Lovely pub and very friendly and also welcomed dogs. Really wanted to give this place 5 stars. Unfortunately my Duck meal was gritty in taste. I didn’t agree on the reasoning which was due to the herbs it was cooked with. It was swapped promptly so all fine. My Latte coffee arrived luke warm, but having already had the issue with my meal, I was loathed to mention it! My husbands meal was fine and others around looked lovely. Would be happy to try them again.

Lovely food, great service and always delivers. We sat outside as a family and it was really good food to a high standard. I would highly recommend, the countryside view at the back is a bonus👍

Sadly disappointed with the quality here. Not 5* at all! Faux leather on bed peeling, bedside tables all chipped, mould in the shower, shower not working properly, stain on carpet, TV so small not worth it and a thin metal sprung mattress that you felt all through the night and everything you moved.

Excellent 4 night stay at The King’s Arms. Tony and his staff were very welcoming. The room was lovely and clean. We ate at the King’s Arms every night too and the evening meals and breakfast were superb. Would definitely recommend.

We were away for the weekend, so didn’t know where to go for lunch, asked a local for a nice pub to go with nice food, and this was recommended to us, 7 of us rock up, (4 adults 3 kids) and the head of house asked if we had booked? I informed him that we hadn’t and this appeared to have annoyed him, looking to see if he could squeeze us in, I get I had to explain that we were out of area and was passing, again he insisted that we should have booked, and then found us a table. We did discuss if she should walk out, after making us feel Unwelcome, but the kids were hungry and decided to stay. The food was nice, the staff did there job but they were not overly friendly and there was atmosphere.

When it’s the middle of January and dreary outside. The Kings Arms Roast lunch ticks all the boxes.😉 Lovely welcome, warm cosy atmosphere, Waiting staff lovely and the Roast lunch was delicious- perfectly cooked meats, fresh vegetables and proper roast potatoes ... it’s a hit for us and our crew🙌 The pub has flourished under Rob,Mat and team... it’s truly part of the wider village community.. Take a bow chaps- well done and truly deserved ..😉

This is a second Sunday roast for us all here. Amazingly presented and cooked. Wonderful home cooked flavours. Service team was just right, this public house is a real little gem. The environment is always welcoming and prepared for it’s customers. We will be returning 🥂

We have been here recently and had a really good meal at lunchtime. We returned one evening a few nights later and were so disappointed. Such a shame. There was a special pie night which was chosen and it came with a separate pie crust, obviously cooked separately and was dried to a crisp. There were chips with the pie which came absolutely covered in gravy - chips and gravy? We were all disappointed with our evening meals, there were a group of us. Even the desserts were a total let down. Such a change from the great lunchtime meal....

Had a fantastic meal on Saturday evening. Menu choice was very good. We ate in their restaurant The food was very good, and the cost was very reasonable, would recommend this to anyone who wants good food at a good price, well done to all the staff.

We just got back from a week in a cottage in Thornford, and ate at the pub almost every day despite taking tons of food with us! The portion sizes are enormous, and the food is just amazing. Having looked through the reviews, I can't believe someone has slated the steak and ale pie - literally the best pub meal I've ever had, so much so that I had it for two days in a row! The staff are friendly and well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area,we ate in the bar each time but the restaurant looked nice. We liked this place so much we've agreed to make the journey from Southampton to Thornford on a regular basis. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

This is a great pub, Warm welcoming staff and a log fire. A good "specials" menu for the over 60's. You could look around and sense everyone was enjoying the "Kings Arms experience" My wife and I opted for the roast beef. A very good portion. Loads of veg . Very well presented and extremely tasty. When the bill arrived we all agreed what extremely good value for money

We have twice visited this restaurant, once for just a very light lunch when passing. As a result of the delicious food and very good service we booked to go back with some friends from Sherborne who are very fussy about eating places. The second time with our friends we had a full lunch and all agreed it was excellent both the food and service and very reasonably priced. Definitely a place to recommend although seeing the number of diners there on both occasions it is already popular.

The Kings Arms has recently changed hands and been renamed, it used to be the Lime Tree. It is a good friendly local village pub serving good homemade food. There are often special meals on different days of the week.

By luck we chose this restaurant for lunch and loved it so much went again the following evening. Smiths is a charming restaurant full of character, with a number of low-ceiling rooms. We had the” scotchy burger” both times and it was absolutely sensational. Cooked to perfection, full of flavour and quite possibly the best burger I (and my wife) have ever had or could remember having (and I’ve had a few!). The cajun fries were also perfectly cooked and added a spicy side to a (moderately) spicy burger and we left wishing this place wasn’t 2 hours away! The staff were friendly , especially the young blonde lady who was so welcoming and accommodating to us and also made the delicious chocolate mousse special that we had for desert. Definitely advisable to pre-book, this place gets very busy, and deservedly so.

The bread and cakes from here are epic - really good Croissant and the Sourdough is top class - can perch indoors if you are lucky or sit outside on some rather flimsy folding chairs, either way teh coffee is very good and even better with a bun! Quality of product is the main attraction, its not a large enterprise like some of the other places nearby. Worth finding.

We nipped in for a quick drink, the orange wine was delicious and the place has a nice atmosphere. We had some little snacks whilst visiting.

The guy who works here is rude and condescending. Dare you not be a perfect coffee expert and ask for advice on which drink to choose.
