The King and Queen in Brighton and Hove

This is a sizeable pub with multiple screens where you can watch sports. There are not a lot of venues like this in Brighton.

Great Atmosphere, Nice Drinks always had a great time.As my Japanese friend said やばい or simply 10 vu 10!!!

I would highly recommend this venue for party hire. We booked the banquet hall and it was amazing. All of our guests remarked on how beautiful it was. The acoustics in the room gave something extra special to the live band and DJ. We had a wonderful buffet that had such a wide variety of food, all freshly cooked and presented so well, excellentvaluefor money. Communication with the proprietor before the event, was seamless. On the night the staff were absolutely brilliant, so happy to help and all with smiles. If you're looking for a special venue, this is it. A most memorable occasion!!

Have been coming here for a couple of years now and I’m honestly not sure why as the security staff are awful. They address you in a patronising tone and seem to have some weird god/superiority complex. It’s disrespectful and quite frankly appalling customer service. There are so many other pubs and bars in Brighton to support so King and Queens definitely won’t be getting any of my money and I would encourage others to do the same until they improve their stinking attitude.

Lovely setting with seating outside and inside. Drinks were ordered on the app and didn't take more than 5 minutes to arrive.Staff had masks on and we were asked to show that we had checked in on the track and trace app when we arrived. It was the most covid secure venue I have attended in Brighton!We will return.

The staff served the wrong drink to us. And instead of apologising for them he made us pay and hostily said if we didn’t he would kick us out. This is absolutely not how customer service should work- he was aggressive and unfair. The fault of the manager should not be payed by the customers, the security gaurdsare aggressive and unreasonable. The low prices are good but the rest of the experience is awful 0 stars

What a beautiful olde world pub! Great beers and although we didn’t eat there, the food looked amazing! Staff extremely helpful & happy, nothing was too much trouble. A beautiful extensive outside area. Just lovely 🌻💜🌻

Usually have a good time here but yesterday I felt so let down. I was with 3 friends and we arrived at 4pm and sat outside. A couple of hours later we asked a waitress if we could move inside and she said yes, but when we began to move, the manager Martin came and shouted at us to sit down and that noone is allowed to move, with no explanation. I asked why and he ignored me. We waited around 10 minutes before one of my friends asked him why we can't move inside and he ignored him and kept saying ' Just no' . I then went and asked him for a reason as to why we couldn't go inside when there were plenty of empty tables and he shouted at me 'This is the last time I'm saying this- you can't go inside now stop asking me.' I felt embarassed and as though I was a child. He treated my friends and I with no respect. Really disappointed.

The first night out with my housemates after lockdown before they go home for Xmas - Claire made the whole night super amazing and welcoming and would recommend. Very student friendly place. Would come back again and again!!!!

He estado viniendo a este pub durante mucho tiempo y podría decirse que solía ser el mejor de Brighton. Very spacious inside and out in the yarden. Dog friendly outside, not sure about inside. No life or character.

Visité este pub para ver a mis amigos para una despedida final de su fallecimiento. Tan pronto como llegué al pub tuve que ir al baño y no pude porque soy discapacitado e increíblemente no tienen un baño para discapacitados, lo cual me parece increíble. Hablé con el gerente que acaba de decir que no dimos uno y que no estamos pensando en instalar un inodoro para discapacitados. Para ser honesto, me sorprendió su actitud. Así que tuve que irme y despedirme de mis amigos que estaban molestos por esto y me rompió el corazón porque no podía tener una despedida para mi difunto amigo. It’s a decent pub to watch sport definitely. You get a lot of people and some good atmosphere. Drinks are low price compared to a lot of Brighton and they offer some traditional pub stuff like pool. If you’re looking to play pool however: bring your own cash as somehow they don’t do cash back at the bar despite having several cash only machines including pool. The cues are also woeful. I don’t expect a professional cue at a pub, but I would like one that’s not broken and some chalk from this century. Literally unplayable with most of them. It’s 2020 - update your machines to take card, or offer cash back like the 00’s. Don’t worry expect a premium pub but make some basic changes and it could be good,

used to frequent this pub over 20 years ago and so pleased to discover on a rare visit south last week that its still much the same , spacious with lots of TV;s an outside courtyard and reasonable prices (for Brighton!)

Fui a ver el partido de Inglaterra aquí ayer, con amigos y familiares. Me estaba sirviendo totalmente mientras le decía a su personal que nos pidiera que nos fuéramos. Incluso fue tan lejos como para llamar a mi esposa mentirosa cuando ella le preguntó por qué no había dicho nada antes. Para empeorar las cosas, llamó a cuatro gorilas para que nos escoltaran fuera del pub mientras hacía un gesto con la mano del hijo mayor (no se me permite escribir la palabra, pero estoy seguro de que lo resolverá). Recuerde que este es un grupo en el que las edades oscilaban entre 14 y 72 años, casi sin problemas.Entonces, si desea que alguien tome su dinero y luego lo eche cuando lo desee, este es el lugar perfecto para beber.

