Quality and choice of food is second to none. The service was faultless and I have no hesitation recommending this establishment to anyone.

Just spent a lovely weekend at The Kings Arms. Alex the owner is also a very good chef and so you can be assured of nice food as well as a welcoming and comfortable stay. We'll be back at some point. Recommended.

Called in for lunch . Really friendly helpful staff and cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Wide range of choices on menu. We opted for sandwiches and were impressed- generous fillings and nice salad accompaniment. Also had portion of chips and onion rings to share, such a large serving that we couldn’t manage them all! Hoping to return soon and sample more dishes

Went out with friends for a meal quite poor food. Over priced for what it was one of us had the parmo and that was a big mistake the the chef needs to go to teeside area to know what a parmo looks like before putting it on his menu see pic for yourselfs

Popped in for lunch mid week with our boxer dog. Waitress was amazing! Really friendly, loads of fuss for our girl and a bowl of water without asking. The chicken katsu burger was amazing! Lovely food and great waitress. Thanks 😊

Stopped by had meal tack tap bar room at back next to kitchen noise so avoid rooms above kitchen if lije sleep abd be warned tgey said parties stop 9pm many taxis and people some friends that dont visit there no more advise living close proximity state that rowdy drinkers parties go on till 1130pm pm very darkened room at back small tap room bar room often crowded by heavy boozers near to kitchens and small dining area to front reminicent of many day this day and age this inn is downhill downmarket since owners changed about 7 years ago who have little interpersonal skills rarely smile talk or engage you in polite conversation and services of meals often served very slow at bar kitchen by teenage girls who also on bar and propriator made to feel unwelcome i always say if not happy in job opt out if not peoples person or if dont have good rapport with guests no interpersonal skills or training ability if it too hot in kitchen get out too many cooks spoil broth and bedrooms hit n miss like food give the kings arms wide birth and other nearby villages offer much better customer service overall experience better value for money and far better choice of varied dishes menus to suit all esp if vegan vegetarian or like fine dining experiences Years ago got good food service chitchat Nowadays sadly this once over rated glory hole pub was good choice but after recent trip very disappointed let down Sorry not for us anymore since new owners acquired this deluded establishment with delusions grandier not to upstep up their game menus changing better more choices better service more choices drinks offered in bar area remodernise inn establishment make it welcoming maybe staff managers wear uniform as looked very unkempt untidy and if neglect cleanliness tidiness personal hygeine like smells damp and dogs allowed in rooms and ill mannered rip off prices from managrment more bout money than customers then any discerning guests looking for nice experience if want upmarket dining stay will leave in the scores serch elsewhere if this inn doesnt up its game and will go to dogs okay for one night or drinking sessions who can neck the most and rowdy parties not ideally suited to the nice village its in and several friend who lived here for many years conclude it past it sell by date naybe should be sold to someone who can make it good again who know what punters custoners want not just parties boozing but goid old fashioned values traditions and good old fashioned mrnus plus modern ones all time favourite goid value money with well trained customer services interactions conversation cust services people who can communicate well good interpersonal skills courteousy conversation greetings and smart uniforms no excuses for rudeness slowness and shabby unkept untidy staff who look like should be working at asda

We had a meal here as part of celebrating my wife's birthday where we stayed at a local B&B. I had the katsu chicken burger for main and bread & butter pudding for dessert. My wife had the parmo and cheesecake. The food was delicious and very good value for money, although I did think the portions were quite small. The pub got very busy but is only small so has few tables, you would seem to need to book. I washed this down with a pint of Theakstons ale. All in all, this was a very nice meal and good value. Good service from the staff at this local pub.

My wife and I had lunch in the Kings Arms today, the welcome we received was good, the service was very good but the food was excellent, my wife had her favourite fish, chips and mushy peas, I had the fish cake of which, during my 78 years I’ve eaten many but this something different I’ve never had one anywhere near as tasty as this was. Although we’ve lived in the area for 26 years this was our first visit to the Kings Arms but it certainly won’t be our last.

Cannot recommend this place enough everytime we go are greeted by friendly staff.The food is absolutely amazing.My wife and i had the burger with onion rings and what i call proper chips not frozen ones.We both agreed it was the best burger with the sides that we have had and will definitely be back.

