Nowhere near as good as it used to be. The roast was still of a pretty good standard but it used to be exceptional. I wouldn’t rush to visit again.

We had our annual awards dinner at The Larwood & Voce and we could not have asked for more from the team. From the start, the menu was well priced (£22 for a 3 course meal) the pre-dinner organisation by Grace and Tommy was excellent and the event itself ran like clockwork. Great feedback from members about the food and we’re already starting the ball rolling for the same again next year.

This place used to do a great Sunday roast and then had a real dip in quality for the last few years. Well, it’s back to a great standard now. Service was good too. Few problems: beer horrible (Sticky Wicket), the sticky toffee pudding may as well have been made of rubber, and will any pub ever do a decent roast potato?

We were a group of 12 at Trent Bridge for the Saturday of the West Indies test match. We were able to get a last minute booking for lunch at the pub. It was absolutely fantastic. The food was exceptional and was only beaten by the fantastic service. We were all amazed at how efficient everyone was despite the numbers of people in the pub. All your staff should be commended for their excellence. We will definitely be back for the next test match there. 5 Stars is not enough.

Haven't been here for ages but boy, its looking run down. The whole bar area feels grubby, sticky tables and torn open plastic seat covering on the seats that run along the windows. There was also a distinct smell of drains in the bar. Having used the toilets I could see where it was coming from. The toilets seriously in need of some renovation. When you ask for a "pint" of coke beware, they fill the glass half way up with ice and then the coke, so you're paying for a pint of coke but getting half a pint in the glass. Very sneaky! I wouldn't fancy eating here with how grubby everything looks and feels and we wont' be stopping by for a drink again either I'm afraid.

Very dissapointed, 65 mins to bring our meals even though only 2 tables occupied. Food very poor, chips tiny and too hard to eat, meat in pie very chewy. Ordered coffee and tea and after 20 mins had to ask when we were getting them. 2 hours 10 mins for one course and coffee. Only one staff member on duty having to deal with bar and restaurant. Expensive for a very average meal. Only about 6 choices on the main courses of which I struggled to choose, service was ok-ish. Slightly disappointed as the pub had been highly recommended so I was expecting better. The toilets were not very clean and lacked the basics. We ate lunch here prior to going to Trent Bridge to watch Nottinghamshire play county cricket - the pub is right outside the cricket ground and therefore is a convenient spot to meet up and eat/drink before the game. The food was good, as was the beer, which we consumed at tables outside in the sunshine. By comparison, the ambiance inside seemed a bit dark and the bar sitting area is pretty large.

Ordered some breakfast sandwiches which took 40 minutes to come out - they should take 10 minutes surely (frying some bacon and putting it on bread…) Saw one of the waitresses come back with bread in an M and S bag so presumably the kitchen ran out of ingredients. Asked the manager for assistance who assured the food was on the way but took another 15 mins after this. The food was ok. I wouldn’t recommend or return.

