On raising my concern, I was told that 7 pieces of chicken is "standard" and that I should have ordered large if I wanted more - bizarre... Manager then came to see us and told me that 6 pieces of chicken is standard - ???? The manager then became loud and agitated because I didn't want the meal replaced - my friends were half way through their meals. The manager made a small issue into a major disruption to our meal. He was very rude. After some debate, he agreed to remove my (uneaten) meal from the bill. Strongly advise fellow curry lovers to pass by this dive and go to The Penn Tandoori who have never let us down for food or service over three decades.

Absolutely amazing and attentive service chef comes out to ask how you want your food, even created my very own personal dish as I wanted dupiaza but a little more sweet. Perfect curry lovely atmosphere and setting. Feels like a very special place! Special thanks to Misbah - we will be back very soon!!

Having heard good things about this place we booked a table of 10 for 8pm weeks in advance. We arrived promptly approx 1950 and were told the table will be ready soon and showed us to the tiny bar to get drinks. I was driving so ordered a soda water with lime. I was served warm flat soda water with hardly any lime, I asked the grumpy bar man for some more lime and was given the a look of disgust, he obliged and poured a minuscule amount extra into my warm flat soda water. I thanked him for his generosity. Approx 2030, some 40 mins after arriving, the waiter came to take our order while we were still sat in the tiny bar. We asked for individual bills but the waiter explained it was easier for the kitchen to have one order and that he could split the bills at the end of the meal. We agreed to this and order and were shown to the table about 10 mins after. The curries we order were mostly disappointing, very bland with hardly any spice. My curry had 3 small pieces or tasteless chicken complete with gristle. The nan bread was swimming with grease and was very small. My friends had similar opinions about the lack of taste and curries being bland. When we came to pay the bill the waiter tried to overcharge 2 of the couples and this had to be pointed out to him. He demanded he was right even though when we added up our individual amounts it came to £20 more than the original bill. Overall the place was a big disappointment, unimpressed with the food and to be honest the whole place needs a good clean, very dusty.

A gem of a restaurant! Been coming here for years, as it’s so special. The food is by far the best Indian cuisine I’ve ever tasted. All dishes are tailored to suit but the king prawns are awesome!! Misbah and the team are so welcoming, and we always leave having had the best night, Really recommend!!

The food is absolutely fantastic…. Been eating here many times and always have a great meal…. The lamb supreme is top notch! Serves alcohol which is an added bonus rather than like most places that ask you to bring your own if you wish….. lovely building and the service is quality 10/10

Come here with my fiancé for the first time on a Monday evening as we were looking to try a new Indian restaurant local to us. We were excited to try out Kings Repose as was recommended by a few friends and I have to say was not disapointed. The venue looks absolutely amazing as a listed building the interior is very cozy. The staff are fabulous very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely stunning, very fresh, tasty and affordable. Highly recommend to anyone and definitely will come back for more.

Service was very slow, even though place wasn't busy. Hour to get food, that when we received was not good at all, bland and no spices with more sauce than meat. Grease filled naan breads. All way during food, rather than being allowed to eat, we were interrupted constantly by two waiters, taking glasses and plates, even before empty. It's listed as 5* but I think this must be a very old rating. The restaurant could do with a good clean, as there was a lot of dust and cobwebs.

First time visiting today and definitely won’t be the last! Very welcoming from the moment we arrived. Went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we required. Quality of food was outstanding.

