They forgot the most important item in the meal the fried rice and expect to get their full price, pro tip don't order from them through Uber eats, my partner was very angry couldn't enjoy his meal!!

Lovely Indian restaurant near where we stayed in Newcastle. Food was delicious and served quickly. Loads of tasty vegetarian options and staff will adjust order to your tastes. Staff very pleasant and welcoming

Booked this restaurant on trip advisor reviews and was not disappointed. Short break with friends and on a Tuesday night restaurant was quiet but we were warmly welcomed and they had a midweek deal of starters main and sides for £15 a head. We had four starters to share four different mains which they made milder or hotter on request and four sides all excellent. With a bottle of wine and beers total bill under £100. Top notch and great value.

Went with my son and my partner, very relaxing atmosphere, great food and brilliant service. My son wanted to know how they fold the napkins so they taught him.

I was last in this restaurant over 30 year ago. I have travelled the length and breadth of the country enjoying curries. Party of four with various tastes. The restaruant is very spacious and clean Toilets are very clean Service was spot on polite and knowledgeable Menu was extensive with something for everyone The food was spot on Nans fresh and tasty Popadoms a cut above the normal All meals were lovely fresh and tasty Price was very fair If you are looking for a taditional Indian this is the place for you. In my opinion this leaves the likes of Dishoom and other high end venues in its wake.

I’ve been to countless Indian restaurants over the last 40 years and Latif is without doubt one of the best, if not THE best. I love the decor. It’s spotlessly clean. Service is excellent. The proprietors are lovely. The prices are reasonable. Good location. Best of all, the food is just perfect. It’s nothing fancy but delicious, freshly cooked and really flavoursome. My lamb Madras was really tender and the sauce was rich and warming, but not too hot. Latif sets the standard which all Indian restaurants should aspire to. I’ve been three times over the last year and will be going again soon…….can’t wait.

We had the Sunday Special menu, which was very good value. Albeit this review is more about the quality of the food, my tester dishes for review are the prawn purée and lamb jalfrezi both were excellent. The building and ambiance were also superb. Give it a go

This is a very good Indian restaurant, have been to numerous ones over the years but this was very good. The Bangladeshi specials we had were great. Service was fantastic and it was nice to visit somewhere without purple lighting and trying to be modern. Great food.

So normally I go to Shampan in Whitley Bay but after discovering this place last month, I have changed to this place. Ate in twice and both times the food has been incredible, please don't let the interior put you off as it does look outdated and their music is played on a TV with YouTube on but genuinely if you can look past that, you'll eat the nicest food.

First time in Newcastle and arrived with no clue where to go for food, previous Indian experiences were not good but we threw caution to the wind! We ordered drinks then we ordered food….. absolutely WOWED! Really can’t say enough good about it all it truly was fabulous! The service also very good really do recommend to all fabulous eatery 😘👌😋 give it a go

We wanted a traditional British Indian restaurant meal and were not disappointed. Pleasant ambience in the dining area. All the favourites available at decent prices (especially with the Thursday specials, which contained all the items that I would have ordered anyway from the a la carte). Friendly staff. Good location near the railway station. If in Newcastle again we would visit this restaurant again.

Visited here after a show at the life centre on a Wednesday evening. Initially quiet but picked up as the evening went on. What an absolute gem of a restaurant. The gentleman who served us was brilliant. We have favourite dishes from our hometown restaurant, we explained what they were and he pointed out in his menu which were similar. Both these dishes were absolutely gorgeous. One was a lamb Jal Masala. I can't remember the name of mine. Arrived piping hot with garlic rice, keema naan and chips. All really lovey and cooked to perfection. Forgot to mention the chicken puree and bhaji for starters, also excellent. The restaurant was spotless and the staff lovely. We just wish it was closer so it could be our regular place!

Spending a few days in Newcastle so had to have a curry one evening. Looking at trip advisor there were so many to choose from but we decided on Latif as it was on the way back to our hotel. It was early evening so it was very quiet but the food was absolutely brilliant. Best Madras I've had in a long time. Staff were fantastic as well. I would definitely recommend this place.

My wife and I went here on a Tuesday evening at about 8:30 pm. It was very quiet but the food was excellent. I had a lamb madras. The meat was really tender and the sauce just the right level of heat. My wife had a vegetable dish which she loved. The restaurant is very clean and well furnished. We both are looking forward to going back to this restaurant soon.

Well, having read loads of reviews, I decided to give Latif a go. What a master stroke that was. Great eating environment, friendly and helpful staff. The toilets were spotless. There was clearly a lot of pride here. Now the food - just perfect and lots of it. Had my routine meal when I'm out which is poppodoms, onion bhaji, chicken Vindaloo, rice and Nan. The food was perfect and big portions. I rolled out of there. The curry was very hot how a Vindaloo should be and a big shout out to the Aloo Nan. When I go back to Newcastle, I won't try anywhere else - I'm a convert.