Worth a visit if you are passing doesn't feature on my regular list but Brighton has incredible competion for places to go Certainly years ago had a bit of a dodgy reputation as a place to get drugs but didn't see any evidence of that this time

As a uni student, this place is my regular and Thursday night is student night. The staff and young and friendly and if you are looking for fancy cooking and expensive champagne this may not be the place for you. It has big screens for sports fans, a dj for the party people and a big courtyard garden for the smokers and sun lovers. Make no mistake this is a young persons/ sports fans pub. But if you are up for a night of have drinks and fun with friends then this is the place to go.

This is a very impressive pub, loads of character and charm. It is very popular for sport with massive big screens. We actually had a team meeting there in a room upstairs. The service we got from the GM, Mark and his team was spot on. well worth a visit.

A woman called something like Malina, maybe a bit of a language barrier but she was very helpful and helped with our very confusing order, thank you:)

Didn’t have any plans to come here but as I’m on a random trip it ended up as the venue for the second half of Liverpool v Spurs. Didn’t expect it to be as busy as it was but service was quick and friendly, place was clean and tidy and a great friendly atmosphere between both sets of fans!

The place was entertaining and engaging. I like the fact that it was huge and they have all the football matches for this month. But the pool sometimes was not working. So I had to call the staff during the game.

Big place that is ok but either staff are not trained on drinks or they are having a laugh serving Bailey's at over £3 in a 25ml shot. Was always taught Bailey's was a 50ml ever since I started working in pubs many moons ago.

We popped in here for a quick drink and to watch a football game after having had it recommended by the restaurant we'd just eaten in. Great atmosphere and brilliant screens to watch the games on! Wish we had a pub like this where i live!

The king&queen; is a good place to visit and drink wine .It is very secure place because the bouncers are strict .Also i like their decor like traditional design.In addition they have tasty burgers but, the restaurant normally closes at 6 pm .Also they have lovely service when you want to drink anything.While i was there i met foreign people and got good English conversation practise .Finally,i recommend everyone to visit this place.

Watched the England qauter final match here against Sweden atmosphere was brilliant couldn’t have watched it in a better place loved the madness of the place we had debated watching at Luna beach but we were so happy we chose to come here everyone was friendly and welcoming would highly recommend here for a sporting event

Big lively pub with Big TV and pool tables. Great old oak decor Good selection of beers and food. It has a good size outside area too.

The old King and Queens is an English Pub exactly the way it should be! Lots of drinks, very big and there are pool tables, table football and you can play dart. It is an awesome Pub in the center of Brighton and it‘s alway a go to for me if I visit Brighton again. The only thing they should improve is that the toilets tend to be a little dirty when it‘s busy. They have plenty of events there as well such as karaoke nights, live music and you can go see all sorts of football games.

We came in wanting to watch second half of national league play off semi final when premiership game showing. Manager couldn’t have been more helpful, finding us a spot in the pub where he could put the match on one of the screens. Nice food and a good selection of beers in a great pub.

When I went into this pub on Easter Sunday I simply wanted somewhere I could watch the 2 games of football that were on that afternoon and get a bite to eat. This place did not disappoint. It caters for sports fans with huge screens and tvs everywhere. The atmosphere was good and my fish and chips were very satisfying.

Bouncers at door on arrival spoke volumes. Went for a private party so our area was ok. Nice buffet. However in the main bar experienced rude staff who gave service with a grimace particularly one female, who when poured a short measured pint took huge offence when asked to top it up. As for the filthy toilet area where seats hanging off and no locks on doors and no soap towels or tissue filthy floor too discusting even by students standard I would think. I'm told this is the crowd who this pub is aimed for... Good luck to them ....

Popped in on Saturday to watch a couple of 6Nations games. 2 huge screens at each end of bar with numerous TV’s spread around. Good atmosphere, lots of choice with draft beer. Our dog was made welcome

Pub is nice but nothing special. Quite why someone has built a pub to look like an old tudor Hall and then serve average beer I do not know. Lots of screens for sports but would not be my first choice.

Terrible customer service, left really dissapointed by staff and managment, and never going back and would not reccoment for anyone as well, espcially that it supposed to be a really good pub and I heard some good things about it before, but when me and my friends went there we were really schoked that the place was so below its expectations and ratings.