This restaurant is situated in a beautiful grade 2 listed building which on adds to the experience of the visit, The staff and owner are very friendly and welcoming, the bar is very well stocked so regardless of your preference you will be catered for, But the main reason to visit a restaurant is the food, of which is nothing short of fantastic, we shared numerous starter some of which we had not seen in a restaurant before and where very pleasantly surprised, then mains, rice, knan etc did not disappoint, the prices where very reasonable, when I first walked into the restaurant my first impression was.that this is going to be expensive, but was very surprised when I opened the menu, What I really like about this restaurant other than the amazing food is that its homely and welcoming, it not a huge place with lots of tables turning out hundreds of meals per night, which made our visit far more pleasurable than a big chain restaurant, I was especially grateful to the owner at the end of the evening, due to the taxi I booked being very late, but rather than terfing me out insisted I remain in the restaurant and they would stay open until I was safely on my way,.they even turned the hearers on to make sure I didn't get cold, When I'm in the area again I will certainly be visiting again, can't recommend enough,

We have visited the kings repose almost since it opened. We have moved location but still more than happy to travel 40mins fir some of the best food. The large prawns are super tasty and always well cooked. Monsieur, his brother and the staff are super friendly and accommodating for your tastes. Plenty of choice aswell as usual favorites. More expensive than most Indians but worth it for quality. Having eaten at many places Ashas Birmingham, Opheems Birmingham, and travelled to India extensively, we love this place. Worth the visit.

Avoid Saturday Night!!! Four of us booked a table for 6.30 Saturday night. We were squeezed into a corner table back to back with adjoining tables - there were 4 of us but 6 chairs around a small table that barely fitted us let alone another two unwanted chairs. All the tables were that squashed together there was nowhere to put the unwanted two chairs! We waited until 7.45 for our food and neighbouring tables were complaining also - one table had sat for 1 1/2 hours waiting for food! Food was nice and staff friendly but they appear to be more bothered about squeezing too many ‘covers’ in than the dining experience. We won’t be returning.

Thought we would give TKR another whirl after our last visit several years ago when we were kept waiting two hours to be fed. It’s still exactly the same interior, shabby chic, olde worlde or a bit of a dusty mess, take your pick. Pretty unimpressive reception, sort of milled about trying to get someone’s attention, bear in mind this was 7pm on a Wednesday. Eventually got seated, 5 on a table for four so a bit snug. Then the fun started, I have to say we had the most sullen waiter I have ever experienced, I found myself looking around expecting Michael McIntyre to jump out and tell us we we on his big show. He pretty much launched the plates across the table, any request such as a drink was met with a sort of “really you want a drink” the evening progressed and we found ourselves greatly amused by our waiters increasing levels of disinterest. The saving grace was the food, it was very nice indeed, lovely flavours, generous portions all served up with complete indifference. On departing we had a few words with who I assumed was the proprietor, who was charm personified and very insistent the birthday boy ( me) had a complimentary drink to see us on our way. We politely declined and left. Top marks for the food, C- for the ambiance.

A terrible customer service experience ruining, what was meant to be, a good birthday night. Table was booked in advance for 15 people (14 arrived) for half 7, we arrived early and was told that we would be seated as soon as our table was available which we thought would be our booking time. What fools we were. 40 minutes we waited, with the staff unable to provide us an estimated time to be seated. No apologies, just answers with attitude. When we told the host that we wanted to cancel and look elswhere (the time was 8:30 at this point) he began shouting at us, blaming us for bringing such a large party like we handn't gave them notice by booking the table in the first place. The attitude he gave us was absolutely disgusting, to the point where a few guests that weren't part of out party were defending us and called the host out on his awful behavior. Went elsewhere, got a very well prepared Indian from hosts who actually knew how to provide a decent service. Avoid here

Absolutely love The Kings Repose. We first visited about 7 years ago, it was a little bit of a distance from where we live but when you find quality you're happy to travel. In the last 7 years we've only been to 1 other Indian Restaurant and that's only because we were in a different area at the time. The moment we turn up we're made to feel welcome, we've been advised on different flavours and tastes but never out of our boundaries. Can honestly say we have only ever had amazing meals here. Repeat customers for a reason... its the best Indian restaurant around

My wife and I visited here recently on a Saturday night. I found the staff was attentive, friendly and polite. The building is absolutely beautiful and very traditional. Tucked away in a lovely setting. The food was delightful and tasty I had a chicken tikka rogan josh which I couldn’t fault. Served hot, and fresh. The garlic naan was probably the best I’ve had in a long time light, fluffy and tasty. Definitely recommend a visit and I will be back again to eat soon.

