when for our last diner in Inverness with my boyfriend. the food was amazing and the service great. highly recommended for a romantic dîner.

I strongly suggest that anyone with any intolerances does NOT go here. I visited the restaurant today and asked for multiple dishes that suited my intolerances and was dictated what dishes I could have, (there wasn’t very many). Even when I asked for modifications to the dishes, the staff informed me this was not possible and I wasn’t allowed the dish I had selected because a simple change in a dish, for example leaving out buttery mash was not possible. A simple request, a simple solution was clearly too much to ask from this place. These requests are not outrageous and are in fact quite easy. I would have thought an established restaurant like this would be able to achieve better in the most simplest of areas, but my experience today would not agree with that statement. I hope for other customers sake they rectify this.

We are from Belgium and we are on holiday in Inverness for a week. We have had a few good experiences in other restaurants. But this place is absolutely amazing! The food is excellent. The atmosphere and the river view are amazing. And the staff are super friendly and make sure that you get the best experience. This place is definitely a must-visit. It's a shame our holiday is almost over. We would have visited a second time.

Atmosphere is very good but food is very bland and over pricy for 3 course dinner me and my bf paid £96.…. Insane

It's 10 years since I last dined here. It was good back then, but it's excellent now. Dinner menu was a choice between £40 for 2 courses or £45 for 3. All 3 courses I chose were beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. It won't be another 10 years before I return.

Set menu with choice of 4 starters, mains and desserts. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service excellent. We sat on level 2 by the window so had a great table.

The food was delicious and we were spoilt for choice. We went here while on holiday in Scotland and this was absolutely the best meal. I had the slow-cooked lamb and my family had the gnocci, which was so good they asked for the recipe. The staff were supremely helpful and lovely, going to far as to post my coat back to London when I left it by mistake!

Exceptional food. Great service. One of those pleasant surprises. We just walked in while visiting from Australia and were blown away. Both the flavours and presentation of the food was excellent. The attention to detail made us feel each dish was prepared by someone who cares. My highlight was the pork belly with Caesar salad. The hero was the interpretation of Caesar salad. My mail was venison m. Perfectly cooked. We were only doing the two course menu but after the first two courses were so good we went for dessert. We are both glad we did great desserts. Loved it.

What a wonderful dining experience. We were very lucky and had a table by the glass wall on the 3rd level, looking out on the river. The food was delicious and inventive and beautifully presented. The service was great, and our server, I think her name was Lucy, was so friendly and attentive. What a terrific evening!

Excellent here. We were booked at another restaurant who closed early unexpectedly but never got in touch which was disappointing as we were booked late and actually hanging around for a while. Realised we had very little time to find somewhere to eat as all restaurants would be closing soon so a quick online look for somewhere close and i called here and was told it was no problem to come in as long as we could get there in next 15minutes or so and we were fairly close do there in 5. Being in so late was no problem for them and never felt rushed to order of anything! Service was excellent, staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was great, really amazing. My only wish was i didn’t eat so fast as i was quite hungry this evening so i didn’t take my time to savour the great food unfortunately as it was sooo tasty. Also its very well priced. I definitely will go back here and recommend it to everyone.

From friendly yet professional booking from Sean, to servers Lucy and Ross - the “people” element of this restaurant is just right ! Happy to recommend and make adjustments for us vegetarians / pescatarians ! Food was a delight ! Hot smoked salmon was juicy and tasted wonderful as did the Peterhead landed cod, whipped goats cheese with beetroot was fresh and flavoursome ! Kitsch soaked dark chocolate brownie was delicious ! Views from the second floor glass fronted part of the building overlooks the River Ness - a delight both day and night ! Highly reccomend !

We dined here on Thursday night. The restaurant is beautiful with stunning views. The staff were friendly and attentive making sure everyone felt "special". The food was fantastic. First class restaurant well worth a visit.

Used to eat here quite often when we lived in Inverness so it was nice to return. A lovely restaurant with very fresh local ingredients, have never had a bad meal here. Prices can be quite expensive for Inverness, but often they have meal deals on. Service is friendly and relaxed but not particularly fast, great for a nice relaxed family meal but I wouldn't book here if you're in a hurry

We did not have a reservation but luckily they had availability for two people. We had one starter two mains and a dessert and all of them were GREAT! Atmosphere and portion sizes were good as well. Meghan and Damon who served us were very kind and helpful. Thank you. I totally recommend.

Over priced - vegetarian food was below average, bread was stale, soup tasted like it was out of a tin - the worst coffee I have ever had - the view of the bird crap on the outside tables and balcony was absolutely disgusting.

Loved it. Food and service were 1st class.

