The Kitchen@Tower in City of London, Westminster

We stumbled across this gem whilst doing some sight seeing and it was the best breakfast I have ever had. All local produce and freshly cooked. Staff were so friendly and helpful. They don’t have a children’s breakfast menu but my son ordered the waffles and devoured the lot. Perfect setting for breakfast.

Booked for breakfast at 9am arrived and it had just opened, not particularly welcoming, but music was put on and we were given a menu, asked for granola, had to check if they had any as they had ran out yesterday, they did! Had the continental breakfast, miniscule butter, asked for more and was given it, if a little begrudgingly, very central, lovely venue but wouldn't go back due to lack of staff interaction but we did get fed!

We stopped by this restaurant after spending the morning in the Tower of London in the rain. The restaurant was just around the corner and up the hill from the Thames. The food was great and the service was quick and friendly. The outside of the restaurant had a wall of greenery and was glass on the three sides. In better weather there is a nice garden to enjoy your meal. Highly recommend! Would eat there again!

Reserved a table for 3 for breakfast but we were literally the only ones here for the first hour. Easy to find now I know where it is but struggled to initially find it, but a great location and reasonably price. Restaurant wasn't warm. Ordered 2 vege breakfasts however, one order came with bacon and sausage - but they rectified this straight away and they had run out of oat milk. Would certainly go here again.

We had our wedding reception here. Was absolutely fantastic- the whole venue is for your private use and right in the center of London. The Byward is so ambient with the church connections and Tower of London in the background it was truly the Wedding Reception of our dreams! As the Byward is family owned they can accommodate any request from decor to dietary needs and meal options and table settings are all customised. My whole evening was bespoke and arranged between myself and the manager Natalie. Natalie is a wonderful organiser and point of contact she went above and beyond to make the day go seamlessly. Many guests said it was the best wedding food they have ever had! Thank you to Natalie and all the wonderful staff at The Byward. Truly a one of a kind venue in London perfect for any event. Thank you for a wonderful Wedding Reception.

Accueil très sympathique, cadre très original : le restaurant est accolé à une église. On passe un très bon moment en famille mais il ne faut pas s’attendre à de la haute gastronomie ! Carte très sommaire , idéal pour un repas rapide entre deux visites de sites touristiques.

After visiting the Tower of London I googled "restaurants near me" and this little place popped up. Within a short walk from the Tower, it's tucked away on Byward Street and has such a nice atmosphere. Byward, by far, has the best fish-n-chips I had while in London. They use more of a tempura-like batter on the fish as opposed to the heavy breaded batter we got in pubs. My only complaint is that I wish there had been two pieces of fish rather than just one (it was good sized, however). I would have happily paid a bit more for two.

My family and I celebrated my mum's 80th birthday over the bank holiday weekend at Byward Kitchen and Bar. This was the end result of months of planning and thanks to Natalie, Francis and the rest of the staff, the celebrations went off without a hitch. My mother had a wonderful time, as did the rest of my family. The food was good, the staff was great and it was a lovely restaurant. Thank you to all involved.

Walk straight out of the church and into this cute cafe. This was our second time here for breakfast. It was warm, cosy and quiet. Very friendly staff and great coffee and food. It would be beautiful in summer.

We went for breakfast, and our waiter had a very condescending attitude. When I asked for a cream for my coffee, he immediately corrected me and said milk and I thought that he did not understand me so I repeated no cream, and he looked at me and said milk in a very stern way. Staff outnumbered customers but nevertheless several drifted past me aimlessly before one did a double take and realised I was waiting to be seated. Ordered the English breakfast without baked beans. Despite repeating this twice, it was served with beans. The rest of the meal was unimpressive. An underbrowned sausage made me nervous to taste it (but it was cooked throughout); mushrooms had so little flavour and poor texture - rubbery and bland. Scrambled eggs were also bland, blindfold I’d have struggled to identify what I was eating. Bacon was slightly burnt but the best part of the meal. Once finished I asked for my bill and waited and waited. The numerous waiting staff standing idly by seemed to have collective amnesia. Paid at the bar. Friendly smiles and thanks on way out but too late to win me back.

We went here in summer having found it by chance. When we went back to London in winter, be booked for breakfast on two days as it’s just so lovely. The slightly eccentric gentleman (with a mistrust of an iPad!) is the most wonderful, considerate and polite host. Such a pleasure to meet and be around. The food, and tea/coffee is fabulous, and the location is second to none. It’s made us rethink booking breakfast in the hotel we always stay in, as here is so lovely. It’s like being in a beautiful summer conservatory, but when we last visited, with gorgeous Christmas decorations too. Can’t rate it highly enough. We’ll be back, many times.

Our group of 4 stopped in for breakfast prior to visiting the Tower of London. Byward ended up surprising us all and becoming one of the highlights of our entire trip to London. The location and vibe was absolutely perfect. The staff beyond helpful and extremely nice. Last but not least the food was fantastic.