A friend and I booked for 6pm on a Saturday night. When we arrived it was chaotic and we had to wait for our table. The place is small and cramped so social distancing was difficult. Once at our table I had to ask for water and our food took a while to arrive. There was no interaction from or between members of staff, no friendliness or smiles. In fact, we were largely ignored - no-one asked if our meal was ok or if we wanted another drink. My vegetarian dish was potato, carrots and broccoli in a bland sauce but my friend's king prawn dish and naan were good. This place seriously needs refurbishment, it is dark, dingy and dowdy. I was not at all impressed at the whole experience and will definitely take my unappreciated custom elsewhere in future and won't be returning.

Me and my boyfriend visited for the first time tonight after he found the restaurant by its good reviews, service was great and the staff were super friendly. The food was lovely I had a lamb tikka saag and the lamb was very nice and not fatty like you find at many other Indian restaurants and my boyfriend really enjoyed his garlic chilli chicken curry. The atmosphere was nice and I loved the traditional style building!

It was my dads birthday and they happily accommodated a larger family from 2 households. They were so kind and made us feel welcome. They also helped present a cake and spent the time talking to us. Food was excellent as always.

Went for our wedding anniversary and had a gorgeous meal. Absolutely recommend the yuk sung starter...simply divine! My husband tried a chefs special with keema in and loved it too. The special nan is a must also! All staff super helpful and the front of house gentleman is fantastic in terms of service. A little more pricey maybe than some Indian restaurants, but absolutely worth it for portion size and quality!!!

This was our first meal out since lockdown. It had been recommended to me ages ago and we had booked to go and then everything got shut down. It is a lovely listed building just out of Featherstone, down a dirt track that needs traversing with care. The staff were welcoming and polite. It isn't a massive place and the restaurant is upstairs, it's slightly dark, but, we were in a barn so, I think it was fitting really. We did have quite a wait between our poppadoms and the main course, but it was fairly busy and when it came it was worth the wait,I had a lamb jalfrezi with rice and a nan bread, which was excellent. My wife had the tikka, that she said was lovely. My son and his girlfriend had milder dishes that they allowed me to try but after my jalfrezi it was a bit like having stew. We all opted for a dessert and I won't list them all here, but they were also beautiful. It is a smallish place and if you are really nervous about social distancing I'd leave it for a while, but it's definitely, worth a visit. The food is excellent.

I came to your restaurant for my 40th birthday 17 yrs ago and loved the atmosphere. I chose the king prawn dish that was served with an egg. I do not remember the name of the dish but it was fantastic.....I shall return one day.

Always a friendly warm welcome, tonight me and my partner asked for some recommendations to try something new, the manager went above and beyond to create us our own personalised curry’s. One of the best curry’s I’ve had. Would recommended to anyone!

Visited today, we have been a few times and the food is always amazing. This evening we took our 9 year old for his first visit and he said it was the best curry he has ever had. Staff are always really friendly and they can’t do enough for you and as soon as your glass is empty they are offering to get you another drink. We always take the staff’s advise on food and have never been let down always a brilliant experience. 100% would recommend to others.

Visited last night with my wife and was very impressed. I rarely leave reviews unless a place is very poor or very good, this place is very good indeed. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere, small and quaint old English barn conversion with very well cooked Indian food being served. Works brilliantly. The food has loads of flavour, is well cooked and the portions are generous. Cheese and keema naan is so good I could just have a plate full of those for my meal. Will be back.

Had a take away meal which I ate in the Featherstone Farm Hotel. Very nice meal. Unfortunatly they cannot sell drink to take away for consumption off the premises.

Lovely evening and delicious meal. The restaurant itself is situated in a charming barn conversion which has retained its 17th century character. The chef came around the diners to check on our meals which were plentiful and delicious. So much we couldn’t eat it all. There is a small, cosy bar and despite the service sometimes being a little slow, we didn’t mind because of the lively atmosphere. All in all a great evening and would recommend.