The beef cheek and the Cod were cooked perfectly, but the accompanying veg and sides were bland and didn't work with the dish. Shame as it was our anniversary and wanted something a bit tastier than highstreet food. On that note our lunch at McBains across the river was a 5 star!.

Really enjoyed our meal of pork belly and ham hock appetizers and we both had the Hake for a main. Dessert was delicious (I could have licked the plate) and there was something special about the coffee.

Good but a little expensive for what is offered. Small portions. Little extra for the waiter who was funny and friendly.

We dined twice at the Kitchen Restaurant while in Inverness, once for dinner and then we returned for lunch a few days later. The service was exceptional (they even remembered us on our 2nd visit). We did not have reservations, so we only got first floor tables but even without the view (which other reviews talk about) the experience was well worth it. We had Hake and Cod as our mains and really loved the Rum sponge with pineapple, pistachios and mango sorbet for desert.

It's difficult to find a table for 1 person in a restaurant on a Friday evening in Inverness without having booked in advance. The Kitchen restaurant offered me a table at 9 p.m. and I don't regret having accepted. The salmon as a starter and the venison as a main course were incredible and perfectly cooked. The dessert was very good, especially the elderberry ice cream which was excellent but the cheesecake was less perfect.

My husband and I ordered: the smoked salmon and the goat cheese for starters (both delicious) and The beef cheeks and the cod fish as main courses. The beef cheek was amazing, but the cod fish not so good. The service was very good and the song playlist was fantastic!

Unprofessional staff. Price too high for the quality of the food. Big difficulties in making changes to the menu in case of intolerances/allergies.

I was at the restaurant with 15 minutes delay and they did not accept me even if there were tables available. That is a shame. They were also rude

Food very good, little, expensive. Service nice, unreliable, overloaded. People pay attention to allergies, but if they then forget about it - not so good. So be careful! Ambience: nice, with the river a clear plus. Women's toilet - disaster.

Very nice staff, that is the main positive. With the very nice view. But more than 45 minutes wait between our order and our mains (we did not order starters, only main + deserts) Not sure why, but this was really long wait, for good but nothing amazing plates. Deserts were disappointing too.

We arrived to the restaurant at around 19:50, and they gave us a table to 21:00. The lady said that we HAVE to arrive earlier, because the kitchen will close at 21:00, and we have to order our dinner. We have arrived back to 20:30, just to be sure. One other waitress told us we have to wait until 21:00 to our table. After that we stand next to the window, and we saw that the have at least 3-4 empty tables. We had a staring contest with each other for 25 minutes, we were watching the free tables, and the waitresses were watching us. We are glad that we didn’t spend at least 200 GBP.

The best food in Scotland, we were there for 7 days through Skye, Loch Ness, Inverness, Edinburg, Stirling, Glasgow... and this is where we ate best. The spectacular sweet potato cream, some cheeks with delicious sauce and one of the best apple tatin I've tried in my life. TOP friendliness of all the waitresses, place with good views and correct price. The best restaurant in Scotland!

Really wonderful experience! Excellent view from the third floor. Service was superb. Food was great. I appreciated the kids menu which had grilled fish and chicken- non-fried options for a change. Cocktails were really good. Fresh and creative. Good value for the quality of food. Definitely would come back. Suggest a wine paring but realize that would bang up the price.

We had dinner at the Kitchen restaurant during our stay in Edinburgh. The meal was very good, the dishes were sophisticated and of very good quality. The staff was present and attentive. Everything was perfect. Having dined on the 2nd floor, the view of the castle was very beautiful! Well done !

The food is good but not exceptional. We tried the highlands venison but it paled in comparison to others that we’ve had. It’s quite average and didn’t seem consistent in the texture. Although it’s not a place specifically for drinking, I was expecting a somewhat more knowledge of the menu from the servers, but it’s a bit lukewarm in this matter. The servers are nice and friendly, just wished they knew a bit more about the drinks that we’re asking them about.

Very expensive restaurant (100£ in two!), the food has good flavour but one feels full only because of sides, not for the principal ingredient of each recipe. I had the venison, they gave me two micro slices; I ate more sauce and potatoes than the actual thing! The dessert (brownie) was nice, but I ate it better heated in a microwave in a lost bakery in the Highlands… this one was too sweet and hard inside.

Portion size was very very small and the set price was £40 for 2 courses, when I asked was there any more vegetables on there way out I was told no that's it. I left feeling a bit ripped of and that I would call at the chip shop on the way home. The staff did not seem warm and welcoming at all. I wouldnt go back

Terrible attitude towards the customer! Called today to make a lunch booking for 9 people, the guy said he couldn't take a booking for 9 people, max 6, So I asked can you a table for 5 and 4. He said no! So I then asked how many covers they had for lunches, he said 20. I was appalled at how unwelcoming they were because they didn't want 9 people coming at once. Avoid if I were you.

