We had coffee and cake here after a busy tour of the black and white villages. The homemade scone was delicious as was the aubergine and courgette cake! Coffee was good too! A lovely olde worlde building now a tea room/ restaurant that once was a pub. Definitely a place to go when in the village.

Close to the Townsend Touring site this timbered building provided us with a well cooked well presented Sunday Lunch. Slight downside in that dogs are allowed. Very happy to have dogs but am anti those that bark and demand food from the table. Apart from that a great place and thank you.

Our compliments are passed to all staff at ‘ King’s House’ who hosted our ‘ Old Guard Midget and Sprite’ buffet lunch in the classic and comfortable function room on Sunday 9th October lunchtime . The tables were beautifully presented and the buffet of sandwiches, olives and cakes plus hot drinks were much appreciated. I can thoroughly recommend the Rocky Road and the egg sandwiches. The staff provided good service and delicious food to me and the other old car drivers / navigators. Looking forward to future visits. We are delighted to have visited a unique independent business.

We were sorry when this was sold and are delighted that his has re-opened under new management. We looked at the new website and went for lunch this week. The menu is simple but plenty to choose from and the food quality is excellent. Our lunch was quite superb, atmosphere still great, service also. We have, as a result, booked Sunday Lunch (booking recommended) and look forward to this. We will be there for lunch before then as well. Thoroughly recommended.

Booked for 5 of us for Mothers Day yesterday. First visit. Had a beautiful dinner with so much choice. It was wonderful. Very pleasant surroundings and staff very attentive. We will be back. Want to visit again and try your Cream Tea!!

Booked Sunday lunch last week for my wife and I, regretfully my wife couldn't make it, so I went for lunch on my own On arrival I was greeted by friendly staff and shown to my table. I ordered the roast pork lunch. Lunch was very nice, vegetables fresh and tasty, pork was tender and moist. The only thing I would add and absolutely not enough to detract the 5 star rating, is that it would be nice if there were some ales on the drinks menu such as HPA. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Sunday lunch and I will definitely be back.

Have just returned from a lovely Sunday lunch at The King's House. The food was excellent and plentiful, with a wonderful selection of veg. We received a warm welcome with friendly and attentive service during our visit. Looking forward to returning in the near future

The waitress was lovely and extremely attentive. I have a folding scooter which was no bother and once we had finished our meals I was a little cold so she moved us in front of a lovely log burner. We noticed a group came in quite late but the chef came out and discussed what was available for them. A very old building, but the hospitality and quality of our food was brilliant! We will be back, for the Sunday lunch in particular.

Excellent food and good service. Very imaginative vegetarian dishes. The fresh vegetable parsnip dish was so moreish. The steak was perfectly cooked. We had an enjoyable meal and will return.

Staying down the road and pre-booked this Sunday lunch for 5th September. The welcome was great by the team and the roast was lovely with plenty of veg. Would highly recommend a visit if staying near Pembridge.

We went here to celebrate my dads 80th birthday as a party of 13. Right from booking this months ago Jan and Stuart were great sorting and personalising menus and making sure everything was just right. The food was delicious and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a lovely evening and would thoroughly recommend eating there. A great place!

We had the most lovely evening here with family and friends and turned up unexpected with hungry children. The restaurant managers couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating and were also flexible with the set menus, so items could be swapped. The food equally matched the impeccable service and was an absolutely delicious and wonderful fine dining, relaxed experience. I very rarely write reviews but so impressed it would have been an injustice not to. Thank you for making our evening amazing, we would most definitely return.

Anniversary meal whilst staying in the area. This looks like a popular venue so suggest booking if you can. Couldn't fault our meal or the service. Cosy atmosphere, staff all very good.

Very enjoyable dinner for four of us. Starters and main courses, all delicious. Only criticism was my friend had the sea bass which was yummy....but oh the potatoes!! tinned ? Why ? so easy these days to cook fresh new potatoes, don’t need scraping just a wash. The house white was excellent. A good meal for all. Would visit again when in the area.

