Food and service are always good. They also have good hygiene, which is vital to customers. I cannot understand the poor reviews.

We visited 19th Sept 2023. The service was excellent, the waiter was very attentive and helped with our additional request (a little more spice while maintaining the flavours). The fish Pakora starter was fresh and light with plenty of flavour and I would definitely have again and again. One of the best garlic Nan breads we have had and the main (Mirchi chicken with additional heat) was perfect. Great night out - thank you.

Food usually cold or missing just had an order cancelled for no reason. Would avoid if you don’t want to be disappointed

Great for any occasion. We we're made to feel very welcome and looked after from start to finish. The meal was amazing and very reasonably priced. I would definitely revisit again.

We ordered a take away, granted on just eat, lamb korma and chicken balti. All arrived on time, but after eagerly opening my korma i found a lot of sauce and 5 pieces of lamb, electively a soup. I called the restaurant to express my disappointment and they agreed to replace the meal. Happy with that, i waited, to take delivery of exactly the same ( in fairness there was 6 very small lumps of lamb this time….. i use the term ‘lamb’ very loosely!! Mutton to be accurate. Will not be spending my hard earned cash on this rubbish again.

What can I say apart from this was the worst takeaway I’ve ever had!!! We ordered a mixed kebab starter which was bland, rubbery and certainly not not fresh. The poppadoms were stale and inedible. 2 of us shared a chicken tikka bhuna with rice & chips. The curry was watery and had no flavour whatsoever. The rice was congealed and stuck together in large pieces and the chips were under cooked! But by far the worst part was the children's ‘chicken korma with rice and chips’. When I opened the lid it was obvious this wasn’t fresh. The korma ‘sauce’ was watery and had even curdled. The chips and rice were still frozen in parts. I find it extremely disturbing that this restaurant is using frozen meals and reheating them. I don’t know which bit is worse, the fact they freeze meals in advance which is bad enough, or the fact they couldn’t even be bothered to reheat it properly. The only nice thing about this meal was the mint yoghurt dip. We definitely will not order from here again and will be advising friends and family to avoid at all costs.

First time using this takeaway. Time was bang on the 1 hour delivery but... King prawn jalfrezzi main dish £10.50 had 3 tiny shriveled prawns . Butter chicken 5 tiny pieces of chicken and watery sauce £55 for first ever take away won't be going back

Not impressed. Good interior with unmatched service and quality. No value for money. Sticky toffee pudding served with frozen interior and had to be returned. No authenticity in mains and servings with little meat topped with cream and sauces, and packed with sugar. Bored staff with no enthusiasm and only a few around to get attention. Extremely slow service. Not recommended at all.

We turned up at without a booking on New Year's Eve and they helpfully squeezed us in. We felt the staff were genuinely interested in ensuring we enjoyed our food and wanted us to visit again. This will be a definite as the food was really excellent. There are many other Indian restaurant options in the area of Gosforth and while thisRestaurant may not seem to be the smartest, very importantly it is very clean and welcoming inside and most importantly the quality of the food is exceptional. I rarely buy takeaways as I feel the food experience is not as good as eating it straight from the kitchen. Thank you to the staff team for a lovely evening and making our New Year's Eve special.

Have been a customer for many years and enjoyed their food. Forgave them in the past when the order was wrong, smashed poppadoms or missing items. However this time, can't gloss over it. Waited two hours for delivery, I rang after 90 minutes to be told food in kitchen waiting for a delivery driver and no, can't say when that might happen. After two hours wait found onion bhajis dried out and leathery - inedible. The three poppadoms were, once again, smashed to pieces and the chicken in my chicken keema dish was tough. Never had such awful food and crazy delivery time. What's happening DOTR, There is way too much competition out there for you to be operating like this. If I'd been in the restaurant rather than a takeaway customer i would have left well before I discovered the bhajis were inedible. So disappointed.

Lived around the corner for 2 years, putting up with sub standard curries and finally we’ve found somewhere top quality. It’s the best curry I’ve had locally and I’ve tried at least the closest 10 places to NE3, wish I tried here first. Keep going and you’ve got yourself a regular now.