Disgraceful customer service. Avoid busy times at all costs! Booking made well in advance for 8.45 Saturday. At 9.10 no sign or idea from staff when a table would be available.Instead the management tried to railroad us into buying drinks with no commitment when we could sit down to eat. No apology or attempt to deal with the situation. Clearly the restaurant adopts an overbooking policy allowing walk in customers to get tables ahead of those pre booked. Considering it’s situation,(nowhere near anything else), I suggest don’t bother and go somewhere more accommodating and welcoming.

I don't normally write reviews but my welcome and the food at The Kings Repose deserve one. The food was delicious but so plentiful I had to ask for a 'doggy bag' and had my second meal at home. If I didn't live 4 hours away I would be a very regular visitor. Will return as soon as I am back in the area.

After moving to the area last year me and my partner tried the kings repose after it was recommended by friends. We have been to the reaturaunt a few times and it's the best curry we have eaten. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff who try to make orders personal to our taste.

Took the misses for a curry last night & it was spot on, really interesting little place, staff were very attentive... asked what flavours/ spice we liked & we left our choices in there capable hands. The curry’s, rice & nan were lovely, decent portion size.

After having tried for the first time an evening dinner at this off road restaurant. The first impression you see is a Broken car parks with with water puddles.

We have recently found the kings and what a treasure it is. Lovely surrounding friendly staff and outstanding high quality food and service. Would definitely recommend.

We were told that NYE would be £30 per person for a 3 course meal so decided to give it a go. After a lengthy wait we were seated to disappointing starters. The mains were quite nice although very small portions. The real issues started after when we were asked if we wanted a coffee or desert and was told we would have to pay extra for this. I immediately asked why this wasn't included as we only had 2 of the 3 courses. The waiter then told us that 3 courses means starters a main dish and a side dish (rice or nan). I said this wasn't clearly stated and questioned how a tiny starter a main and side could cost £60 for 2 people compared to their normal prices. They did not want to stand and talk and sent the manager over who said it's because they're so popular. I have eaten here before and there was nothing about this meal that I could justify paying over double the price for! Service was not great either. No little touches at all for NYE. What I also found strange was it was cash only making me question what they are doing with this extra profit. Will not return!

We no longer live in the area but travelled back to the kings repose because it had always been a favourite and we were celebrating an anniversary. The staff made us feel very special. The atmosphere was fantastic and the setting is great. The food was excellent and we had a lovely evening. Many thanks. We will make the trip back more often in future.

Great food! Prawn and shrimp dish I had was AMAZING! They made me very welcome, as I visited on my own. Situated perfectly for me as I am staying in the Hotel next door... its like having your own private 5 star kitchen. Will definitely return.

The Kings Repose is impressive from the building, to the friendliness of the staff and the fantastic food. We were made to feel more like family than customers. The food is cooked fresh to order ( we had prawns and fish) and it was wonderful, cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

Visited early October. Had booked table for 8.30 on a Saturday night. Arrived on time and was invited to get a drink from the bar. No problem. Requested 2 Cobra to which the barman barked £8.20, I asked if he start a tab. No, was the answer, it confuses us and we run the bar separately from the restaurant. Ok. Bought the beers. Then sat waiting until 9.15 to be seated! Food came quickly and was nothing special. Some staff downright rude (bar) plus our food went to wrong table (starters) and had to be retrieved from another table. I left feeling disgruntled. An apology was offered for the wait by the Manager. Please think about the amount of covers you book In on a Saturday. We were not the only ones that were effected. Sorry but will not return.

By the amount of times I eat here - with my husband and my girlfriends - I think we all rather like it!