We visited the restaurant last night and were greeted by a table with a selection of doggy treats. We (a couple and two little doggies) were greeted right away and shown to our table. The service can not be faulted here! The owners were extremely friendly and we felt at ease having the dogs with us. The food was absolutely delicious! The lamb shanks were cooked to perfection and the sauce complimented well.

Four of us had an evening meal at The Kings House. We all chose something different from the menu.. We didn't have to wait long before all meals were served at the same time. Vegetables delicious, feshly cooked, parsnips to die for. We all decided it was the best meal we had eaten in a long time. Not sure how much we paid but it was worth every penny. Try it.

My friend and I enjoyed venison casserole cooked in red wine with vegetables it was very tasty. I then had pear and ginger cheesecake with vanilla ice cream, my friend had maple and walnut ice cream which we enjoyed.

I was travelling with family including young adults & children when we called here into this beautiful black & white timber framed restaurant on the off chance of some lunch ( the owner Stuart informed us that it mainly an evening venue). Stuart was very attentive & accommodating to the picky eater in our party.

Four of us enjoyed a delicious lunch here on Sunday. We have spent the last three months visiting a different restaurant each Sunday to broaden our horizons. The Kings House is one of the best we have sampled thus far, which includes four and five star hotel restaurants in the West Midlands. The menu offered a good selection of starters, main course and dessert enjoyed with wine and followed by coffee. Everything is home made and was just delicious. I enjoyed pate, roast leg of pork with a delicious apricot stuffing, Delicious vegetables including real roast potatoes, and a delicious parsnip dauphinoise, carrots and greens with tasty gravy followed by chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. We were very well looked after by our servers Katie, Max and another young lady whose name I can't remember (sorry) and had a warm welcome from hosts Jan and Stuart. The restaurant was warm and comfortable with a lovely atmosphere in this beautiful thatched (17th century I think) building set in a lovely location on the high street. Ample car parking at the side of the building leading to the park. Well done all, we were all very impressed and cant wait to visit you again.

Wife and I decided to visit the Kings House for an evening meal. The restaurant is definitely up there with the best Herefordshire has to offer. The starter and main meals were very good, well cooked and the house wines are excellent along with the service. Thank you.

We called in here by chance hoping for a light meal. We enjoyed excellent food from a varied menu together with prompt and friendly service. The local ham was first class and eggs cooked exactly to order. Convenient parking available round the back of the restaurant.

Four of us visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening sometime ago and there was great atmosphere. However our return visit was on a Friday evening and it was somewhat quiet.

Delicious dinner, traditional British food. It feels like a pub, but it is a restaurant. The owners & staff were lovely. Inside, the owner had lots of antiques & books, all had a unique story behind them, including the old cameras on the window sill behind us. Very much enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere here. Our family has eaten here many,many times over the last few years and have never been disappointed with both the service and the food.

We were rather disappointed in Sunday Lunch as the reviews for all meals seemed good. However, for us it was just OK. The potatoes were awful just like the ones we had out of a tin years ago and no homemade yorkshire pudding here. I am afraid the treacle tart was dreadful. It was a sweet sticky mess, like a paste and did not resemble treacle tart at all. We would have liked to say that this meal was really good but I am afraid it will be our one and only visit as there are better places around.

Considering we live local neither my husband nor I have been to the Kings Head so we decided at the last minute to go after seeing previous reviews. We were met at the door by the owner who welcomed us and showed us to our table.

As local holiday accommodation owners we always recommend Kings House to our guests. The overall positive remarks from our guests echos our own experiences of a really good atmosphere and always a great selection of good quality foods. My husband likes the local bottled ales too.

I recently visited The King’s House with friends for my birthday celebrations. The warm welcome and service from both Stuart, Jan and other waitressing staff was amazing.

At short notice we visited the Kings House restaurant with a group of nearly 30 people. The landlord and landlady and the staff were very welcoming. They had two other groups there as well and coped most efficiently. The food was well presented. I have no hesitation in recommending this establishment.

