Sussex Country Gardener in Wealden

Very poor service. Mispriced items, took age to get the items bought out of store. Were the wrong ones. 45min later finally get the right items, quite pricy and asked for small discount to recognise the wait and inconvenience, was told nothing wrong with product by a male manager. I explained the service and mistakes were the issue, the refunds now taking days to process so have hundreds of pounds on card; I suggested I’m not sure why would return as a customer, was told didn’t need to! Fine. Don’t need rude staff to have no acceptance or accountability. Can do that somewhere corporate and cheaper!

My favourite Garden Centre ever! Beautiful outside area with everything you need for your garden. Delicious Cafe! Fabulous farm shop. Gorgeous gift shop! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not bad at all! Terrific views from the terrace eating area, and the food is Value for ££. Shall go again.

Driven past a few times and thankfully pulled in to have a look around. Relaxed and well-kept garden centre with a great selection of plants and other products attribute to a good garden centre. We had a spot of lunch as well and will return 👌😊

Excellent service had a nice tea and cake well done

Called in on Sunday 13th Oct having checked the website which said that cafe would be open until 16.30hrs. We arrived at 15.40 to be told we close in 20 mins. I asked if that meant last order or did we need to order and eat within 20 mins, a young rude female member of staff got cross, swung her arms in a scissor action and said closed and leave within 20mins. As we walked away the young rude staff started talking about my group, 3 x adults. They were making derogatory remarks, being disrespectful and sneery. I requested to see a manager and a cafe supervisor came over and said her staff were wrong and communication had been poor. They were indeed open until 16.30. She said come back and they would serve us, we did not trust her staff to serve us and felt they may sabotage our food. We declined, recieved no proper apology, no offer to get the staff concerned to apologise and no good will gesture. Will never return.

Sussex country gardener is a wonderful place to spend a Sussex country day out. Yesterday I had a delicious Sussex country moussaka which was delicious. I got £5 off for being a Sussex country loyal customer, after all it is the best centre for country gardeners in Sussex.

Lovely displays here, nice cafe,plus a large shop. Pet corner, with grooming, pet food, aquarium. Very friendly staff in here. Well worth a visit.Here are some photos of the Halloween display.

The cafe was going to be my new Sunday go-to but the onerous table number system for a single person has meant twice, in a busy period, someone has grabbed my table and the waitress hasn’t been able to locate me . Today I absentmindedly forgot a table number and whilst taking literally 3 seconds to find one nearby the lady serving let someone else jump in front of me mid way through my order. Hence when my order came I was missing a latte and when in a perfectly civil way I questioned this (maybe she had forgotten to add it?) and did I still need to pay for it, I felt her responses were quite defensive. Not very friendly service at all I’m afraid and I think I will go elsewhere in future.

Quirky little garden centre. A pleasure to walk round it.

Visited today after being unsuccessful in purchasing compost in two garden centres in Tunbridge Wells (out of stock and no assistance at all). Within a couple of minutes of looking around a very pleasant lady explained how their pay and collect the gate worked and we were delighted. They showed us options and gave advice at the till and the specialist compost we needed was loaded into the car at the gate. We were so delighted we had a delicious special offer £8 afternoon tea for two while we were there. Well done for being friendly and helpful.

Only popped in for a coffee. Nice atmosphere but we had to wait for over 20 minutes for a couple of cappuccinos.

Good food. The shop had lots of great plants. A few weeks later plants still going strong.

Went to purchase an umbrella for our garden table. Very helpful staff. Easy parking. Vast selection of everything, from plants to food etc

Only stopped for lunch, had a lovely lasagne, even had crispy bits on the top Walked thru the garden centre, looks like plenty of well kept stock will return when I have more time

Previously a good garden centre; now full of superfluous tat, and essential garden supplies out of stock. More and more like a tawdry gift shop

Brought some plants which were delivered the next day. Had a cappuccino and carrot cake, liked the cappuccino but the cake was dry but will still go back.

I brought some plants yesterday and I have just received them this morning. Had them delivered as I do not drive and I had to get there by bus. So pleased with the quick and friendly service. I would recommend going there. I had a cappuccino and a piece of carrot cake. The drink was lovely not keen on carrot cake, but will still have a drink and something to eat when I go back.

I visited the pet department to get some Parrot seed and some sand for my African Grey. They were very helpful and got me everything I needed. The staff seemed to enjoy a laugh and a joke which felt welcoming. They were very helpful in assisting with my queries.

A great gardening centre. Their Cafe had a good menu however I thought the prices quite high. £10.90 for a jacket potato.

First time of visiting. Easy to find with huge car park. Could find anything you need for outdoors from excellent selection of plants and shrubs to tools, furniture and ornaments. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I did not try the cafe but will do next visit when I will also validate the loyalty card.

