to return. The cafe filled up very quickly after we arrived, evidence that the quality of the place was widely known. We would love to know where the sausage and black pudding came from, they were superb!

Enjoyed our food at the Lemon Tree as we have done in the past. It was very busy but the staff still manage to have a friendly chat and are always cheerful.

We had a roast beef Sunday lunch here today and it was gorgeous. Huge portion with a great selection of tasty, fresh veg - swede & carrot mash (delicious!), sprouts, cauliflower, roast and mashed potatoes and of course a homemade Yorkshire pudding - all accompanied by a really tasty gravy.

we had never been to Tadcaster before and wont be going back - talk about a one horse town! However, if we were ever that way again we would definately eat here again. The food was excellent and the staff so friendly.

Road trip through the UK has us stop at The Lemon tree for brunch. The hostess was friendly, helpful and answered our random questions (what is a chip butty?) especially as she had worked out we were from NZ (must be the accent). The food was delicious, great coffee and didn't have long to wait for the food to arrive, even when it was reasonably full.

This place is brilliant for groups of cyclists. We notified in advance and everything was 100% Thank you to all the staff for making us welcome.

Went for a family breakfast (kids were visiting), we booked a table (highly recommended as it is always busy). We all took a full Monty, even though it does say for the hungry.... well we didn't managed to finish it all. The produces are local and gosh you can taste it. We were served pretty fast considering it was full of people. They do a little Monty and many other breakfast and I think they recently do Sunday roast

This is one of the best of our regular cycling cafes. The staff are always friendly and once you're known your order is usually on its way without you having to ask for it. The food is plentiful, freshly cooked and the prices are keen. Great value and very cycle friendly - bike racks and back locks if you need them.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s always nice enough. There is a good selection of foods. To me I prefer somewhere a little more modern - the menu and the decoration.

As a "returner" to Tadcaster I had yet to experience the wonder that is Lemon Tree until last week.

Both my husband and I enjoyed a very tasty vegan meal here today, great to see there was more than one choice. Will definitely go back.

A lovely little cafe where the staff are competent, accommodating & aware of allergies! Really good portion sizes & very friendly service. Really pleased to have stumbled across somewhere with such a good Gluten free menu. Would definitely re-visit if we were in the area.

We had such a lovely late breakfast at the Lemon tree , the service & staff were excellent and very friendly . The food was lovely , and the whole place was so welcoming , the fires were lit and it was so relaxing , will return very soon .

The Lemon Tree is a firm favourite of ours, I have visited on many occasions, with friends and family for breakfast, lunch or just tea and cake.

Lovely breakfast with a work friend. We had a table by the fire with attentive service. Good range of options on the menu, my friend had the omelette (which is very generously sized) and I had the meat free option. Good coffee too.

Visited the lemon tree on a Sunday around 11:00 for breakfast whilst out riding our bikes. Located on the main street. Front and rear entrance. The rear up a cobbled yard with lots of room for bikes, they supply stands and locks. The locks just in the rear door. Lots of seating but filled up quickly. Waitress service, very pleasant and helpful staff. Lots of choice food wise, something for everyone. I had breakfast, very nice and well cooked. Some of the breakfasts come with a drink included. Top up hot water for tea too. Reasonably priced and will call again.

My wife and I had lunch here last week, we would definitely return if in Tadcaster again. The cafe was clean and set out in three seperate room areas so it wasn't too noisy. We were given a choice of seats, our orders were taken quickly and as there were a few others in the cafe the food arrived very quickly. We both had sandwiches and a portion of fries, the sandwiches were well filled, tasty and well laid out on the plates. We both had coffees which were of good quality. Our waitress was very pleasant, helpful but not over attentive. The cafe is easy to find being on the main Street in Tadcaster

Visited on Sunday lunchtime, we had intended to go somewhere else where we could see our bikes but it was closed. They were very welcoming and even had bike locks for visitors. Great bacon sandwiches and coffee. Definitely recommend.

I have visited The Lemon Tree a couple of times - it is a favourite with the cycling community. Today we arrived after closing, but were met with a friendly smile, the offer of locks for our bikes and an offer to serve us hot drinks and scones. A warm room to match the welcome. Thank you Dan.

Really enjoy the breakfast here, good quality, piping hot and plenty of it. Excellent place to call in after a dog walk, as it is dog friendly. They also provide bike locks for the cyclists.

