££££ overpriced with mean portions. I was looking for somewhere on short notice with the wife and our dog and this pub used to be ok years ago when it was the herons nest . I ordered the half roast chicken with chips which looked like half a qual with a cup of fries a small sauce £19.95 no peas no side salad just a ridiculous half a piece of grilled lemon. My wife had the fish and chips which at least came with some mushy peas again £19.95 . Also my flat white came in a large espresso cup . Very disappointing and unwhelmed

Another excellent night at The Kings Arms! 94 members of a local choir were served a delicious 3 course meal with efficiency and good humour. Everyone was highly complimentary about the quality of the food, atmosphere and service. Special thanks to Shan who managed the evening so well, to the Chef and his/her colleagues who prepared and delivered high quality food so efficiently and Sophie for help with the pre-event planning. I wish I had the names of the staff who served all the tables and kept the food and drink flowing, so that I could thank them personally- they were all excellent! The Kings Arms is a superb venue for large events or casual dining. It never fails!

Beautiful pub, great place to go for a family meal.

We had a lovely three course meal. The sticky chicken starter was especially good. The service from Charlie was excellent and friendly.

We thought the Kings Arms was decorated and furnished beautifully. The service was excellent and the food was amazing! We came from Oxford and Derbyshire as Knowle is a halfway poitn to meet, and even though it was a bit of a drive to get to you - we will definitely be back!

Was delighted to have been offered a free three course meal to celebrate my birthday if another person also bought three courses. I came with my husband on my birthday and enjoyed a really lovely meal. We were very well looked after throughout the evening. Thank you so much.

A lovely friendly pub with rooms by the river. Great location in Knowle not far from NEC Birmingham. Great menu selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Sunday roast was delicious. Enjoyed the trio it was excellent .. the place has a really good atmosphere .The service was great . Would definitely recommend.. Best Sunday Roast I have enjoyed in ages 👌💕

A nice surprise. A quaint old English pub. Excellent food the chef Shaun I compliment for the belly of pork. Very tasty. Breakfast good too! A nice cosy room with a good bed rounded off the stay nicely ( shame about the wonky ironing board but it doest distract from a great stay) will be back again in 2025 definitely a recommendation.

Starters and service to begin with were fine. I requested the fish dish but there were none left so only real alternative for a pescitarian was the vegetable Wellington, when this eventually arrived it was a shortcrust pastry pie that was over cooked. We were not asked during the meal if everything was fine so just ate the filling and when I pointed out to the manager it was not a Wellington he actually laughed and said he discuss it with the ' menu team'! We were in a bit of a rush so ordered hot drinks with a mini desert, waited 20 mins for the desert and the drinks never came. Asked for the bill and pointed out we hadn't had our drinks and 3 times had to send the bill back because they kept putting the drinks on. There were plenty of staff on and many empty tables and we dealt with the manager but received no apology from him. Won't be visiting again and won't recommend.

Food was lovely. Quite expensive though, a burger and fries 18.95 is a lot. Service was pleasant but slow considering it was quiet. Atmosphere ok but very quiet.

A menudo me detengo en el camino a casa para una cerveza rápida y un poco de paz y tranquilidad y este lugar es perfecto, especialmente sentado al lado del canal. Solo hay 1 cerveza encendida a la vez que supongo que es para fines de calidad y actualmente es Doom Bar el favorito de mi.

Preciosa noche, excelente comida y bebidas a precios razonables. Volveremos a ir cuando estemos en la zona de nuevo muy pronto

We recently visited the Kings Arms for a family birthday celebration. I would like to thank all of the staff for a perfect evening, the service and food were amazing and well deserving of 5 stars.

Lovely restaurant but the worst service ever. The meals arrived 10 minutes apart so a family meal this was not! Waitress looked at best fed up and never came to see how the food was or take drinks orders. A real shame as the place its self looks good but the experience wasn’t. Will not recommend or visit again, the Orange Tree up the road is fantastic and a far better choice.

Food was ok, apart from the pie which whilst hot, had lumps of solid meat, which couldn’t easily be chewed. The real problem was it took 2.5 hours for two courses. It’s nice not to be hurried and have a leisurely dinner, but the lack of attention from the waitress beggars belief. It took approximately ten minutes for the drinks order to be taken, even then, when they were delivered they were incorrect. Food was ordered, some things were sold out, which we accept, but it then took best part of 45 minutes for dinners to arrive. Not once in this time was we offered the opportunity to order another round of drinks. The last meal was delivered 7-8 minutes after the first. It was at this point that WE asked for another round of drinks. After we HAD finished eating, the waitress come over to check if the food was ok…bit late by then. We then had the table partly cleared, 3 or 4 empty plates were left, whilst the waitress went to attend to another table. We then asked to see the desert menu, and we asked for the table to be cleared, which was then done by the waitress. Deserts then took approximately 30 minutes to arrive, no offer of coffee/tea etc. We also heard the waitress ask one of the senior staff if she could pop outside for some fresh air, still with tables waiting to be cleared and reset. We then asked for the bill as two of the party had a journey of 1.5 hrs to get home. It was only when I got home I noticed that the service charge, was labelled incorrectly as vat @ 20% (the bill lists two vat charges) if I’d of realised this in the restaurant then I would of requested this be removed.