Nice place, but the service is possibly the slowest you will see. Anywhere. More coffee in the saucer than in the cup by the time it was delivered to our table 🙄

It is a pleasure to visit, the staff are efficient, helpful, knowledgeable about plants, very friendly and there is always someone on hand to guide and inform. The cafe, Cook frozen foods, furniture..... the lot ! And the fresh fish man is in the car park (on some days)

Sandwiches are fine, but the Welsh rarebit was awful. Lukewarm , tasted of nothing. Just a weird stodgy porridge type stuff on bread. No discernible cheese at all.

Nice garden centre with plants and reasonable prices. The aquatic shop is a very nice independent shop with a good selection of fish. The coffee shop was let down by the coffee, which we were eventually served with.

Great garden centre fantastic caffe

NO DOGS allowed. Horrible experience, I have a small 2 yr old dog on lead, they threw us out. Dogs are not allowed because of covid. Yet kids are running around unsupervised. Awful place. Start treating dogs with more respect idiots, when you are in trouble you expect service dogs to save you.

My family and I had lunch on Mother's Day and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The tables were set with white tablecloths (albeit paper)eàch table had a plant on it. The service was really good, we all choose roast chicken which was delicious and I had the rhubarb crumble and custard. Another section was set up for afternoon tea. I think the staff did an excellent job and made Mother's Day (2 of us) really special.

Very nice and well equipped garden centre. We do like the restaurant, very good breakfast and high quality produce but sadly the sauce condiments are of the lowest budget quality which is a real shame..... Let's down what could be perfect.

So many different plants and all in good condition. Not something you can say about some places. Big range of products from barbecue to ornaments. If you get stuck for a present come here 😀

Lovely garden centre staff very helpful. The restaurant is well worth popping in for lunch.

Lovely cafe and food. Good service at the counter however the waiting staff were not as pleasant. No communication sadly from them. Would be a great place if all staff were trained to the same level as counter staff. Apart from this, the breakfast was good.

I've always loved this garden center but recently its lost its 'sparkle' since they've started selling 'cook' products and other foods there's little room left for the lovely gifts they used to sell. Today I visited with friends who had not been before and we stayed for lunch. The restaurant was very busy and the menu looked good but what a disappointment. The drinks arrived almost instantly by a silent waiter who plonked the tray down and walked off. The food soon followed and was very mediocre. It was advertised as cottage pie with veg. The veg was a dish of peas and the cottage pie was tasteless apart from the oversalted mash. In future, if I'm passing, I'll pop in but will stick with tea and cake.

Went for breakfast but were 2mins over time which was OK, so we had 2 coffees instead of 2 full breakfasts they surely can afford to turn business away .

Great food but the wait is interminable. You give your table number when ordering but the waitresses wander around aimlessly with the food not knowing where it goes. The service has been dreadful for a long time and no one seems to care as every review says the same thing. The wait is painful and I won’t be returning. The shop was very disappointing with not much in it.

My friend and I popped in for a quick lunch as she had a dentist appointment in Tunbridge Wells - we allowed just over an hour for this. When ordering sadly the filling that I wanted for my baked potato had runout so I had to make do with just baked beans - not satisfactory as this was before 12.30. Drinks were delivered without a single word from the waiter and no glass - I had to go up and ask for one. Then we waited and waited - too long - finally arrived but only after I had to ask as we were running short of time. Resulting in rushed consumption of soup and a baked potato. I haven’t visited this cafe for a year or so and probably won’t bother again. Extremely busy but no welcoming feeling from the staff which previously I had always felt. Something has changed - management or what I wonder?

We enjoyed a fantastic afternoon tea with Proscecco. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

Lovely food however the time taken to wait for food was unacceptable. There was a notice by the counter warning that it would be 20 minutes wait which was fine. When it got to over half an hour I went to enquire to be told that all food would be an hour's wait! I will return but will ask before ordering in future.

Food is amazing, especially the roast!

Lovely place to visit. Nice food and shop looked lovely decorated for Christmas. I found gluten free cake and biscuits too. And there is also gluten free in the cafe.

Wat een mooi tuincentrum! Rommeliger (typisch Brits?) dan we in Nederland gewend zijn, maar zeker zo aangenaam. Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Aardewerk voor buiten aanzienlijk fraaier dan in Nederland en stukken goedkoper!

Great place to visit, the decor is very comfortable but the breakfast was served with precooked ingredients. Sausage was rubbery and was definitely just heated up.

