We booked for their festive menu. The decor is beautiful at Christmas time. So festive. Unfortunately the atmosphere, service and food did not match the decor which was really disappointing. Combined with the meal being average at best, we were also shocked to find that a house bottle of red wine was £30! My son asked for a bread roll with butter and got a slice of toast plus his meal arrived after everyone had finished. Although, in fairness, they did not charge us for his meal as a result. Nor could my daughter eat her butternut soup as it was way too spicy. It’s a lovely venue for a pint but the quality of the food needs to improve a lot before we would ever consider eating there again unfortunately.

Service was not good. Ordered a Brioche bacon (I thought it was sausage and bacon) my mistake. It arrived plain with two small streaky bacon pieces in it. This was £8!!! I asked for a sausage which half was put into the roll. I was charge in total £11.50 for this. Dreadful. We ordered tea and the pot came out half empty. I asked three times for a pot of boiling water. First a cup of boiling water came then later after going to the counter we got the pot. No-one came to take our dirty dishes away. Looked behind the bar and three members of staff chatting. Would not return here. One positive part was the amazing Christmas decorations. Advice would be to give some of the staff basic training.

Really disappointing evening at Kingswood Arms. The pub is beautiful but totally let down by the food and service. All our mains were poor but the ‘Lamb Shoulder Sheppards pie’ was an absolute joke. £23 for a bowl of mash, veg and about 2 chunks of lamb was a disgrace. The kids burger was pretty pathetic too. Only go for drinks not food

We were a group of 12 and had pre ordered our meals 5 weeks before our booking. We arrived and were shown to our table but nobody came to take our drinks order. After asking twice we finally got drinks 45 minutes after arriving. We booked for 7.30 but food didn’t arrive to the table until 9.30. We asked for a jug of water and after waiting 30 mins I got up and approached a lady at the till/service area and said that I think our table had been forgotten as the service was not very good and we were still waiting for some water and dessert menus (the restaurant wasn’t even half booked). The lady told me that they were busy and she was ‘only there as cover staff’. I said that I didn’t think that the restaurant was that busy (I twice went to service area to ask for drinks where 2/3 staff were standing around chatting) and was then told that I had an attitude! When returning from the ladies room I caught the lady at the service desk gossiping about me and the 2 waitresses told her to ‘shhh’ as I was coming past. We were then told that we need to leave as they are closing. We’d barely finished our meal, due to slow service and now we had to go! Food was ok but service and staff very poor!!

Extremely disappointing . We ordered 4 light dishes for lunch . The mashed potatoes in 2 of them was so dry it had a crust, but I decided to let it go. The sandwich was ok. The calamari was undercooked and only luke warm when it arrived. Had to send it back. I was offered a replacement that never came . The rest of the party finished eating and by then I just wanted to leave. It took a while to find someone . When I did , I mentioned I was still waiting for my meal but that after so long I did not want it anymore and wanted a refund ( we had paid at the bar at the time of ordering) . No issues getting my money back but I was given only an unconvinced apology. No trying to get us back to prove this was a one off, no offer of drinks on the house…. They did not seem to care that I had to leave after 2 h without having a meal. What a shame, it used to be a nice place to eat. Not going back and neither will my friends.

Really nice service for a late lunch today (approx 3.30pm) for 3 people. Allergies were very well handled - my son has severe ones, the waiter listened carefully to his allergies and what we would possibly like to order and checked with the chef (sadly not all restaurants are on the ball). Meals arrived hot and everyone enjoyed their choice. Ingredients were fresh and meals well presented. Thank you to gentleman and lady serving us today, they are a credit to your business! On a side note - toilets were clean and so was the restaurant area.

Overpriced drinks and very average food. Sat outside which was nice and had good service, but the bill was disproportionately high for the overall experience. £22 for a glass of wine and pint of beer. Frankly, too much.

We were a party of five family members. One of us is a wheelchair user and I had asked for a table in a location where steps wouldn’t be an issue. The staff had put us on a lovely table near the bar area with lots of space and even gave us table service, which isn’t normally done for the bar area. The food was great - two of us had roast dinners and these were delicious and plentiful. The others had Caesar salad with salmon, fish and chips, and steak and everyone enjoyed their food very much. The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. A very enjoyable Sunday lunch!

