AWFUL! Pros: beautiful grounds, nice restaurant except lack of view due to height of bushes outside windows. Amazing service, lovely waitresses. Cons: £39.90 for myself and my 6 year old. I bought this as a real treat for is, nothing I would normally be able to afford and just so gutted I wasted my money. The menu stated, smoked salmon bruschetta, coronation chicken wrap, hummus’s ciabatta and a prawn gem cup. We got none of this!!! We got 4 triangle sandwiches consisting of salmon. Ham. Cheese. Chicken. The bread was hard. There certainly was no wrap, ciabatta or prawn cup!!! The cakes were nice. The scones were not even edible!!!! Dry, they had clearly been microwaved and had gone hard over time. Essentially, I paid £40 to eat a ham sandwich and a slice of lemon cake. I’m sooo pleased I got to experience this before I considered a wedding here, because if they can’t get a basic afternoon tea right, there’s no hope for a wedding breakfast!! My Aldi scones were much nicer. I did tell the waitress but she just shrugged in agreement, clearly not the first time she had heard this complaint. Save your money. Book elsewhere. Such a shame as the venue and staff are wonderful!!

Some people have posted negative reviews about afternoon tea at Broome Park. We can't understand why! We had a really lovely afternoon tea there yesterday. Everything was delicious - dainty sandwiches, lovely little cakes (and plenty of them) and fruit and plain scones with jam and lashings of cream. Friendly efficient service. Have just recommended to friends for their wedding anniversary treat. We will definitely return when we feel in need of a treat ourselves!

We had afternoon tea for a birthday treat. The spread was average; prawns used in the sandwiches were small and rubbery, the clotted cream was poor quality and the scones powdery and tasteless. I feel completely sure the lemon drizzle cake was from a pack. There was no tea menu and the teabags used in the pot were of a catering standard. The staff kindly presented us with a birthday slice of cake with a candle but the timing was off in that it arrived as we were eating the savoury part of the tea. All in all okay but it could have been so much better. I wanted to mention also that rather inexplicably, all the curtains in the tea room had been tied back with bits of plastic. Very odd and detracted from otherwise quite nice surroundings. On the upside, the waiting staff were sweet. Would I return? Probably not, but I think it’s because I am a fussy afternoon tea consumer :-0

Polite staff, ordered in store and ready in 10 mins! Ordered special chow mein, egg fried rice, mini spring rolls, chicken curry, and sweet and sour chicken balls. Every item was faultless and delicious. Highly recommend.

Of late you can no longer get a takeaway coffee in before work, (unless work is next door), as in their wisdom coffee is now only available from 0830, now too tight a window for some of us in Canterbury to get a decent one before we start at 9.

I wanted to try eating out for the first time in uni (I haven't done so the past years) but haven't done so because I have social anxiety and it was too stressful. Since I have a friend with me this time, I decided to check it out. I ordered a cheeseburger, but when it arrived, it looked different. I was deliberating whether or not to complain, but I was scared to do so. I started thinking maybe burgers look different here, because it was cheaper than others. I didn't want anyone to get in trouble so I just decided to accept it. The lady who looked like the manager approached me and said that I should have told them because now somebody else is missing their food. I know it was also a mistake on my part, but she did not have to make me feel so bad about it. I didn't have the appetite to eat anymore, even though I was starving before all this happened (I did not even have breakfast). In the first place, they were also mistaken. I also deserved an apology but there was none said. Just because we are just students doesn't mean we deserve this kind of treatment. I am even willing to pay for my mistake if only I was told in a way that is not condescending. I cried on my way home. It was supposed to be a nice meal with my friend but everything was soiled by the end. The chips were okay, I guess, but to be honest I couldn't pay attention to the taste because I was so embarrassed and upset. I'm reading reviews here and it seems like getting orders wrong happens a lot. Maybe you need to do something about this, other than making the customers feel bad. I want to repeat, it's not the fact that I was told I made a mistake which upset me, but the tone in which this statement was made. Never coming here again.
