Deli In The Square in Highland

Daylight robbery. Ordered from the takeaway menu but decided to sit outside to eat. The price doubled and they failed to mention the massive jump in price when ordering when we clearly hadn’t seen a dine in menu. Two toasties and cans of drink for over £30. Absolute rip off!

Super friendly, accommodating, and patient if, like me, you don't speak English very well. We were there in the evening and this afternoon. Two menus. Top quality and generous portions. An apple spritzer with real juice. Highly recommended. We'll be here for a few more days and will definitely be back a few more times. 👍👍

Nice atmosphere, great service, and good food. Shame they didn’t have the Cullen skink, but we enjoyed our pizzas. Very tasty toppings. I do recommend this place! What ruined it a bit is the “discretional service charge”. It’s not discretional. It’s automatically added on the bill. I know places doing this argue that guests can ask it to be removed, but they know perfectly well that nobody would ask, because it feels very uncomfortable! It would only be discretional if it was a choice at payment, loads of card machines now have the option whether to include a service charge and at what percentage. It would even be better if it was just included in the food price (but then I always think that it already is included, as it’s more expensive than making the food at home, which is perfectly fine, so I don’t understand the extra charge). We would have left a tip, because we liked the services and the food, but it should have been completely voluntary!

Toasty was on shop bought bread , salad was fresh and homemade coleslaw was very nice . No chips , no crisps , on the side . Portion didnt even fill the plate , very over priced for what u got . Asked for diet coke and defo got full coke . Sitting area cold didn't even take of my coat . Pleasant staff but not really attentive

I like this place a lot - combined shop, cafe, bar and restaurant in a continental style. Very comfy inside; great outside seating. Cromartie beer on tap!

Perfect in all respects. Such a lovely place with the nicest people. And great food. You just can’t go wrong. Trio of salmon is the go for.

This place was the perfect find after we went for walk exploring the area. Wonderful food especially hot chocolate with marshmallows. Great atmosphere n awesome staff. We loved it and said on our next trip to Scotland this would be a must stop again. We'll done.

Found it by accident. Just passing by in the car and it was lunchtime. Popped in (sat outside) for some food and a coffee. It was very nice.

We were staying local and were tempted by the people eating food as we walked past . We called back after our walk and enjoyed fresh bake well tarts and lovely cuppa and decided to eat our evening meal which was gorgeous a fresh chili and jerk chicken with chilled wine and great service.So impressed we called back for drinks and the delightful owner popped the Newcastle match on for us !!!How kind ...This establishment is exceptional and well worth a visit .

Wouldn't go back, very pricey for what it is. One round of sandwiches with shop bought white bread, with a tablespoon of coleslaw and garnish £9.50. Small breakfast doesn't even come with a slice of toast or any sort of carbohydrates. All of our meals were like kids portions and we all left hungry after a bill similar to a restaurant. Very dissappointed at this place.

After visiting the Highland Games where queues for food went on for miles this little place came to our rescue. Lovely cafe in the middle of town with parking right outside. We had sandwiches made to order to take away. The lady who served us was so friendly and helpful and the sandwiches were delicious. We could have sat in and enjoyed the luscious looking cakes as well but alas we had to press on.

What a great restaurant...we dined here both nights whilst in the area and it was outstanding. The food was delicious...and our server was a pleasant young man named Allister..he was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He answered all of our questions and made wonderful suggestions. David the manager/ Owner sent over a Hagis for me to try after he heard me asking about it. Great restaurant great service if you're in the area go here I promise you won't be disappointed

This Deli is an absolute gem of the local area. Warm and welcoming staff, a lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious! We stayed one night at local accommodation and this place was a godsend! We cannot recommend it enough if you are in the local area! The owners have a beautiful concept and are executing everything brilliantly.. can thoroughly recommend.

Food was excellent Staff were absolutely lovely and helpful We ordered cobs and quiche to take away and asked if they could cut the cobs in half so we could share between the two of us. They did this and individually wrapped them. Nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly recommend this deli …. Well done 😊

Stopped for lunch on the way to Assynt and it was delicious! We had toasties, Cullen skunk and pie and beans, all of which were great and the scones and coffee were fab! Lovely rustic cafe with outdoor seating and the staff were all very pleasant. Will come again if I pass this way!

This is really a ‘hidden gem’..great food menu, vast array of cakes, good selection of beers wine and the usual deli items etc and most importantly of all …great staff….shhhh don’t tell anyone …oops too late !

Small deli and restaurant. Food looked good we settled for 1 large cheese scone and 2 warmed up plum tarts with coffee, latte and a tea. We also had additional company ... seagull and a dragon fly!

