Cote Brasserie - Richmond in Richmond upon Thames

The food here always delivers. Some dishes are very rich so if you are looking for a filling and a bit indulgent meal this is the one. Highly recommend the beef cheek bourguignon! It’s a great baby friendly restaurant, with easy access changing facilities and incredibly lovely staff.

Good food, the service could have been better

I was craving to have my filet steak on the table outside, I just feel like it and I have a taste for nice Cote filet. I was asked to wait 15 minutes even two tables on the front of the restaurant were empty. Very weird. I did resign after 20 min and change my mind. Too bad.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance at Cote. Reuniting with a long-lost friend made the experience even more memorable. However, we felt slightly pressured by the frequent inquiries about our readiness to order, despite needing a bit more time to decide. Nonetheless, overall, we had a pleasant evening. Chris and Amber , our servers, provided excellent service.

I have been going to Cote since it opened. I made the mistake of ordering a meal from them via Deliveroo today for myself and my 98 year old mother. It was disgraceful. The steak was rare instead of medium, the frites were hard and only one portion instead of two. No garlic butter and the Breton chicken was dry. The entire meal was nearly two hours late and arrived squashed and cold. We did receive an unordered congealed onion gravy which was only worthy of the bin. Absolutely dreadful. The only thing worth eating was the Apple Tarte Tatin No wonder your ratings have gone down. And I notice hygiene rating too. Not good. The whole meal should have been refunded! What on earth has happened to this restaurant?

Oh dear oh dear oh dear! The food has really failed this restaurant. Raw steak, cold sauce, tomato salad that had been roughly chopped, dirty plates and cold chocolate fondant .... we have been going for years but over the last couple of years the quality on all fronts has dropped .... such a shame so many amazing memories from yester year before the refurbishment and change of menu. That is likely our last visit

Had overcooked eggs on eggs benedict, staff sorted it immediately, nothing too much trouble, highly recommend

Went on Sunday night, food was great, service was outstanding and efficient. The steak frites was great, but the chocolate dessert was even better. Waiter was efficient and was very attentive.

Often visit when going to watch England rugby at Twickenham. Always impressed how the team at Richmond deal with what must be a crazily busy and stressful day. The ladies stood outside the door in thick coats to protect from the cold should get a special mention as they were managing to greet customers superbly and also let others know politely that if they hadn't booked there was no chance of a table! The lady who I assume was the manager was v visible not only going around all the tables to make sure customers were ok but that all the staff were fine too. Which was an impressive touch. Interactions with other members of staff whilst we were there also suggested the place has a happy, motivated, friendly and well managed team. Impressive!

A brilliant team in Richmond who must have had a long weekend by the time we visited yet everyone was enthusiastic, welcoming and on top form from the kitchen to front of house. The food was perfectly cooked and delicious - a lovely Mothers' Day meal for my wife and the family.

Always excellent food at this branch, cooked to perfection with attentive and friendly service. Only slight criticism was that the portion sizes of the french onion soup were smaller than on previous occasions.

Unfortunately we had a poor experience at Cote this March 2024. The service was poor and slow. We were asked what we wanted to drink before we were seated at our table, we had to wait over 20 minutes to order our food, no one asked how the food was, either during the meal or when we were paying. We weren’t offered a pudding menu or extra drinks despite waiting 35 minutes after our plates were cleared. My partner’s steak was rare (asked for medium rare), he wasn’t given a steak knife, and the food in general was over priced. We don’t plan on returning. The only positive element of our meal was that the fish pie is gluten free.

I am yet to visit a cote I do not like. The food was great, service excellent and atmosphere is warm and welcoming. They were very careful with my child's allergies and I was very pleased with that.

Came here for Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend. Was served by Florence who was very lovely and smiley despite the busyness of the restaurant. Really enjoyed our evening and the food too.

One of my favourites in Richmond - always accommodating & pleasant. Lovely food, menu options and always leave a happy customer. Great for a lunch break, dinner or weekend treat!

Finding a consistent standard across various branches of Cote proves challenging. Even within the same branch, the potential for variations in food quality exists upon subsequent orders. The ambiance is satisfactory, and the staff is amicable.

One of the best places for real calamari.

Prices have gone up and the quality of the food has gone down. My tuna in my tuna nicoise salad was over cooked on different occasions.

Wonderful place! Food was excellent! I was afraid I couldn’t eat if I didn’t want bread - but I was totally wrong! They had a whole gluten free menu - which was actually just the food items that are gluten free from the main menu. And there were plenty! Also, had an earl grey tea and it was unusually delicious. I loved that it came in a big tea pot :) My husband and I both had something from the Alpine menu which was delicious! Like WOW yummy.

Our waitress Marta did an amazing job and really helped me with my challenging dietary requirements! 10/10

Very good restaurant with really friendly and helpful staff. The menu is wide-ranging and the slow-cooked beef is fabulous. The potato gratin was good. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant and you can definitely spend a lot of time here. Unfortunately, the dessert wasn't quite my taste

Cote, you have really upped your game with the veggie offerings. The mushroom bourginon is to die for! Dessert wasn't bad either and the waiters were fabulous. Really friendly and helpful.