This pub is central for my family to gather. So we arrived for our first visit on Sunday for a 3pm lunch. weather was brilliant so we sat in the garden. The pub is full of character with a beautiful garden. All the staff were very friendly and the service was generally good. However, the prices are a little expensive for what you get. the food was quite good but the veg seemed to have been boiled to death. The advertised "pink" beef wasn't although it was tasty! Overall my family enjoyed the day but I would hesitate to return on the basis of the overcooked veg, the high prices and ...........the 12.5% service charge which I only noticed after paying the bill! Don't get me wrong, as an ex hotelier, I always tip for good service, but I detest pubs that just add their own service charge, especially as we were in the garden and had to trek to the bar every time we wanted drinks! It would be nice if the manager could acknowledge my comments personally but I wouldn't be happy to receive the standard secretarial response that I have now read in so many of the Kingswood Arms reviews.

Popped in for food, but didn’t get that far. It was bank holiday Monday, expected it to be busy, but was really quiet. Ordered 2 drinks double JD and coke and a pale ale, £19.10. The JD was £12.20. It’s a pub in a village, not Soho in London.

I wanted to leave a review after reading so many of the recent negative ones.We visited on Sunday for my mother's 80th and all commented on leaving how it was one of the nicest meals out as a family we had had in a long time.Their COVID-19 precautions and track & trace set up were extremely well done, service throughout our meal was prompt and very personable, and everyone enjoyed both their starters and mains. The squid and the tomato soup were particularly commented on, and my Mum said it was the nicest roast she's ever had outside of her own home! Will definitely be returning.

I visited this pub at least 4 times last year with a big crowd and had a lovely day!!! Have always thought ‘it’s a nice pub’ we ordered 2 Caesar salads today and when they came up and I took one look and sent it back!!!! It was a salad and it was yellow and brown not one piece of green!!! The gem lettuce was rotting and the chef had actually thrown the roots in which were brown!!!! The chicken didn’t look any better...... such a shame because I will never go there again!! We didn’t even get offered a discount on our drinks for the inconvenience so we left and ate elsewhere.

The fish was lovely with plenty of chips and mushy peas and tartare sauce Fortunately we were able to upgrade to a bigger table for the six of us before the family joined us for drinks and chatsI will definitely book next time There was plenty of room in the car park with more parking in the road if neededWe all enjoyed our visit here I thought some of the drink prices a little high but the food was excellent and good value for money Obviously with how busy it was I am not alone in this There were lots of big family gatherings in the restaurant as well as couples and fours Definitely recommend this pub restaurant

This pub used to be a delight to visit, but over recent years the running of it has just got worse. The seats are dirty, tables grubby, and just generally has a run down feel about it. Someone needs to grab this little gold mine and return it back to our much loved village pub

We have visited the bar area for around four years and this was very much a local pub with locals and golf locals. Always had a local feel to it. Never dined in the restaurant until last night, 18/12/19. As we were sitting in the bar area we did read the many negative reviews posted recently and started to think, oh god, what have we done booking here !! However, our initial contact with the very friendly, professional and customer focussed Chelsea, convinced us that we should still embrace the dining area. The actual restaurant is a lovely setting and comfortable , so a nice area to dine in. We found the service very good and the food absolutely fine. Chelsea made all the difference to be honest as she was very supportive and keen to make sure all was at it should be. We would dine here again because of Chelsea. We dine out a lot so for us, the below are some points to note in a positive fashion:The pate toast with starter should be toasted both sides. Was only toasted one side and could be a better quality bread used. Prawn starter could be a little largerDining staff seemed a little nervous, as if they were trying too hard which is understandable with all the negative reviews but at least they were trying which is good. Mains were very good and Chelsea and kitchen were really helpful in ensuring my steak was cooked perfectly. All in all, we enjoyed our evening and will go back to dine again. Mainly due to Chelsea as she made all the difference. Chelsea is an excellent addition to the team and is very good and will be a DM very soon. As outlined above, this was very much a local pub with many local visitors and guests. Why not have an evening inviting the locals in (offer a drink and nibbles) and discuss feedback and embrace all thoughts and communication. This would be well received plus will be seen as a step forward to resolve recent feedback. Well done Chelsea, you were brilliant and because of your outstanding service, we will dine with you again. Thank you James.