Revisited and glad to see the food,service and value are as good as ever. The gregarious Stuart and Jan(now blonde!!)run a fab restaurant and no doubt we will return.

This is an excellent restaurant, meals reasonably priced but moreover the restauranteurs are definitely "people persons" & if they ever retired, they would be a great loss.

Me and my partner were glamping at Townsend Farm just up the road. We felt a bit too casual when we arrived but they assured us we weren't too casual and it definitely felt like they meant it! It was decorated very country like (as expected) and the food was beyond expectations. I had steak and ale pie, and my partner had a fillet steak. The vegetables accompanying these dishes were the best veggies we have had when eating out.It was obvious our custom was well appreciated and if we ever went glamping again I would definitely return! Popped in for an evening meal and we were very impressed. There is a large menu selection (including excellent vegetarian options) and the generous portions are really tasty. The hosts are welcoming and the atmosphere of the Kings House is warm and cosy.This is one of the best evening meals we have had and would not hesitate to recommend to others. We had dinner here this week. We'd not visited before. The menu said that the restaurant had been owned and run by the same couple since 2003. Whilst they are now doubt experienced in running a restaurant business, the place now needs to move forward. We dined on a Friday night. There were only two other tables occupied. The menu is huge. Too many dishes to concentrate on and prepare well. Most of our party started with the trio of prawns. This was simply three portions of defrosted run of the mill supermarket prawns covered in three different toppings. A bit of a disappointment at £7.50 each. For main course our party mainly chose fillets. The steaks were fine but unremarkable. Somehow the wow factor was missing. The presentation was very dated with the steaks swimming in a pool of creamy sauce. The vegetables, which were served separately, were bland and mushy. We didn't have puddings. Our bill came to £160 for four including wine and coffee. Not hugely expensive but not cheap either. We've had so much better elsewhere locally for similar cost. Overall our impressions were that we wouldn't go back. The people running the place are obviously experienced but they need to take a huge step forward in order to modernise their menu and presentation to bring things up to date. It's got the potential to be so much better. They seem to be still serving the meals they were serving when they took over in 2003. They were probably fine then but things have moved on and customers are expecting something more exciting now.

Visited this place with family today and the welcome was lovely.We all ordered food from the lunch menu and was not disappointed with the portion sizes. To our surprise the owner brought some more chips to us for free as she felt they had 'done us out of a good portion'.Would definitely recommend this place, and we would visit again in the future.

Had Sunday lunch today the food was excellent and the service first class will certainly visit again probably one of the best meals we have had out and my wife and I eat out quite a lot. Thank you to the staff, no doubt we will see you again soon.

Last weekend, (25th Feb 2017) my wife and I visited the King's House Restaurant with a group of 12 friends for a night out. We had never visited the venue before and were (as is often the case) anxious that our evening would be enjoyable.We need not have worried, from the moment of our arrival until the moment we left everything was of a VERY high standard.On arrival we were divested of our coats and shown to our tables. Unusually there was a small platter of hors-d’oeuvres which set the tone for the evening.We had pre-ordered our meals and informed the proprietor of who was ordering what, so that when each course was presented, the waiting staff called out each person's name so that their meal was taken directly to them rather than stand asking 'who ordered what'.I am a beer drinker and was a little surprised to note that there were no cask-conditioned ales on tap and that the beer (and cider) choice could be made from a display of bottles on the bar. I don't remember exactly what I ordered but it was nice. Later on I had a glass of the house merlot which was also very palatable.The end of the evening came all too quickly for me. I would loved to have stayed and chatted with the hosts and their staff. Although it was probably a one-off occasion for us as it is a long way from home, I would certainly visit again to sample more of what this restaurant has to offer.

