Had the breakfast, great quality of the items on the plate and so big enough for the two of us to share. It was also hot until we finished the meal Had a beer in the right glass for the brand and served at the right temperature. Staff friendly and open to most requests. Clean table but did feel the carpet in the back bar was pretty shabby and dirty so knocked one star off for that. But the breakfast easily the best one I have had in Dawlish over the years so will be back.

First visit to this pub. It's in the centre of Dawlish but away from the busy Strand area. We found it very friendly both with the staff and regulars. A nice pint of Dartmoor Jail Ale. We both opted for the all day breakfast, one small and one large. Freshly cooked and excellent value served with either tea or coffee. We will definitely return.

What a great pub!!! Went to watch a local band (Go Tell Alice) who were excellent. Landlord (Andy) was actively involved on the customer side of the bar, chatting to us all and when he realised it was our first visit went out of his way to get us a free drink. Pub has a great selection of customers ranging from established locals (Some real characters amongst them...) to holidaymakers. The landlord makes them all feel at home.

Popped in for lunch only to be told by the most miserable barmaid who was also quite unfriendly verging on the rude that they don't do food any more only breakfast. Thought we would have a drink each and scanned the pub which only contained seven patrons that the place still had the same fittings as around 20 years ago and that it was looking pretty shabby. Went to the downstairs toilet and found urine across the seat, no soap in the dispenser and the air dryer was working. Also a mop bucket had been dumped by the toilet, really not a cheerful place at all so won't be returning despite living in the town. Just feels like the owners the Barton brothers have given up as standards have really slipped over the last few years

Bar tender was very rude, unwelcoming and had a terrible attitude. There’s customer service with a smile, and then there’s her. She badmouthed us in blatant ear-shot of us( we were 2 metres away from her.) She was unfriendly, sassy and I feel so disappointed by the service at a pub I have been coming to for 20 years. Perhaps was new I’m not inclined to return. Poor.

The six of us popped in for a quick drink whilst on holiday as a family. We were greeted by one of the locals who thought it was acceptable to insult my brother in-law based on a hair style using homophobic slurs. Unfortunately… or fortunately, I didn’t hear as I was tending to my son, but as far as I am concerned, nothing was said/done from the barman to rein in his mate. Obviously common practice. Here for another week. Won’t be stepping foot anywhere near the place. I’d suggest that anyone without a short back and sides do the same. I don’t accept this behaviour, I’ll be doing some more reviews on social media unless this review receives an apology. Unbelievable.

Stumbled across this place whilst looking for somewhere to eat in Dawlish not fancying any of the central cafes and takeaways. Huge traditional pub with friendly locals and barstaff. The first bonus being that it sells traditional still ciders which is a rarity. Next was we ordered 2 steak baguette's with sides of chips and it came out cooked to perfection ( medium rare as requested) with onion and mushroom on top with a great salad and skin on chips. A fantastic meal, far better than we expected and at a brilliant price. The Landlords response when we gave our compliments was that he cooked it himself, it's nothing special "that's just how it comes". Next time we are in Dawlish we won't consider eating anywhere else.

Friendly village pub. Stayed for a couple of nights. Room was a bit tired and damp. If you are on business and want to have breakfast you will probably be out of luck as it is served between 9-10am. Good selection of ales and cider. Everything just a bit sticky.
