The Kitchen Brasserie in Highland

The building from the outside was inviting and luring and that’s where we should have stopped. Food was extremely overpriced for the terrible quality of cooking in the Kitchen. What a waste of good quality ingredients, clearly the head chef is not well trained for the standard expected for the prices being charged. We didn’t order dessert, it was that bad. The toilets were grubby too. Rocpool nearby is cheaper which is saying something because it’s a gazillion times better and Michelin recommended.

The food was really lovely. Locally sourced and cooked with skill. Having said that, I prefer bigger portions. It would have been nice to have a slightly cheaper set menu for the vegetarian/vegan options as they will not be as expensive as the fish and meat options. The service was good The venue lacked atmosphere. This is mostly because it was quiet (we went on a Sunday) but also feel like the gents toilet didn't live up to the standard the restaurants was striving for. The glass front is nice with a good view of the castle but I'm sure there are better local restaurants serving food just as good with more atmosphere.

The food and service was amazing. The atmosphere was so relaxing and our window seats taking in the views was also amazing. I had the venison absolutely beautiful but the partner had braised beef cheeks ooofffft too die for .Will definitely be coming back.

The food was a mixture of sweet and sour dishes which I hate the appearance of the dish made the food look delicious the taste of the actual food was absolutely disgusting I wouldn’t ever go again.

Not my first visit to the Kitchen and the menu seemed more limited than I remembered in the past for the price charged, however the food was good and service quick and attentive.The one thing I have an issue with is not serving tap water, this is Scotland we have some of the best tap water in the world yet the the water served to the table is bottled, it just seems like another way of squeezing a few more pounds from diners that are already paying a high price for their food and drinks. Of course as soon as you sit down,before you even open the menu the serving staff ask you if you would like bread and water with no explanation of the charges,it just feels slightly underhand.

The taste of the food was, to say gently, not good. Almost every dish had a strange smell. I can’t even describe it. Reminded cleaning solutions. The taste wasn’t any better. We hardly ate half of anything. Personally, I can’t even remember a time when I encountered such strangely bad food.

Lovely staff, we came one night, they were fully booked and booked us a table for the next day which was very nice as I didn’t realise Inverness could get so busy in the weekend. The food was amazing from starter to dessert. We had the hot smoked salmon, so tasty, the wild halibut and the tart tatin. I highly recommend, quite good value for the quality of the food.

Fabulous place to eat. We went for an early evening meal before going onto theatre and even though early the place was filling up. Lovely views across the river, fantastic food, equally good service and definitely somewhere I want to return.

I’ve been to the Kitchen multiple times in the past and knew what to expect from previous experiences. I must say the service was lacking greatly when I went recently and it was unfortunately 1 individual who ruined the whole experience, the front of house Hostess. She came across cold, blunt and rude. Often on her phone and lacked overall professionalism. The other two waiters were lovely though. They were attentive and smiled throughout. The food was great. The started sublime and the main course was of the same standard but the portion did seem rather small. The dessert was a miss unfortunately.

What an incredible meal ! Being a Chef Restaurant owner it’s hard to please ! We’ve been in the UK now 20 days and have eaten at several places in London, Manchester, Bath , Liverpool and Edinburgh. This has been by far the best experience. The staff was amazing, The young man Dylan is incredible. Keep him around , he’s great with the guest and is knowledgeable with both the food menu and drink menu . Nicole and Meghan were fantastic as well ! Can’t wait to tell my staff back at home of the Great meal and service we had here in Inverness ! Thank you . Cheers !

Good scenery and food is good but it took too long to serve dishes and the fish is really salty. But this dessert is good. And price is relatively high.

Girls lunch out for Xmas, food was delicious, service fantastic and got to stay at table for good 2/3hours which we were grateful for.

Booked the kitchen on a recommendation. I wish we’d been told in December you only have the choice of their Christmas menu? My turkey was on a preformed roll with stuffing in the middle. The turkey was rock hard. It’s a beautiful setting and the restaurant is beautiful but I feel the food was very lack lustre for the price Morse so…

We had a great meal for 4 there on Thursday. Great service by the staff and felt very relaxed throughout. The food was outstanding! Would highly recommend!

Unfassbar gutes Essen hat uns hier im kleinen Städtchen Inverness begrüßt, zusammen mit liebenswerten Kellnerinnen und Kellern. Eine kleine Karte mit exzellenten Speisen: alles war toll. Der Fishcake superb, die Süßkartoffelsuppe samtig und die Hauptgänge (Lamm mit sensationeller Erbsen/Speck/Kartoffelbrei Beilage mit der geilsten Sauce überhaupt und Wild, ebenfalls sehr sehr gut) zum Tellerlecken lecker. Die Desserts waren fantastisch und sogar der Espresso so gut wie in Italien… Inverness hat ein Restaurant, dass es mit den tollsten Restaurants Düsseldorfs locker aufnehmen, wenn nicht sogar überholen kann. Unbedingt hingehen!!!

