One of the best, ever-changing beer selections in Nottingham. A craft or real ale to suit every taste and short but decent list of wines. Great beer garden and regular music on Sunday evenings. Haven't tried the food yet, but it always looks and smells good. Recommended.

First time here. Great selection of Castle Rock and guest beers, both cask and craft. An amazing array of Whiskies adorns the back of the bar, so if whisky is your thing, this is the place for you. It seems quite small on first look as you walk in, as the bar is at the front of the building. There is more seating behind the bar and a decent size outdoor area too. Had three drinks at the bar and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed.

Awful service from the woman with dreadlocks behind the bar - Made us feel like it was a chore serving us (we only ordered 3 drinks) and was incredibly rude.

My friend (female) ordered a beer. I (male) ordered gin and lemonade as did someone else (male) in our party. Bar man gave an annoyed huff and said “TWO PINK GINS?! and said to his colleague “can you make two pink gins f**k sake”. Which the other male in our party said “Is that a problem?” In a confused tone. Barman laughed and said “no” laughingly and said it’s usually the girl who orders pink gin. Sexism in a pub should have been left in the 20th century. It made the whole party very uncomfortable as he seemed to have an issue doing his job serving a male a gin. Very strange behaviour. We asked his colleague (female) - “is there an issue with ordering a pink gin? Is it not normal to order a gin here? Is that a normal reaction to have?” The woman colleague again slightly laughed and said “that’s a normal reaction from him” and said ordering gin is fine. Seemingly pushing it under the rug which means it probably happens all the time making people feel uncomfortable. We then sat down to have our drinks and looked to play a game at the table which we heard the staff talk about us saying “they need to be quiet” and more which I won’t go into but it wasn’t pleasant to hear even though we were not even at the front of the pub, we were tucked round the back. We looked to give ordering one more try and asked if they do “baby Guinness” shots which they replied “this ain’t spoons!” And again laughed in our faces. Maybe you think you can speak to your regulars like this if you have a rapport with them but as a brand new (potential long time) customer this was absolutely disgraceful from every employee behind that bar that night. If you didn’t say something inappropriate, you laughed at the situation and by doing so CONDONED the other staffs actions. This place needs shutting down OR everyone given training on how to effectively work with customers face to face. Hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had in a pub and to think of this happening in 2024. Outrageous. On another note: they said they would stay open late if people respected the staff which was absolutely LAUGHABLE to us when they can’t even respect their customers. Also there was a load of junk shoved into the corners of the pub. (Picture shown) Will never return and will make sure the word gets round of this dive.

Dropped in for dinner with family and so glad we did. Plenty of different areas to sit besides the front bar area - we were out the back. We ordered beers and the Pork and Apple Cider Pie, pork was juicy and so tasty and came with a delicious suet pastry top, freshly steamed broccoli & carrots, a gorgeous rustic mashed potato and a jus that would have taken hours to make! All prepared by the lovely DEBBIE who said she was just a cook!!! One of the most authentic and memorable meals we had during our visit to the UK - wish we had more time to sample the entire menu on offer. The pub is very popular with the locals and we can see why. Great range of drinks including cask and craft beers and over 100 malt whiskeys. All the staff very friendly and thanks for a lovely night.

Decent outside smoking area with cubicles and seats you can sit out, out of the weather if bad and spend all night outside if the weather's good.