The food was ok not as good as I've had before the Kedgeree was dry both the fish and the rice with not a lot of flavour and my friends burger was also quite dry but the worst bit was the £7 Bakewell tart dessert that was a tiny triangle that came with the smallest 'jug' of custard, it was about an inch tall and wide, not good value at all. The one saving grace was Harry, he still made the evening special.

We arrived just after 12 and were the first 2 in the restaurant, were seated and given the menus. We came here with friends for lunch on a rainy day. Beautiful countryside and an inviting atmosphere. However, the service and food were disappointing. Our first server with drinks gave the impression she would rather be somewhere else. Our food (chicken breast) arrived (not hot enough on lukewarm plates, and not fully cooked) presentation was messy and unappetising. We had to look closely on what was actually on the plate, lack of any mixed vegetables. We feel this particular choice was overpriced for that serving, and definitely not value for money. The dessert while very tasty, was overpriced for the minimalist serving. We are due to return, and sincerely hope that things will improve by September.

Visited with friends last night. The menu is more expensive than most in the area but we were expecting good things...however, despite at least 15 tables being free ALL night the waiting staff were grumbling about us because we only ordered sharing platters and pizza. We ordered a bottle of wine and some spirits, the waiter plonked the bottle on the table and didn't even take the lid off, let alone offer a taste. We struggled with the lid so ordered glasses after that. There were loads of fruit flies everywhere. Worst of all, before I ordered a second drink I asked if it was ok to leave my car over night because of all the parking fine signs. They said they didn't know but after asking twice no one came back to me. This is either IRRESPONSIBLE or possibly a money making SCAM. I wont be returning. On the positive side, the pizza was pleasant and freshly made and the sharing platters had reasonable portions.

My pub of choice for the Kingswood area. Large enough to have everything you need, plenty of outdoor seating, big restaurant area, large bar area and private rooms as well. Car park is a bit tiny, especially when the place is full, but parking can normally be found on the road outside. Good choice of real ales, bit on the pricey side overall, but you have to expect that in the heart of Surrey for such a charming place. Food is always of good quality, I have never had cause to complain.

This is a local pub for my family and I and we have been here on numerous occasions. It’s a beautiful pub in a pretty location. My family and I have not been here for lunch or dinner since last summer, so after a long dog walk recently we decided, as the sun was shining we would stop here for lunch. The pub and restaurant were not busy on the day we visited. We were sat in the rear garden when we ordered our food. We ordered prawns, caesar salad and ribs with fries. The chicken on the salad was so dry it was inedible, it resembled dry shredded chicken and the portion size for a main was tiny. The prawns were cold and tasteless and the ribs looked like processed ribs you microwave in a bag. Just dreadful. As I said I have eaten her on many occasions before and the food was always fine. When I paid for the bill £67 I mentioned to the barman that the food was disappointing and inedible. He’s reply was “ I’m not sure what you want me to do about that” not the answer I expected.

The food and service here used to be excellent so the place was usually packed. The service is still good and our waiter did a good job at looking after us. However, the food is now a real let-down, with bland, almost canteen style food. I had steak pie and my wife had beef. Both dishes were serviced with mash and a small amount of cabbage. Whilst there was nothing really wrong with the food it was very uninspiring and I could have cooked this at home (I’m not a great cook).

