Love Wetherspoons but the Tuesday Steak Night I've not done for ages was awful. 8oz Sirloin- more than half of it was tough inedible gristle or fat. No complaints with the other food but definitely won't be trying the steak again.

Quick lunch visit with my mum, on the whole a good experience for the type of pub and brand this is. Was a Saturday and did expect it to be very busy, staff were attentive cleaning tables etc, food arrived quick which was good. It's worth a visit for cheap food and drink and poynton is a nice place.

Took my grandchildren and a friend for lunch. Unfortunately it took a long time for the food to come and the quality reflected the prices. Food was cold, fish over cooked and the wraps were same. May have been stood waitng to be served. Not a nice meal but if you go for a drink the surroundings are nice and drink prices unbeatable. As for the food guess you get what you pay for. Go again. No thank you.

Two years since we were last here. Came for both breakfast and eat;y dinner (16.30). STILL the best Wetherspoons we’ve ever been to. Nothing else to say.

We were caravanning a few miles from Poynton and were delighted that we were able to dine at Wetherspoon! They had a special of the day which was Chicken Korma, served with rice, two Poppadums and a large Naan Bread, including a drink. We really enjoyed the Chicken Korma, with a decent size helping which was generous with the chicken, but the Naan Bread wasn't as nice as ones we have had at their other pubs and seemed a bit 'doughy' and the middle of the Poppadums were strange and appeared to not be cooked properly. No-one came to ask if everything was all right so we didn't bother mentioning it, and ate as much as we felt like doing. The building was very nice inside with a lot of tables available outside as well.

Been here many times in the past with club members of a pensionable age Never had any issues with service or food till Sunday . WARNING THIS PUB HAS A VERY STRICT NO DOG POLICY ANYWHERE AS MY SELF AND OTHERS DISCOVERED AS WE WERE TOLD IN NO UNCETAIN TERMS TO LEAVE THE OUTSIDE GRASSY AREA WITH OUR DOGS , WHICH WE THOUGHT LIKE MOST PUBS WOULD BE PERMITTED. THIS CREATED ISSUES FOR ME AS THE ORGANISER OF AN EVENT ENDING UP AT THE KINGFISHER FOR LUNCH.. WE WILL NOW BE VISITING IN THE FUTURE THE NEWLY REFURBISHED FARMERS ARMS WHICH WELCOMES DOGS ..

Great buttermilk chicken burger and a lovely pint. Swift table clearing and service with a smile from a lovely young lady, Hannah. Great for a quick bite will be back

Saturday night is akin to a toddlers musical chairs party, goes to show how popular this venue is. Peeps are watching your last forkfull of fish n chips with a pint for £9 in the hope that they can propell themselves into your still warm seat before another lingering patron. My only gripes about my experience was the gang of OAPs around the Fruit Machine next to the stairway to toilet heaven had procured chairs and stools to rest their wary gambling legs thus making desperate toilet goers circumnavigate a few minute journey around numerous crowded tables . I understand this may have caused issues for certain customers that were "turtling", happily I witnessed no "incidents ". The only other incident was the chef complaining of a sore finger from repetitive injury syndrome on the microwave. An enjoyable experience and more entertaining than a David Attenborough documentary.

Called in for a coffee prior to visiting our daughter. We were served by a very pleasant and well mannered young lady called Rebecca (Becca). We obtained our drinks from the machine and she came along to see that we were ok. Brilliant service. Made us feel relaxed. All in all a very pleasant half hour.

Had a dessert of apple crumble and custard the custard was cold to the extent it was congealed and the crumble topping was like eating just flour it wasn’t even crumble. I would come back for drinks only but won’t be eating there again

Didn't eat here today because disappointed to be told over an hour wait for food. Eaten here loads of times and service normally great so hopefully just a glitch with the number of staff on duty today.

We had a great experience for lunch on Wednesday. The staff were polite and helpful as usual and the food was very tasty. It is a difficult industry and often with a quick staff turnaround, but I think the manager on the day, makes all the difference. Happy manager, happy team. Poor food. Ordered steak and kidney pudding chips peas and gravy. 1. Steak pudding, microwaved, suet was rock hard. 2. Gravy a thimble full, not enough to cover half the chips. 3. Fresh and old peas mixed together, mushy peas that's right mushy peas with a chippy classic please, thankyou.