Excellent, refined cooking and gorgeous river views are how I would describe this restaurant. My husband and I were seated at the third floor overlooking the river; it’s a beautiful setting and perfect for a romantic date. Service is good as well, prompt and efficient but not intrusive. We ordered the slow cooked lamb shoulder and the roasted monkfish tail for our mains and the strawberry tart for our dessert. Every dish was excellently-prepared. Special compliments to the chef for the lamb - it was so tender and succulent. Possibly the one of the best renditions of lamb we have tasted in recent times.

Overpriced food and small portions. The venison was good, but the menu in general is rather limited. Service and atmosphere is excellent though, and the view of the river is beautiful.

Incredible food, and they were able to get us in before our reservation which was great. The venison loin I had was beyond tender, and the lamb rump my wife had surpassed her expectations. Great accompaniments, good drink selection. The broccoli with yogurt sauce was a great additional side. Bread and soup were both good. The dessert of Dark Matter spiced rum cake was beyond delicious. We will be back!

Comfortable and elegant place, the food was very good and so was the service, it is advisable to make an appointment to take advantage of the tables with a view of the river, the prices are not bad at all.

This has a high ranking amongst the worst places in Scotland. It was made aware to us very early in, that our age would be used against us. I am 22 and my brother 21 looking for a meal out while on holiday in Inverness. We were immediately greeted by an unkind and unconcerned host who explained very little of the menu and service to us although we watched a full comprehensive service be delivered to other tables. Although this is pathetic it is also too common amongst young people seeking to eat in established organizations. The food was below par from any perspective which made the meal extremely amusing for us as we were able to laugh at the discriminatory and ageist behavior while the food clearly needed a lot of improvement. This showed a focus on who they let into the restaurant instead of a focus on the food they serve within the restaurant which shows that the priorities are in the wrong direction. I am truly disgusted by the actions of the this restaurant. I have eaten all over the world in some of the finest restaurants and also work in a fine dining establishment which delivers pure disgust to this bigoted and pathetic establishment. To the host on the door. You should be truly ashamed and never work in the hospitality industry again.

We were lucky that people did not show up, we forgot to make a reservation. I ate pot roasted caufilower as starter and halibut thai style. Both delicious. My daughter had pork bully and gnochi and she was super happy. The chef suggested his desert specialty and this was the best👏🏽👏🏽 Highly recommend it

The venison dish at The Kitchens Brasserie is truly exceptional. From the first bite to the last, it's a culinary masterpiece that left me utterly impressed. The venison was cooked to perfection - tender, succulent, and bursting with rich flavor. The accompanying sauce(I believe plum) was a symphony of complementary tastes, elevating the dish to new heights. The presentation was exquisite, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. The Kitchens Brasserie has truly mastered the art of venison preparation, and I can confidently say it's the best venison dish I've ever had. A must-try for any food enthusiast! Great view of the river, friendly and caring staff made for wonderful dining experience.

Food was not great, was cold and didn’t have much taste to it. Young staff still needs to learn a bit of professionalism. Young waiter threw a dirty towel over us whilst we were eating…

Venison was great. View was cool. Our Manger was very nice and apologetic for customers who stayed over two hours delaying our meal.

Es la segunda vez que voy a este sitio en un lapso de 10 años y la comida sigue siendo tan espectacular. ue una experiencia buenísima y salimos todos encantados. El sitio tiene un diseño moderno, de cristales y una parte tiene vistas a la cocina y la otra al río de Inverness. Lo recomiendo para cualquiera que vaya a pasar unos días a Inverness. Es importante reservar y no es barato pero merece la pena.

Very hot if you sit in the two upper floors. No fresh air going through almost makes you claustrophobic on a warm summer night. Also the bartender on the 2nd floor was so noisy with making her drinks and shoveling ice… couldn’t hear each other over her. Food was good just that ambience took away from the lovely loch view.

Comida extraordinaria. Además tuvimos la suerte de que nos dieran mesa en la última planta. Las vistas muy buenas. Hubo un problema en la cocina con nuestra comida (no nos explicaron cuál) y tardaron mucho en servirnos (casi 1 hora). Se disculparon y nos invitaron sólo al único entrante que habíamos pedido para los 4.

My husband and I went here while on vacation and we had an all around great experience. We hate tourist traps that serve mediocre food and this was definitely not a tourist trap and the food was delicious. The service was also very good. We had the fish cake to start and the venison for our entrees and it was all amazing. We also enjoyed the quiet atmosphere on the upper level and the views. Definitely recommend booking here.

The main was the only good thing about our visit! The service was very poor and glacially slow. Disappointed overall and it felt like they'd forgotten about us at each and every step.

Overrated, we were finally disappointed. Dishes with great looks but not the taste. The cold atmosphere doesn’t help at all. Also: why do they serve frozen fries?

The Kitchen Brasserie is very clean and hygienic. Modern decor.The staff welcoming, friendly and attentive. They gave us our request for a window seat . The starters were excellent in presentation and taste. We did however have to wait a long time for our mains . When the mains did come we were disappointed by the lack of presentation . The salmon linguine was overly lemony and the pollack gojons were over cooked and very salty.Its also a pity that real fries weren't made . I have been before and everything was wonderful and so I decided that I would treat my future daughter in law to a lovely meal ,but sadly we were let down.

