The King’s Head in Richmond upon Thames

Went there for an earl dinner..the back room overlooking the garden is quite fancy and not very pub like. It feels more of a bobo spot rather than a pub. The big grill and the open kitchen are there to be seen and appreciated (and a clever marketing idea) as people will be treated by a nice grill dish which are also the most expensive ones. The quality of the food is lovely, but still nothing to write home about. Good wine menu with different options. The waiters are almost on the younger side, but very lovely and knowledgeable and will be able to help you with your questions. It is pricey. Be prepared for quite a hefty bill. Is it justified? Not too sure to be honest. Main course were lovely and we liked them, 2 steaks and a burger a caraffe of wine and 3 desserts around 100 pounds. Notable is the pistachio soufflé, while the flour less cake need a bit more umpf to keep up with rest of the flavours. Also not too hot of the rectangular dishes used to serve the steaks in. Not really nice looking and makes things look smaller (plus we were told not very handy for the waiters

We would not call this a dining experience, the menu for the virgin voucher was embarrassing. We were not allowed to order from the main menu and pay the difference. Therefore we didn’t use the voucher and ordered the steak which was ok but the salad was four baby salad leaves and some chips, the desserts ice cream and cheesecake were bland and poor. Overall and poor experience and won’t return. Harriet, it was not just the menu it was how it was handled, I have never been so embarrassed. People could quiet clearly here the waiter say oh you can’t have this menu. We felt we were not good enough and thats unacceptable. If you offer this experience then at least handle it a lot better. And either do a day where that’s the only menu or put both menu’s on the table or even ask as you book in so as the menu could be changed without the embarrassment and people as not put in this situation.

Really lovely staff who could not do enough to help and found my mother and I a nice table in the garden for lunch the sunshine . Good food and a lovely afternoon. Thank you to all the staff. James

Food is so delicious, the best in teddington, highly recommended! One thing to make visit more pleasant if you can move bicycle rack at least 2 meters to the left. It was such a task to park in a spot behind it, and if somebody park the bike after we won't be able to leave that parking place.

Had a wonderful time here for Easter Sunday. The food is great and the staff went the extra mile.

Just had a fantastic Easter roast dinner at The Kings Head in Teddington. First class service and the food was delicious. We had roast beef with all the trimmings and roasties, gravy and Yorkshire puds are all bottomless. Thanks Adam and Magda for the excellent service. We will be back!

DO not book if you are a large group. Even having given order previously waited 45 mins before any food and 40 mins between courses. Dreadful experience. Please be aware the restaurant CANNOT cope .

Absolutely lovely pub with delicious food, interesting menu options, and fantastic customer service. I've been here to celebrate an anniversary and a graduation and everything was impeccable both times. Highly recommended! I'm still dreaming about the delicious soufflés.

A group of us came for Sunday lunch today 24/03/24 the staff were Amazing so polite and attentive, great service but I'm afraid the Sunday lunch was poor, the Yorkshires old and cold and rubbery not fresh the vegetables cold and the gravy cold if you are serving a Sunday lunch at least serve it hot and Yorkshire's don't take that long to cook on the day to many places are serving pre cooked food then claiming it's fresh.

A last minute birthday treat for a dear friend who was entranced by the setting and enjoyed the small lunch she chose of fish soup and cheese soufflé- so was I.

We visited the venue for a midweek a la carte dinner- for a special celebration. As always- food is incredible-we have never had a bad meal at the restaurant. There was an offer of 2 for 1 on the Tuesday -for a range of wines/cocktail/and some spirits. This restaurant never lets us down-food is the best! Thank you to all at the King’s Head!

My son was choking and the waiter all he could do was to laugh.The fish was overcooked and the potatoes were raw in parts. I have been eating here for over 30 years, this is very disappointing and will not be returning.

We went there today, on Mother's Day and had no booking unfortunately. I guess, he was one of the manager, kindly helped us and gave the table which was only available 45 minutes. It was what we needed.. Lovely service, nice food.. But for us the most important thing is, I think his name was Simone, he tried his best to help. Before here we went somewhere local, one manager from the restaurant said you can sit on tbe pub side and can order. So we all settled down and went to bar to order, the other manager said, it is a mistake they don't serve food out of restaurant area??? We lost 15 minutes there for nothing. So Simone is the best, who knows customer satisfaction and also doing thevbest for the business as they can generate more money too:))

Always end up when visiting The Kings Head for a meal when visiting Teddington. The food is always fantastic and the service is great we always go during the quiet times as to get a table in the resturant.