1 star is a bit rich to be fair, if I had the chance to give zero, I would do so promptly. Wetherspoons is my last place to visit, however on this occasion I had little choice but to try. I have never come across service so abysmal, staff looked like the world was about to end, manageress ( if one could call her that) rude, incompetent & obnoxious. Food cold, tasteless & looked warmed up. Time waiting, I could have cooked it myself quicker. Maybe train your managers / staff to a higher level & get them on customer service courses.

We all know what Spoons I'd about, cheap( but not as cheap as it once was ) and cheerful , a place to pop in for a couple of drinks but nothing more. A couple of us went in last night for a few drinks and it was pretty packed but we managed to get a table and started to unwind, about 7pm what looked like a married couple came in with three kids and squashed themselves around the next table, the people on other tables like ourselves had no problems with the racket they were making but have to object when the kids started going up and down on scooters!! Come on its a bloody bar not a kindergarten, people were pushing the scooters out of the way, serving staff were dancing around then with trays and eventually we decided enough was enough as did two other tables. I understand that parents want to take their kids out but this kind of behaviour will lose custom. Time for the management to step up and decide a time of night when it's for adults only. I've got children and they've been everywhere but it's nice for the grown ups to have some adult chill time. The kingfisher can do better.

Whilst the beer is good and plenty of choice at low prices, the food leaves a lot to be desired.. I had the 8oz sirloin steak with a pint of lager on the £11 deal. Whilst my expectations weren't high, i was really disappointed in the steak as there was more fat and grizzle that actual meat and it was over cooked.

Normally I really enjoy coming here and it is a great place for the family, but in my refent visit I ordered the half chicken and it was basically a carcass with barely any chicken meat on it. Sadly, dissatisfied and disappointed with this order, so won't be ordering that again. But the other food they sell is normally brilliant.

The Kingfisher is an excelent restaurant, helpfull staff, nice enviroment, and easily afordable. This was once a fish resturant, and has a nice glass cieing in the main dining aria, giving a light airy feeling to the main room.

Went for lunch on 6th Dec, Parked for 39 minutes and received a parking fine, limit is 3 hours so no idea why I have been fined and impossible to talk to anyone at Europark or the Kingfisher to get an explanation.

Staff are excellent and probably couldnt work any harder. Always friendly with a nice disposition. Drink prices are what makes Spoons special. I have had food once which was a very tough and dry steak so never again. However, friends swear by the price and value for money. What is irritating is the way they keep changing the rules from the recognised 6 in a group to 4 only. This is not the first time they changed it and when asked the staff hadnt a clue why.5 of us live in a house share, so 5 of us often go out together. 4 only round the table .. WHY?

We went for a drink, however on ordering and paying via the app, we were told we ordered it for the wrong table. (We hadn’t )The manager Sam walked over and stated we had ordered the drinks for the incorrect table, his attitude was absolutely appalling, with other members of staff having to apologise for his behaviour and attitude!He initially refused to serve us the drinks, then began shouting at us - and talking over our group. Saying he couldn’t serve us the ordered and paid for drinks as it was for the incorrect table!!!! He was incredibly rude.We obviously asked for a refund- he refused, by Continuing to shout over our conversation! I can safely say I have never seen this sort of behaviour and poor attitude in a member of staff, even worse a manager.He was so unprofessional.He then began shouting at other members of staff who were serving behind the bar!Quite incredible- shouting in front of customers, it was all rather embarrassing!Definitely one to avoid!! The manager needs to go on a anger management course and a mangers course on how to speak to both members of the public and other staff members. Shocking service by Sam! Incredibly unprofessional service by him.

Received a £45 parking fine after parking in the pub car parkOnly noticed the sign when I finished the breakfast Asked the waitress about this who told us the signs are clear and found it quite funny that we would have to pay a fine. Our family has always regarded the Kingfisher as a jewel in the Weatherspoon crown of quirky pub venues and have looked forward to and enjoyed every visit there with its bright smart and uplifting decor. However when my daughter and I visited for a Sunday brunch of steak, eggs and chips yesterday, we experienced a level of service which even a greasy spoon cafe would be ashamed of. The waiter couldn't differentiate between the two different types of cooked steaks we'd ordered so we ended up eating the wrong ones; we were told they didn't have mustard (unbelievable for a type of eatery which sells a large volume of steaks) and when we asked for ketchup, mayonnaise and salt and pepper, these were thrown, rather than served, onto the table. Food quality and value however were still good.

