Reluctantly writing a review about the fantastic Lamb in Axbridge. I don’t want you to know how brilliant the food is, or how wonderful the staff are, you might fill the place. But, feel compelled to share we love this place for lunch, dinner or just a couple of pints! Don’t go, it’s fantastic! And definitely don’t have the superb fish n chips!

A wonderfully accommodating pub even when they were fully booked. lovely staff always helpful meaning you’re served with a smiling face and old fashioned British hospitality. The manager was great to chat with and offered great advice on local trips sightseeing spots. The pub was a very memorable part of our trip to lovely Axbridge

Had a really nice meal here. As we hadn't reserved a table, there were none left in the restaurant but they told us we could sit in the pub area and eat, which we preferred because it has so much character and the Olympics was on. The food tasted really nice and was reasonably priced and my husband especially enjoyed the beers on offer. Easy to park in the main square for the pub and can also sit outside.

My family and I had the pleasure of eating here on Sunday 22nd October. I had called the Lamb Inn at 2.30pm whilst we were in Paignton Zoo in the hope of a table for four that night at 6.30pm. Holding out little hope at such short notice the receptionist placed me on hold to check with her colleagues and amazing she arranged a table for us at 6.30pm. When we arrived we were shown to our reserved table and offered a menu. We ordered an assortment of ciders, soft drinks and cocktails which promptly arrived and then ordered food. Reading the menu it all sounded delicious but my daughter was hoping for a Sunday roast. She is a vegetable and gravy loving monster, but due to the time this was no longer being served. Seeing her disappointment I asked the staff member if it was possible to have a Sunday roast and she stunned us by saying that she would have it made especially as long as we didn't mind receiving a multitude of different vegetables instead of the ones in the menu, my daughter was over the moon. When the food arrived it looked amazing and tasted delicious. The Sunday roast was staggering. There were mountains of vegetables, crispy potatoes, parsnips, cabbage and peas and two large thick slices of beef hidden under a huge Yorkshire pudding smothered in gravy. Then the waitress brought out a full boat of gravy just for my daughter. Just above and beyond. This Inn is a real Gem. Quaint, Friendly and accommodating. Thank you everyone working at the Lamb Inn you are all a credit to your employer. Keep up the great five star customer service.

Having had a very good Sunday lunch on the 10th September my wife and I knew we'd be back in the Axbridge area for a week staying at our son's house and arriving late on Saturday 7th October. Thus when we paid our bill on the 10th September at the bar and engaging in a lot of chat we 100% booked for Sunday 8th October and this was entered onto the Lamb's system.. We were even asked if we wanted the same places but said we'd like a change and this was all booked in. Having just returned from abroad, I thought out of courtesy I'd check our lunch time as well as confirm we would be on time. To our great shock we were told our booking didn't exist and the Lamb was full. So someone at the Lamb seriously fouled up. Apologies no good since for some reason our booking had disappeared and there was no compromise. What I thought should have happened is an admittance of an error and an attempt to fit in 2 people but this did not happen. Needless to say we are still quite disgusted after leaving it a few days to reflect on this gross inefficiency. We support local food outlets but no wonder they are closing down in the area if that's how customers are treated. J.Breen

We ate at the Lamb Inn on 2 consecutive nights during a short stay in Axebridge after finding it by chance. Can’t speak highly enough of this place from the excellent service and friendliness from its young well trained staff, the cleanliness of the interior and the quality and presentation of the food. The Sunday roast was one of the best we’ve ever had, fresh vegetables, generous portions , really tasty. It offered my husband a separate gluten-free menu, something that is often hard to find and really appreciated as it just added to our wonderful experience. The only downside, we don’t live close enough to be regulars.

Sat outside front of pub, for lunch, sadly local workmen were spending their lunch hour drinking, smoking and swearing standing around the front doorway right by the tables where we were eating our food. My fish cake, saag aloo and egg dish was swimming with oil so was swapped for the fish goujons in a roll which was at least edible. All the meals are way over priced for the size and £4:50 for a very small potion of chips is ridiculous when they should be included (as with most other establishments) We definitely would not recommend visiting for lunch

Went on a Saturday night. Despite pub being very busy we were seated promptly and well looked after throughout the evening. Food when it came was excellent - generous portions and all tasted superb. The steak was a particular highlight - the best I’ve had in a long time. Everything was very reasonably priced. The pub itself as a venue is lovely - very traditional and for a high end pub meal as opposed to a restaurant type experience I would strongly recommend.

