Great food and drink. Big portions!

Nice warm family pub that is surprisingly bigger than it looks outside. It's not a Wetherspoons but operates near enough the same (Actually the food here is far better).

It used to be a spoons bar , but got taken over by a local company , tbh I can't fault it ,yes its tired and the same same decor from the spoon's days , but it as the saying goes cheaper than chips . They serve food till 8 pm , but as being a town centre bar, the custom dies of about then. If you're looking for half decent grub and an extrodaly cheap drinks you can do no wrong by visiting here . It's wheelchair friendly, well I say that but you need a person to open the door or you can't get in

want 2 make lots of friends at a low price?? come to king johns tavern!! they dont care how drunk u get and they play lots of funky music so u can dance the night away!!! come on down and be my friend please - i will buy u all the drinks u want i am just so lonely

Food top notch cheap drinks. But staff could do retraining customer service is not their strongest priority

3 stars because,the entire pub needs a good clean,carpets are dingy,tables are always sticky ,the food on the other hand is always great 👍and you're sure to get cheap pints and friendly service.

Used to love the place when it was a Wetherspoons pub, but really empty now.

Great place to enjoy a delicious lunch for very reasonable price, all burgers include a soft drink in the price which is a bonus. Friendly service.

Never been to Hartlepool for many many yrs sister and myself went to have some scran was nice way to many chips for me like but all day breakfast was ok

Cheap and cheerful bar with some ales and reasonable priced food, some of which is excellent. Edit. My silly mistake, didn't register the New Era as I have had it and I was focused on looking for new beers. Definitely worth popping back in to check out the beers and I will again soon. Ye, back in today and three new beers in. Great rotation of beer selection. Doh. Back in today and had food for the first time. Great value and very tasty. Also I have had some excellent beers in here, lots of Vaux and Rudgate lately.

The place to meet up after you've been shopping. Refillable tea and coffee or a cheap and surprisingly nice meal. The alcohol isn't as cheap as it used to be.

It's a great place for the family. Great staff always very helpful and happy to you, and a great atmosphere, Great food and fine drinks at a price you can afford.. Ive been going they for years and many more visits is on my cards

Very dated aesthetic but the revamped menu is great, genuinely one of the best hot shot parmos I've had and the quantity is astounding

Toilets are a disgrace, bar area needs a total deep clean.

The paces is nice to go for a drink with friends and family and you can take your dog in the beer garden when it nice summer whether in king John's pub

Cozy place, decent food, convenient to Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.

If you want great home cooked food then this is the place..our food was delicious with huge portions and great value for money...Next time I'm visiting we'll be dropping in for breakfast 😋

Bit dissapoiting when we called in for a lunchtime meal. Discovered that it was no longer a Wetherspoons and the food didn't look up to scratch, so decided not to eat. Went back to Seaton Carew and bought some fish & chips from Elizebeths Way.

Really nice staff made you feel welcome didn't have any food, I haven't been in for years and will be going back 👍.

Food is amazing. Portions are absolutely huge too big for one person best parmo av had from anywere. Chips are homemade and so good.

The bar staff was so rude for a young girl to busy talking to her freind to serve me no please thank you or nothing even when the food came no please thank you even the daughter commented and said how rude is she .

Nice but the tables were very greasy

I was very disappointed as I was refused when trying to buy a glass of water for my dog (which is a service dog for epilepsy) in over 20 degree heat! They did not ask why he was with me then proceed to stand over me as I was saying bye to the people I was with as i was told the dog had to leave immediately! Very sad to be made feel so uncomfortable.

Walked in and went to grab a table. As we walked past every table they looked dirty and sticky. We finally found a table that looked “clean” and sat down and opened the menu. Well I say opened it, we had to peel it open as it was filthy; took a menu from another table and it was exactly the same I couldn’t stay any longer so we left Can’t imagine what else I would have found if we looked, but I don’t imagine it would have taken long if we tried

First time visiting this pub, friendly staff, really nice food. Chips are to die for. Plenty of seating, nice and spaced out. Reasonably priced 100% definitely recommend

Can't go wrong for the price of food and drink. I got the jacket potato from the deli menu. Not many places you can get a good portioned meal with a drink (non alcoholic) for under £6 and it was really tasty! Staff are always polite and helpful no matter how busy they are. I enjoy visiting as it does have a nice atmosphere plus a good sized beer garden for people to enjoy

Nice pub in Hartlepool with a good range of cider

Same inside the pub when it first opened a bit dated but staff are lovely and do their job well and since people with children can't stay all day men have toned down language and voices it's a nice place to go and have something to eat and a couple of drinks would definitely recommend to everyone

Iv been going in here for 20 year and av never experience what i did there was half hour wait on food witch we waited had a lovly paint then one of our meals came out then 2 more meal was delay all got sever at till.same time our 2 meals come out half hour after but in mean time family of 5 got there food and was told was no wait so i ask the young girl where my food was it was so loud people drinking eatting n enjoying there selfs the girl couldnt explain y family of 5 one been in 20 mintres got all there food before us and she walked away and said i was shouting you couldnt hear your self think so we ask manager to come over to sort it out and he was lovly he said sorry but still.didnt reslied that his staff was out of order was really bad service that day

Think iv only been in 3 times in over 15 Yr, the decor is the same, the ppl r the same, the smell is the same, between the royal and this placethey could manage a star between them, ROTTEN...

Wether spoons. Good selection of beers at reduced prices. Food is quite good, consistent and pretty good value

I purchased a meal with drink included ..the drink never arrived no explanation..rip off place ..its more like a kids creche now .avoid it .toilets doors do not even lock...

Fantastic parmo usually go else where for them, till I tried these from here amazing, I'm sold on these parmos compliments to the chef.

Bar staff are rude, the Isaac Wilson in Middlesbrough the bar staff are much nicer and a better service.

Breakfast superb well cooked and tasty well done.

Nice cabin chicken n chips with salad

Food was great but slightly upset because me and my Daughter come here all the time for food and drinks we bring the kids because its family friendly. My daughter has been served all the time time by the staff, who even come and speak to her but for some reason she's I'D and refused. Shes been coming here for years. The girls said she never seen her before didn't recognise her or hadn't even seen the kids before. I was very shocked I guess we won't be coming again!!!