Caring and being attentive has become a rare commodity in Richmond especially from «chains», whereas Cote’s team are proud to offer good service and great food!

👎🏻 we had the pleasure of spending £120 on a below average meal. I would have had a better time at the five guys next door. Both our meals were tasteless and dry. My steak was about 5mm thick, overcooked, flavourless and they forgot the sauce. Nothing stood out as good. The onion soup was ok. The staff were lovely but seemed over worked and stressed. I can’t get my head around how restaurants like this think it’s ok to serve food like that and charge what they charge.

We were a large and demanding party and its not easy to keep track of extra hot decaf coffees, sourdough instead a toast, sauce on the side, ice or no ice and on top of that we managed to pull a table apart spilling drinks all over the place. And you still maintained a friendly and helpful service. Tis the season to be jolly! Thank you.

We had a lovely meal at Richmond cote with our children, we were served by Kabir and the team and the food was served quick and warm. A lovely Experience we will come back

The staff were friendly and the food was good. But I was served regular butter with the vegan brunch. I understand this could be a one-time thing but it shouldn’t have happened.

We are from Singapore and enjoyed our breakfast in a very relaxing atmosphere.

**Update** - 29th Oct 23 Awful food experience. We came for a double birthday lunch and ordered the Sunday sharing menu. The steak was overdone, the vegetables grey and wilted. Pathetic food. That said, our server couldn't have been nicer and more apologetic. The manager offered nothing while we're waiting for the food to be remade. Shockingly bad. I'm not surprised Megan's over the road is taking their customers. -------------------------------------------------- I've been going to Richmond Cote for 15+ years, always good standard and reasonably priced. We went for lunch today and the beetroot salad starter is new on the menu and really fabulous flavours. That said, I didn't taste the goat cheese curd and there could've been a few more hazelnuts hence 4 stars. On the whole, a trusted favourite.

The new fast food version of French food. Me and my boyfriend are huge fan of French food, however we could tell the management at Côte is more interested about profits than quality. I went for the 2 course set menu and I wish I knew it had such tiny portions before ordering it, it could easily be a kids menu anywhere else! The charcuterie board comes with very little meat…almost none…the two extremely thinly sliced pieces of meat were unnecessary all spread out on the board to clearly show customers they know they are taking the piss. Steak frites was even more disappointing, it arrived seconds after we finished our starters and even before the waiter could give us our cutlery… so we just sat there with our mains getting cold… I could immediately tell the steak was left to wait under the pass as it arrived with the butter already all melted. The rocket might’ve also been left under the pass’s heat as the top leaves turned dark. No real sauce to come with it, very different from the authentic French dish. My boyfriend chose from à la carte menu and ordered French onion soup for starter. We told our server we wanted to share our starters upon ordering, yet she didn’t bother to bring us sharing plates nor an extra spoon.The bowl of soup arrived half empty, the croutons were soggy and it overall tasted vinegary/acidic rather than having a rich deep traditional broth flavour. Pictures online show a full bowl with nice melted cheese on top ( starter not main!) For main, he went for beef bourguignon… which should’ve been called “mash bourguignon”… what he got was a huge portion of mash potatoes floating on salty gravy and four small pieces of cubed meat. The dish was overall too salty and unbalanced… paying almost £20 for mash and gravy is insulting. We have then asked for some bread to eat with our main as we were honestly still very hungry, we’ve asked twice and it still took ages for it to arrive. Even the waitress noticed and had to remind the kitchen a third time. Staff was overall inattentive and when we complained about our food, our waitress literally said “ yeah you are right” with a smile and left. We could see them looking at us all through with annoyed faces. That didn’t make us feel good at all about spending our money there. We didn’t even want to order dessert and a glass of champagne after that underwhelming meal. Advice to management, if you are offering a set menu, make it decent or don’t offer it all. Advice to staff, if you agree the costumer’s complaints are valid, don’t then just act annoyed at the back.. we could see you xx

Frankly bowled over with what we had for the price! I had the fish, which was cooked to perfection, came with 3 other veg and a superb sauce, all done beautifully. I had the same meal last week in a more similar other chain, and this from Cote was IN A DIFFERENT LEAUGE! (And was slightly cheaper. Desserts were also to the same standard, prepared on site, not brought in as so many chains do. Both my wife and I were really impressed!! Keep it up people!!

Professional but not intrusive service with a smile, just what we appreciated. Laimonas was friendly, helpful and his colleagues were efficient and nice too!

Our lunch with friends was politely served, delicious, compliments to all involved with the service and food preparation.

It's cramp, noisy, and lack of air ventilation. The food was great, and the service was attentive. Just can not have a decent conversation without raising the voice.

Had a lovely meal Sunday evening the staff were excellent 5* the food was beautiful and we felt very looked after will return again when back in Richmond (I am sure it won’t be long!!)

The best Cote branch. It is our place to meet with girls, and to come with family. Always excellent service, friendly, but not overwhelming. Food is lovely and they frequently update the menu. Nice summer cocktails, especially the melon one.

Absolutely disastrous. For the asking price the quality is not there, the presentation even less and the staff is not professional. Unacceptable.