We have been visiting the Kingswood Arms for years, knowing with very few exceptions we were going to have a delicious dinner. We then moved away from the area but made a special trip last week as we are (WERE) massive fans of the ribs. Best for miles. Imagine our disappointment when we heard the menu had been changed to the Fuller's standards. Sure, ribs, burgers and pies are still available but they were very average (in fact the ribs were pretty horrid) What a terrible shame. We won't be returning unless, as the helpful waitress told us, they manage to get permission from their head office to supply the same gorgeous sauce on their ribs, as apparently there was a general outcry of disappointment. And, very unusually, the restaurant was pretty empty on a Friday night, which we've never seen before. There is better food to be had not too far away.

On my way back from London yesterday, we stumbled across the lovely Fullers Pub, as we know Fullers are reliable and have had good experience before, so thought to search ones in the area. We walked in and were instantly welcomed by two young members of staff behind the bar with a friendly smile. Then proceeded up to a conservatory to be seated and look at the menu. You are spoiled for choice with food, from sandwiches, pizzas, and then the main menu as well. We decided to go for the Crispy Squid as a starter, and then the Blade of Beef. (Side note: we wanted to change a couple of things on the dish due to dietary requirements, and the staff were very helpful and knowledgable in this). When the food arrived, the beef was beautiful, falling apart and very very tasty (the chefs truly did a great job). Very pleased that we stopped here, as the staff who served in the restaurant were lovely, and the food and overall experience were worth it! Definitely will be returning again.

This pub is well known to us, every few months we would pop in for a drink or some food we never thought the food to be amazing under previous ownership but it was edible.

My wife and I ordered the stake sandwich and chips, what a mistake. The stake was as tough as leather that you couldn’t chew it. We complained and the lady said I’ll let the chef know! I noticed that the pub has changed hands and gone back to a pub chain. It’s clearly lost the high standards it had when it was privately owned. Save your money and eat somewhere else.

I’m not a local, which a lot of the recent reviewers seem to be, so I can’t comment for how it’s changed since being a “local pub”. However we came here for a family dinner and really enjoyed it. The food was very good, I had the steak and mushroom pie which was fantastic, and everyone else was raving about their food too. There was a bit of an issue with the nachos being a little too stuck together, but we mentioned it to our server who immediately whisked the plate off and returned maybe 10 minutes later with a freshly cooked batch which was perfect and delicious. We all had sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and it was also delicious! The drinks were good too. All in all, a really enjoyable meal, and at no point did we feel rushed or pressured. The food came out quite quickly, but it wasn’t so quick that you felt it had just been sitting there or had just come out of a microwave. It was all lovely and we all ate more than we had planned to!

Not only did they get my order wrong my friend had eaten b 4 me and I had to wait then my dish came after 20 mins and guess what they got it wrong again Derr!!! .. although the staff were very sorry it spoilt the day totally.. I have been living in the area for years using this place all the time I was sooooo disappointed .. I won’t be rushing back x bring back the Slayfords please it’s such a waste of what was a great pub/restaurant

Although the atmosphere and service were fine we were really disappointed at the different menu which we have since learned is due to a change of management. We have been regular visitors for a few years. We take my elderly father-in-law who in the past has really enjoyed the sharing platters. Today’s Tapas platter was a set one rather than having the normal selection to choose from- the calamari was under cooked and there was more sauce than meatball! We will be looking for another venue for our next lunch.

We’ve lived in Kingswood for the past 6 years and the Kingswood Arms has always been our kitchen away from home with great food and an awesome atmosphere! Fullers took over roughly a month ago and since the take-over the service and food have gone completely down hill. Let’s start with the food - we eat at Arms at least twice a week, I would always have the ribs, which were amazing, and my wife would have the 28 day aged steak, however, since the Fuller take over the food and service has gone to pot! The ribs are now as dry as leather boots, and the marinade is a tomato sauce instead of the legendary maple syrup. According to management this is the ‘legendary’ Fullers special rib sauce, but it tastes rancid!

After years of loyal custom we are dismayed to find that the acquisition by Fullers has spoiled this pub already. Nothing available on the menu - no kidneys, no fish and chips ... and others were being told similar. When our food arrived we were massively disappointed. Prawns starter : four small shelled prawns (straight out the freezer no doubt ), a small handful of bagged salad leaves, a dollop of garlic mayo: £8.50, that’s £2 a prawn, not even a large one, just your regular sized ones you’d get in supermarket that you would expect to pay £4 for a whole pack of.