Our server Charly was very helpful and polite, making a pleasurable dining experience.

Ordered the small plates, and whilst the sizes were good the food was just okay, but nothing wildly special. Otherwise, staff were really helpful and kind, super polite and really quick to bring drinks and food over. Overall, a good experience!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Kings Arms Knowle. We had the most delicious rib eye at the restaurant on the Friday night, and then the following morning the most amazing breakfast. It was really top class. Our room was cosy and well presented with a lovely ensuite. There was nothing we could fault. If we are in the area again we'll be back, maybe in the summer to enjoy your beautiful outdoor seating area overlooking the Grand Union Canal.

We are camped with our motorhome tonight and on arrival i asked a lovely young lady if we could stay and have a table. She was absolutely brilliant with helping us choose the food and wine for this evening. It is so nice to meet genuinely nice and helpful people in this day and age. The food way exceptionally good as was the wine and service. We will be back. Thank you.

Just had two very tasty and well presented meals: the mushroom risotto and the banana blossom stew. Excellent service from all the staff, they were super helpful with our requests and very friendly. The chef went out of her way to provide some extra bits due to our dietary requirements and could not have been more accommodating. This pub was recommended to us by our Airbnb host and we would certainly pass that recommendation on.

Oscar and Reagan truly made our night at the pub unforgettable! From the moment we walked in, Oscar’s warmth and expertise behind the bar shined through. He made us feel like regulars, and his drink recommendations were spot-on. Reagan’s attentive service was equally impressive—always checking in at the perfect time and full of positive energy. Both of them went above and beyond to create a welcoming, enjoyable experience. We can’t wait to return because of them!

Having eaten there before, we are used to having a excellent meal, unfortunately our meal last night was not about the quality of, but the lack of it, no dauphinois or mashed potatoes available, so if you chose a meal with these you had to have chips ,fries or new potatoes instead , beef pie not available either nor the squid , this is on a a Saturday night , you do not expect items like this not available, what we did have was excellent, but not we actually wanted to order

Can across this gem on a recent trip, idyllic location

We have just stayed 2 nights at this wonderful hotel, lovely comfortable rooms with only one small criticism room was a little dark for us older ladies, could have done with brighter light bulbs... but what made our stay so pleasant was the lovely staff who went above and beyond, especially Cameron and Shannon but all staff work so hard to look after you..the food was also amazing, we loved everything about this place and would highly recommend..thank you.

We stayed here as a gift of our daughter and son in law, the room was not as good as we thought! There was dust on the bedside table so felt uncomfortable putting food on there, dust on the trays where the coffee cups were placed, some hairs in the shower and inside the toilet, bit of a let down as the food was amazing , over all the bed was cosy.

Where to begin?! Ordered drinks 5 min after being seated, but had to wait 15 min for those despite the place being practically empty. Food then took over 20 min, by which time the drinks were done and we wanted more, and had to wait 15 min after the food for those, not really very proactive of staff here… Food arrived with mushrooms missing off each dish without explanation, queried this and they said they’ll bring them over, over 5 min later, no apology. Egg also missing from traditional breakfast was told it only had one egg but very clearly is stated on the menu to be two, upon pointing this out was told it just has one, two only for a large breakfast, which is incorrect as per the menu. Ordered two flat whites for a second drink and when they eventually were brought out they said “two big flat whites we ran out of small cups”, these are in fact a latte, not a flat white, which is NOT what I ordered, if I wanted more milk then I’d order such. No replacement offered there or mistake acknowledged, these quite literally are two different coffees, feel free to use the larger cup but just fill accordingly?! Floor was dirty with chips and crumbs beneath us, seems it wasn’t swept last night! Nobody came to check on how we were enjoying the meal. Could’ve comfortably had another drink after the meal but no member of staff came to offer one, or even direct us to the bar to order more and or pay. Not the country pub experience I was expecting.

I ordered scallops and fish n chips. There were no scallops which if I had known b4 I wud av ordered say lamb..anyway fish n chips arrived well done. Fish edible 6/ 10 but chips were roasted. Obviously not straight from oil. Shame, b cos experience was very nice otherwise. Rock on.

Stopped for a drink on canal side never again two glasses of wine and two half's of coke twenty seven pounds fifty ridiculous price.

Got back to pub at 10.25 to be told the bar is shut. And we are residents !! Shocking! Do but stay here unless you want to go to bed early.

