Great coffee and exceptional cakes. Lovely friendly staff. Well worth another visit. The raspberry & lemon cake very nice as is the bakewell slice.

Nice service, had coffee and scone. the wooden bench seating is very uncomfortable (even with cushions).

Good place, good food and amazing service. Got the iced mocha with a shot of vanilla and the raspberry lemon cake. They both were average, compared to the price point. The cake had too much citrusy flavour and I couldn’t taste the chocolate in the iced mocha because the coffee flavour overpowers. Cafe looks great and was clean. They had many options for sandwiches and breakfast.

The brownie was very nice, and the coffee went down a treat. It was a very relaxed little place, and I will definitely be visiting again.

I’m disappointed to write this review because I’ve often enjoyed The Kitchen but this time the food fell short for us. We ordered cheese toasties which have been good in the past, but on this visit the Red Leicester had not melted and it was like chewing a sandwich with a block of cheese inside. While the quantity of cheese was very generous, it’s obviously not how you have a toastie. I therefore requested that the toasties could go in for a bit longer. The staff happily obliged to this, but when it was returned to us the toasties again still had solid cheese inside. On appearance it had barely sweated, let alone melted! Not excluding the price for the toastie, this alongside the cheap condiment sauces left us feeling deflated at what is typically a favourite cafe.

Lovely Victoria Sponge and Bakewell Slice with reasonable price.

Had been recommended by my daughter so went in with a colleague mid week for lunch. Had an average panini ( the kuban), very very small salad that was browning where cut. Nice coffee, nice polite service and was cold as door open all the time when I went. There are better places in the centre which would prevent me visiting again really. That’s probably me being snobby though.

Love this place! Visited for a brunch which they serve until 3pm (which is great!). My wife had Scrambled Eggs and I had Pancakes with Maple Syrup and Berries…both were nicely presented and plentiful and tasted lovely. Good Coffee as well which forced us to have seconds! Good value. Nice staff, very friendly. Decided we will need to go again as they also do a loyalty card for drinks.

Despite visiting late afternoon (in the last half hour of serving) all the staff were still really welcoming and cheerful. We had a tea, a chai, poppy seed cake and a scone with jam and butter. The scone was especially excellent!!!

Been a couple of times because it’s the only place I can find gluten and dairy free cake. Today i was given a vegan cake when I asked for the gluten and vegan. I did eat the cake but was unsure while eating it. Upon leaving I knew by looking at the cakes In the window I had been given the wrong cake. Brought this to the staffs attention Totally feel Let down by the staff …they did offer a refund but think that was not going to help my gut. The explanation was the labels look the same 🤦‍♀️ Will not be returning … understand mistakes are made … maybe the chap who served me did not hear what I asked for …. Not even a reply even after hearing the costa story …. It’s about listening and communication between staff

Very popular, small cafe. We were very lucky to get a table outside and had to queue for a bit, but it was worth the wait!! Cakes looked amazing too but we were very full after our full English. Highly recommend

Was walking through Nottingham and came across this fine little bakery, or I had the blueberry and almond cake, which was excellent. Nice little place to sit outside and very lovely staff who are very attentive to customers needs a must visit.

On Saturday I had the smallest slice of victoria sponge I have ever had. Very irritating considering that it's not cheap at all.

Always lovely food and good service but is a bit too 'cosy' - too many tables packed into a small space, in my opinion.

Waited 15 minutes for a pre-made sandwich, despite the cafe being empty. Workers seemed slow and unbothered. I got overcharged since the menu was outdated and the woman at till was apprehensive to offer a refund. Both the sandwiches and deserts were small portions for the price while being dry and lacking in flavour. Also wee on the toilet seat did them no favours! Was super disappointed as it looked so nice from the outside :/

Went in for some help, very kind, and helpful staff, bought a cake slice and double mocca based on my particular request, staff did exactly as asked, I'm super happy as drink and cake were perfect. Thank you both for your help. I recommend coming here.

What an amazing place. It's been a while since I was so happy eating and having a coffee like this. The food is tasty and comes fast. The coffee is good quality. The people working are friendly and helpful. Just amazing.