What a lovely place! We dined here on 13 Aug 2022 while we were on a mini break from Scotland. Spotlessly clean, crisp white table linen. Beautiful. The staff are so nice and very attentive and gave big beaming smiles when we complimented them on the cuisine! Hubby had chicken Karachi which had a lovely balance of spices. Hot, but not overly so. I had the passanda with chicken and it was the creamiest, dreamiest passanda ever! We accompanied our meals with rice and peshwari naan, both of which were scrummy! We both agreed they were among the best curries we have ever tasted. Again, we can’t compliment the staff enough. Such a fab dining experience! Highly recommended!

It was my first time in Newcastle so can't describe the location too well. It's not far from the station and was actually recommended to us by a bouncer at a local pub. What a recommendation. Quite simply THE best curry I've ever had. Such a lovely venue, immaculate everywhere. The table cloths and serviettes were so lovely crisp and fresh I felt bad at the end of the meal when we had got a couple of stains on them. Staff are very welcoming. We hadn't booked but we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. Service was very good, quick, caring but not overbearing in any way. What can I say about the food other than oh my goodness absolutely amazing! I'm veggie and sometimes dishes are a bit underwhelming. Not at Latifs. Everything I had was amazing. The portions were huge and it beat both me and my hubby! We couldn't eat everything. I would like to say thank you to this lovely gem and the people who own it for your warm welcome and exceptional food. Five out of five, higher if I could.

First time (and last time) here with friends. The service was ridiculously slow. Took them an hr just to get us drinks and they somehow only took orders from half the table and neglected the other half. Placing orders was just chaotic. Had to repeatedly flag the waiters with what we wanted for food and drinks. They kept missing drinks and starters. Took them 2 hours to get the mains out and some people on our table still didn't have their mains. They also missed multiple sides. Food was also very bland. My chicken tikka masala was bright neon red which indicated high use of food colouring. The other people on our table also said they've defs had a better Indian elsewhere. Even a supermarkets takeout is better than this. At least food only takes a few minutes in the microwave and tastes better. They again took forever to work out the bill. They were so so slow, we ended up paying at the counter. Don't think we'll be back.

Customer service was in fact very good always attentive to every need. Found the onion bhajis quite overdone and chewy and the main curry dishes tasted different to what were used too. They were still tasty however if you tend to keep to the dishes...

I’ve tried so many Indian restaurants and takeaways but none of them compare to Latifs so now I don’t bother going elsewhere. Been going here for years and recommend it to everyone, never once had any complaints. Delicious food, great service (especially from the lady in Indian dress), good portions and lovely drinks. Parking is slightly annoying but that’s the fault of NCC not the restaurant. Easy bus links so can have a drink. Do not hesitate in visiting here.

We went for an early meal and found the food to be very good. We all had the 2 course menu which had plenty of choice and good value. There were several different priced menus to choose from. Unfortunately for the restaurant it was very quiet, hopefully it got busier later on.

I have two really awful experiences with this restaurant.Whilst I admit the quality of the food is good, not brilliant my issues have both been with service.The first time was taken to a table then completely forgotten about, despite me asking if I could see the menu. After 30 minutes I stood up told the people the service was shocking and left.The second time I decided to order a take away. After chasing my order for nearly 3 hours I eventually had a response via chat which was followed by a call some while later that basically said that our order had been forgotten about and would be delivered soon. At this point I said not to bother and just refund the payment.Feeling very disappointed and upset, I am very fair and honest and try to give people the benefit of the doubt but will never go back here.

Was looking for an authentic style Indian resteraunt, and that is exactly what I found. The food was incredible, service went above and beyond what I was expecting. Will 100% be returning, and recommending it to anyone.

Reserved a table here last week to catch up with some friends whilst I was in town on business.The place was quiet, so not really any need to reserve - but being a first time visit I played safe I guess.Arrived for a little after 20:30 last Tuesday, the three of us had a nice big round table in the corner waiting for us.We ordered a couple of 600ml Kingfisher Premium bottled beers to start us off, along with a couple of papadums each + pickle tray.Starters we ordered vegetable samosas, and two portions of onion bahjis. These came out in a little over ten mins and were cooked just perfectly. Mains we ordered a chicken madras, a chicken vindaloo, and a vegetarian coconut/cream/cauliflower curry (to which the name I cannot remember!), a keema naan bread, and a couple of pilau rices between us - and a couple more beers.Our mains came about ten mins after our clean plates from the starters had gone, and again, everything was spot on.My chicken madras was cooked bang on for me - the chicken was soft and tender, the sauce clean & fresh. My friends seemed equally as happy with theirs as well.Total bill came to about £80 - we left a cash tip on top, I'd pay that again for sure, and probably will when I'm next in the Toon!Keep up the great work, food & service Latif!