We found this after driving past and decided to return. Absolutely outstanding. One of the best we have visited. The staff professional, the rules that have been set adhered to and in a ca way. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff should be immensely proud of themselves

Simon the team leader tried to reason with a customer that the cash/ card tables were all in use so unless they were going to use the app on their phone to order and pay for food, there wasn’t a table free for them. He stood and patiently reasoned with them that the rules were not made him but by jd wetherspoon and under the new guidance rules to avoid contact. They were quite rude to him but he patiently explained to them the conditions. This was witnessed by myself sitting on a table close by. This member of staff was a credit to his team! Well done Simon.

Food was okay. Place was clean. Marks would have been higher if the staff weren’t rude. If you don’t like the public then don’t work with them. Huffing at having to bring drinks over, food being slammed down. Muttering about having to do this does not make a pleasant environment for customers. Felt slightly better seeing that the stroppiest staff member was the same with everyone and not just us.

A young lady was VERY rude and snatched our drinks from our hands (drinks we had paid for!). Horrendous atmosphere and toilets were horrific. No refund was given from drinks taken.

Only restaurant we have visited during lockdown. excellent service, cleanliness and relaxing atmosphere. Due to all of this we have been many times over the past couple of weeks and cannot fault the experience. All staff are friendly and helpful however, the service recieved from Jen on each occasion has been exceptional, always friendly, helpful and smiling.

I went for a meal here (first Wetherspoon's since before lockdown) expecting terrible social distancing to be in place, but was surprised by it actually being taken seriously, with good procedures in place. However, the service quality has unfortunately taken a massive dive since the pandemic. Nobody was at the door to let you in (it's roped off) so had to wait a short time. Once we sat, it's encouraged to use the app which we did, however this was a mistake. Food came quickly but we still hadn't received our drinks. I told the lady who served the food we were still waiting who said she'll check. She absolutely didn't, and continued serving food. 20mins had passed since ordering (5 mins since my food arrived). I decided to go to the bar and find out. Turns out, my drink was there, on a tray ready - with another 5 other trays of drinks. So I grabbed them myself in the end.It boils down to a lack of staff (although the place was not busy at all), but if the place is trying to encourage using the app, it needs more organisation. There was absolutely no teamwork between staff. Although the lady who served the food didn't help in the slightest, she was probably doing twice the amount of work than any of the other floor staff, the manager (I guessed is the manger due to his different coloured shirt) barely did anything. And the ladies at the bar... I don't know why they were struggling to serve the drinks because there were 2 of them, which was more than there were serving food I don't mind waiting a bit longer for things during the time of the pandemic, it's expected these days but I shouldn't be recieving my food before my drink. I only wanted a coke.

We often visit here, we are huge fans of the service and food, it's never dissapointing. However today I had a small issue with my order, only in the way I wanted it cooking and Chloe when above and beyond to get in sorted. Chloe was professional yet very personable, made me feel like my request wasnt an issue, thanks for that.Thanks Chloe, Wetherspoons are lucky to have someone like you there :)From your happy customers.

Just been to weather-spoons in Poynton for a nice tea it was very busy and the first time I had to wait outside for a table but we got in it was nice and social distanced just went with some family I had a small margarita pizza with a pudding which was a large warm chocolate brownie with ice cream for £1.80 half price because of the eat out to help out. 1 of my family members had lasagne and 1 had a veggie burger with chilli. The toilets were very clean and so was the whole building and the staff was very helpful.

We enjoyed a family meal here on the government scheme. We ordered through the app which worked well. The staff try hard to ensure social distancing. The only fault is you have to walk across the pub for milk & conderments which means you come in to contact with more people than you need to.

Light & airy compared to most this Wetherspoons does exactly what it says on the tin - great food and drink at even better prices. It's also fun to watch posh folk pretending to not be in spoons. Anyway,ambience aside, two adults and an 11 year old dined for £17 thanks to Chancellor Sunak .Despite how busy the place was it was clean and we were served promptly via the app . One tiny fly in the ointment ..........condiments or lack of them! Made me smile when a family opposite nipped out to Aldi for a bottle of Ketchup. Ho hum you cant win them all!