Great spot close to the centre. Small and welcoming. Freshly cooked English Breakfast sandwich was superb, full to overflowing. Coffee was great, rich taste. Young and lively, superb atmosphere. Chairs and benches are hard, a few more cushions would help. Put pictures on the walls instead of menu items to give a bit of interest.

Very welcoming small cafe which I prefer to the big multi-nationals. Breakfast sandwich was superb. Coffee hot and rich. Great service, great value for money. I would definitely return. Thank you. If they put paintings or drawings on the walls instead of menu items the ambience would be far far better.

This place is like more like my peace place, I would say. Always go with girls for brunch. Strawberry Milkshake and lemon & poppyseed cake is my favorite.

Came across this cafe as we explored the city, couldn't resist buying some of the cakes from the window to take away. We chose a millionaire shortbread and bakewell. Both were delicious. We'll try and make time to pop in on another occasion.

Went for brunch with our student son - really fresh food, maybe bread slices a bit too thick?!....but we all enjoyed our food and drinks.. Scrambled eggs especially good. Also a mango dream smoothie was excellent. Had a takeout choc slice for later, v nice but slightly air-dried from sitting in window uncovered? Prices reasonable, service excellent. Would return for sure.

We had breakfast with a coffee and a slice of cake. Both the Voctoria Sponge and the walnut and coffee one are very good. Voice service and friendly staff. Unfortunately the coffee is decent and the blend here in the UK is very strong for an espresso.

The food is good if you want to sit in a nice cafe and enjoy a hot drink in the city centre. The cakes are very tasty and have many options.

Coffee was ok, albeit not as hot as I’d have liked and it got cold very quickly. I had the vegan sausage sandwich on granary bread which just fell apart when trying to eat it. The bread wasn’t the freshest and the sausages were so pale they didn’t look cooked through. The food was not very hot either. Disappointing breakfast, won’t be returning.

Nice place, friendly smiley staff. Good selection of brunch, lunch and cake selections. Plenty of drinks to choose from too at good prices. Definitely worth a visit, lots of vegetarian/ vegan options too.

Lovely panini and good coffee. The milkshake (oreo) was great, but no vegan option available. The only let down was the oreo 'brownie' which was really dry. Otherwise a great little find in the heart of the city

The oat milk coffee was tepid and luke warm at best. My friends cup had a lipstick mark on and she doesn't even wear lipstick. I had carrot cake which tasted like it had just had a load of cinnamon poured in it and nothing else. For x 1 tepid coffee and one not very case cake it was really overpriced - nearly 8 quid!! Would not recommend.

I ask if they could do a galen free sandwich the person who service me said we are so buzzy we can not do a grelen free sandwich I feel they can not be bothered I'm not come here again I would not recommend.

It's an alright place, food is nice and affordable, good for a quick meal. Staff were lovely, and food came out quick. The downside is it's so dirty in the building, from the toilets to the cobwebs on the lights and stains all over the floor. It made it hard to eat being around so much dirt. Even the metal cups for water had rust around them, very off-putting. Hopefully, it can be cleaned a bit better.

Great place to grab a bite. Chan the manager gave impeccable service, I'd recommend to friends and family on the service alone but the food was also delicious. Definitely be back

Just been rudely turned away from here due to 'staff capacity' when we wanted a drink and a slice of cake!!!! The cakes are already made so really don't understand why they are turning customers away...and if you are, then at least put a sign outside to let people know!!!!! Definitely won't return!

I popped in for coffee and cake, thought service was great, was served by young lady called Chantelle, very polite. Coffee and cake was tasty as well.

Great little spot for coffee and cake, or a quiet lunch spot when you want to escape the business of town. I’ve been coming here to do uni work since I was in 1st year at university and have always felt extremely welcome by the staff (not always the case as a student trying to work). Baristas and servers always chatty and friendly and willing to help with anything. Busy little place on the weekends but staff clearly always dedicated to customer service and work really hard to make sure things run smoothly. Oh, and the food/ coffee is great too!