We had our wedding breakfast at the kings house today what a amazing day they did for us.they helped us make the special day we had always dreamed of.They went that extra mile for us nothing was to much trouble. As a bride I felt I did ask a lot but Jan just did what I asked no quibble. Jan and Stuart and there team of staff were fantastic couldn't ask for a better place to have our wedding breakfast they were so attentive couldn't thankyou enough Veronica and Richard xx

As a couple we met up with relatives for Sunday lunch. Nothing special but enjoyable nevertheless. Pleasant staff made us very welcome. Food was typical Sunday lunch fare but none the worse for that. We will be happy to visit again.

Pleasant small family run restaurant using local produce. Exceptional food though wine list is limited though sufficient. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Well worth the visit and very reasonable prices for the standard of the cooking.

We had a pleasant meal here. My first observation was that the lighting was not good. We all looked more worn and tired than we might. Overhead lighting is not flattering and the little candle in oil made no light to speak of. Light should be warm and not white.The food was good in parts. My fillet steak was dry and I might have paid more for a dressing but, frankly, at the price I think it should have had a little gravy.The beef two of my friends ate had a gravy they thought not quite good enough for the meat.Nice place and not to be shunned for the food.

Called in on the off chance to get a table for Sunday Lunch. Was quite booked up, but the manager accommodated us and we were offered a lovely table by the window. The food was lovely, service was very good. There was a lot of history attached to the Kings House, which we found extremely interesting, and they also accommodate the MG Club. Pembridge is a very pretty and interesting place, steeped in history and well worth a visit.

We are staying in the village this week and I booked the restaurant for our first dinner. Excellent choice. I had the pork casserole and the meat was delicious. Good selection of veggies too. Can't fault the quality of the meal, or the friendly welcome and service. House red wine was 15 quid a bottle, which seemed fair.

Easily one of the best places I've been too. Food is top notch. Staff are very pleasant aswell. Honestly couldn't find a fault with the place definitely a 10 out of 10.

We were beginning our holiday in this lovely area on my husband's birthday so I had reserved a table in advance by e mail and received a prompt and friendly confirmation.We received a warm welcome from the owner who led us through to our table where there were some small appetisers already awaiting us. We ordered pre dinner drinks and studied the menu which was well presented and varied . We ordered starters - I had the trilogy of prawns which were delicious and my husband had the goats cheese which he really enjoyed. For our mains we ordered the Hereford fillet steak and the sea bass fillets both perfectly cooked . Sadly no room to sample the puddings but we had coffees to finish. Altogether a good experience. Traditional food well served in a friendly manner . Well done.

We were in Pembridge at the weekend with our rambling club and came here for our group meal. There were 31 of us, hungry, noisy ramblers in need of a good hearty dinner, and this place didn't disappoint! Family owned, with friendly and very efficient service, we highly recommend the King's House for tasty food. Will definitely head here next time we're in the area.

We had the pleasure of dining at the King's Head on Saturday evening (10th September 2016) - we held our annual camp weekend at the nearby Townsend Camping & Caravan Park, choosing The King's Head as our restaurant of choice for our group meal. We weren't disappointed! The courtesy bestowed upon us was superb, helpful and friendly. Naturally, we had a limited menu due to numbers but the food was excellent - there was an extensive wine list too and desserts to die for.Highly recommended and what a fantastic part of the world - superb for lovers of fine food and if you like Cider... say no more!Thank you to everyone involved.

This is by far the best restaurant that I have had the pleasure to eat at. Lovely greeting by the Owners and a fantastic choice of dishes on the Menu. From the time you enter the Restaurant until you leave it is very obvious that Stuart and Jan are true catering professionals. I chose this place as it was recommended by Juliet at Lowe Farm B&B and also based on other TA reviews. All I can say is go and try and you will be blown away with the quality and reasonable prices.

