The Kings Head in Malvern Hills

We eat out every Sunday throughout Worcestershire and the Cotswolds.and this was by far the most superior roast we've ever had. Landlady Alison was just lovely, even lighting the log burner for us. Barman Thanusha is always smiling and friendly and can't do enough to ensure you have a good experience. Lastly, shout out for the Chef whose roast beef was perfect (nicely pink) and amazing gravy, cauliflower cheese and just incredible carrot and swede mash. This place is so good we ought not to be praising it in case we can't get a table next time!

Can't understand what this place thinks it's offering customers but they've clearly got it wrong... A miserable bar with miserable staff and random opening hours... Food... What food!!!

Great location, particularly when the sun's out. Plenty of wooden benches overlooking the river. Can't help but think with a decent refurb it could be a great pub. Would need a lot spent on it though. It's tired looking. Felt the empties could have been collected up occasionally, too. Didn't try food but looked like standard pub grub. Beer was fine.

Good for ale, but the place lacks ambience and really has no atmosphere unlike some of the other pubs nearby. The outside seating area by the river is better to sit and have your drinks than inside especially if the weather is nice. It could be a nice place if the bigger room inside was cosier. It is a big space and just does not feel homely or cosy. Given the correct interior design it has the potential to look and feel so much better. The service from the staff is very good that is the one good thing about the place. Food is mediocre compared to its competitors nearby.

Quick pint in the sunshine garden next to the river. Inside was quiet as the sun was shining but the beer garden was buzzing.

Could be such a special place . The only bar really that has river views . We visited the outdoor beer garden on three consecutive days and it was unacceptably dirty . Same tissues, beer mats , condiment packets all littered around the edges of the area . Cigarette ends everywhere .The whole floor area of the outdoor area was very dirty Clearly an easy job with a dustpan and brush but no attempt at cleaning . Heard lots of comments from people about the state of the outside area

Friendly staff. Drinking a few beers here. Beautiful view on the Severn river. Dogs are very welcome. There was water and drinking naps on the terrace for the dogs.

I ordered 2 bacon sandwiches with a coffee and a cake. Shortly after a table of 10 came in and they also ordered bacon sandwiches. They proceeded to give the table of 10 all their sandwiches 2 at a time before serving us ours. Ontop of that I told them several times as they were doing this that we were waiting and ordered first. We were then given one sandwich at a time after a young chap gave our other sandwich to the wrong table, How difficult is it to serve up 2 together. Then the sandwich turned up greasy and they had not even bothered to slice it in half. Horrible food horrible service. Incompetent staff ridiculous service

Smashing pub. Best landlady who really goes the extra mile. Lovely friendly service. Lovely roast, big group all got our food super quick at the same time. The head chef even came & did own table check which was super cool. They had a lovely vegetarian Wellington. Beautiful setting with a garden right on the river Severn. Well worth a trip to the town. Thank you again

Popped in on a busy weekend, service and ale very good

This is probably the worst meal I’ve ever had! We ordered a burger and a quiche. The burger was in a bun that had mould on it and the pastry on the quiche was not cooked. The quiche actually resembled a pizza. So disappointing. Although we were given a refund when we pointed out the mould on the burger bun we would never go back there.

Called in while on a surprise trip to Upton and was welcomed straight away, lovely friendly staff, lovely place to relax and have a drink.

Horrible place...stained carpets and the food was awful. fish and chips tiny and all batter no fish ! The staff were lovely but will never go there again

Just popped in cus I was visiting in laws in Upton and it was the jazz festival so thought it might be a good atmosphere but it was dead, I hate jazz but didn't actually hear any jazz being played so that was a bonus! The King's Head is in a nice spot right by the river with seating outside. Guinness was nice but served in a plastic glass I suppose because it was a festival and people drinking outside

We, two families arrived here for their Sunday lunch. They were accommodating to provide a meal not the menu. When the food started to arrived it was very staggered and we had to request our missing vegetables which is one of the shared platter type. The second family then also had to request theirs when it didn’t arrive but after 10 minutes had to go inside to request again. Once the request was made they must have thought he had left as they started to call him a liar. Very unprofessional, as though we would be after extra vegetables. Left a bitter taste in our mouths and wouldn’t return

Went for Sunday lunch and one of us was served a very ropey piece of meat. Mentioned this to the chap who brought our plates out who giggled nervously, went back into the kitchen and we never saw him again. Showed it to someone else who agreed that dish should never have left the kitchen but that was the last of the meat so there was no option to change it. We appeared to be the only customers in the whole place for the hour we were there even though it was Sunday lunchtime.

Went here for a drink, but did not notice if food was available, good service and location, worth a look

The most popular pub in Upton I'd say, a local favourite for drink selection and food. Seating is great with river access.

We visited the pub as a family on Friday afternoon for lunch, when my son in law was suddenly took ill. I would like to thank the staff for all their help, they were amazing. We all had a lovely meal at a really good price & we would visit again.

Good service an food, good value for money, can’t fault any of this, but what’s with the outside seating area. Clearly had been swept into piles of fagbuts etc an then just left?! Why not pick it up? Looked awful, that said food was good.