The staff and food was great. Dan the waiter made sure that breakfast was just what was needed. We had the disadvantage of a wheelchair but staff made sure we were accommodated

Even at 3 o'clock on a cold, damp Sunday afternoon, still managed an excellent Sunday Lunch. Dropped in on the off-chance of lunch, could not have been better, great service, really good meal. Worth getting of the A64 for!

There were no tables immediately available, so Dan suggested taking my mobile number whilst we visited the Christmas market. Well worth the short wait. No request was too much trouble and Dan refreshingly understood the difference between food “intolerance” and “allergy”. His knowledge of the meal ingredients led him to proactively check for ingredients that might not be commonly expected and so avoided us ordering an unsuitable choice. Highly recommend eating here.

I eat at the Lemon Tree at least twice a week and that shows how highly I rate the establishment, the food is excellent and the staff are wonderful.

Five of us dropped in for lunch. We were quickly seated and our order taken. The quiche and salad, Mediterranean tart and salad and ham, egg and chips portions are very generous, only one of those three managed to eat everything but then the others are in their 80's and have smaller appetites. The other two had steak pies with chips/mash & peas plus lashings of gravy - absolute heaven.

Called at this cafe for first time today. Had a lovely, freshly cooked breakfast and received great service from Dan and the chef who changed my order to poached eggs at the last minute. Really good value; recommended and will come again

Visiting York for three days, we came across this fabulous tea rooms on a VERY wet Wednesday afternoon. What a fabulously warm welcome. We were served by Dan who is such a lovely young man, full of enthusiasm and very knowledgeable about the full menu. We had tea, coffee, cake and a scone. All of which were 5*. Will definitely visit again.

Went here On the morning of 20th October after reading other reviews on trip advisor and I have to say wasn’t disappointed at all. We were staying at a hotel nearby but preferred to go out for our breakfast. This place is so friendly and if you’ve A group then I would phone up and reserve a table as it gets very full very quickly. The food is very tasty reasonably priced and the service is fab!!! This place was so good we came back the next day but not before booking to make sure we had a table and brought the rest of the family of uncle ,aunt and cousin. They were delighted with it also and said they would also return if back in that area. If you’re looking for somewhere that does a wide range of meals not just breakfast, great cuppa tea , Coffee or cappuccino , vegetarian meals and gluten free then go here you won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend this Cafe. Will definitely go back if we return to the UK.

We visited this cafe for lunch and can not fault anything. Great menu choice and lots for the younger ones. The food was fresh, cooked perfectly and the portions were generous. Our food was served all at the same time which was a surprise as they were busy. The staff and owners make you feel very welcome and go to great lengths in making you comfortable. If you want good quality food in a warm friendly atmosphere, this is the place to be.

Booked table for three for Sunday 21st October 2018. Very warm welcome, good choice of food and drinks. Very busy and popular, great atmosphere. Glad we booked as it is very clear that this is good value and was busy the whole two and half hours we were there. Will be back in the near future. Have already recommend to friends!

Stopped here with Monk Fryston cycling club. breakfast was fantastic , piping hot and quickly served. Also the cafe provides locks to chain your bike up while eating. Great and welcome innovative idea.

Stopped in Tadcaster on the way to York with a friend, our first visit to the town. We called into The Lemon Tree, initially for a coffee, but when we saw some of the meals being served we stayed for lunch. And we were very glad we did!

Stopped on our way to wetherby antiques fair first time we have visited the lemon tree but won’t be the last. Great breakfast and really friendly staff.

Decided to call after a Google search on our way to Leeds from York. Absolutely fantastic, the lady who served was efficient and such good fun. Very busy at lunch today but managed to find us a lovely table for 2. The food was with very generous portions and to the best standard and so well presented. This establishment is absolutely spotless. Do not miss calling if you are in Tadcaster. Thank you Sue for your kindness and help. We will be back

Visited 210918 with a couple of mates , I only had a pot of tea but my mate had a toasted tea cake that looked very good , great service and they had a track pump and locks for the bikes.

My husband & I visited The Lemon Tree for the first time today after reading very good reviews on tripadvisor. The venue looked nice & clean & the staff were attentive and friendly. When I read the extensive menu I was a little concerned as I generally feel that an extensive menu sometimes means average food rather than excellent food from a smaller menu. However, I was wrong. My husband enjoyed his cheese & ham toasty & I was pleased with my egg mayo sandwich; both were served with a good side salad & crisps.Two ladies at the next table were served with fried egg & chips, which is a simple meal but looked very appetising. The chips whetted my appetite but I had already ordered my sandwich. I shall choose a dish with chips on our next visit. To finish our meal my husband & I had lemon cake & tea. The cake was very light, moist & tasty. We will be visiting again in the none too distant future.