Went here with friends recently, drove past it many times but never been in. The owner is mad about Harley's and MG's so if you like these brands you are well in. Food was great, nothing pretentious about it, just great home cooked food cooked by the family. Place was not very busy when we were there but certainly this was an exception. A number of interesting artifacts and items are around the place to keep you amused and interested for conversation. Plenty of food so do not expect to leave feeling empty, real ales and wine available but nothing on draught.will be going to this place again soon

Ok, so here's the thing.....I'm a stickler for detail and booked this restaurant based on excellent reviews 8 months before my 50th birthday. On the day itself, I became panicked that I'd forgotten the booking time, so we arrived at 7.20pm (thinking it would be either 7.15 or 7.30pm). I felt our greeting was a little rude when we were told the booking was for 7pm, and the 8pm booking had just arrived. The greeter then remarked that given I'd commented on "military precision" in my email, he found it amusing that I was late. Making a guest feel uncomfortable in that way really wasn't a great start to the evening and was further impounded by my husband being congratulated with "happy birthday", when it was actually MY 50th!That aside, the rest of the evening was very enjoyable. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection, and the food and wine of a high standard and plentiful. Would definitely return.

We had the warmest of welcomes and a truly delicious meal, The proprietor and all of the staff were extremely attentive without being intrusive. Our meals were served very quickly and were very reasonably priced. We will definitely be recommending this establishment and returning soon.

We visited this restaurant on a recommendation for a birthday lunch and are we glad that we did!The staff, who obviously enjoyed their work, welcomed us and made the whole dining experience a real pleasure.The food was a delight from the roasts to the fish pie and the scrumptious puds, everything was perfect.It was a 45 minute drive from home but I would have travelled much further for this fare.I would highly recommend.( and all very reasonabley priced )

I had been intrigued by this restaurant ever since I visited Pembridge around 6 months ago.So when we were thinking of where to go for a meal out I decided to give this restaurant a try.The King's House is a beautiful black and white building, and the hosts are very friendly and accommodating. The menu is wide and varied to suit all tastes and pockets.My husband had the goats cheese starter whilst I decided to save myself for a dessert.For the main meal I had a daube of beef and my husband had the sea bass. Both were well cooked and delicious with a good selection of freshly cooked vegetables.We chose the house red which was a good full bodied merlot. We always feel you can tell a lot about an establishment by it's selection of house wine.I am glad I made room for the sweet as I chose the coffee meringue with chantilly cream-picture enclosed. It was amazing especially as it was drizzled with a lovely toffee sauce. All in all a delicious meal.We had a lovely anniversary meal with polite attentive staff, professional friendly hosts in one of the prettiest black and white villages in Herefordshire.

Called in last minute and hadn't booked but were able to accommodate us even though there was a large party there, food was wonderful and arrived quickly, my Husband had a fillet steak, blue, cooked to perfection, excellent food and portion size, Service was better than average very friendly staff and a nice chat with the cook to complement her, nice touches with the hand cream in the toilet. A little more expensive that your average pub grub but definitely worth it,would highly recommend.

I visited this restaurant with my husband on 24 June for an evening meal. We were greeted by the owner who was very friendly and accommodating. We ordered starters and a main . All the food was cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were very generous. The atmosphere was very comfortable and warm. Prices very reasonable. I would say this restaurant is more for an adult clientele as opposed to younger families. Definitely would visit again.

This is an absolute must. The informal greeting belied a professional approach to everything. From an interesting and varied menu all the dishes we chose were delightful with an attention to detail in every element (carrots cooked on orange and butter for example). It is refreshing when the person who is going to cook your food comes out to take your order ensuring personal requirements are fulfilled. The limited size (30 places) means they can cook your food fresh as and when you are ready. Make sure you book though or you may be very disappointed if you cannot get in. Even the bottled beers were superb. We will certainly be back

Went for lunch on my parents anniversary as we had a cottage nearby and had eaten there before. The food was excellent and my young dog was made very welcome. Only one thing, I ordered the goat cheese beetroot and walnut salad and having finished eating asked if the walnut element was walnut oil in the dressing? The chef then admitted that she had forgotten them and only realised when making the dish for other diners. However it did taste delicious. Perhaps the lack of a key ingredient could have been reflected in the price charged but it wasn'tWould still eat there again tho as it was only a minor niggle.