Lovely meal, Leah was attentive and friendly, the food was so good, compliments to Chef Shaun. We always have a great meal here, lovely atmosphere, super surroundings. Thank you to Leah and Shaun for looking after us.

My wife was served with hake .couscous, a tiny salad, with un cooked french beans and broccoli..The couscous was also cold.The meal was very poor.The total bill for four people was £120.00 .

First time back after a couple years. All I can say is wow, amazing food, staff and service. The place its self is incredible. Only managed to catch one of the staffs name which was Dan, he was amazing threw out as well as the rest of the staff.

Fantastic place with lovely atmosphere and exceptional food. However it's the customer service that makes this place shine. I had made a mistake on my booking and arrived very late, and the staff were so helpful and did everything to help us. Leah did everything to accommodate our little one, and in the morning Dan cared for us at breakfast and went above and beyond to make it a special experience. We have stayed in many hotels and bnb's on road trips but this is the best customer service we have ever experienced. The food is also worth a mention. Loved it and will likely stop by on our return leg

A first time visit to this canal side venue proved an experience not to be repeated.The staff were a delight but they were up against a menu that on the face was intriguing but proved to be less than average, uncooked beans in a couscous salad did not inspire and the lack of proper mushy peas with skin on oven chips and a rather small portion of battered fish which had freezer origins made this an average meal.The wine list had London pricing which doesn’t work this far north and with beer at a premium price made this an expensive evening for all.

Had a lovely experience and the waitress Leah was very friendly and she tried to do all she could to make our time in the restaurant a pleasant one. Although we are not local to the area, we will definitely be back for another meal.

Visited The Kings Arms in Knowle on Saturday 10 August, for the first time. Was looking forward to a night out with good food and wine and to experience somewhere a bit different. We sat outside first to have a drink and enjoy the beautiful grounds. The drinks were very expensive compared to other pubs but we didn't mind too much. We ordered food from the main menu, 1 x Slow cooked Pork Belly and 1 x pan roasted Lamb rump. The lamb was tough and hard to cut even with a steak knife there were a few green beans and the char grilled veg consisted of a slice of onion and pepper. the Pork Belly was quite a small piece which was quite fatty with very little else on the plate to fulfil our appetites. We wanted to express our disappointment with the overall general quality of the food but there was no one around to speak to so we left and put it down to a bad experience. Definitely won't be going back there!!!

Took my mother for lunch. She had the hake and I had yhe panzenella salad. Both were very good. Leah who served us was very friendly helpful and attentive.

We had the prix fixe menu, which was good. Service was better than it has been on previous visits, but they were not busy. It's a nice old pub beside the canal with outdoor seating. Gets busy at weekends, and service can be really slow then.

Great place to have lunch and catch up with friends.

We decided to try the Kings Arms while the car was having its MOT over the road. The staff are wonderful, polite and attentive. The ambience is pleasant although we decided to take advantage of the pleasant weather and sat outside while watching the canal boats go past. The coffee and tea are excellent using Lavattza which is one of my favourite coffees. We had the bacon sandwiches which were freshly cooked and prepared while we waited. All in all a very pleasant pub that we enjoyed and will visit again.

Ordered a main and 2 sides. Despite I asked them to be served all together, everything came one by one. Waiters have no idea on what we ordered. Not going to come here again.

Lovely weather and setting but unfortunately poor food and service. Drinks ordered but didn't arrive, had to ask for them after our starters, and given coke rather then diet coke and apple instead of pineapple juice - the latter was ok so not mentioned but had to ask for the former to be changed. Long wait for food and surrounding tables not cleared. Chunky chips overcooked and cold/soggy and chicken burger wasn't great either. The Gammon, eggs, thin fries were better. Staff looked to be thin on the ground and trying to do their best so it wasn't easy to discuss these concerns with them at the time. We were really looking forward to the meal, as in the past it has been a great place to eat, but we were really very disappointed today.

Went tonight for my birthday. Fish & Chips x 2 and a burger. Fish & chips over cooked and dry. Mushy peas bone dry. Am not especially fussy but really poor and took forever. Had to have my husbands fries as chips were burnt. Did not complain as didn't want another wait and there were others complaining. Lovely spot for a drink and a walk. Wouldn't eat there again though.

We visit the King's Arms on our anniversary every year as it was the place of our first date. Since Covid the service has been lacking. We visited yesterday at 5pm, we got drinks and ordered our food with no issue. After our starter was cleared away we were then served our main within a couple of minutes. After mains we were offered to see the dessert menu. We had to wait 20 minutes before someone noticed we were waiting. When dessert/coffee arrived we then had to rush them. The food is OK and it feels it should deliver on every level but always disappoints.