Not the food it once was also you may not get all items on the menu which supposedly come with your meal. Good staff and location but if you're hungry look elsewhere.

Friendly staff, reliable food, nice rose wine

Brought a friend from Malaysia a couple weeks ago. Food was amazing, I had the Breton Fish Stew that comes with very tasty sauce. My friend had the confit pork belly. We also shared a Charcuterie board, love the meat! The restaurant is children friendly too, made it a lot easier for me.

Lunch for four went well. Haf had a pleasant experience whilst the other half did not and were not satisfied with their Tuna Nicoise choice.

Consistently good. Pls add another vegan / wholeplant-based main dish to the menu. Burger does not count and squash taboule alone is not enough.

All three of the staff who served us were very friendly and attentive throughout the visit. 3 course set menu was great value and delicious food. They asked about food intolerances at the beginning and then brought me a gluten free menu including the set menu GF options which is unusual and very much appreciated 👍. Great meal and happily recommend eating here again.

Words cannot adequately convey the sheer disappointment I experienced. The meal I had there stands out as one of the worst culinary disasters I’ve encountered in quite some time. Even hours later, I am still feeling sick to my stomach.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner...food quality was great and selection of wines was fab! Only negative was that the food came out very quickly, and didn't give us a chance to digest!!

Had dinner, my friend ordered the steak tartare to begin then had the duck while I had the steak frites. Service was fine with us, but the waitress dropped drinks on the couple sitting next to us (the poor lady got an unexpected shower of what looked to be a glass of champagne. My friend was extremely ill a few hours later with food poisoning, which could've only been from the duck or the steak tartare. Luckily I didn't try either so I was fine.

When we went for an early dinner I was surprised by how quiet it was. We enjoy a lovely meal and the waiters where friendly and attentive.

I know it's a chain but it's a great example of how the right management and staff can make a brand stand out. From the welcome at the door through to paying the bill, they actually make you feel like they care. The food was excellent and portions more than adequate. Highly recommended and not expensive.

The food was amazing, so nice. Though don't get much for the money, I was still hungry afterward. Service was brilliant, our waitress (Ruby) was attentive, on the ball, and helpful.

Great place to meet with friends

As a person who enjoys the Cote Barnes, this was completely different. Really poor service, only seemed bothered about getting orders done and getting people out. Fish stew was bland and tired. This is normally good. The bread was very burnt. Thats unacceptable for a restaurant. Tuna steak overdone and then you get a bill of over £150 Inc service which you never got. Love the Cote brand but this place is a shame on the brand. Considering I go to the one in Barnes once a month, I would never go back based on this shocking experience

Decent food. Service was a bit rushed and they seemed overran. Was a good level you’d expect from Cote. Business and stressed waiters put a slight dampner on vibe but still a good time

The food was decent, I really enjoyed the chicken liver parfait with fig compote.

Yet another disappointing meal at Cote, which used to be our favourite. The pan fried salmon was promised wirb asparagus and sapphire. Only a few short pieces of asparagus (maybe only two heads) and a minute amount of samphire, cut into 1inch long pieces. Hardly a garnish. Cote ate saving money on ingredients to keep prices down, but that really doesn't work.

Had a lovely meal here tonight with some friends pre coronation. Ben your waiter was exceptional. He chose Our desserts and cheeses and he made excellent choices for us. Thank you to Ben and all the other staff.

Went there for dessert, the staff were great and the caramel tart was amazing. Highly recommended.

Went for brunch but unfortunately the poached eggs on avocado were cooked right through and didn't have the expected soft centre. The same happened with everyone else's poached eggs at the table. If you can cook poached eggs properly at home you'd expect it at a restaurant.

The team were great and efficient. We had a large party and they did a wonderful job serving the drinks and food so that no one waited for long. They looked after us so well and after finding out it was the day after our wedding, treated us and congratulated us which was a lovely surprise. We came for my wife's birthday, my wife had calamari for starters not hot I had pate nice but the portion was a lot smaller than the one I had in Canterbury same price but smaller, mains Ribeye asked for rare got out of the fridge on the plate the pork and cabbage cold, being a chef for over 30 years I know things change but if your Chefs if they are qualified to be called chefs can't even cook a steak or heat up a vacuum pack piece of pork in sauce you have problems everything now a days is delivered not really any cooking involved. If you disagree with me would you agree for me to over look a evening session ? many thanks.

Generally this place is amazing. A Lithuanian Person named Laimonas was incredibly helpful. Give this man a raise. The steak was the best thing I ever tasted. The place also looks beautiful. 😀👍

Lovely breakfast for mothers day

We visited Côte in Richmond for breakfast choosing the champagne breakfast with the full English. The champagne arrived shortly after ordering and the food came surprisingly quickly after this. But both the bacon and sausage for both of us was a bit tough and dry so seems it had been just stored in an oven waiting to be served so really not that fresh. I would expect more of a breakfast at that price.

Great food and value for money as always. But was so pleasantly surprised with the prompt and perfect service on Mothers day, given how busy they were. Special thanks to Adina who helped us have a larger table last minute, making it possible to celebrate together with our friends. Thank you!