Great family birthday dinner. The food was really excellent and superb service from all the staff. The decor and layout is very welcoming. This gastro pub is a cut above most I have been in. Well worth a visit and we will go again

My husband and I went here for a Valentine's Lunch - part of our Golden Wedding celebrations for this year (we married in 1974) The venue and food were superb. The wine was a bit pricey.

Fab pub, we had Friday dinner in the restaurant but pub front also booked up for dinner. Everything was top pub food, good servive and just a good feel all round. We are coming back to Teddington to do Bushy Pk park run and definately coming back here.

Rollercoaster is not the word, more like great food, beer, and service. No sign of the King, nor his head. Went with my friend, Dave Suitcase, and he drank loads of beer.

Beware very, very poor allergy information on the menu. I tasted my friend's pistachio soufflé and to my horror realised too late that it contained cocoa at the bottom of the dish. I am allergic to cocoa which causes severe migraines. It's a common allergen and should be clearly indicated on the menu.

Superb veggie roast. Best pub food I’ve eaten in ages. Recommend - lovely delicate flavours in every part of the meal. . Will definitely go back soon.

No longer serving their lovely Wednesday night steak menu. We got steaks anyway but were extremely surprised with how overcooked they arrived. The staff acknowledged this and replaced them. Unfortunately, they still didn’t meet our expectations based on previous experiences here.

It was good to start the New Year in the cosy renovated Victorian pub that is the King’s Head in the sleepy suburb of Teddington. It is part of the olde English gastropub empire of Raymond Blanc whose menus have long since fused no doubt on the grounds of economy and efficiency either those at his brasseries. There was a 50% discount on mains for the whole of January which felt like a belated Christmas present of the likes of smoked pork ribeye, beef burger on a brioche bun preceded by a cheese soufflé (so popular are these that barely a table missed at least one order) or an equally retro prawn and crayfish cocktail. A treat to bring in the New Year.

We booked for a family lunch on a busy Saturday. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food better than the average pub grub. No complaints and we will definitely return.

This is a lovely restaurant which I make a point of visiting every time I am in Teddington visiting my sister Berna. The decor is very nice without being overstated. The staff are professional and friendly & I have never had a mediocre meal here. The manager Harriet is second to none & makes sure everything is 1st class for all the guests. On my recent visit, we returned after doing some shopping to order a taxi and a container of cream broke in our shopping bag & leaked all over the floor. Elliot, the bar tender went over and above the call of duty to help us clean up the mess and downplayed our embarrassment in the nicest way. We will be back minus the drama.. Thank you so much for a lovely visit yet again. I recommend making a reservation.

Considering how good the Kings Head used to be, my birthday lunch yesterday was a sad experience. While the food was adequate (although my sausages were tough as old boots - reheated ?) the service was appallingly slow and we had to remind the staff to bring things - when we managed to catch the waiter's eye. No excuses please that "the kitchen was busy". There were only three tables occupied in the back room as we ordered. This was our second meal there in two weeks, and it was much the same last time. Not happy.

Fantastic night as usual, staff are so pleasant and friendly and as for the food outstanding. You really can’t beat a good night out in the Kings Head. Not forgetting the great wine selection.

Pleasant atmosphere though noisy table nearby a bit intrusive. Food good. Drinks excellent and fairly priced. Service very good.

The atmosphere of which is like a family living room is comforting and is complemented by excellent customer service a must visit spot in Teddington.

Highly recommend the 3 course Christmas menu - a large group of us had a variety of dishes and enjoyed everything. I also recommend their usual menu. I’ve dined here many times before and have tried lots of dishes; none of them have disappointed. I wish I had taken photos of the meals I have had, but I end up eating them before I remember because they look and taste great!

Ordered the half a chicken, got 1/3rd of a chicken 🐔 two carrots and mash. Quite annoyed, but wasn't appropriate to complain qhilst at a birthday lunch

Nice atmosphere and service in the restaurant, but aggressively overpriced for what it is, tbh. Bar area a bit cramped but the tent outside is good.

A really great experience. A gluten-free friend came along with us for Sunday lunch and I had pre booked with the notes that she mustn't have contact with gluten. The staff and kitchen staff went above and beyond in making sure she was safe and she was thoroughly impressed with the service and food. The rest of us also enjoyed the meal and it was lovely to show our friends a lovely little pub in Teddington

Having not visited for a few years will now visit regularly. The Sunday roast was delicious, excellent wines and outstanding customer service led by Harriet. Could not fault any aspect of this wonderful experience. Thanks to all and everyone.

