Menu looked great, was a range of different roasts to choose from. Ordered garlic bread for starter and All ordered roasts except 1 who ordered steak burger - waiter was fantastic and was able to adapt the burger to suit tastes! Starters arrived within 15 minutes, but then waited just under an hour for mains but was no bother as the atmosphere and staff were fantastic. It was clear our waiter was extremely busy, but what was good to see was the manager stepping in to help out. When food arrived it looked great. The general consensus was that the roast dinners were overly salty but still delicious. I myself was disappointed in the steak burger it was extremely bland and flavourless :( Overall had a fantastic visit due to our waiter and the manager (gentleman in blue shirt). This was a last minute booking. We had heared many good reports of the food and atmosphere of the pub. We were not disappointed as far as the main meal was concerned. Roast pork and shank of lamb were our choices. Both served with excellent and generous vegetables. Unfortunately the ice creams served for Sweet were not acceptable. They were icy and had obviously been left out at some stage and refrozen. There was no trouble or embarrassment in returning the ice creams and no charge was made hence have only docked one star from the rating.

We were a party of six cousins and spouses - all seniors - on a rare meeting for Saturday lunch in what was for all of us a completely geographically mutually convenient town, and booked here following a personal recommendation. Glad we did. The email booking was handled well. Big car park, and a proper pub welcome. Between us we had four different main courses, lamb shanks, duck, chicken and sea bass fillet. All arrived together, all perfectly cooked and appetisingly presented in man-size portions on pre-heated plates. Particularly liked the attentiveness of staff in ensuring that everyone was happy and all was well. Wines were good at the price and desserts were also well-received. Well done The King's Arms. A pleasant village pub, staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable from the outset. We booked but asked to move tables. No problem. We both ordered the beef, my partner water hers pink and bloody, I wanted mine no pink, no bloody. Both meals delivered within ten minutes, beef exactly as we asked. A decent Sunday lunch, with as much care and attention as you'd give it in your own kitchen (by which I mean 'a lot' - often Sunday lunch prepared in a pub feels like it came off a conveyor belt). And also a lot of it - our plates were piled high.Extra points for perfect roast potatoes, stuffing and cauliflower cheese. Yorkshire pudding was slightly dry but maybe that's because I left it until last. We paid £13 each plus drinks, which seemed like a bargain. We'll be back.

This is a plea to the chef to only serve up the venison cottage pie to people either with no teeth, convicts or to meals on wheels! I didn't need to use a knife during any point of this meal, every mouthful tasted the same, the presentation was not good and you killed the wonderful flavour of venison (I thought i was eating beef), It had no substance and by the time I got home as I was hungry again. My husband had the pork belly which he said was very chewy. Our other two guests thought their food was Ok and we all thought the deserts were nice. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was good. I would still probably go back but not for an evening meal but for a pub lunch. Hopefully mine was just a one off as they must be doing something right as the pub was full.

I had great expectations for lunch having been greeted by our waiter who said the home reared roast pork was wonderful and highly recommended. The reality was a very average meal, pork had little taste and had a very heavy beef gravy, but the ultimate sin was that the roast pork did not come with crackling. The speed of service was very fast, no sooner had we finished our main then we were given the dessert menu, and it then arrived with lightening speed, along with more drinks, one of which was spilt over one of our party and our table without so much as an apology.Unfortunately there were 2 young boys who were running through the restaurant and around the bar, over and over again. The ales and cider were well kept but they served the worst G&T I have ever had, no lemon or lime, ice that melted before it arrived and awash with flat tonic, customers like to add tonic to taste. Will not recommend or return, shame because this could so easily have been better.

Visited 8/11 with husband, daughter and granddaughter. I can honestly say this was the best roast dinner ever! All the produce was absolutely delicious. A little bit more expensive compared to some other places, but it was a really good meal

We visited the KA a few times a few years ago, then it "went off the boil a bit" and we stopped going.Having heard good reports and that there had been a change of ownership we decided to go a again. We went for Sunday Lunch as a family of 6 (4 and 2 little people). The menu had a number of interesting dishes, which I intend to try on future visits.(Oh yes! There will certainely be future visits. On this visit we settled for the straight Sunday roast lovely thinly sliced and tender beef, good sized portions with the usual vegetable selection, a childs portion of slow roast belly pork that was almost as big as the adult portions and a childs fish and chips. All plates cleared, always a good sign with children. The service was good and friendly, with particular care taken to include the little ones. One very small critisism, the puddings took a liitle long to come out. I will however qualify this by saying they were obviously "caught out" by a sudden unexpected influx of customers. This brings me to my final point, the Kings Arms is getting known, and popular , so it might be advisable to book. By around 1.30 - 2.00 pm all tables were full and 3 were even on to second seating.Nice to find a good old fashioned pub, oak beams ,open fire, etc getting it right. We will certainly be back.

Yesterday, we went for the first time since the new ownership. There were four of us (including two well-travelled Australians), each of us with different main courses. Each meal was excellent in presentation and quality. The Australians, who were at the end of a long European tour, remarked that this was the best meal they had had. The service was both efficient and friendly. Will we be going again? Of course!

We were looking for a place to have coffee and cake after Michelham Priory house and garden visit. We discovered this lively and quirky tea garden. It was very busy with groups of families and friends. It was organised and provided a friendly service.

Being a bit of a Sunday roast connoisseur I’d heard good things about this pubs Sunday roasts! Booked it up (recommended) and had the three meat roast! Way too much for me BUT oh my god was it delicious. The meat was melt in mouth, Roasted potatoes just right, all homemade and with the biggest Yorkshire pudding I’ve had. The gravy stole the show, it was delicious and I’d love to know how they made it taste sooooo good! 10/10 (my first ever) I’ll be back for sure!

Great food. Generous portions. Good vegetarian options. Buddha Bowl was superb. Lovely location and garden and friendly staff. Good choice for a dog friendly lunch out. We'll return.

Dreadful menu and terrible service. Menu was limited to say the least and they didn’t have what I wanted. Had breakfast there this morning and couldn’t have poached eggs only fried, reason being ‘we only have 1 chef’ ……a chef who can’t poach eggs!!!!