The standard of the food in Latifs is immense. So tasty. The Latifs special lamb is awesome! Great spices..... and the waiters are super-stars! What a gem, live it here!

Went back to this restaurant we used to go to a good few years back. The place has not changed much it has a lovely atmosphere, the staff are very nice, the food second to none. Everything was cooked to perfection. We were not at all disappointed and it has surpassed our other favourite Indian restaurant. We will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone visiting Newcastle.

Booked for table of ten, no problem, great food, great service, nice laid back atmosphere and reasonably priced. Been here a few times now with large group of friends and have never been let down, would gladly recommend for a good non pretentious traditional curry house.

Bit gutted as this is just round the corner from me and looks impressive. I’ll start with the positives -the place is impressive, waiters where well dressed -the lady who served us was very accommodating -portions where largeNow for the not so good -waited a long time for the take out despite being the only people waiting - an older waiter shouted at the lady to get him a coke, which created a bit of a atmosphere -food was largely inedible —nans burnt—missing starter—strange tang to the curry like it was off—luminous multicoloured rice— the yougurt dip was curdled Glad I didn’t eat much, my partners curry tasted nice but then she was a tad ill the next day, I would avoid this place as there are plenty better Indian restaurants locally

Stopped off here during an over nighter. The restaurant was only 2-3 mins walk from the hotel I was staying at. The starter in particular was very good! The food overall was good and the service very friendly. Keep up the good work!

Second time we’ve been to Latif and second time I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing the perfect lamb madras. Nice staff, very good service, reasonable prices. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

Myself and my colleagues came here after a few Christmas drinks, we had Meerkat 2 for 1 codes but the bill didn’t appear to calculate as expected. The food was average at best but I feel that because we’d had a few drinks they were taking a bit of a liberty with us. There was no one else in the restaurant at the time! Won’t go back.

Collected an Indian takeaway. Staff were really welcoming and friendly. It was simply the nicest Indian takeaway I’ve ever had. Amazing value too! We ordered 3 curries, 2 rice, 2 naans and some poppadoms + sundries and it came to approx £25 which I thought was really cheap! Will definitely order again and try eating in the restaurant next time

Came upon this place before a visit to the Tyne theatre nearby. An excellent Madras with a truly superb Saag Aloo. Excellent staff always a plus and very reasonable prices.

This restaurant is only a five minute walk from the main station in Newcastle. It has a bar area, separate from the dinning room. Alas, the latter was empty on a Sunday evening at 8pm. I had been enticed in by the sign outside offering a special "meal deal". It proved remarkable value, at £9.95 for a poppadum and pickles, onion bhagi and salad, medium lamb curry, pilau rice and half a pint of lager.The service was very good, welcoming, helpful and efficient. The dinning room is smartly decorated and has proper table cloths and napkins. The meal was tasty, the lamb being particularly tender (although my curry was only mildly spicy, so perhaps I will go or a hotter version next time). I felt very full by the end of the meal and left a very happy customer!

When you are looking for an Indian restaurant this is well worth a visit, Friendly and very Proffesional staff in a very clean and nice restaurant. The Food was very good and value for money all our party had a very enjoyable meal.

This is a large restaurant that can look a bit empty. It is spotlessly clean. Notice the mirrors, corners of room, ceiling panels. Spotless. Clean decent loos too. Service a little slow since quiet in restaurant but the food is delicious. A really nice curry.

Ate here with my family on a Thursday evening and can't complain at anything our 8 year old said it's the best he's tasted and bearing in mind we live over an hour away said he wants to come there everyrime for his curry! Really friendly staff and good value for money. Worth a visit:)

Staff very friendly, place is very clean and I love that they have Bollywood songs playing on the tv as it’s quite fun too watch.I had the beef madras which was one of the best versions I’ve ever tasted. Was just what I fancied. Beef was tender and melted in you pr mouth.My friend doesn’t like food that’s too spicy, but normally only mild dishes Indian restaurants have is korma or butter chicken. This place had a good selection of mild curries, I can’t remember the one she ordered but she loved it and said it was good to get to try something different and new.Only thing I would of liked better is if the garlic naan bread wasn’t so dry as I love it dripping with garlic butter, but it’s not very good for you that way I suppose lol.I would come back to Newcastle just to go to this Indian! Went for an post show supper, food was delicious. We’re not from the area but have eaten here once a couple of years ago, If we were local we’d visit every week! Amazed how quiet this place is but it lead to a welcoming speedy efficient service. Combine this with the food I don’t see why you’d go for a curry anywhere else!