We walked from Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa which took approx 20 mins which went along The Strawberry Line. When we arrived we got greeted by a lovely lady behind the bar (can't remember her name but she had two plaits) We had booked so got taken to our table which was ready. We got given our menus and got asked what we would like to drink. We saw some specials on the board (2) also. My husband had Chicken & Ham pie, mash and brocolli, myself a small portion of Haddock & Chips & peas, my son Fishcake & Chips & peas and my daughter Chicken Thigh, Chips and brocolli. My husband said the pie was quite bland, my fish and chips were quite greasy but the fish in the batter was lovely and fresh. My son & daughter enjoyed there meals. From there the service went downhill, we constantly had to ask for things and the wait for the desserts was long. My children had the Brownie Sundae and the biscoff doughnuts which were children's portions at £4.95. My daughters was quite good value but my sons doughnuts were two small balls stuffed with biscoff and a small ball of ice cream which we thought for the price wasn't good value. We thought the food was expensive for what we got and had better elsewhere on the holiday but we visited on a Wednesday which you can get 25% off using the Butcombe app as they are part of this group. Overall probably wouldn't return.

Well, the old adage in the restaurant business of, 'you are only as good as your last service' certainly fits with todays visit. 02/07/2023 Very sadly I have to say that the Sunday roast at The Lamb Inn was just about OK and certainly not up to previous standards when my wife and I have eaten before. I had the beef roast which was described as being cooked as medium rare with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and seasonal veg, finished with red wine gravy. The beef was over cooked, one slice being a little crispy. Neither slice was medium rare. The potatoes were cooked ok but certainly not roast. The parsnips were quite underdone and not roast either. My Yorkshire pudding was well done on the top and the base a little soggy. The gravy was possibly being of the packet kind and a little salty. My wife had the turkey roast (originally supposed to be chicken roast) which was a turkey roll, not as advertised as a turkey roast! The stuffing was tiny and the the complaints about the veg apply to this meal as well. On the plus side, both meals were hot, served on hot plates and were edible, but, and I stress but, nothing to write home about. Very sad as local residents (Cheddar) we have always enjoyed coming over to Axbridge to visit The Lamb. The pub has dropped off my local list.

Walked to this pub from Cheddar Woods. Its set in a lovely village square and is very welcoming. We opted for the steak and ale pie and were very happy with our choice, the food was delicious, probably the best pie we have eaten out....

Dont try to have a meal here on your own as they dont serve to those of us wanting a meal before visiting family. Appalling and such dated behaviour.

First meal since lockdown, and it didn’t disappoint. The change of management has had an instant positive impact. C19 rules mean more space and table service.

We popped in just for a quick drink, because of COVID we had to sit outside (understandably). Luckily there were plenty of seats and brollies to protect us from a couple of downpours!! They were very COVID compliant regarding, menus, masks, distancing, and plenty of...

We’ve come here for years for Sunday lunch, but our meals today were not as good as we’ve had before. Portion size was small with the individual gravy jug dominating the plate rather than the food. Yorkshire pub info were flat. When one of our...

This is one of only three places I’ve eaten in since the start of the pandemic. I felt the Lamb had very clear procedures to keep its clients safe. The ambience and general decoration were very lovely perhaps because of it being Christmas but it looks like it’s a warm and interesting place at any time of year. All the food was excellent and worthy of a return visit. Axbridge is a delightful place with most interesting buildings and a lovely reservoir to walk around and build an appetite.

I believe the pub is under new management, and they have made it look absolutely stunning. The pub is totally covid friendly, whilst maintaining a lovely atmosphere. The food offering was delicious, with a specials board as well as a main menu. The service second to none, friendly and quick. Would highly recommend booking here, and in fact have booked for New Years Eve.

I like Blackmore Farm tearooms usually but today service was poor. Ordered 2 flat white coffees both lukewarm. Also ordered 2 cream teas, since when does a ceram tea come with no tea? If the assistant had said I needed to order tea separately I would have. I'd finished my scone before knowing. Spoilt the experience.
