Wonderful helpful staff really friendly and helpful. The steak was delicious and cooked perfectly . My husband enjoyed the pie the pastry wasn't too thick. This was a return as we had come across the place 2days before by accident and were impressed

My brother treated me to Lunch here yesterday, and as far as I can make out, presumably mainly from other review forums, this is about the best axis of price to quality for Sunday lunch in the city (its nearest rival the Paul Pry is being refurbished). We both opted for the beef, which was a generous amount of meat, topped with a Yorkshire pud, which contained a large croquet of beef brisket. A generous mix of greens and roots and a nice deep flavoured gravy. Delicious, and only if i was being super picky would I note that the beef was cut along the grain instead of across it, but this is increasingly common these days as if it is fashionable. As a pair of trained chefs, neither of us would serve like that, but it was otherwise beautifully presented. We had two sides but needn't have, as the plateful itself was filling. The Sticky toffee and Eton Mess puds were also pleasing on the eye and palette. £25 for 2 courses of a Sunday for this level of cookery and service is the new acceptable. I would love to go back some time soon this year.

Excellent food and great service with really friendly atmosphere. All 3 meals perfectly flavoured. I had Lamb Shank with Minted Mash, my wife had a steak and my son had a beef and Stilton pie with garlic mash. All washed down with an excellent bottle of house Red Rioja. Have been many times before and it’s always consistently excellent

Food was good ,however, 3 of our party got covered in dog poop left under table by an anti social dog- shortly afterwards a girl on an opposite table got dog poop over her shoes and finally another member of our party encountered it in the ladies loo- The worst part about it was th management buried their head in the sand and didn’t really apologise much-. I am aware that this is a dog friendly pub but this happened upstairs Dogs could have a dog zone!!! Kept away from diners

We visited in October and were made most welcome by Darren and all his staff were also excellent. My husband uses a wheelchair and Darren and his staff did not hesitate to assist with a ramp at the front door. We stayed for Sunday lunch which was absolutely excellent in every way. We would certainly give Darren 5 stars. He is a very hospitable host and always cheerful and accommodating. We will return for his Sunday Lunch even though we live in Gloucester. D and S.

This pub is beautiful inside and out. It's old and very cosy. We ate Sunday lunch here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was first class, generous portions, nice variety, tasty and hot. Your can see the skeleton through the glass floor to the dungeon chamber, an elderly gentleman came over and told us the history of this. We sat by the log burner fire, it was so warm and relaxing on a cold rainy day. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you to you all ❤️ highly recommended

This has not been open as a pub for very long but it does hold on to it historic roots. There is a good selection of hand pulled beers to choose from and a basic menu of different types of pie which are not made on the premises.

Stumbled across this 16th century inn and were tempted in by their promise of ‘award winning pies’. OMG they’re not kidding - the best pie I’ve had in all my 60 years (sorry mum!). Beautiful atmospheric inn steeped in history, charming staff and the pies … well, enough said! Been under new ownership since May and they have got it down to a tee - huge congratulations! And they’re dog friendly too, and brought a bowl of water over for our dog without being asked. Just sorry we won’t have time to come back again. Loved it!

The stunning facade of this historic building made it virtually impossible to walk past, and once inside the whole experience was just as impressive. Breathtaking architecture, complimented by tasteful period artefacts, sympathetic lighting and twickling candle light made me feel like I had stepped back in time. There was a warm welcome by the attentive staff and knowledgeable help selecting from the fantastic range of well kept ales. The food was great too, including an imaginative selection of pies and flavoured mash. I'd recommend the moo and bloo (Steak and blue cheese pie) with horseradish mash. The owner was very friendly and obviously has a keen eye for detail, because the whole experience was superb. Not just recommended, but worth going out of your way to find.

We were just popping in for a drink after lunch, sitting in cosy corner by the fire. The atmosphere was vibrant when we sat down and we just ending up in conversation with the people around us. The people around us changed through the afternoon but the atmosphere stayed as the friendly chatty mood continued but supported by the great team serving at the bar. Thank you to Cordelia and the guys for a great afternoon.

Popped my head in and was welcomed warmly by the lady behind the bar. 10/10 service and would come again any day of the week. Pegs on the bar also came in handy when hanging up my coats which was a nice touch.

Updated April 2025 Delighted at the staff cutting long straws in half for each of my little girls, without being asked to, that was lovely. Every parent knows young kids spill drinks with long straws and small glasses. Updated June 2024 Staff are lovely, friendly and personable. There's a perfect relaxed but still professional feel to the place. My daughters favourite place to go for a drink and a snack in Worcester. Staff are amazing, food tastes great. Baby Changing facility is 2nd to none.