We were shown to our table in the Conservatory and given menus which were extensive. All the food arrived in a timely manner however it could have been a tad warmer.

We have visited several times over 15 years and it’s been ok. Last Friday we ordered sausage and mash and we were served Christmas leftovers. Four tiny chippolads totally over cooked. What a waste of money. My wife had a very bland over priced and dry fish cake. All in all a very bad experience. When we mentioned the four tiny sausages the waitress simply laughed.

Three of us had a lovely Sunday Lunch (the menu called it Sunday Dinner but it is Kingswood) with a excellent, friendly service. We all wanted the roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and a lovely assortment of al dente vegetables. Good selection of wines but please make the Malbec available but the glass, especially as it is so popular now

Lots of choice but beware..............the portions are HUGE! To much for me to eat a main after my starter so second time visit I had two starters. Food is of the highest quality and cooked to perfection. We ate in the Conservatory both times and I wouldn't want to eat anywhere else as that is spacious and light. Friendly approachable staff and there is no rush to seat other diners at your table so you're able to completely relax for the evening. The pub area gets absolutely rammed on Friday evenings but that doesn't actually detract too much from peaceful ambience of the eating area. Great for small groups of friends and just a deux!

The Conservatory is a delightful place to eat, the food is quite good although, my girlfriend said she felt as though she was “swimming around” in her Thai green chicken curry, trying to find the chicken. She did enjoy her Baileys and Cappuccino creme brûlée. l had the locally sourced Cumberland sausages and mash with onion gravy, which l thoroughly enjoyed. The beer and the wine are also excellent. The staff are all very friendly and professional. Would we go again, most definitely.

Checked several times before booking that there were gluten free choices. The menu when it came was the normal menu with lots of choices crossed out. When ordering it appeared that they had not crossed out all the choices with gluten in it, and therefore I was denied the options I picked from the already redacted menu. The staff did not appear to know what foods contain wheat and the desert menu basically had nothing. Even Ice Cream was not gluten free.

Visited for lunch on a Sunday and it was very busy and staff seemed to be struggling. Having called before to check that they catered for Wheat/Gluten free food, I was advised that it was not a problem and anything I wanted on the menu would be catered accordingly. However, sadly, this was not the case. The normal Menu had most of the items crossed out and a few left which were gluten free options. Not much choice. Also, the service was slow and the others who had roast were not impressed either as the food was not hot. It was a busy time but I am sure this is expected by the management and should be catered for accordingly. On the plus side, this place has a good atmosphere and could be so much better with a some care and attention to the allergen menu and food in general.

We had cravings - for beer and for something sweet. Two pints were duly necked. The warm double chocolate fondant with coffee ice cream definitely hit the spot - possibly the best ever. Staff were good too.

Planning permission was eventually received for conversion of the pub into residential units - and work has now commenced on the car park. A great pity - as this pub has played a large part in the lives of the local Reigate Hill community for many decades, and now has gone forever.

Very disappointed. We were a little late because the road was closed and we had to go a long way to get there, the lady behind the bar was not happy with us even after we apologised. The price of each of our meals was £18 so you expect a good standard. The fish in the fish and chips was very small and overcooked and the peas were barely warm. The fish pie had one king prawn in it and was served with 8 green beans and 2 halves of carrot. The aubergine gratin was burnt and when I asked for another one the waitress said it was supposed to look like that, but when I pointed out that its possible to cook it without burning it she took it away. All in all, it wasn't a nice experience and we certainly won't be going back.

36 of us from Woodhatch WI went for the Christmas dinner menu. We had an area of the restaurant set aside for us. When we arrived the tables were beautifully set and crackers were provided for us. Everyone agreed they had really enjoyed their meal. All the meals arrived hot and we were served quickly considering the size of the group. The staff were fantastic, the food was both delicious and plentiful. The lemon meringue Sunday was my favourite dessert this year. I highly recommend this very friendly pub/restaurant.