We popped in here after the Thai Festival to see the end of Soccer Saturday and the United game that followed and we were glad we did. The staff were very friendly and service was rapid considering how busy it was. The 18th century building and courtyard is beautiful and the food that came out looked appetising too. This has now become my favourite pub in Brighton.

It is a good place to visit with friends if you want to have fun. But sometimes there are too many people and you have to wait a long time at the bar.The drinks were fresh and cold. The best thing there is, in my opinion, the karaoke. You can have fun with your friends and other people. Would definitely recommend if you want to have a good start of your night out!

Tipico Pub Britannico con arredamento in legno e l'atmosfera che ti fa sentire in UK. Tavoli con giochi arcade degli anni 70, c'è di tutto da mangiare e da bere. Consiglio altamente.

Lovely old pub not too far from the seafront. Good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Food cooked well and again, not too overpriced. The outside seating area is pretty large and tucked away just off the main road, so you don't get too much traffic noise. Staff are friendly and accommodating.

The pub is very nice, classic English. It's perfect for a football night even though during big matches it becomes too packed!

This pub is beautiful! It's huge and seating is over a few floors. Monday to Thursday they have many drink deals on so if you don't want to spend much there's always something to get. The King and Queen also serve food. My friends and I had nachos to share and they were very good! Covered in cheese, jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole and salsa! It's not to expensive either and during the day you can definitely find a table as there is lots of seating. Also if you love sports most of the football games are shown here, however it does get very busy!

went in afternoon march 22 and last orders same day.prices ok about £7.50 for 2 lagers plus multiple sports screens including big projector screen,assume it gets very busy at the weekend ,wasnt too busy at 1030 on a weds after england germany but worth a visit to see the stained glass windows and high ceilings

We booked the King & Queen for an 80th Birthday Party.We had the Function Room and paid around £130 for the hire, this was from 9am - 12pm so plenty of time to come in and decorate beforehand. The price included the room hire and bar staff with our own bar so we were completely separate from the rest of the pub.The manager was great and went through everything with us first, we chose to go with the pub buffet menu at £5ph and there was plenty of food for everyone. I would recommend this venue for parties, as you have your own personal space and the room is comfortable.

The King and Queen is a big old pub that specialises in sport coverage. I visited with work colleagues and was struck at how big the place is. Staff were friendly and prices were decent too.

I was in Brighton for the weekend with the girls and it was a 6 nations weekend. On the Friday night we were recommended this pub to watch the Irish match. We got to the pub early and after a bit of moving back and forth we found seats in front of the screen for the match (this pub is really big!). We got a bit of pub grub here as well which was grand. There was a Liverpool match on as well which they were showing in the other half of the pub. When it came time for the English rugby match the place just packed out. So much so that they had to put bouncers on the door to let people in one by one and they had to ask if you were rugby or football and directed you to the correct side for that. But the atmosphere in the pub was great. It was a really great place for sport.

In my opinion, that was the best Pub I went while in Brighton. Broadcast sports, cold beer, good prices. There is an open-air space, pool table. Very nice place indeed.

My wife and I did not eat here so my comment applies only to this establishment as a drinking environment. We were looking for a pub with a good atmosphere for our last night in Brighton and asking a young man, we were offered the King and Queen as a possibility. It was very near the Prince's Pavilion and our hotel and the Pier and so easy to reach. At a brief first view, we were impressed by its half-timbered facade and its size. It is a large farmhouse dating from 1779 and converted to a large Tudor banqueting hall with a Minstrels' Gallery. If you like your sport, there are two huge TV screens relaying live sport. There are three pool tables upstairs, if I remember correctly. The building is full of dark wood, heraldry and round tables etc., and a curling staircase leading to the gallery.Importantly, we were greeted politely and pleasantly by a bubbly barmaid and other friendly staff and told that Thursday night was 'Students' Night' and that everyone qualified as such that evening. At that stage, the atmosphere was tranquil and laid-back and we talked to a couple of older fellow customers for whom it was the local. There was a selection of beer, lager and spirits at a cost of £2 from 7pm. It has to be borne in mind that Brighton is home to several university faculties and when we returned in the evening, it was thronging with students. We went upstairs where the barman was extremely polite and even deferential, finding us some tall chairs at the bar where most were standing or playing pool.We may be getting on, but, in our sixties, we thrive on a young and lively atmosphere where people are happy and not crude and violent and this is how the clientele came across to us. One young chap went out of his way to offer to take a photograph of us at a round table as our surname is Knight, and we were trying to set up an auto with the camera perched on a shelf! We almost felt like a king and a queen!