I have been to the Larwood a number if times since lockdown restrictions were lifted. I have always found really good facilities, registration on entry, a good one way system, plenty of hand sanitizer, very clean throughout, tables positioned for social distancing, staff all in masks. We had the fish and chips, beer battered catch, this is a gastropub pub and the fish and chips were of that calibre. The fish was fresh and well cooked and the batter was light an crisp. The chips were lovely and the mush peas were fantastic. I also had the richest chocolate brownie which was fabulous. The staff are always lovely and friendly and the service was as ever, excellent. Am I a Pub or a Restaurant? I don’t know which!Larwood & VoceWe were 6 Adults & 4 children for a birthday celebration meal. This was our first time here. My initial impression was that it was very busy. .. A little cluttered & it had more of a cafe feel than a restaurant. It seems to me that it can’t decide if it is a pub with food or a cocktail bar or a restaurant. The prices tend to suggest the latter! ‘…….The restaurant area maintains an air of 'busy calm……’ I have read that the restaurant/bar had a £50,000 refurbishment last year but the decoration look tired....the paintwork on all the doors out to the toilets was badly worn.Service was excellent considering how busy they were. Well done to the waitress. There was a lot of children & a number of birthday parties. Indeed, they market themselves on welcoming children,& the kids’ meals were very good….fish & chips, Cheese & Mac, Sausage & chips.....although a bit pricey. £6.50The food was excellent; lamb, beef & pork were cooked lovely. The only slight complaint was; my son had ‘The Proper Roast’ with all 3 meats. He said the pork & beef were great, but the lamb seemed to be the off- cuts or end bits which were very fatty. £18.50I had the lamb roast……there was plenty of food; mash, carrots, cabbage, roast potatoes & a yorkshire pudding which was huge. The plate was crammed….but not with lamb! ….about 5 small slices.Single meat roast 14.50Rather expensive price matches the food but not the surroundings. a lot of bustle & noise…don’t go if you want a quiet meal! All in all a great Family Sunday roast, all be it on the pricey side.

Saturday lunchtime visit to celebrate a family birthday...the quality of the food that I chose was poor - Guinness and stilton rarebit promised so much but was bland, just two small pieces of bread with a very light application of the rarebit topping. It tasted of little other than bread. My main course of smoked haddock and egg was disappointing too - very dry and overcooked. Surely the point of a dish such as this is to have runny egg yolk combining with the fish, but that is never going to happen when the yolks are solid, and in fact only just the right side of being burnt. Some of the dishes chosen by others did seem better, although the chips accompanying my wife's dish were undercooked...by which I mean still hard. At least, I suppose, that does show that they were made from fresh potatoes.I did not complain at the time simply to avoid spoiling my brother-in-law's birthday, and, aside from my experience of the food, we had a good time. One last point - the bar prices are very high for what is, basically, a pretty ordinary pub.

I visited the restaurant last weekend with my better half. We had a brilliant afternoon tucking into the best roast dinner we’ve had in years. The food was complimented by our waiter (Steven). He couldn’t have been more helpful and really made our trip memorable. The menu looked so appealing which left me torn between 3 or 4 dishes. Steven was ever so helpful and really expressed a genuine interest in what I may enjoy as well as the wine that accompanied each dish. I went with the roast as I had been told it was really good. Boy was it nice too! It completely filled me up. We ended up sharing a lovely bread and butter pudding as we couldn’t manage one ourselves. The whole experience was 5 star and I can’t wait to return. Thank you to Steven and the guys who made the experience one we won’t forget in a hurry.

From walking in to leaving everything was great. Service friendly and relaxed. Food was amazing. Tomahawk steak was perfectly cooked. The manager Matt couldn’t do enough for us. Definitely will go again.

Situated within the precincts of Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, the pub is not overly "themed" - contemporary styled, spacious, with a long, well stocked bar and plenty of tables. The usual TV screens were fairly muted, thankfully and the whole place looked quite comfortable. On site parking is very much at a premium though and street parking could be somewhat problematic. We were lucky, for a Friday lunchtime. After choosing our ales from a good selection, my companion & I found a corner table in the restaurant area and settled into very comfortable easy chairs, to peruse the menu. This reflected a fair choice of the usual "pub grub" favourites, some quite interesting "starters & tapas" as well as a selection of "mains & deserts." Not to mention a list of pretty exotic gins! My chicken & leek pie (impressive pastry) with a creamy mash and nicely "al dente" greens in a very tasty gravy, was really very good. My companion too, endorsed his fish based meal. Service was a tad slow for a fairly quiet lunchtime, but staff were pleasant enough and the food hot and well presented. Fair value too. This was our second lunchtime visit and won't be our last.

Booked today for Sunday lunch having visited the Lord Nelson (partner pub) many times and never been disappointed. Today however the Sunday lunch was very disappointing in quality and over priced for quality. Overall the food was not hot and the lamb was really fatty and tasteless. Advertised as roast with all the trimmings you had to pay extra for roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese and stuffing and was overpriced. Not good value for money.