Delicious lunch here - jacket spud and a quiche and salad. Good, quick service, very friendly. A good menu with sandwiches, toasties, jackets, coffee, cakes etc. Cakes and chutneys etc for sale as well.

Viel Auswahl haben Sie abends in Stratgpeffer nicht, wenn Sie nicht in einem der ausrangierten Hotels dinieren möchten. Alles andere war geschlossen. Hier lief Fussball und die Bedienung war einigermassen freundlich. Leider habe ich mich für das Chilli entschieden. Das gab es dann auch - mit Reis und Nachos. Insgesamt etwas lieblos und fad. Nächstes Mal werde ich nach Dingwall fahren.

No opening hours advertised front of house. No menu advertised front of house, no prices advertised front of house when wifey and I visited Tuesday evening. When we asked for Pizza we were informed they only served Pizza Thurs, Fri etc; he said something about the oven that I didn’t catch. So we left. As i had a feeling about this business I decided to ring Thursday lunch time to ask what time they started serving Pizza; if at all. I was right; Pizza was not being served this Thursday. Strathpeffer is a beautiful Victorian Spa town. One certainly doesn’t get good old Victorian service from this place. If your happy with what the business is prepared to serve you that day then all will be good. We won’t be going back.

When staying at The Highland hotel this weekend we were looking for somewhere for dinner and tried here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was great, comfort food at its best. Would definitely recommend

Lovely local eatery with a good menu of favourites like, burgers, pizzas and fish. Everything tasted great, the food tasted great and the cheesecake was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We stumbled across this place on a cold Saturday after walking from Dingwall on the Peffery Way. In need of a hot drink to revive us before the return journey we were delighted to find it open. We were seated in a lovely little room next to the main Deli, and we shared a delicious (huge!) scone with jam and clotted cream. The tea and hot chocolate were equally good. Now we know it's here, we'll definitely be back!

Always good, consistent food and staff are always welcoming and friendly. We were in our work clothes but still made very welcome. We got take out but sat inside as it was very cold out, but staff were fine, and when we commented on how good the fresh baking smelt, we were offered a sample to try . I still don't know why we said no thanks must have been out of politeness. 🤔

On a cold January night, I ventured out from the hotel. Stumbled across this gem of a place. Wasn't busy on a Tuesday night ( 3 locals and me). Locals were friendly chatting to me, ordered an Estrella and cheeseburger and chips. Beer was almost instant, food was a usual wait, but was well worth it. Very favourable and filling. Sky sports is a plus. Owner was chatty and friendly. If anyone in area well worth a visit

Decided to walk around Strathpeffer to explore as was staying at Highland hotel. Needed a cuppa and a snack to keep us going. Happened upon Deli in the square. Very welcoming. Great choice of food, from snacks to meals to cakes etc. Popular place. Would recommend.

Very tasty meal, something with chicken, red cabbage and mashed potatoes. It didn't go very well with reservations, but it was no problem, we were parked outside with something to drink and a table became available quite quickly, which was arranged for us. For dessert a delicious chai tea latte.

We arrived in Strathpeffer on a cold, dark and very wet Saturday evening looking for a place to grab a drink. We were recommended the deli in the square and we weren’t disappointed. My husband and I had a couple of drinks, warmed up and soaked up the atmosphere. There is a huge range of drinks available and the staff were very welcoming.

Oh dear - this was supposed to be a wee treat as I am normally the cook in the house. Outcome was disappointing, the shared squid starter showed promise bu the pizza fell well short of expectations, burnt on the bottom, undercooked through the middle and the meat feast and cheese topping not crispy or caramelised. When asked if everything was OK I made the above comments but received no response - only the bill !!

After numerous great visits over the years we will not return. Food was terrible and wine disappointing (although staff very friendly and most helpful). Has this eatery changed owners? 🤷‍♀️

Had an okay meal only because our hotel couldn’t accommodate.anyway .beware of service charge .not happy getting £5 added when the bill is high enough .food wasn’t up to scratch either so wouldn’t recommend I’m afraid.which is a shame as lots of family local

Staying in Strathpeffer then this place is a must! Local source food, freshly cooked. The Deli smells amazing the second you open the door. Engaging hosts who will recommend places to stay. I will definitely be returning….possibly slight detour as I return from Wick!

Delicious takeout dinner for my Airbnb. Lovely quiche (I’m not always a big fan of quiche but this was amazing) with a tasty salad. Simple food done well.

I’ve eaten takeaway sandwiches from here before and they were ok. However, today we thought it might be nice to sit in but sadly they stated “we are legally not allowed under 5s in the building due to licensing laws.” Never heard of this law...

Partly a shop, partly a cafe. On a wet morning, a very welcome venue for morning coffee. Very good coffee and a good scone with butter and jam. Very clean toilet. Staff attentive. Well worth a visit.