Me and my partner past this place on Saturday which had been mentioned to try from a friend, and immediately felt welcomed, it very busy but we were served by a lovely young team who served us a cuban sandwich which was quick service and very well presented coffee , loved the atmosphere and decor of the place, would definitely come back revisit, definitely one of the better cafes of Nottingham :)

It was nice that they had many vegan options but I was very disappointed in my ‘toastie’ since in my view a toastie is one of those gooey things in a toastie machine! It was quite dry and my mums coffee wasn’t great quality

Me and my boyfriend ordered an English breakfast and the breakfast bagel. I have to say it was absolutely amazing! Everything was perfectly seasoned - chef on point. The coffee was really good - we had iced latte and iced mocha. Really can't recommend enough. Staff were absolutely brilliant - very friendly. Such a cute vibe in there as well. Can't wait to go back to try the brownie.

Menu has changed, over priced and less variety. Staff came off cold, like they didnt want us there. When I asked for our table to be wiped down, the person sprayed directly on the table three times getting the cleaning fluid on me and my child. Then barely wiped the table and the liquid. They said its saturday we are busy. This is your staffing problem not mine, no need to be rude. I want to eat from a clean table. I ordered the salad, I couldn't eat it. Dry chopped cabbage, some green leaves and pasta with basic tomato sauce. I had a croissant to replace it. No apology or refund. Would not recommend, avoid. Not child friendly or even people friendly.

Ridiculously overpriced, vegetarian breakfast was absolutely tiny even for me and i have a small appetite. Everyone who went was still hungry afterwards.

Really disappointing having been here in the past. Breakfast was cold, drinks took a long time to arrive and there was only 3 tables in when we ordered. Very disappointing and won’t be going again.

Really cosy little place, staff saw to me quickly. I ordered the avocado toast after really craving it and I wasn’t disappointed. Guac, tomatoes salad and scrambled egg, topped with a drizzle of hot sauce. Just hit the spot. Iced coffee is good too, offering dairy alternatives (coconut, oat and soya). Price is good, I payed £12 for an iced coffee and avo toast. Really enjoyed a spot of brunch here, only downside is the size of the venue and the busyness. Would eat here again.

Nottingham was super busy ..this was a great place for people watching. Brownie wasn't up to my expectations (too dry) but the lemon and raspberry cake was really good.

Went in for a brunch. Coffee was excellent and all the bread and cakes are baked on the premises. Lovely friendly staff and an happy atmosphere. Will definitely be going again. Returned again today (14/06/23) and this time had the "Classic breakfast sandwich". Very well made with fresh bread, sausages, bacon and a fried egg with runny yolk. Yummy yummy.

Ate here yesterday 5th June. They had no chef only selling sandwiches and cakes. Thought we would try. Cheese toasties were nice, chicken wrap with salad and sweetcorn was ok but (No sweetcorn on the wrap at all. ) the other sandwich bread was very very dry and friend didn't realise gherkins were in short supply. All in all wouldn't go back again at those prices. Sandwiches were pre made???? We're not fusy people and have eaten here and at the one which was in trinity Square before it closed( this one was the best) but for what we paid and what we got no thank you. Those that served us didnt seem as though they wanted to be there.

Dreadful, Burger van style tea with a teabag swimming in the cup, even greasy spoon cafés know about teapots. Toasted cheese sandwich with Red Liecester rather than Gruire as described. Better of at a Motorway services.

I stopped by for brunch a few weeks ago around 11, the service was fast and competent, food was very good and the cappucino was perfect. It was my first visit in the Kitchen, but won't be my last. I had the English Breakfast which was filling enough to last me till well past lunch.

Okay place but there were few problems. Firstly it was so cold inside. They didn’t had salt and pepper shakers. And the salad options weren’t sufficient. But the staff was friendly and attentive.

The scones and clotted cream are divine. As an American visiting Nottingham, I highly recommend other tourist check this restaurant out. The staff were incredibly kind and the other foods I tried were also delicious. 10/10 would recommend.

A nice little place to pop into and grab a coffee and a slice of cake! Quick service from friendly staff, the cake was absolutely delicious and the coffee was high quality. The price was a little high (£15 for 2 coffees and 2 slices of cake) but not too expensive that I wouldn't go back.

