Mungo's in Canterbury

I wanted to try eating out for the first time in uni (I haven't done so the past years) but haven't done so because I have social anxiety and it was too stressful. Since I have a friend with me this time, I decided to check it out. I ordered a cheeseburger, but when it arrived, it looked different. I was deliberating whether or not to complain, but I was scared to do so. I started thinking maybe burgers look different here, because it was cheaper than others. I didn't want anyone to get in trouble so I just decided to accept it. The lady who looked like the manager approached me and said that I should have told them because now somebody else is missing their food. I know it was also a mistake on my part, but she did not have to make me feel so bad about it. I didn't have the appetite to eat anymore, even though I was starving before all this happened (I did not even have breakfast). In the first place, they were also mistaken. I also deserved an apology but there was none said. Just because we are just students doesn't mean we deserve this kind of treatment. I am even willing to pay for my mistake if only I was told in a way that is not condescending. I cried on my way home. It was supposed to be a nice meal with my friend but everything was soiled by the end. The chips were okay, I guess, but to be honest I couldn't pay attention to the taste because I was so embarrassed and upset. I'm reading reviews here and it seems like getting orders wrong happens a lot. Maybe you need to do something about this, other than making the customers feel bad. I want to repeat, it's not the fact that I was told I made a mistake which upset me, but the tone in which this statement was made. Never coming here again.

shout out to one of the best workers i think his name is jude my food was delivered very quickly and efficiently. he deserves a payrise with that work mindset. big ups to him !

Terrible restaurant on campus! All they do is talk in the kitchen and take ages to prepare your food. The staff do not care about their customers, they just work there for the money. I dropped my milkshake in the waiting area because of their lazy, pathetic customer service. The manager should be ashamed of herself for hiring lazy people.

Ordered a vegan burger and they gave me a cheese burger 👎 and took so long to come and then replace

@the Rodeo Event 28.02.2024 it was told us students that we can get a burger for free till 17pm but after 15pm there wasn’t any left.

I still haven't got my order yet, pretty sure they've forgotton. I've been waiting for 40 minutes for a plate of microwaved pancakes and I'm 2 minutes away from asking for a refund. Wouldn't recommend to anyone ever. Edit: Finally came after 55 total minutes of waiting, stone cold. I wont be coming back.

Good service, horrendous food. Got a chicken burger that ended up being a cheap patty with some small lettuce leaves scattered on it. It was so bad me and another person at my table couldn’t eat it. Fries were unsalted for some reason too? They’ve got good prices but the quality is abhorrent.

Best restaurant i’ve ever been, always recommend it to my mates and they say it’s amazing! We call ourselves the ‘Mungos Mafia’. I will dedicate a song to this place

The shake was a rip off anyway. Who cares. No one goes to Mungo's to drink shakes. We go there to see the mysterious barman who hides behind the cloak of darkness. He moves swiftly from the kitchen to the bar area without making a sound. His presence cools the room. Thank you mysterious barman.

No more milkshake in the £5 deal on Tuesday??? Sick of it. After a long day of lectures, all I wanted was burger and milkshake and they took that away from me? It's not on, do better mungos. In this picture, you can clearly tell my kid is not happy he is addicted to the milkshakes and he could only get diet coke today!!!! Swapping milkshake to alocohol beverage? My kid isn't old enough to drink yet!

Bring back the £5 deals where you get the burger and the milkshake

£5 for a burger and a shake, fantastic little combo, but that's no more than just a distant memory of a happier time, a mere moment in history. They've taken this little beauty and and replaced the shake with a choice of soft drink. Shambolic. Nefarious. Cantankerous. I'm literally shaking right now and mungos is not. This used to be the highlight of my week and now my January's been ruined irrecoverably. Bring back the £5 burger & shake mungos, you're move.

If you've brought the flex catering scheme or have it because you live in Elliot college you are getting scammed. All the prices refuse to fit neatly into the £5 category. Also the food is not great, but edible.

Great uni hangout without the obvious uni vibe. Food (desserts in particular) were better a few years ago but still has the good service and atmosphere.

Very loud almost all of the time, so not a great place to have a meal with friends, but the food's nice, and if you happen to go when it is quiet, it's a good setting. They have two side areas that are bookable if you want to get some people together, and they're a lot quieter than the main area. Probably my go-to for a meal on campus now that Origins are trying to be fancier, and K-Bar just chuck a frozen pizza in the oven and charge you a fortune for it.