Regularly visit this pub every few weeks for food and drinks always great no complaints, social distancing measures are working great here too.

Went for food with my wife daughter and our puppy. Cannot believe wetherspoons do not allow dogs at this pub with such a large outside space. Shame on you wetherspoons.

This pub and the company are disgusting, I came here from quite away to meet with family to try and cheer me up abit after losing my dad. Only to get a letter after a week for a parking fine to say we had been there more than 3 hours, I rang euro parking to explain we parked in disability to the right where you can't see any signs as I have looked on street map, the only sign is coming into the car park on the left but if you come in from the right you don't notice it. We come in from the right straight to the right and never saw a sign. And euro said wetherspoons could override the parking fine as its them what employ them.. And surprise wetherspoons didn't want to know.. You obviously don't care about your customers its just money you are bothered about it we didn't just spend 50 pound in your pub, you also had 45 off us for parking to come in your pub.. And I bet I don't hear nothing over this matter, just another greedy company and not bothered about its customers!!!

Enjoyed my meal and drinks here with a friend but find £75 each for overstaying 3 hour parking restriction that neither one of us had noticed, now or on previous occasions. YOU NEED SIGNS INSIDE THE PUB TOO!!! Landlord very rude put phone down on my friend when they complained. Now have a PCN from euro car parks.

Don’t go here unless you want a £75 parking fine when you park in the car park for more than three hours enjoying yourself with friends. The food and service were not that good anyway. When the manager was questioned about it, he was not interested & he put the phone down on us. Great service.Would not recommend!

called in last night for a beer but found vomit on the stairs up to the ladies toilets and then found the bathroom to have several cubicles in a terrible state. Back in the bar there was food and serviettes on the floor . The place needed a thorough clean

Met here on a Saturday lunchtime with family. With Weatherspoons you know what you are getting. It maybe cheap,& cheerful but I have always found it to be good value for money. The Kingfisher was no exception. The food was served extremely quickly by efficient & friendly staff. The premises were quite airy & bright and I would suggest good for young families. Car parking was at a premium but we were able to park free for 3 hours maximum. All in all a very good experience. I'm sure we will visit again.

We went on fish Friday, generous portions with nicely crisped batter. We were on table 38, with bucket chairs. These were vinyl covered cushions, one with vinyl worn away, one with it showing wear. One nearby table (varnished wood top) had worn down varnish. Furniture refurb ovrdue

We called here for breakfast on a Sunday morning in October.We went for the American breakfast and large standard breakfast which we've never tried before at a Wetherspoons. Both were fine with no problems, just like most Wetherspoons food.Note that the car park is quite small and the spaces are tight so it's difficult turning round even in a medium sized car.

We have been a few times recently and each time have found the staff to be excellent, fast service at the bar and helpful staff serving the food. On our last visit we all had sirloin steak which was on special at the bar, As good a steak as we have ever had and very well cooked. My philosophy in the Wetherspoons brand has always been you get what you pay for. I m not a fan of leaving reviews due to the fact I work in the hospitality industry. Tonight though was the first time I had tried the curry night deal. I know the curry obviously comes out of a packet into the microwave, hence the price tag but the crispy naan bread was a new one on me. My biggest frustration was after selecting the warm chocolate brownie for dessert, after viewing it on the pass for a good 10 minutes, I made the decision to collect it myself and serve it to the table I was sat at, despite no other food waiting there. My frustration is that having worked all Xmas service people, I missed the opportunity to be waited on. One of the kitchen team did say he d radioed a member of staff but there’s only so many times Ice cream can be walked past before it melts completely. The same kitchen team member did bring me more ice cream very apologetically and the table check was perfectly completed by myself of course I will return but would rather not serve myself next time. Staff are always friendly especially Donald who served us the last time.Would recommend this outlet to anyone wanting to try their hand on waiting on tables free of charge.Shame Donald was having a night off!!

Poynton has never got over the fact that it is outside the Golden Triangle of wealth that is Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Altrincham. Although it has attracted a Waitrose and a number of pricey boutiques, bars and restaurants, most people passing through it, curse it for organising one of the country's most ill-thought out traffic management systems, that causes traffic queues into it at any time of day.