Our second time visiting for an overnight stay after our first experience was so good. The location is great (We love the canalside location), the staff are all friendly and attentive, food is fantastic (The Wine & Dine offer is amazing value for money) and the rooms whilst small are cosy, and really well appointed. Will stay again in future - we love it

This pub/restaurant caters for a large group of singers every six months, can be up to 100. They always do us proud. They provide a three course meal plus an optional glass of Prosecco quickly and efficiently. How they do this in a small kitchen is a miracle, !! Some people have to wait longer than others obviously but we try and make this fair and rotate the tables. The staff are always friendly and attentive and make us feel welcome Thank you

Visited on Tuesday evening of this week for our Summer choir 3 course meal with 90 fellow Rockies, and cannot express how happy we all were. The food was amazing, arrived quickly and was really hot (such an accomplishment when serving such a huge group of people). All of the staff at the Kings Arms are so friendly and attentive, they constantly attended to our table, checking if we needed anything and taking drinks orders. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect night, as they have on so many of our previous visits. A massive thank you to Marie for all her help in organising the evening and hard work on the night, it's so greatly appreciated, again!

The Kings Arms did it again! They served a delicious high quality 3 course meal to a local choir group of 90 people with excellent service and good humour. Special mention goes to Marie who is always so supportive on the evening and with the pre-event organisation; nothing is ever too much trouble. Credit must also go to Reece, Zac, Poppy, Amie and Louis who kept the food and drink coming to the tables. Many attendees commented on the high quality of the food and for this thanks go to Shaun, Lauren, Dave, Jimmy, Alex, Carter and Luke. For anyone thinking of planning a large event, I cannot recommend The Kings Arms, highly enough. We will be back!

We booked a party of 16 to celebrate our mum's 92nd birthday. It was booked at quite late notice but The King's Arms accommodated us so well. Everyone's food was served promptly and the service was really efficient and attentive. Quite a few of us had the triple roast, which was really good!! Can't fault anything about our visit. Top marks to the staff who couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. We'll definitely be returning. Thank you so much for helping to make our mum's day very special.

Enjoyed a lovely overnight stay here . Great location with really comfortable rooms with every amenity needed. Food was excellent, I was waited on by the fabulous Charly who is a real credit to your staff. I will definitely return to this little gem whenever I’m working in the area. Paul.

10+ years since my last visit here. Today's Sunday roast meal for 3 of us was exceptional. ! Service and staff were all excellent even though it was v.busy. A nice walk along the canal to top it all. Tip top all round! Well done. Paul

Excellent food and very friendly staff. Unfortunately, my meal arrived much later than the rest of our party's meals but they did the right thing and we got it for free plus a free bottle of wine. Couldn't have asked for more!

When ordering a glass of chardonnay I was told, "we're out of chardonnay " Then when ordering the steak pie I was told "we're out of the pie. No apology, the waitress lacked personality and displayed very little customer service skills. I was over charged for the wine at the end of the meal and did not enjoy the half chicken dinner I had to choose as an alternative. A very disappointing visit all in all.

Such a disappointing experience (yet again). First of all we were kept waiting for 30 minutes beyond our booked table time, because the table was occupied by someone else. No drinks were offered, menus given or orders taken during our time waiting. Eventually we were seated and the same poor service continued. The food took absolutely ages and was very mediocre when it did eventually arrive. The "dirty burger" was genuinely burnt: completely dry and hard to cut, and the chips were stone cold. They had obviously been sat waiting for ages. Roasts were OK but the Yorkshire's were so big and tasteless we had to ask for an additional dish so we could take them off the plates. Desserts came out to finish, except the 3 cheese boards didn't arrive and took a further 15 minutes after a lot of pestering. Usually circus act occurred at the end too when asking for the bill: asked 3 different people for it but it didn't want to arrive. Overall, another bitterly disappointing meal and we definitely won't return ever again given the consistently poor food and service. Avoid this place like the plague.

Genuinely a proper top full English. Large, great quality, quick. The mushrooms were legit the best I have ever had on a breakfast, and that's saying something considering I went to Gary Wilmot's wedding. The mushrooms were beautiful, exciting, exotic... EROTIC?! People come from all over to buy, to sell, and to steal these mushrooms

Food amazing, service amazing. Love the building everywhere was clean. Our server was so polite and looked after us. The only problem we had was when we was paying the bill we as how the tips are split, was expecting something like some go to the kitchen and the server gets the rest,however it seems that everyone gets some of the tip including managers even if they are in doing admin and not out of the office . This is not fair to those who are giving a good service in my opinion needs to be looked at

Came in for dinner with family and the food was amazing. The atmosphere was great and our waitress was very pleasant and couldn’t do enough for us. Will be back again and highly recommend.

Nice venue. Food and Drink very expensive. Room ok. But on the compact side. Shower door a bit of a struggle.