On the way to the hopsital we visited here for a drink after it was recommended by a family member I was quite surprised at this venue as tucked away down a back street and stood back like a basic pub. After entering it looked ok but nothing memorable and service was good with cold drinks served, we didnt eat so cant comment on food but didnt stand out in my mind as somewhere to go back to.

Nice venue but poor value for money. For £25 a head I expected a decent meal. Instead got tapas style food to share but sadly not a lot of it .... really quite disappointing.

I have eaten here through most times of the day and usually the whole package is very good. Their breakfasts on Test Match days have a great reputation as witnessed by the very full tables. As ever the service (Ellie) was terrific and led to a nice relaxed easy-going atmosphere. The Full English Breakfast was still of the finest ingredients but the cooking was not quite to the top level of previous years, although still quite good. Have they changed the chef? For snacks during the match their scotch eggs and sausage rolls are excellent.. There is a terrific range of beers at very good value.

We first ate at Larwood on Boxing Day 2016 and had a fantastic meal in a buzzing lively atmosphere. So thinking we had found a gem, went back on Friday to treat our daughter and her partner. The clue should have been the half-empty dining room, as everywhere else we had tried was fully booked. Service on arrival was OK. The menu looked decent and did have veggie options. Starters were OK - not much can go wrong with soup and prawns. The mains were a disappointment. My husband chose a roasted cauliflower steak. What arrived was a few pieces of oily roasted cauliflower, a smear of mash and some toppings. The plate was only half full. Given that vegetables are really not that expensive, there could have been much more of the cauliflower and potato. The presentation was terrible as well. I had burger and chips, which was OK although the chips were not great. My daughter had chicken which was dry and served with three mini corn on the cobs which were all burnt! We could have had pudding but after eating the mains, felt disinclined to part with any more money for such inferior food. It's not cheap and really should do a lot better. The whole thing felt lack lustre and uncared for and just not very good. Sadly, we won't be rushing back!

Had a buffet here for my mum's wake as it was so convenient for Wilford Hill. Can't praise them enough as everything was so great and they made us very welcome. My friend took some photos and ornaments the day before and they were happy to arrange them in the function area for us. They really helped make a difficult day very easy. Thankyou so much.

A relatively new find for us, but so pleased to have found it. Fabulous area outside with pods meaning you can enjoy the outside even when the weather is not so good. Good choice of beers, and a great menu with sensible prices. Table service with attentive staff too. Highly recommended.

We were sat next to an air conditioner that was blowing out freezing cold air. We asked if this could be turned off as it was so cold & the waitress rudely said no as it would get too hot and that she would bring a rug to put over it. Suffice to say that never appeared so had to put my coat over my legs & put 2 cocktail menus over the top of the air conditioner. There is limited choice on the menu unless you like chips and anything with sweet chilli or creamy sauces. I had an open sandwich with fillet steak pieces in Gorgonzola sauce. The sauce was so overpowering it was sickly. I like Gorgonzola but this was awful. One of our party did not get their food & we had to ask where it was. Apparently there was a mix up in the kitchen & he had to wait about 15 mins for it to be served but did get a free drink as a goodwill gesture. The food is overpriced for what you get and the service was extremely slow. We were there for 3 hours for just 2 courses. We definitely will not be returning to any of their establishments in the group. There were many other things like the very greasy onion rings & the really chewy halloumi sticks and that the yakatori sticks are mostly made up of onion.

A real surprise didn’t seem like much from the outside but soon has you come in it’s like a funky surprise a very layed back place very clean but check the menu out a great selection on offer plus some if you’re a real ale person or fancy a beer they seem to have a good range on draft but yes a really chilled out place while waiting for the train much reasonable prices than star bucks or costa bomb buy nice service also .