Ordered food total came to £28.70 gave girl on till 2x £20s got change for £30 i immediately said i had wrong change they said they would check the till Came back and said till was £5 pound light . I still complained they said they would check CCTV came back and said i had given them £25 despite having been given £1.30 change they then said they had spoken to the owner and nothing further could be done Asked for my receipt which i had not been given in first place and the girl had rung up that i had given her £30 Now this is either total incompetence or a deliberate scam by staff BE CAREFULL IF PAYING BY CASH

We visited the garden centre for the first time having passed many many times! It was quite an amazing surprise so much to look at from beautiful furniture to plants to gifts to deli it has it all l think a hidden gem and cafe was very spacious good coffee and cake! We met the new manager very nice guy we wish him well! Look forward to our next visit! 🌿 Ann & Keith T/wells🌿

Lovely garden centre but not good for disabled people .

Friday afternoon with a fresh fish van in the car park and an addition on the specials board - Fish and chips - The inference being..fresh fish and chips. WRONG. Very deceitful.. An awful preformed lump of greasy batter with some grey filling. Even the chips were poor. We left most and hope others choose more wisely .

We came on a whim and were not disappointed. Shared the club sandwich with chips and an iced coffee. Delicious. They had a wheelchair so I could get my wife into the dining area.

Having used The garden centre for a while, i was disapointed with the food in the cafe, also the staff who serve it are rude, unhelpful and not pleasant. Will not be returning.

Wide variety of plants (looked in very good order) also shrubs and trees. So very much to see, lots of pots, gifts, toys, cakes, jams, frozen meals and much more. We had our lunch in the cafe which was very spacious. The windows had a lovely view. We opted for omelettes they came with a side salad and chips. They were very tasty and filling.

Do not have breakfast here!!! My birthday treat today ended in wrong eggs, stale sausages you could not get a knife through 1/4 of a field mushroom dreadful bacon and toast did not arrive until reminded. When complained no apology from manageress just" that's how chef cooks it". Dreadful service - not like it used to be. We've spent £1000s over the last 25 years but will tell everyone about this vile food. Shoddy

The cafe here is always a great option for he beautiful views, plentiful seating options and lovely food. Discovered (too late) that the indoors is air conditioned, or at least it felt like it was.

Very good Sunday roast with good service.

Our visit was a pre booked fathers day breakfast. The food was very good quality. Not very warm but very tasty. The booking system was useless. Child breakfast price was incorrect therefore was charged too much. There was no way of leaving notes re babies needing highchairs etc. The website stated breakfast was between 9.15 - 11 15am but you couldn't book a time and they don't even open til 9 30. Despite pre booking we waited at least an hour for our food. Drinks were all consumed by then so had to order more. My dad sent his food back as he found it to be cold. The dads did receive a nice gift which was unexpected and very thoughtful. Also when leaving the server said because of the delay we didn't have to pay for any of our drinks which was appreciated. The staff were very pleasant and helpful just a bit overwhelmed with the amount of walk ins plus the booked guests. In summary we did enjoy our breakfast and the garden centre but the booking system was terrible and the staff were under too much pressure. We like this place so we will return.

We visit the cafe most times we come to the garden centre and have always been happy with the food & service BUT on this occasion it was far from perfect. It was bank holiday Monday and yes it was busy but being busy is no excuse for rudeness… the girl serving was very rude and abrupt…. Part of our food order never turned up and when we asked her about it she replied very rudely that they were busy, in the end we got a refund to then discover when we got home the refund was short changed ! I have emailed the garden centre but to date Ive not had any response from them !!

Staff is polite, range of products is great, from plants to gardening furniture, equipment. Cafe is very big and cosy, did not expect such a big place in the garden centre. They have a session before the tills that has loads of extra products for home decoration and kids stuff. Some clothes, 👒 and a even frozen food and a few snacks, fresh produce and sweets but the tills.

Absolutely amazing afternoon tea! Fresh delicious homemade sandwiches, the cheese scones were huge! And so good! Fruit scone cream and jam, and cakes. Tea and coffee - just brillant! Xx

The cafe was busy and the staff were super friendly. Our food and drink orders were taken at the till and were extremely prompt at being delivered to our table. We didnt have a desert but the cakes looked amazing. Would recommend. A good variety of meals were on offer. We walked around the garden centre and were impressed with the stock and how it is all presented.

I love this garden centre so much! As well as the huge range of plants and outdoor equipment and furniture, there's the delicious cafe and the gorgeous shop too! Eight of us pre booked a table for lunch which was superb. We all had different main dishes and all were great. The cakes were heavenly too! Fabulous service and prices also, and so much choice! Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

More than your usual plant centre .. cafe serving homemade breakfast/lunch,cake and scones all good value for money. Beautiful gifts and huge card selection, the farm shop is well stocked , recommend the bread rolls!