Met up with some mates who had come down for the weekend and have a few beers. Great pub for sports, loads of big screens so you can see the action from wherever you are. Food leaves a little bit to be desired. Didn't look like anything was made on-site and instead heated out of a packet. Drinks are very reasonably priced though. Bar staff weren't very attentive even when it was quiet.

This pub is BIG. We waited ten minutes and still had not been served! We only stayed because we were meeting 20 work colleagues there. When we asked someone if he was serving he said "no actually I'm going home "! When we pointed out that we had been waiting and were expecting lots of friends he relented and served us with good grace and saved the day otherwise we would have walked out and found somewhere else! Not a pub for the faint hearted but great atmosphere if you are looking for a good night out. Toilets are horrendous don't use them!

This pub offers a large range of drinks- average price for what you would expect. The outside area is huge and it's really nice to sit and relax during the day and soak up some sun, there are also heaters for when it's gets a bit chilly. There's loads of different rooms and they host a big range of events including showing sports, karaoke & seasonal events

Absolutely 2nd to none when it comes to watching sport. With two huge screens at either end of the bar plus numerous smaller TV's is dotted around the pub. Bar service was excellent despite a large crowd no one had to wait longer than a minute or so to be served. Excellent night. Look no further.!.

Visited due to funding pub on a Sky Sports, live football finder site. Building isn't particularly inviting, but interior is spacious and its definitely a 'lads' pub. Nice long bar area, although staff aren't particularly attentive. Good range of beers & snacks. Good venue for watching football, with very large screens.

Come here quite a lot for drinks and food. It's lively on week nights and has a good atmosphere with security there consistently which is good especially when there is a big football game screening. Karaoke night is fun too!

Our first trip to Brighton and we found this place quite by accident. Great atmosphere on a Thursday night. The place is huge and somewhat quirky. As you turn around from the bar and look behind you, you would think you were in a time warp and are stood in some medieval baronial hall - except the large screen TV reminds you that we are in the 21st century. Overall it was a good night with reasonable bar prices.

Been to Brighton a zillion times but never visited this pub. Tended to have stuck to the pubs in the lanes. Not now though that we have found this little (well defo not little) gem!!! Did not have anything to eat as already eaten lunch but the menu is vast and the food that was being ordered looked fab!! Will definitely be eating here on our next visit. Bar staff are extremely polite and friendly and prices for drinks are less than they charge in the lanes!!! A must if you a sports fan!

HUGE pub, mooooosive - and full of culture. Worth a visit for a soft drink just to have a look around. Service and atmosphere was great.

Myself and my husband went to Brighton for day we found this lovely friendly pub we had to wait 30mins .we were in no hurry just relaxing.it was well worth the wait lots of good quality food next time we go to Brighton we will heading there.

This is the perfect large pub, looks like a movie set. You will love it. Also has nice outdoor private courtyard. Nice staff, great drinks and had very good nachos platter. Overall love this historic place

Went there to watch the football, food was ok and screens plenty but some of the worst service on the planet.

Estábamos de visita en Brighton y paseando por el centro vimos el espectacular edificio que alberga este inmenso pub. Nos gustó, lo visitamos y después del paseo estuvimos comiendo.Gran variedad de cervezas tanto locales como de variadas procedencias. Si os gusta tomar cerveza tienen una tostada local que está muy buena.Las comidas buenas, para ser UK relación calidad precio digna, se puede comer y beber suficiente por unas 14 libras aproximadamente.Lo recomiendo sin ningún lugar a dudas. Los camareros amables y eficientes.Visitar todo el edificio vale la pena incluyendo la agradable terraza.

Honestly my favourite pub in Brighton ! Amazing atmosphere and great drinks prices - can get quite full and hard to find a table. Would still 100% recommend

Charming pub at the heart of Brighton that attracts a beautiful young crowd, and has improved its reputation of being 'chavy'. Now it feels civilised in every sense. Good selection of beers, and screens to watch the football, if there is any to watch. Despite me saying it's civilised, about a month ago I sat down on a chair that had chewing gum on it, which caused me a lot of stress, as it sticked to my black trousers. Maybe this could happen anywhere? I don't know. Staff should inspect chairs and tables better. Another problem I found was that it closes fairly early. Midnight I think. I'd push it to 1 am.

We were a group of 4. A portion served was half of the size that a main course would normally be. The chef wanted to do more pasta no quibble but the manager would not let him. The meal was 7:00 pm roughly 8/7/16. No money given back to make up for it and the food had to be paid for beforehand.

We only went in here because we were intrigued by the olde-worlde charm of the exterior.Its like stepping back in time; such a fantastic place with really quirky features (including the beer garden).We only stayed for a drink, but it was worth the time.