We ordered using Uber eats, ordering the 5 course special which states you’re allowed “Any one starter, any one main, and one rice dish, any one side dish, any one nan” (however you’re not presented with the option of a side dish). Some of us ordering have different dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan) and found, to our disappointment, that the five course deal did not have any vegetarian/ vegan options, despite stating any main could be chosen, which would include vegetarian dishes the restaurant offer. Prior to ordering we phoned the restaurant to enquire about this issue. We asked whether we would be able to add notes to the delivery, specifying which curries we would like the meat option to be substituted for; something from the vegetarian section of the menu-not the special menu- which also happen to be cheaper than the original choice (the dishes were D.R Calcutta potatoes, £4.40, D.R Aubergine and Green Capsicum Curry, £4.65). The request was met with no concern from the restaurant and that there would be no issue. Not once was any additional charges mentioned, and we were given the go ahead to order, with the reassurance our dietary requirements would met. We placed our order which cost £75.20. To make sure our request wasn’t lost in the process of ordering through Uber Eats, we phoned the restaurant again just to make it absolutely clear what we wanted, otherwise half of us wouldn’t be able to have their order. This time, a previously unmentioned charge was brought to our attention; after trying to find some reason for why this unforeseen charge was unfairly forced upon us, we were met with half explanations that didn’t fully make sense. Since we had already payed for our food, we were extremely confused- our money had been sent to the restaurant so we weren’t in a position to refuse- we wanted to make sure our food would be sent to us, with the correct dietary requirements. When the order arrived, the (non-uber) delivery driver demanded £3 from us, as requested from his boss. I wasn’t made aware of this £3 charge, it never appeared on the app and I didn’t engage with the restaurant on the phone. Following some discussion with the driver, who didn’t seem too sure himself, he got his manager on the phone to speak to me directly. I was presented with a confrontational and irritated manager who was extremely snarky and didn’t want to listen to my confused questioning of why this extra charge was conceived. I removed myself from this distressing situation by hanging up, and informed the delivery driver (who was polite and understanding) I would not be paying a fee I wasn’t made aware of at any time leading up to and including the purchase. We started sorting through the order believing the issue had been resolved. Alas, we were startled by aggressive knocking on the door which would absolutely have disturbed the neighbours on a Sunday evening. For our personal safety and feeling intimidated, we were reluctant to answer the door, with hopes that whoever was knocking would leave eventually, which they did (after what could’ve been 10 minutes). The harassment didn’t stop there, however. My personal mobile was flooded with calls from the restaurant, none of which I answered. The manager left a voice message which I did listen to, a threat that “further action would be taken” was told to me. Because of the sinister tone in his voice, I could only assume what this means. As for the food, it was very average and certainly not worth this entire ordeal. The price was reasonable, however this experience has completely and utterly deterred me from ever using this establishment again. Also there was a grey hard boiled egg in one of the curries.

Meal wasn't great for me. Tarka daal was bland, missing seasoning and key flavours. Paneer tikka masala had aubergine and okra in it which was very random - never experienced this before anywhere else and wasn't great. The best things for me was the naan and masala poppadoms. On a positive note, the customer service was brilliant and staff were very welcoming.

Get takeaways here once a month and won't go anywhere else. Naan breads are superb. Great range of specials too. Spend over 50 pounds and you get a bottle of wine.

Booked a table for 7 pm via their website earlier today,money to find that they didn't check for bookings! However, a very friendly welcome and promptly shown to a table.We have eaten here often, albeit slightly later, and always felt that we were somewhat ignored as take-away orders seemed to take preference. No such thing this evening.Extremely prompt service, superb food as usual, no intrusive background music, reasonably priced and home within an hour. Perfect.A reasonable choice of wines, beer/lager on drought, hot towels and sweeties to finish, everything spot on.

En 7,50 me llamaron para verificar en mis pedidos. Dijo que el señor de la entrega había dejado hace 15 minutos! Esperé hasta las 8,15 y luego nos dimos por vencidos. La comida podría haber sido excepcional, pero el servicio de entrega es horrible.

Pedimos comida para llevar desde aquí por primera vez esta noche y me dijeron que nuestra comida estaría allí a la hora. 1 hora y 20 minutos más tarde, la comida llegó y simplemente no estaba al nivel sobre todo teniendo en cuenta el costo de la comida. No sólo era tarde, no había un plato falta, uno de los otros platos era completamente equivocados, el plato principal estaba solo medio lleno y lo peor de todo no sólo uno, sino dos pequeños huesos encontrado en uno de los platos. Llamamos al restaurante para hacerles saber de horror sólo para ser la despacharon con el típico 'le enviaremos algo la próxima vez", que no se que hacer, ya que sin duda alguna no regresaremos este horrible establecimiento.. muy decepcionante desde un restaurante con una buena reputación.

Un lugar donde usted será bienvenido desde el momento en que subir las escaleras, teníamos un sábado por la noche comida, fue sirve eficientemente, y discreto servicio. This was a treat from my mother for my anniversary. We new of the raj when it was the bay horse. So as we arrived to a completely different building. We went on a Thursday at 6pm and would advise you book. The food was excellent. The staff were great help (even the new lad that had just started) will happily return thanks for a brilliant night

Order placed via JustEat. No delivery of meal at time suggested. Called and spoke to the staff who stated they had no record of the order. I decided not to proceed with a further order, however the order later arrived expecting cash payment even though the credit had been taken online. Spoke to a member of staff on the phone who was rude. I will not be ordering from the Days of Raj again.

Simple, I came here on the back of an advert on their website offering starter, main, side, rice and naan for £9.95. Came in and placed two orders for the above and was curious when the calculator came out. Surely a calculator isn't needed to work out 10p change from my £20. No, apparently my bill was £25.90!!!! I pointed to their "offer" on the menu offering ANY starter, ANY main etc to be told that no, this was for a special menu with HALF portions. I asked where that was mentioned in their offer and was told "no sir, that is something different". I told him yes it is something different, it's called false advertising and it's illegal and he muttered something about no, it's not. He then decided to knock 90p off so he only scammed me out of a round fiver. Were it not for having a heavily pregnant and overdue wife at home keen to try any old wives take and the fact that the indian at south gosforth is closed on a Tuesday I'd have walked. To add insult to injury I am writing this review IN THE TAKE AWAY 35 minutes after having placed my order. Avoid at all costs

We visited last night and had a great evening.The welcome on arrival was swift and appeared genuine.The decoration and layout of the place was really good.We did not use one of the deals on offer which seemed very good value.While the place was not busy, we were neither rushed or ignored. That balance is one we really value and the staff got it spot on for us.The food was very good and well presented - and from an extensive menu.The price for what we ordered was very reasonable.At the end we were presented with a tray of a variety of sweets to eat while we paid the bill.The only downside we could envisage is parking when the place is busy. But that was not the case last night.We will certainly return soon.
