Second-hand bookshops in Worcester appear to be the exclusive province of the Charity sector. Of these, Snowdrops is easily the best, both in stock and presentation; prices are acceptably reasonable. The café makes a good place to review your finds and persuade yourself to buy a couple more that you were feeling too mean to buy outright... [The bookspine counter is worth a visit all by itself.]

Nice cafe area in upstairs bookshop area. Really friendly helpful staff. Delicious food and chocolaty hot chocolate. Large filling portions. Extremely reasonable prices which support a worthwhile cause. Why would you go for lunch anywhere else? I had a bacon, cheese and cranberry toastie which was packed with filling alongside a salad and tortillas for less than £6.

I think it's a great bookshop, but doesn't reflect charity shop prices when considering some items. As a warhammer collecter, I find the books qre often the same cost to buy on ebay and sometimes higher which seems like an odd decision to me. I continue to come back due to thr selection of books, but I wonder if the prices should reflect the charity aspect of the shop.

There are less and less actual charity shops now, just boutique shops aiming for a totally different market. ‘Every little helps’ for a cause is no longer good enough. The quality must be beyond pristine so the price can be as high as possible. Sadly this store is an example of that. It is indeed pristine, the layout is fantastic, the book selection, impressive, and there is even a café on the top floor. There’s no heart though. I worked for several years as a Manager of several charity shops in Worcestershire and Birmingham when the boutique shops were starting to become the ‘in thing’ so I’ve seen this from both sides of the coin. When working in the ‘boutique-y’ shops I remember how we alienated some of our regular customers, baffled by such high prices for second hand goods. I remember sending lesser quality goods to other shops who had not yet succumbed to the ‘boutique’ label so we used as much as possible for the cause and ragged whatever could not be sold, picking up a few extra pounds along the way. This it seems no longer necessarily happens. I donated to this store on St. Swithin’s Street once before, which were gratefully accepted. They were brand new, shiny books that I had never got around to reading. This time myself and my partner walked with several heavy bags from our home up to the store, got to the desk and I said “we have brought you some donations”. There was an awkward silence from the lady at the desk as if to say “why have you brought us donations”. We’re both in our early 30s and turned up in tidy but casual clothing, I think there was an instant judgment that guys like us couldn’t possibly be bringing to the cause the sort of quality donations required to dazzle and sparkle. What was disappointing is we didn’t even get a “hello”, just a very swift run down of what the store “could not take”. The lady then begrudgingly came over as we stood there aimlessly and asked if she could have a “quick check” of what we had, which consisted of her peering gingerly into one of five bags, as if there were termites in there or something and confirming what we’d already worked out, that they wouldn’t be taking any of our donations. I stress that she didn’t even really look. She had made up her mind the moment she saw us. I tried in vain to explain that there were good quality clothes in there (which there were) amongst items they could rag (and get money for) and other items to potentially pass on to other Hospice stores, but it was futile. The whole experience was frustrating and demeaning and whilst an apology was offered and a direction to take the items to another shop nearby, it’s disappointing that this is the attitude given when donating to many charitable causes now. I don’t blame the volunteers. They give up their time and work extremely hard for wonderful causes (including St. Richard’s Hospice) and have strict instructions of what to accept and what not to accept, although this lady could of handled the situation with a lot more tact. Perhaps I should of known better, considering the ‘high brow’ facade of this particular store but I have been very discouraged from bothering to donate ever again to stores like these and that can’t be a good message to leave to individuals trying to help your cause. We will certainly not be returning here. We are clearly beneath it and not worthy enough to support it.

This delightful café is located on the first floor of the charity shop and shares the space with an interesting book section, which is surprisingly well stocked. Some tempting homemade dishes on display, both savoury and sweet. I intended to treat myself to the coffee and hazelnut cake but my main course was filling enough, maybe next time. The main courses are well garnished and very reasonably priced. The only negative was the lack of toilets, at least we could not find any. We will visit again.

Last time I was here, Lakeland occupied this site, so I was very pleasantly surprised by the enormous amount of books that were on display. Snowdrops Cafe occupies the front part of the first floor - with seating that includes a long breakfast type bar that overlooks the street. Great for people watching 👀😬👋 Only had a large latte but the triple shot of coffee was just perfect - really good, served in crockery cups, not single use disposable paper cups - Sure you can guess which coffee shops I am NOT referring to! On my list of coffee shops to visit. Food looked great but I didn’t want to eat tho on next visit I suspect I will. 👍👍😂

Lovely atmosphere in a bookshop/charity shop. Light and airy with small menu. Had a bacon and Brie toastie with cranberry sauce. Unfortunately there was way too much sauce as it completely overwhelmed the rest of the ingredients but it was soon taken off with a knife. It was well presented and the coleslaw was to die for...could quite happily just had a plate of that for lunch. Prices were reasonable and service was fairly quick. Would definitely go again so can recommend this place.

Good charity shop but used clothes prices are astronomical, what a lot of charity shops don't realise is 1. the items they are selling are used & have potentially 70/80% of the clothes lifespan already gone & 2. a lot of the buyers like myself are on low income & buy these clothes because we can't afford to buy new ones, it should work both ways in my opinion (a symbiotic relationship) we're helping the charity but they should also be helping their customers too, this is not don'e here!

Just needed a cup of tea and a rest after missing my train. It's really cool place, kind of old style classic - the way a train station cafe was decades ago. I had my tea, closed my eyes and imagined I was on the set of 'Brief Encounter.' Magic. Thank you Cafe Loco for a few minutes of peace, a concerned question as I was out of breadth and a welcoming smile.