I have eaten here several times now whilst on Business in Newcastle.The food, ambience and friendly staff are second to none.After a flight of stairs you enter the restaurant which is welcoming, fresh, clean and unpretentious.The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and always smiling.I have eaten in many Indian restaurants both in the UK and further afield and this is the best by far.

I had a lovely Balti from this restaurant. Friendly staff and good service. I would happily recommend to people traveling to the city as its close to the train station and hotels

We went in on 31st March, table for 2 around midnight.Wasn't busy and got seated fairly quickly, staff were very pleasant and attentive.Starters were chicken shashlick and lamb shashlick , both delicious.The mains came along quickly and were both superb, I could even use my taste card on a Saturday night which was a bonus. Great weekend in Newcastle and next time we're back this will be our restaurant of choice, thanks guys.

Went late on a Friday (10 ish)...was nearly empty. Food was average at best, wouldn't go again. Maybe we had an off night looking at other reviews but our local takeaway serves better food. Everything had that bought in sauce flavour?. Shame really, should be serving better quality in a restaurant. £36 for poppodoms, chicken chat on puri, 2 mains, 2 rice, 2 gin and tonics. Not bad value if it had been any good. Wouldn't go back.

late night indian. always a very good meal here. spacious and clean restaurant. good range of all the classic indian foods you could want. always well cooked and well presented and if your lucky mr latif himself may cook your meal. I was lucky and he did and it was truly spectacular

What a shame, lovely food but after the only other couple left, there was only the two of us. As you imagine the service was without fault. The food was good, not the best we have ever had but certainly not the reason the place was empty. It’s never good being the only people in a restaurant - Maybe the owners should offer some deals and try and up the profile.

Highly recommended and excellent value. Visited recently with a group of 20 work colleagues, receiving a friendly welcome and first class service throughout. A fine building and impressive cozy surroundings. A simple cash payment only Sunday and Thursday special menu offers plenty of choice with impressive portions; something for even the fussiest of eaters. Seek out this gem and spread the word - you won't be disappointed, whether as a group or a couple. Handy for Central Railway Station/Metro, good pubs and entertainment venues too.

A last minute choice for food before going to the arena. Lovely restaurant and friendly staff. Excellent food and quick service when we explained we were short for time! Will go back and spend longer next time!

Upon arriving at the place I immediately noticed a very strong pungent smell of burnt oil and also the place was empty except for 2 other tables which should have been a warning. However with it being 10.30pm we Werent sure if anywhere else would be open so we took a table.I can honestly and without a single word of eggaxeration say that both the starter and main course was the worst food I have ever tasted in my life. Both meals had a pungent taste of burnt oil (the same smell that the whole place stankof)Before we had even finished the main course I had to dash to the toilet where I was violently sick for over 20 minutes. I cannot recall ever being as violently sick like that in my life.Whilst in the toilet a fellow diner came in and heard me throwing up and said he too felt sick and that the food was disgusting.I left in a taxi which had to stop 4 times on the way home so I could be sick again and I have been up all night throwing up and I have been ill all day & I really mean I've been ill.I hate to write bad reviews but if your serving food as bad as that to the public then you need a reality check. You could kill someone. My biggest regret is not taking a sample to hand in to the environmental health at the local council.So my conclusion is this: The Place literally stunk of burnt cooking oil and that's all the food tasted of, baring in mind its an Indian so the food is full of spices anyway. No eggaxeration this was the worst and most disgusting food I have ever tasted in my life.If your the owner reading this then I make no apologies for this scathing review as you seriously need a reality check on the garbage your serving as food. I would seriously look at getting a new chef because if that's his quality of food then he should try a different occupation.

I came in late, after work and ordered a meal for one. The price was great for the quality of food. I ordered take out, chicken tikka chilli masala, spicy chips and tikka & garlic nan. It was delicious and there was a lot of good quality chicken, I couldn't eat it all. I would definitely go back :-)

Was greeted with a smile and the service was excellent, food was also really nice too. Would happily recommend to friends, seems very family friendly. Only good place for a late night weekend curry!

Had two large starters which we shared. Both very tasty. Main dishes excellent. Chicken very tender and says delicious. Very reasonable prices.

Acabo de visitar este establecimiento por segunda vez en los últimos meses. Went to Latif's with work colleagues. Whilst you get a fair amount of food, the quality wasn't great. Very bland and the service was shocking slow. The central location was the only really plus point about the visit. Won't be visiting there again.