Food looks great and we’ll priced but we only had time for a Butty Bach beer. We will definitely return for a meal when we have more time.

Stopped by chance here and 6 of us had a delicious Sunday roast, all home made with fresh veg, and fruit picked from their garden made into crumble for dessert. Excellent friendly service and very reasonably price, also fantastic destination alongside the river! Definitely would recommend a visit here!!

Fantastic Sunday lunch very big portions, we were sad we couldn't eat more. The staff were lovely, all smiles. This is the kind of place that makes a holiday.

Great Sunday lunch, medium roast striploin, beef dripping potatoes a real treat, just like grandma use to make.

Absolutely fabulous Sunday lunch . We all had the beef and it was cooked perfectly , lovely veg, delicious gravy and amazing Yorkshire puds . Puds lovely too . Will definitely be back .

Unfortunately it was a very good friends funeral that we attended but saying that the Kings Head was a really nice place. The food was delicious the bar staff very friendly and helpful I'm sure we will visit again hopefully under different circumstances

Came for breakfast during mello, terrible rude service. Breakfast was awful bunrt bacon and cold toast. They took a long time to bring toast out it was freezing cold, tea was. Very watery and coffee took a terrible long time to come out. Lady behind the bar was very rude and disrespectful to thd point she touched the toast with her dirty hands she had put on the table. No spoon was given fof the coffee as she walked off and dropped it didn't bring another over. Really terrible experience and rude staff. Very unhappy with the money wasted here. I understand they are busy but id rather wait longer so so rude

The two of us enjoyed a delightful seafood salad for lunch with a bowl of chips in a pleasant riverside courtyard. Friendly staff, prompt service and very decent prices. We will definitely be going back.

What a lovely pub. It wasn't very busy when we visited but had a lovely friendly atmosphere and the food was great. We will definitely be coming back for more!

Visited today on the way home from Tewkesbury and it happened to be the village folk festival. Despite it being very busy, the staff were extremely accommodating in managing to get a table set up for us. They are very dog friendly and our pup loved having a fuss from the staff. My son was also very happy having new people make a fuss of him too. The food was excellent and we cannot recommend the cheeseburger or the venison sausages enough! The cheeseburger in particular was thoroughly enjoyed. The prices are excellent value - £9 for a freshly made, very good quality cheeseburger, chips and salad, and equally priced venison, mash and gravy, and (freshly cooked honey roast) ham egg and chips. We would 100% recommend and we will be returning in the future.

We visited today for Sunday lunch. The pub is under new management and everyone was very friendly and keen to please. The roast beef was cooked pink, just how we like it. All the vegetables were cooked just right and were delicious. Although this was a generous helping and we were quite full, I managed to squeeze in a delicious apple crumble and custard. The crumble was tasty and crunchy and there was plenty of apple. As the weather was cool for the time of year, there was a welcoming fire in the pub. For a warmer day, there is a large sun terrace overlooking the river.

Friendly staff, lovely Riverside location with tables overlooking the River Severn, also just outside and inside the pub. We called in for morning coffee and were tempted by a slice of cake too.

Excellent service, friendly staff who went above and beyond, great value for money, tasty food and a scrumptious tub of Bennett’s ice cream to finish whilst overlooking the river river Severn, can’t wait to try the Xmas menu in December again a bargain at £20 for 2 courses or £25 for 3 courses

Very nice outside and in. Good service by very busy lady behind the bar. Coffee and cake were excellent. The interior was very interesting. Today I had the delicious vegan 3 bean chilli with jumbo chips and salad. The barman was very funny. He had everybody giggling.

Well this is a really nice place, Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere, they had the music festival on in upton upon severn and was busy but the staff were still very good, Have a really lovely seating area outside next to the river and one behind the pub, they even do doggy ice-cream to help them keep cool, plenty of seating inside also, I would go here again and recommend, Upton Upon Severn is also a beautiful little place with lovely shops and it's interesting, has a museum called the tudor house and places to sit by the river

Was very disappointed with the lunch we had, appreciate it was a limited menu at the time. We had scampi and chips and both tasted as if they were cooked in old cooking oil.

Came here for lunch today, ate in a lovely outdoor seating area. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was lovely and portions were more than decent. Discussed my youngest child's food allergies and I felt comfortable with ordering food for her. Was glad we popped in.

Lovely dog friendly pub serving possibly the best pint of Butty Bach I have tasted. Friends recommend Weston's Vintage Cider if you're a cider drinker. While visiting my parents in Upton Upon Severn from Australia we had a family get together Lunch Time meal at The Kings Head in celebrating my parents Blue Sapphire 65th wedding anniversary on Wednesday 30/03/22 & dad's 92nd birthday the same day. Excellent friendly service from the staff with excellent menu choice, food well cooked & good presentation, menu prices were very reasonable & we all managed to share the special anniversary cake made elsewhere. Queen Elizabeth didn't forget the occasion with her special card. A big thankyou to the Staff at The Kings Head.