It is my 'go to' cake and coffee place. Loooovvvveee their cakes so much. Already been there a number of times and it never fails to satisfy me. They have a lot of vegan options too. Coffee too is amazing ☺️. And friendly staff and good service. Usually crowded and really compact. Therefore not the best place to relax and have a meal. But overall it's a great place.

Great little Cafe/ Coffee Shop. Cheese Scones come lightly toasted! Just how I like them!! And a Millionairre Shortcake I took home was gorgeous. Can highly recommend.

Oh wow! I've visited and enjoyed their food a number of times before but today was amazing. The sweet Caroline focaccia was amazing, sweet potato and harrisa are (I've now discovered!) A fantastic combination. The raspberry and lemon cake is truly delicious! The service was great, even at a busy time. Treat yourself and visit soon!

The food has really gone down hill here. I recently got a take out of Victoria sponge and purposely chose this one as it hadn’t yet been cut so I knew it must be fresh.. however it was dry and tasteless. In the past I’ve had this issue with cakes that have been out for a while but I did not expect with this one. Maybe 4 years ago the cakes used to be so delicious! I’m not sure what’s changed.

Utterly terrible service from what was once an outstanding establishment. The pre made salad was not available for us - it was ready but reserved for tomorrow… when we got todays “slaw” it was dry salad. Having also ordered a panini - it didn’t arrive. When I followed after my partner had finished his they blamed the till for not printing receipts that contain the word “Brie”… she then took another 10 minutes before we asked where it was and there’d apparently had a grill problem. We asked for the money back. We got no apology at any point. The aircon unit was dirty, there’s cobwebs in the ceiling and the plants are dry and unwatered. It needs a full repaint and the hot water tap in the toilets a broken. Try Fox Cafe across the road.

The Kitchen on Pelham St - terrible service and mediocre food. Rude staff & dowdy decor. If I could give it no stars I would. My partner and I ordered a quiche coleslaw & salad and a Brie sandwich. When I ordered the salads I pointed to the one I wanted and was told I couldn’t have it as it had been prepared for tomorrow. Bad form. When my quiche came out, the coleslaw was dry and limp. My husband’s sandwich didn’t arrive and after we enquired, a fault with the till printing was blamed. A further 10 minutes and finishing my food and my partner’s still hadn’t arrived. I went to enquire again and was told they had had problems with the grill. There was no apology but I was offered some drinks as the sandwich had finally been cut up. I requested a refund as I had finished my food. I still had no apology. As we walked out there was no acknowledgment so I went back in to give feedback and was rebuked with a very surly comment of “have a nice rest of the afternoon.” Avoid at all costs. Gone significantly downhill since it was run by Homemade.

A small coffee shop/cafe, with indoor and outdoor seating areas, along with take away options, the young staff are always friendly and service is usually quick. They serve a smallish but decent quality food menu at a reasonable mid range price (the English breakfast & mixed mushrooms are recommended dishes), the only negative for me is that the quality of the coffee could/should be improved as the standard is way below what you can buy elsewhere.

Coffee was tasty. However when I went to order a sandwich I was told sandwiches weren't available due to the time (still had an hour left until sarnie cut off time) and due to the fact they had a busy day... I appreciate the stress as I manage in hospitality too. But in a then non busy cafe, to deny me food due to it being previously busy, when I can see what I'm trying to order sat on the shelves, is just bizzare. I then opted for a vegan sausage roll which I could've gotten far better and cheaper from Gregg's around the corner.

Lovely little place. It is very cramped and busy but perhaps that's part of its charm. Menu isn't extensive but food is delicious nonetheless!

As we entered the staff said that there was a little bit of a wait for food. We ordered another tea and coffee which was on the house as the wait was a little longer than anticipated, but when the food came it was worth waiting for. Full English breakfast with Spinach, doorstep toast. Very nice . Will definitely visit again.

The food was very good just what the wife and I wanted but the staff need to smile a little it goes a long way!!

I personally think it’s a bit too expensive and the portion sizes are a bit small for it. Ordered a full English and I couldn’t change up a few stuff only if I pay extra. Drinks such as apple juice is ridiculously over priced for a small plastic bottle. Bacon was over cooked for me and sausages were half a size of a normal sausages. Could just been a bad experience considering the atmosphere and cakes, bakery’s were outstanding.