We called in for hot drinks, on a rainy day during our staycation nearby in West Tanfield. We had coffees and tea in the bar, and all were very good. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and we received a very warm welcome from the Staff. The atmosphere in the bar was lovely, and it had a nice beer garden. Our collie was greeted with a fabulous welcome too.

Nice pub near Thirsk. Rooms are spacious enough, very clean with a comfortable bed. Breakfast is really good, however a bit pricey and I would've expected a bigger portion

Lovely hotel pub in a small village with decent access to Thirsk and the A1M. The rooms are comfortable with big comfortable beds, excellent water pressure and all the amenities you would expect in a place like this. The breakfast was excellent, albeit a little on the pricey side.

OMG will definitely be going here again , everything was delicious and came out piping hot . There was 6 of us and everyone enjoyed what they had . Only one complaint I was gutted when my dessert was finished it was that nice .

Great location - lots of interesting countryside. First time here. 3 of us. 2 had beef and mustard pie, mash. I had squash and beetroot Wellington with blue cheese. Extremely small portion of veg between 3 of us and my blue cheese seemed to be cheddar (?). But honestly, don't let these points put you off because the food was fabulous - an 11/10! The Wellington was incredible. Dessert was (×2) ginger and date sponge with butterscotch sauce - again, to die for and a lemon tart with blackcurrant sorbet I think. All 11 / 10 again. I wish there had been more veg but I can't mark down because of it. Full marks for a marvellous meal and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Kings Arms. We were made to feel very welcome, and the food, especially the evening meals were great! I follow a strict gluten free diet, and there were several choices on the menu that were either gluten free, or could be adapted. All in all, a 5 star experience!

Nice village pub that does good food.

We spent a few days here and made it our base to see the surrounding countryside and places of interest. The inn it's self is small and cosy with really friendly staff. The food is good with plenty of local produce served. Our room was a fair size with a ensuite and was very clean with a very large comfortable bed. Car parking is tight which you expect with older properties but we managed to find a spec each day. The owner provided good recommendations for places to visit.

Spent 4 nights at The Kings Arms on a business trip. 10 - 14 July. Never stayed here before but can honestly say this was one of the better places I’ve ever stayed in. Staff are friendly Service was excellent The food was excellent (breakfast and dinner) The room was excellent Price = value for money Thank you for making me feel welcome. Highly recommend

I was having some work done locally on my Campervan and needed somewhere to stay. I was fortunate in finding the Kings Arms which was walking distance from the Campervan business workshop. What a gem! Great friendly service, comfortable well priced room's and a terrific Restaurant! Alex the owner is the Chef and boy does he know how to cook and again I thought the food was excellent value for money. I did not know North Yorkshire at all but it is a beautiful part of England. I took the train from Thirsk Station (walking distance from Kings Arms) into York. Fabulous city. If you want a good base to see the area I can't recommend the Kings Arms strongly enough!

Nice place, decor a bit dated but very clean. Great menu. Staff very very good. Food disappointing. Main course was rack of lamb at £24 and i got 2 small lamb chops and my wife got less. Tasted ok, but very very bad valuse for money, No side veges either.

Lovely friendly pub, great choice on the menu and great value for money. Staff members happy and offered adapted dessert choice for allergies.

We met up with my wife's cousins and their partners for a meal. The food was a good quality but one of our party had the "rack" of lamb chops which ended up to be 2 chops. He was too polite to say anything. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed the food.

After a few days travelling and overnight stays in “formulaic” hotels I looked for a gastropub type of place close to the A1M. I chose the Kings Arms at Sandhutton near Thirsk which turned out to be perfect. The staff were friendly and welcoming; the evening food offering ranged from bar snacks up to full a la carte options and were delicious. A pint or two of Theakstone’s was just right. My room (room 5) was comfortable with a deep bath-tub as I had requested. Breakfast (selected the previous evening) was tasty and filling. I will definitely stay there again when I am next in the area.