Actually joined trip advisor to write this review- the plates are the dirtiest I’ve ever encountered in a food establishment - feel underneath people & there’s countless food residue from countless meals served on the same plate before you - the blue flower pattern on top makes it impossible to see how contaminated the plate ( to be fair good ) food you put in your mouth is - the actual tables, bar area carpets etc. all EXTREMELY clean which may be the reason why so many people haven’t noticed how dirty the food plates really are - mentioned to a couple of staff, who cited pot wash issues & a manager who changed our plates - when we were leaving I purposely checked the plates of a table nearby - again filthy - there’s so much food stuck from previous meals you can’t feel the smooth ceramic surface really wanted to shout everyone to check their plates on our way out as everyone sat in there was clearly oblivious. Can’t imagine how dirty the kitchen & equipment being out of sight from the public must be as the chefs deem it acceptable to plate up cooked food onto these contaminated plates. It’s our second time eating there - same thing last time happened ( we’d hoped it was a one off ) - clearly not a pot wash issue but Chefs who’s hygiene levels are non existent. Whilst parking fines, food service etc. are relative - health & hygiene is so much more important. This is what happens when the front of house staff or general manager can’t confront the head chef/kitchen - i.e Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares - it’s not the kids in the pot wash - it’s the chefs in charge of the kitchen & they clearly don’t give a hoot how clean your plates are people to put the food they cook on them apologies to whom may get my leftovers stuck on their plate next

Firstly we always park in the public car park to avoid any parking fines. Service was excellent as usual although it was fairly busy. There are always plenty of staff behind the bar and clearing tables etc. Usual good value and food served nice and hot and good portions. Will definitely be back.

Please do not go here. We had a parking fine for overstaying our time limit!!!!! Unbelievable

Went for a cheap meal one evening. Ended up costing a fortune because we stayed for longer than 3 hours in the car park. Wetherspoons not interested. Appeal rejected.

Food quality was OK but some items cold and should have been hot. drink machines not working properly ie coffee was OK but chocolate leaked unpredictabley and could have burnt you. staff very good although the manager didn't seem customer focused.

I was treated to breakfast at The Kingfisher yesterday by my wife and eldest daughter. Food was quickly served, very tasty and service was excellent. Thank you, a very pleasant morning.

First and foremost, I appreciated the full refund, but much deserved.

Went for an early lunch. Changed tables a couple of times because of spillages and food debris on the floor. I ordered the vegan salad with extra roast vegetables. Found myself chewing a piece of bacon. On complaining to a waitress my salad was removed with chewed bacon. Waitress was 'really, really sorry' and offered a free dessert. How does that help? We had to ask for a refund on the uneaten salad. There was apparently no manager on the premises. Waitress became sulky. We left shaken and hungry. My husband's chicken was acceptable.

Went for dinner with family and were served very quickly by the ever efficient bar staff.

We came into eat expecting to get great service like always and I was greeted by a rude lady with curly hair on the 23/9/19 at table 54 at half five in the afternoon we ordered as usually and then are food came (really good may I add) but was then given it with a hard thud to the table and same came with all the other plates, we was the told to enjoy in a rude manner and I comment was made in a rude and inappropriate way and also not needed way, we come in a lot and don’t get this kind of Service But if I come in and this lady is in I will be refusing to be served by her.

Family meal of 15 ended with 4 of us getting a £75 parking tickets. Totalling £300 on top of the £200 plus that was paid for the meal.

I visited the Kingfisher Puba week or so ago. I am a disabled driver/person. I DID NOT see any signage to say 3hours maximum. When one has to deal with wheel chairs and walking sticks in the rain then I think it's very unfair that we are given the same time as fully mobile persons. I also think there should be some kind of warning from the staff of Wheatherspoons/Kingfisher.This was my first time there and I will never return to this pub again. Its very painful to pay a fine of £75 when you go out for a meal and park in the car park where you are eating. It makes for a very expensive meal.

I have been a loyal wetherspoons customer for many years , and last month went to the kingfisher to meet some friends , we stayed in the pub for 3 hours and twenty minutes , hardly excessive when meeting friends.

We often visit the Kingfisher & have always been pleased with the food & service.
