We popped in at 3:40pm 20 mins before closing time, made our order, coffee and a sandwich, didn't seem to be a problem at the time, food and coffee were great!! The younger waitress didn't seem to appreciate that it was getting close to closing time and we were there, saying how they should put a sign on door, no admittance half HR before closing, we finished up and left at 4:04pm sorry we were too much trouble

I visited this cafe for the first time today, it had a really cozy relaxed atmosphere, the staff are really nice too. The coffee is great and I was pleasantly surprised that they offer plant based milks for hot drinks! My only recommendation for improvement is that it'd be nice to see some vegan options on the menu :)

This is a great little place with good quality food pleasant staff and it's clean and reasonably priced. Grandson had egg mayo sarnie and grandma quiche, I fancied poached or fried egg on toast, but they don't do it, I could have scrambled but not the others. A pity really as I ended up with something I didn't really want, great quality though. They do most other things on toast to.

My partner and I often go here for lunch and coffee during lunch hour. We always choose two different Paninis as they are cut in half and we share. We choose the salad too which is always a tasty mix of salad, pasta and potato salad. Nothing too fancy but a great light lunch. Coffee is always fresh and a great taste. Half Price refills is something I wish I had more time to enjoy but certainly a bonus for anyone staying for a while and to read the magazines. We have had a cake once or twice too which are always well presented behind the counter and good value and tasty. Will continue to visit.

This was a real find and not quite the sort of cafe one expects to find in the side streets of Barrow. If it was in a small English country town then there would be no surprise!I arrived late in the afternoon when all the cakes had been spirited away to the fridge but no problem as the cheerful young lady on counter reeled off a long and detailed list. The choice was too great for me to comprehend so I asked for her recommendation. "Vanilla slice." she pronounced with great enthusiasm and her judgement was sound - very sound. One of the finest slices that I've ever encountered. This went down with a good strong pot of tea at which point I fled back to the station to catch my train. Yes, a 'brief encounter' (Carnforth is very close at hand) but a memorable one.

The Last Resort has to be one of the very first places to head to when in Barrow. It is a lovely, clean, friendly and comfortably furnished café that has enough room between the tables inside to not only be able to relax and chat more freely without disturbing the other diners too much but also to easily find space to be able to park up a wheelchair as well. I enjoyed a large and very nicely baked Jacket Potato that was generously topped with one of the very best Chilli that I have had in a café before - and I've had quite a few. The Illy Lattes were also seriously good - and hot drink refills come at half-price.The Engadine Cake that has been previously mentioned on here was a real treat - a thick layer of rich buttery soft toffee and chopped walnuts encased in a thin pastry - it was not only very different from the usual range of café cakes but also well worth me coming all the way from Stockport for! I will definitely be popping in whenever I am back in the area visiting my friend.Having read all the great reviews on here I can also now happily add that The Last Resort Café did not disappoint any of my expectations. It is a great little place that makes a lovely day out visiting and shopping into even more of a pleasure.Thank you!

Buen trabajo Steve!