I have now been serveral times since moving to the area. This curry house is by far the best curry house i have ever been too. Friendly approachable staff. A warm family welcome. Every meal myself, friends and family have had was cooked to perfection and even when busy their isnt a wait on food. This is my number one place to eat and it doubles up as the best takaway too. Second to this their prices are quiet fair and affordable as a speaical occation or as night in with the family.

Exceptional Indian dishes, served by friendly staff. Reasonable portions, except for rice. Not too pricey. Service was very slow 40 minutes from ordering sadly, when I queried this with the manager he was a bit abrupt and stated we cook everything from scratch so it is going to take a long time. It would be nice to be informed when you order. We still enjoyed our meal.

Our 2nd visit with friends. Can’t fault the food or the service. Just fabulous! the staff can’t do enough for you. They pay particular attention to how you would like your food cooked. One of the best Indians we have been to. Well done! Keep it up.

We seem to of celebrated lots of family birthdays here over the last 20 years or so. That’s because this restaurant does the absolute best Indian food we have ever eaten. Service is wonderful with attentive and helpful advice on menu, nothing is too much trouble. It is also incredible value for the quality received.

Siamo stati in questo ristorante indiano in tre coppie, l'ospitalità è stata molto cordiale ed accogliente, il personale amichevole e gentile, il cibo è risultato al dì sopra di ogni aspettativa sia per qualità che per preparazione e presentazione. Siamo tutti rimasti estremamente soddisfatti. Personalmente è già la quarta o quinta volta che ci ritorno, e sicuramente ci ritorneremo. Lo consiglio vivamente a tutti gli amanti della cucina indiana.

This great restaurant is set within a very quaint old house - which adds to the ambiance. The food was absolutely delicious - all served hot and at the same time to all 5 people. . Staff are SO helpful. The peshwary naan is the best.

Have not been to this restaurant for several years after bad experience on a weekend having to wait over 90mins for our table, but thought we would give it a go again midweek. Firstly one of the staff need training on customer service, they were definitely having an off night, although at the time only few customers were in. Not one smile. Food I felt was nothing special, have had better..Little concerned as next day have had bad stomach. The restaurant itself is in a nice setting, very different. We felt the lighting upstairs was quite dark, I like to see my food.

It's been a very long time since we last came here and were hoping for good things. It hasn't changed much but I guess that's its appeal. Or is it, I would suggest it needs a good clean and ye olde multi coloured faerie lights and flat screen TV don't quite fit in with the surroundings.

Food was OK, But the service was rude and unwelcoming, waited 30 minutes for the bill, when we asked what was the reason for the delay we were rudely told to go downstairs and pay it! We won't be coming back and I will not recommend this place purely on the unfriendly and disrespectful wait staffs attitude.

Great food couldn't fault it, tasty and delicious.

Went to the Kings Repose on friends recommendations, after we arrived 40 mins late the staff were very friendly & welcoming! We had drinks at the bar then where taken to our table, food was amazing we all had house special dishes with beautiful ingredients! with side dishes,house special nan bread is beautiful followed with desserts & wine! Service and staff was brilliant! Especially Misban!he made the night very enjoyable! Thankyou all for a amazing Saturday night out we will be returning! Xx

Went out with friends, first time visiting, cannot emphasise enough how lovely and helpful the staff were! They made recommendations and catered to all our needs, and the food we had in the end truly was amazing, so tasty! Will definitely go there again! :)

We visited this establishment with friends on their recommendation. The restaurant is in an old barn. Their is a seating area where you can sit while you wait for your table. The dining area is on the first floor. The menu is varied with many house specials. The restaurant is licensed with a range of lager ,wines & spirits. Two of us had the river prawns as I was told they were really large, We were disappointed as they were fairly average. The food was served promptly with pleasant staff, I did feel however that the meal was average.

We were staying at the hotel next door and popped in for a meal. Absolutely delicious, thoroughly recommended.

Quaint little place to visit for a curry, lovely atmosphere- IF you want to take your partner out for a curry and experience something different this is the place for you.

Clearly deservedly popular because it was packed on a Wednesday night even though it is in a very quiet location.