This was my favourite restaurant having visited many times over many years. We visited this week and were extremely disappointed. We had been looking forward to our usual Fillet Steaks but unfortunately they were over cooked and dry. We both asked for medium-rare (no running blood). When they arrived they were well-done (over-done). Not a sign of any pink even when cut through the middle. We complained to Alex’s wife who served us and she said she would let Alex (owner/chef) but we got no response from either. Unfortunately we did not send back as we didn’t want to make a fuss. To add insult to injury my wife ordered the bounty cheesecake which the menu advised was accompanied by Raspberry Ripple icecream, which I also asked for as part of the triple icecream. What arrived was Vanilla. A small point you might think, however the waiter came back from the kitchen and said it was RR. This is insulting particularly as we can tell the difference. After paying the bill we let him know we would never visit again. There are lots of good restaurants in Yorkshire. Goodbye Alex.

Fantastic. Extensive and varied menu. Good choice of specials. Brilliant gluten free options. The food is absolutely out of this world, but with an extremely reasonable price tag. Definitely a place to go if you appreciate good food. Many main meals under £15!!! The staff are friendly, welcoming and very attentive. The pub has a warm and cosy feel. Nice decor. The toilets are absolutely immaculate. Parking outside and great access and facilities for disabled. There is a restaurant separate to the bar area. Dogs are welcome in the bar. There’s outdoor seating for the warmer months. I can’t recommend this pub enough the food is always to such a high standard here if you enjoy good steak you will not be disappointed here. The Scollops and chorizo starter is an absolute favourite of mine and you will not be disappointed with portions that is for sure.

We booked a room here overnight whilst visiting the James Herriott museum. The staff were really friendly. We managed to check in early and the room was spacious, comfy and spotless. Our meal later was really tasty too! We had to pre-order our breakfast and...

We stayed for New Years Eve.. the whole evening was fabulous. Food was amazing, room was spacious, locals were great fun and we were well and truly looked after from start to finish. Happy new year to all the team

Had a fabulous meal here. More of a gastro pub than normal pub fayre - so more expensive but very good. We would go again if in the area.

What a little gem this place is! We were staying in the Woodland Lakes Lodges in Thirsk and wanted to go out for one of the nights to a nice local pub for some food and drinks. We found the Kings Arms was close by and decided to give it a try. We forgot to book a table, but when we called they managed to squeeze us in which was great. On arrival it's an amazing traditional English pub. Nicely finished inside and small which makes it feel cosy. Great selection of drinks on offer. The food was absolutely amazing! Hands down some of the best food I've ever had! Portion size was generous and the quality was superb! We opted for the Turkey and Chrorizo pie with chunky chips and seasonal veg... Wow! Probably the nicest pie I have ever had! 3 of us ended up having the pie and all of us thought it was flawless! Even the kids meals we're of very good quality. The staff were very friendly and attentive as well. I couldn't fault our visit and glad we managed to squeeze it in on our break away! If your either staying nearby or passing, this is a must to pop in for some food! It's very small inside so I would recommend calling to book to avoid any disappointment. We will definatley be back!

Extremely comfortable room with the most gorgeous deep, roll top bath. I ate in the restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious. Brilliant value and friendly service.

Stopped for a weekday meal here for my birthday and the food was sensational. The service was outstanding, the ambiance in the pub and dining room are great and the marsbar cheesecake is genuinely the best pudding I have ever had. I highly recommend.

Just had a week working in the area and my company organised for me to stay at the Kings arms so I went in completely blind. Accommodation wise everything was very clean, comfortable and well stocked into he way of teas and coffee etc, couldn't fault it! The bar/restaurant was very reasonably priced especially given the quality of the meals, the 3 meals I had this week were the best I've had from eating out in quite a while If anyone is in the area I would 100% recommend it

Stayed here with my partner at the weekend, everything was lovely, food, cleanliness and the rooms were spotless. The only thing I wasn't happy with is that we asked for room service as it stated was available on the breakfast form to be handed in. My husband went downstairs early to settle our bill, to be told that breakfast was downstairs, we had half an hour to get ready and get to the table as we had requested breakfast for 8.30. We were hoping to not have to rush about as it was supposed to be a leisurely stay. If you don't offer something you state you do please tell people because it ruined the stay for me as we were rushed and almost missed breakfast if my husband hadn't gone down to the bar 1st thing