Really lovely place, great quality food and brilliant service from friendly and attentive staff. Meze starter was delicious, duck and salmon mains great and pistachio sorbet amazing. Good size portions and reasonable prices. Nice garden at back too. Have now been back several times and can highly recommend. Set menu is great value.

A real dump.They still hide behind the "Pierre Marco" facade but food well below the standards expected for their prices. Sea Bass was off, Salmon overcooked and dry, and a replacement order of Hot Smoked Salmon, consited of a 2 inches piece of fresh salmon heated in a mircrowave or grill, and garnishd with some coulis of vegetables, really scandalous. When I pointed that the menu was grossly misleading and what I was served was a far cry from what the menu stated, I was given a lecture on semantics, i.e that it was salmon and it was hot, odd. Anyway the place has gone down in quality and service while prices have gone up. A very disapointing experience and we left with basically an empty stomach after having paid £ 61, and after we had a nibble on some frozen chips. Shameful

We had dinner here and the food was excellent. We had the sausage salad, the beef pie and sticky pudding. All delicious. The service was excellent with great recommendations. There also is an excellent selection of wines.

Elisabeth was an excellent dining room attendant. Her knowledge of the menu was impeccable, resulting in an exceptional recommendation for the lamb roulade. The Dauphinoise potato was to die for! To top off a fantastic meal the sticky toffee pudding really hit the spot. An all round great experience and the place to be on a Wednesday evening. Highly recommend

We spent a lovely evening here. The food was excellent. Restaurants often focus on pleasing either vegetarians/vegans or meet lovers. This pub pleases everyone. While there are fewer veggie options than meat/fish once, the proposed dishes are highly curated and not an afterthought as in many other places. As starter we had the baked chestnut mushrooms followed by the herb-crusted lamb roulade and the halloumi burger. We ended the evening with the sticky toffee pudding. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere relaxed and joyful. We will definitely visit again.

I can highly recommend. Service staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely 1st class and the venue itself was very clean, tidy and nicely decorated. Parking was no problem, although this on high street or small car a few mins walk away. 🍽🥧

EDITED: Because of this place's cashless policy, I am essentially banned from even being a customer at this pub. I cannot use a debit card due to a disability in my hands and can only get cash out with my Nationwide passbook. This pub doesn't really seem to be inclusive to those with certain disabilities. Even writing this review is a struggle to me. In response to the owner: Your reply doesn't really make any sense. "We would never refuse to take cash". But you are refusing cash. Plain and simple. Covid is no excuse to justify all this. The pandemic was three years ago. We're past that now. Most places that went cashless at the time have now resumed taking cash so I really don't know why you won't follow suit. Also, what security concerns exactly? Your main concern should be the hope that your card readers and phone lines don't fail or the bank servers crash. Then what? You have no backup plan when a scenario like that does happen. As the old saying goes: Cash is king.

This is the stand out pub/restaurant in the area. The quality of the food matched by the reasonableness of the price makes it unbeateable.

From the start the welcome was wonderful. Waitress was charming, efficient and caring. Food was exceptional, the choice was difficult because so much appealed. Our friends had travelled from Orpington and were very impressed, they can't wait to come again to make another choice from...

Came here with the good lady, roasts had finished so we had the beef rib? Amazing is an understatement, definitely will come here again and what a great team running it, even with the rugby on it was a very pleasant place to be

I chose the King's Head because it had a good selection of dishes on the menu. It was particularly pleasant sitting outside and there were plenty of umbrellas providing shade.

1st time here dog friendly. Had roast beef and all the trimmings. Beef was lovely and tender. You could also ask for more veggies. Will be back.

£1.95 for half pint of soda water from the fountain. Bar staff clueless for anything other than a pint. Better pubs literally next door.

This place refused to accept cash as payment. Our last time here. Three adults and two children. --- Follow-up response to the pub: as an inclusive public venue, I assume you are, you should be setting an example and accept cash and not use "security risks" concern as poor excuse. You have to understand that your behavior is a form of discrimination.

Woke - Cashless - Plastic pub for plastic people. They actually will NOT accept LEGAL CASH payments. They don't accept the currency of the UK. Won't ever go back to this Anti British plastic pub.