What a find! We were looking for somewhere for lunch near the A1/A64 which served gluten free food. From the moment we went into this cosy cafe we felt welcomed and staff were very helpful. The food was delicious, I must make special reference to the soup, the ham and the cake! We'll definitely be back!

Visited here as a party of 5 and we all ordered different dishes which were served very quickly. We didn't realise it was near to closing but did not feel rushed in any way. We then found out we had a problem with misplacing a set of car keys and the owner was so very helpful in assisting us to sort this out. Thank you to the owners and staff at The Lemon Tree, will definitely return.

Good food in a really welcoming and friendly environment. Great staff who don’t rush you to order and don’t rush you to leave. They always check that you are happy with everything and they are happy to accommodate where they can.

Amazing breakfast, I would recommend the meat free. They also do a lovely vegetable lasagne and great chips. They are always happy to split the bill, which is great for friends or colleagues.

I hardly think this establishment needs another great review as it is thriving and has five tripadvisor stars already. However it was so good that I feel compelled. The food is great, as is the service and we would definitely recommend.

Fast service and excellent food. Generous portions. A must for any cyclist visiting Tadcaster by bike. They even provide locks to use round the back.

My disabled elderly mum and I needed to find a place for a good lunch - trip advisor came up trumps.

We went for lunch midweek with 2 hungry children when the restaurant was full, we got the last table. We were told it would be a little wait for the food but when I said our 6 year old was really hungry the waiter said he’d see what he could do. They made his meal straight away and ours wasn’t too far behind. The food was very good, also reasonably priced, four of us had lunch with a drink each for £27. The staff are what’s made me write this review though, they are so helpful and friendly and the chef came to chat to us whilst we were paying and said she had got his meal out to us in 9 minutes which was the quickest she could do fish and chips. Will definitely return. It’s so popular which is a sign of a great restaurant.

Visited for the first time today, after reading TA reviews. Had the “Full Monte” breakfast, which was superb. Friendly welcome on arrival, prompt service and a breakfast that kept me full until early evening - perfect! I’m sure I will return.

We called after looking in vain for for a refreshing morning cup of coffee but found this gem right in front of us in the free car park, this in itself some thing of a miracle these days. Straight inside to ask if we may park, 'yes free all day'. A really good latte for us both served by the most friendly staff ever and an extensive, well priced menu to boot. The toilets were up to the same very high standard. We only wished we were hungry! We shall of course visit again. This place is one of the very best, 'Happy eating and drinking' to you all.

My Hubby and I had a lovely lunch here today, I opted for the Goats Cheese and Red Pepper quiche which was very tasty indeed.

I can highly recommend this little cafe, we called in the morning to reserve a table as we were travelling through. We were seated at a lovely table in the bay window, the menu was extensive, staff were friendly and obliging, food was delicious and all requests catered for. Couldn't find any fault what so ever.

Lovely cafe on a Georgian high street, with original oak beams. The staff were patient and attentive without being intrusive. My friends and I all ordered the full English breakfast. Superb ingredients perfectly cooked. Probably the best English breakfast I have eaten in five years or more. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Every time I visit the Lemon Tree, everything is beyond what you would expect. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the food outstanding and excellent value. I have been on my own and in a group. I have been when it has been quiet and when it is bursting, and nothing falters. Highly recommended

Cannot speak highly enough about the Lemon Tree, 28 Hungry cyclists from the Beech Holme Tandem Club in Hull were catered for in fine style. The Cafe even opened an hour early for us and gave us exclusive use of the cafe for our breakfast. The full breakfast was superb without doubt the best we've had on our travels. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will certainly return when next in the area, Thank You so much for your hospitality. xxxxx

A clearly very popular local cafe offering a good range of food. Pies seem to be a speciality as they had several on the menu - I had the Chicken and Chorizo and it was very good with plenty of filling and good pastry. Good prices and good coffee as well.

We called today during a 50 mile cycle ride. The panini's were lovely however I did begin to wonder if they had to go to France for the Brie. Drinks were brought out very quickly unfortunately due to the length of wait the tea was cold by the time the paninis arrived. The cafe should be able to cope with the number of guests that were there.