While I can understand a policy that charges people for no shows, we went to our scheduled reservation and told them I was not well and couldn’t eat- they did not care and charged us anyway. No care for others health and well being.

Arrived at 5 45, staff not particularly friendly was my first impression. Needed to use bathrooms, they seemed dirty, infact toliet didn't flush, no soap in dispensers, bin full. Remember, they only opened at 5, so clearly, not cleaned from the night before! Told a member of staff who didn't apologize and said, "Oh yes we know!" Told her to put notice up then!! Came to take order for food, no one took a order for drinks, had to ask. Food came, Which was really tasty. Cant complain about the food. ( limited menu though! ) Watched folk come and go and most times the front of house staff did not break a smile! When a couple left and said "thank you goodbye", her head never moved from her computer! Very bad manners! Would I recommend? No, unless they cleaned the place up and paid better attention to the customers.

Never have I experienced the rude and unfriendly greeting by the so called female manager of this restaurant - Every table was empty and I was told they were fully booked - asked why and was given a rude cold reply She told me she was the manager but refused to give me her name Disgraceful - wouldn’t eat there even if they paid me If you are the owner reading this experience I suggest you change your manager

We had lunch and sat upstairs by the window. Megan served us and she was polite, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. The goats cheese salad as a starter, was delicious. Followed by the smoked salmon and the beef cheeks for mains. We couldn’t fault a thing. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

After a few days of a lot of fried Scottish food, we really enjoyed the fresh and tasty menu at the Kitchen. Staff was kind and the food was just amazing! We had goat’s cheese as a starter and I had the Venison as the main. Definitely recommend it here! Just make sure you place a reservation first!

What a bad restaurant! The food was very expensive and you also have to order at least 2 dishes per person, which is £120 for three people and not counting drinks. The food wasn't bad but it's modern and they put in a lot of accompaniments when you just want the main item. Lastly, the service was very slow and we had to wait a whole hour for our dishes to be brought to us. At least the tip was optional.

Omg where has the old kitchen gone? Haven’t been for a while and decided to visit for a 5pm Saturday early meal with friends. No early evening special menu available as was always the case in the past and no other choice of menu apart from a set 2 or 3 course menu with limited choice and only 1 vegetarian option. £40 for 2 courses is extremely expensive. Extra charge for bread and water and no vegetables provided with the meal. Small portions and I came out hungry. Cheapest bottle of wine £23. Now feels a rip off for an average meal in a city where there are so many other more restaurants that offer better food and value for money. Obviously now aiming at the tourist trade rather than locals. What a shame, this used to be one of my favourite restaurants in Inverness.

The food was very good. the staff is partly friendly but the blonde manager was very unfriendly. she stood at a distance from the table shouting at your back to make sure everything was okay, and while we were still drinking our wine she threw our bill on the table. the girl serving with dark hair did a much better job and was genuinely friendly.

Severely unpleasant relationship with the manager. Don't understand why this kind of people make a work with public relationship, should be better stay closed in the backyard...Food was nice and our waiter too.

Food of average quality with a price that does not correspond at all. The place is not worth it. The really nasty blonde hostess. If I give two stars instead of one it is because of the brunette waitress who served us during dinner, really charming and professional, frankly she deserves to work in a place that is at her level, but unfortunately it is not this one.

Very unfriendly and arrogant Service. Cheap food for high prices.

Food was mediocre at best. Made reservation and were seated right by the door. Ventilation fans weren't working in kitchen which they shouldn't have been allowed to be open. Instead open the doors right beside us to let some air in. Asked for doors to be shut since it was getting cold and were bluntly told they had to be kept open.

No good value for money. Food was ok at best and we payed over 50£ per person. I won‘t go there a second time.

Good food quality in a tourist city (and this is what matters most!), service and atmosphere are fine as well. Recommended.

One of the more up market restaurants in Inverness with prices reflecting this. However, food was lovely and the location is excellent. Relatively minor negatives are... Being asked if you want water for the table and then being given bottled water which is charged. Normal practice when asked that question is a bottle of tap water and no need to check with the staff what exactly is being offered. We returned the bottled water with no fuss, but shouldn't have come to that. Second negative is a lack of vegetables. I get the art on the plate idea and not feeding too much to encourage selling more courses but minimal veg included on the plate and separate veg sides weren't available to order.

Mediocre food. Pork belly was very bland, cod was salty. Service was decent but the overall experience was not good enough to justify the very high price.

