Telford's Cafe at Pulteney Centre in Highland

Seems it's changed a bit since the last reviews, it's now some sort of donation-driven self-serve canteen. There were cakes, teas, coffees, and that sort of thing. As far as I could see it was just take what you want and pay what you can. A lot of locals and regulars there happy to chat, an interesting and friendly bunch for sure. Can recommend stopping by if you're in the area!! Be warned: no fish and chips here which is what got me there in the first place! But plenty of other joints for that in the vicinity, no harm done

Not impressed at all the sandwiches we had were stale and not very tasty at all. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

I visited Pulteney People's project 3 times. If you have a disability and have a furry friend, the manager Katrina McNab will kick you out. I went yesterday to a Hobbies group. Katrina McNab ordered me out and said not to come again. She does this to anyone she does not like the look of. The manager should not be working with the public. The food is detestable. It should be fed to pigs.This place should be closed and the building used for a shopping Centre. I would not recommend Telfords to anyone. The Bridge Street Cafe is better.

Ne nous cachons pas. Nous devons manger pour vivre. Si vous avez faim et/ou que vous sortez de la distillerie, c’est le premier café. Ne cherchez pas la finesse ou ne pensez pas que vous allez bien manger. C’est chaud, pas mauvais, mais pas extraordinaire du tout. Ce n’est pas cher et vous n’aurez pas de sourire. Si vous souhaitez de l’eau, cela sera de l’eau du robinet.

Nice tea and coffee and good handmade craft goods to buy. Facilities above average. A nice addition to the Pulteney Distillery visit.

Went a few times while visiting Wick. Not impressed, sorry. The food was bland, ordinary and it took a long time to reach the table. On the day we were there only white bread. No wholewheat. The vegetarian option, Chili, was not available. Same old same old. Staff were ok. Distillery visit was nice.

Cafe within local community complex. Good menu and well priced. Very friendly staff. Only small gripe was that we ordered coffees and cakes after our panini and after 15 minutes of waiting we had to cancel as would not have had time to enjoy as we had prebooked a distillery tour. This was swiftly apologised for and a full refund given for these items. Would we return - yes.

Great wee community cafe food was excellent portion more than adequate homemade soup well made sandwiches

Popped in to get some brunch. Telfords breakfast was worth the money. Very filling. Bacon and pancakes was delicious and filling. We also like that they have a coffee machine so the coffee is wonderful. Place is clean and the staff are lovely. Well worth a visit.

I visited the cafe for lunch after poping into The Old Pultney visitor centre. On first impressions the cafe looked very nice so we went in and asked a waitress for a menu, there wern't many people sat in; maybe two groups of four at the most. After browsing we decided to get something to go so we could get back on the road. When ordereing the waitress then told us it would be about 15-20 minutes wait (I ordered a panini), shocked at this the waiterss said to us it might not be that long for this order as its quite simple, so she went off to the chef to check. On her return she told us that it would actuallly be 25-30 minutes wait. i couldnt believe it. We left hungry and dissapointed.

Great portions sizes 10 year old really enjoyed fish chips and spaghetti hoops clear plate. Soft ice cream was delicious. Staff friendly and helpful. Can be a bit of a wait if party on as food freshly prepared.

A good stopping choice. Enough choice, friendly service, clean bright surroundings and not expensive either. We will return

Looked forward to lunch, but disappointed. Cheese and onion sandwich and soup with a latte. Hardly any filling in the sandwich? Bread sliced, crusty bread would be much better.

We were visiting from Canada and while my son in law and I toured the distillery (awesome tour conducted by Tanya), my wife and daughter took the two grandson to the activity Center where they had a great time. When we arrived from the distillery tour I ordered the Mac and Cheese for lunch. Mmmmm excellent!! Without doubt it was the best I've ever tasted. So good, in fact, that when I arrived back in Canada, I attempted to have the chef provide the recipe so that I might enjoy it here back home. I have yet to hear from him/her, perhaps a reluctance to reveal trade secrets, but I really would only make it for myself. In any event, great atmosphere and great food and very family friendly.

Popped in here for a quick bite to eat after getting of the ferry. The soup is very good and a nice cup of tea all round was just what we needed.

Had lovely soup and a sandwich here on Friday. The soup was very tasty and warming. The sandwich wad made with lovely bread and had a generous filling. Will definitely be back

Had a lovely meal out at Telford's Cafe, great food, great friendly staff, had a lovely chat with the owner who seemed a really nice genuine guy, I'd really recommend this place to anyone with a working tastebud!

Found this gem, called in for a snack and cuppa and we found this place offered such a friendly welcoming and will definitely be calling again !!

Went with the family for Nanna's 90th after reading great reviews about pensioners meals and were not disappointed. Great food, great service, and even when Nanna had her little accident, staff straight to help mopping up her mess. Will definitely be back. Thankyou.

Try here for cheap eats and a Thursday lunchtime pensioner's special for a fiver. Telford's is situated in a community centre next to the Wick Pultneytown whisky distillery.

Not only is the cafe superb with very friendly helpful staff and delicious food at very low prices but the whole centre offers so much to everyone. The children's activities are well thought out and if you have something (just a coffee even!) in the cafe is free.So many activities for all age groups and very low prices a must for everyone.

We had just left the distillery, and were looking for aplcee to have a culpa, and just below was this community run café.It was clean and run by a cheerful Crewe.Prices were good and so was the food.

Very pleased with the prices, the food, the layout, BUT Please Please move that dreadful machine away from the public area, not only scary for children (I saw a number of startled youngsters) but is so loud when it 'goes off' every few minutes that we had to stop our conversation. And we were many tables away. This was the ONLY thing that let the place down. We would love to revisit but NOT whilst that machine makes that dreadful racket!

Dropped in while in Wick on business. Service first class from friendly lassies. Food also first class. Recommended!!

Being up in Caithness, my wife and I thought we would give the Café, which is part of a Community Centre, a visit. Food: excellent; Staff: very friendly and helpful; Café area: spotlessly clean and modern; Prices: good. All in all - thoroughly recommended.

Haveing gone to this cafe a few times because it is ment to be child friendly I have been disappointed every time i have gone there is one particular member of staff that almost makes you feel unwelcome with your childern put apart from that it is nice.

Went to Telfords cafe for lunch when we had friends visiting, our children made use of the play area while the adults had lunch. The staff were friendly, food delicious and reasonably priced and the cafe is modern and clean. Have returned several times and cannot fault it, also lovely coffee and tasty homebaking at a reasonable price