Lovely views of the river and castle if you are on the second floor or above and near the window. The food was good, the service very good, but someone needs to tell the bartender on the second floor that she is disturbing the diners with her loud bar maintenance, throwing around glassware, banging and booming. So unpleasant!

The brasserie overlooks the river running through the centre of inverness. The meals are of the highest standard along with very friendly also you can view the kitchen preparing tge meals

Wir waren ohne Reservierung dort und froh, einen Tisch zu ergattern. Die Bediehnung wirkte gelangweilt das Essen war, für den Preis, bescheiden.....

The food was reasonable, trying to be high-end (prices reflected this) but each dish was sloppy and immature in presentation. No spoon offered with the halibut in broth. Front of house staff appeared to be very young, no skills in communication and the acoustics in the restaurant are awful. The tin lid, pardon the pun was the young bar person throwing glasses around with no idea how noisy she was being. It was impossible to hear my friends speaking. This place has potential but it needs a lot of work.

Lovely restaurant in Inverness, where we booked for an early dinner before our flight out. Great value and tasty food.

We had just pulled into town and checked in where we were staying. We did not have reservations and the manager said he could get us in in about 30 minutes. Was definitely worth the wait. The dishes we had were all great. I chose the venison and it was cooked perfectly. The deserts were also great, you cannot not go wrong eating here definitely recommend it!

Long story short, you'll walk away hungry and dissatisfied with the service. Read on if you care to see how poor our experience was. Multiple locals recommended this place, so we made a reservation for 3 adults and 1 child for 18:30 on Wednesday. We were greeted and sat early at 18:25, and ordered our drinks. We placed our order for our food (including starters) at around 18:40. Thankfully, we requested that our daughter's food be brought with the starters because the main entrees took at least 45 minutes to arrive after the starters. Our adult beverages were empty far before the meal arrived. We were were never offered anything else the rest of the time we were there. I'm glad we ordered water, because if not, we would have had nothing to go with our meal. The food was the only good thing, but was also a terribly small portion size for the price you pay. It was definitely NOT worth the price or the wait. After our meal was done, we were finally approached by the waiter/host and requested the bill. We had planned to have multiple drinks and dessert, but never had the opportunity to order anything additional. We ordered at 18:40 and were asked if we wanted anything else at 19:45, over an hour later. Our main entrees arrived at the table at 19:25, 20 minutes before we left. At this point, we were basically out of water and were sharing water glasses between one another. When the waiter brought the bill, he could clearly tell that we were upset and we let him know how dissatisfied we were with the service. We didn't complain about the food nor did we complain about how long it took to receive it. His response felt dismissive and disingenuous. "All I can say is I'm sorry and I clearly have things to work on." He then took the payment and immediately walked away to seat another table. He didn't offer for us to speak with the manager. During our tenure at the table we saw 2 tables get up and leave because they were never waited on. We received far superior service at local pubs, at less than half the cost and twice the portion sizes. No lie, we went to Tesco afterwards because we were still hungry. Save yourself the time and money and go anywhere else. It's a shame.

The best dinner we had in the area! Beautiful view of the river from upstairs. There was such a perfect balance of flavours; we had the smoked salmon starter, venison and hake. We would highly recommend going to this restaurant over any others in town (in fact we found it far better than the top-rated restaurant in town) and worth the money you pay.

The definition of a hidden gem. I’ve not seen this mentioned in any articles about food in Inverness and yet the meal we had was of a quality I would’ve expected to pay twice as much for. Beyond the creativity of the menu and the quality of presentation, I have to mention that I was in awe of the sear on my chicken. Cooked to perfection.

Had a wonderful time, and the food was lovely. The only thing was, and it might be down to personal preference, but the cake was dry.

My husband and I were touring the area and decided to have our evening meal at the kitchen Brasserie. My husband had venison and I had duck, both were delicious. The young lady who served us was polite and helpful. We would definitely recommend The Kitchen Brasserie for a lovely relaxed evening meal.

Great place for supper before heading off for a show. Service was fast and food was good.

I was there on Friday with friends. Nothing spectacular, honestly I don't know why have so good reviews. We ask for table with window view, we didn't received that. I order duck, was chewy not able to cut. For desert I get chocolate fondant which was okey. Drinks was fine but for that prices I would expect something much more better, portions was very small. Will not back for sure, waste of money. Not worth even for that view.

My husband and I are repeat customers here, the Kitchen is definitely our favourite restaurant in Inverness. There's always a great choice and the menu changes regularly even for the cocktails! The staff are always professional, friendly and very accommodating, if you've never been then definitely go try it out!

Excellent food and service. We were a party of eight. Not one complaint. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated like v.i.p"s. Customer service and food quality absolutely fabulous.

This used to be my favourite restaurant in Inverness but sadly not now. On my last visit I ordered the loin of venison .3 small slivers of chewy meat for £26 was so disappointing. My wife's salmon was lovely but the gnocchi was just a mess. £108 for two mains, a shared chessboard and a bottle of Supermarket wine is not value for money