I had a beautifully presented goats cheese mousse and beetroot starter followed by venison, potatoes and Jerusalem artichokes perfectly cooked and presented. A good bottle of red wine, shared with friends. The best meal I ate in Scotland and I was staying at a 4 star hotel in Inverness!!

Great food and excellent service we loved our dinner!

We had our anniversary dinner here. It was a quiet night, and the service and food were lovely. We had the Beef Wellington for two with Chianti and sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

Food was good and the service was okay. Location is beautiful. For us the quality of the food and service could not live up to the prices unfortunately.

Quite expensive for the food and overall experience

Had an amazing evening, Mhairi was fantastic throughout the whole night and looked after us the entire time. Food was delicious and the view from the third floor was perfect.

The building from the outside was inviting and luring and that’s where we should have stopped. Food was extremely overpriced for the terrible quality of cooking in the Kitchen. What a waste of good quality ingredients, clearly the head chef is not well trained for the standard expected for the prices being charged. We didn’t order dessert, it was that bad. The toilets were grubby too. Rocpool nearby is cheaper which is saying something because it’s a gazillion times better and Michelin recommended.

The food was really lovely. Locally sourced and cooked with skill. Having said that, I prefer bigger portions. It would have been nice to have a slightly cheaper set menu for the vegetarian/vegan options as they will not be as expensive as the fish and meat options. The service was good The venue lacked atmosphere. This is mostly because it was quiet (we went on a Sunday) but also feel like the gents toilet didn't live up to the standard the restaurants was striving for. The glass front is nice with a good view of the castle but I'm sure there are better local restaurants serving food just as good with more atmosphere.

The food and service was amazing. The atmosphere was so relaxing and our window seats taking in the views was also amazing. I had the venison absolutely beautiful but the partner had braised beef cheeks ooofffft too die for .Will definitely be coming back.

The food was a mixture of sweet and sour dishes which I hate the appearance of the dish made the food look delicious the taste of the actual food was absolutely disgusting I wouldn’t ever go again.

Not my first visit to the Kitchen and the menu seemed more limited than I remembered in the past for the price charged, however the food was good and service quick and attentive.The one thing I have an issue with is not serving tap water, this is Scotland we have some of the best tap water in the world yet the the water served to the table is bottled, it just seems like another way of squeezing a few more pounds from diners that are already paying a high price for their food and drinks. Of course as soon as you sit down,before you even open the menu the serving staff ask you if you would like bread and water with no explanation of the charges,it just feels slightly underhand.

The taste of the food was, to say gently, not good. Almost every dish had a strange smell. I can’t even describe it. Reminded cleaning solutions. The taste wasn’t any better. We hardly ate half of anything. Personally, I can’t even remember a time when I encountered such strangely bad food.

Lovely staff, we came one night, they were fully booked and booked us a table for the next day which was very nice as I didn’t realise Inverness could get so busy in the weekend. The food was amazing from starter to dessert. We had the hot smoked salmon, so tasty, the wild halibut and the tart tatin. I highly recommend, quite good value for the quality of the food.

Fabulous place to eat. We went for an early evening meal before going onto theatre and even though early the place was filling up. Lovely views across the river, fantastic food, equally good service and definitely somewhere I want to return.

I’ve been to the Kitchen multiple times in the past and knew what to expect from previous experiences. I must say the service was lacking greatly when I went recently and it was unfortunately 1 individual who ruined the whole experience, the front of house Hostess. She came across cold, blunt and rude. Often on her phone and lacked overall professionalism. The other two waiters were lovely though. They were attentive and smiled throughout. The food was great. The started sublime and the main course was of the same standard but the portion did seem rather small. The dessert was a miss unfortunately.

What an incredible meal ! Being a Chef Restaurant owner it’s hard to please ! We’ve been in the UK now 20 days and have eaten at several places in London, Manchester, Bath , Liverpool and Edinburgh. This has been by far the best experience. The staff was amazing, The young man Dylan is incredible. Keep him around , he’s great with the guest and is knowledgeable with both the food menu and drink menu . Nicole and Meghan were fantastic as well ! Can’t wait to tell my staff back at home of the Great meal and service we had here in Inverness ! Thank you . Cheers !

Good scenery and food is good but it took too long to serve dishes and the fish is really salty. But this dessert is good. And price is relatively high.

Girls lunch out for Xmas, food was delicious, service fantastic and got to stay at table for good 2/3hours which we were grateful for.

Booked the kitchen on a recommendation. I wish we’d been told in December you only have the choice of their Christmas menu? My turkey was on a preformed roll with stuffing in the middle. The turkey was rock hard. It’s a beautiful setting and the restaurant is beautiful but I feel the food was very lack lustre for the price Morse so…
