Nice place comfortable nice staff interesting things to look at

Love the hare and hounds, food was gorgeous, very authentic Thai food.

The beer and food are always good at the H&H. My only real gripe is the (admittedly necessary) volume of music, often making it extremely difficult to have a conversation without straining your voice

Maybe they were ripping us off because we were tourists, but we paid 15 £ for a beer and a non-alcoholic beer. But besides the price, a decent local pub.

There's a whole festival of comedy festival upstairs!???! I've always loved this pub, but i'd never been up there, it's sort of hidden but there's a proper comedy venue, full of shows. Wtf when did this happen lol.

Maybe it was on off Sunday, but the pork belly roast came out with the worst potatoes I've ever had (cold, stale and wet). Most of the sides tasted as if they've been sitting out, which is strange since I waited 20min because a large party ordered in front of me. Shame because the pork belly was delicious. The pudding and most of the sides were just wet and awful. The beets and carrots were tasty, but barely had a forkful of each. Left hungry and got a wrap. Would not recommend for a Sunday roast, at £16.

Great pub! Outdoor seating to the front and back (heaters at the back) really nice vibe. There was a DJ there when we went (Friday night). Prices as you would expect for central Brighton. But a great feel, plenty of seating and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

The food was tasty, no complaints there. However, it was a bit disappointing to find out that Namo X... wasn't actually available despite being listed on the website. Also, we had a weird moment when we saw a bar staff member drop our Prawn spring roll on the floor and then put it back on the plate. Not the most reassuring experience.

A good mix of patrons, nice mix of draught and a warm atmosphere. 2nd visit was a lot busier on a Sunday and they offer a roast! Sat in the nooks outside 2nd time round, will visit again.

Fun, affordable and a friendly atmosphere. They have decent food and the Monday retro games night is definitely worth going to!

- A Nice Local Pub - I visited after work for some drinks with colleagues, this pub was lovely and inviting. The pub is very clean, there was plenty of seating, and the venue is spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and prices were reasonable.

Mulled wine is really bad. Sorry guys you need to find a better recipe

If you're after a great selection of pints and some great Thai food this pub is perfect. All the Thai food is amazing and reasonably priced. They have an awesome outdoor space as well which is great for winter as it's loads of huts with little heaters.

Aug 2023 Popped in for a quick drink as part of starting to explore Brighton for the first time. Had a selection of 3 Thai starters for £15 too. All very tasty.

Really enjoyed a roast dinner whilst my partner had a vegetarian option. Big portion of food and so many beers to chose from! Can't go wrong.

Nice looking bar but staff let it down in general - the guy in the pineapple hat on Pride night in particular was consistently rude and ignored customers, he was more about having his own party than the pub, it’s a shame but reflective of how quiet the bar was when everywhere was busy. Stayed for one drink only.

Great for a curry supper & a drink before going to the Duke of York's picturehouse to watch a movie.

Popped in at about 4pm is the desperate hope of lunch. Small selection but really tasty. Sat in the garden ... only down side was a rather unpleasant smelling drain... but hey the sun was shining!

When I asked if they let dogs in, they very enthusiastically told me they prefer them to humans. That’s my kind of place!

Nice boozer to drink in, but won’t be eating there again. Went for a Sunday roast, proper disappointing. Food took 60 mins to be served, and the pub was almost empty. Was way too salty and most of it was overcooked. Brighton’s got high roast standards, you need to up your game. Staff were apologetic but not that bothered. Chef could be heard swearing from the kitchen. One meal got missed off the order, despite being paid for. Got a cash refund as weren’t going to wait another 60 mins for it. All in all not the best

In a half empty place they serve you the drinks in plastic glasses during the day even, beer doesn't taste the same and it isn't good for the environment... Very disapointing

Loft from new girl meets pub from always sunny in philly. Great vibe with a unique drinks choice eg Bacardi slushy! Would recommend when down in the area. Big thanks to Tom, Shannon and Zora the amazing bar staff :) Dog friendly!!!!!

Hare and hound is a great spot, tables out the front when sunny (if you are lucky enough to get one). I think it's a shadow kitchen so there has been changed over the times I have been there, I think now it's Thai. Spacious enough outdoor seating for when it's raining and plenty of floor space inside if that's what you are after.

One of my two favourite pubs in the area. They have a good selection of tasty beers and decent Thai food. All said a nice place to spend a couple of hours in the day and gets a bit more lively after hours.

Great pub, short selection of ales but alot of other beer options available. Price of beer is reasonable but £4 for a lemonade is a bit steep. Service was kind and friendly. A very nice and spacious. With an island for a bar and a pretty cool garden area

It started off badly and din't improve. It should have rung a loud warning bell that we had to pay for our food before it arrived. Our drinks took twenty minutes to appear. Our table was dirty and there was detritus under it - including cutlery - from previous diners. No one had bothered to clean up. With obvious reluctance, the waiter wiped our table when requested, but succeeded in distributing the food waste onto our laps. The clothes the staff were wearing was grubby and stained. Our roasts were almost completely inedible - Yorkshire puddings to rival concrete, roast potatoes that had been cooked until it was impossible to cut through them. The remainder of the veg was soggy. How is it possible to cook so badly in a commercial enterprise? Our waitress told us that table service would end at 8 o'clock as the pub was short staffed and she had already worked way beyond her shift. Poor management from the top has tainted the entire dining operation. Our wine was properly chilled - we should have stuck with that.

Good spot for a casual drink and catch up with friends. Outside seating is perfect in the evening as gets lot of sunshine (though admittedly a little noisy as next to the main road, but you don't really notice it once you get chatting). Staff were kind enough to get a bowl of water for our dog. Great selection of drinks - would happily visit again :)

Student pub vibe... it's alright

Nice pub, music was a bit loud for some older ears! Good selection of beers on tap. Food menu is interesting but didn't eat. Great interior, the lamps made from beer kegs especially!

It was fairly busy. Very loud indoors but there's a large garden which was much more comfortable for conversation. It was quite expensive. Overall it was an okay time spent there.

Having somehow been blocked from posting via UberEats, I have turned to TripAdvisor to warn others to proceed with caution if ordering delivery from this pub via a delivery app. I can't comment on the roast service in-house but the Deliveroastie version we received this Sunday (26 Feb 2023) was inedible. It was also late, so Uber Eats automatically refunded us £15, which meant that my ensuing messages informing them of the cold coagulated cauliflower cheese, slimy beef, rock-solid dry pork, stale reheated (how many times??) potatoes and brick-like Yorkshire were promptly ignored. I was then blocked from posting any sort of review. Perhaps that's why the delivery roasts are rated 4.7 on UberEats, if anyone posting a complaint to the the restaurant is then barred from reviewing? If this was a bad day for the kitchen then sorry if this seems harsh, but I am genuinely cross that any chef or restaurant worth their salt thinks it's OK to send out an order like the one we received... especially at the price we paid: just shy of £50 for two roasts and two sides. I can't imagine any chef or kitchen daring to serve food this dire to anyone who they would then actually have to look in the eye.... We ordered after 3pm so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but to be honest, if a restaurant is happy to take £50 for two meals they should be delivering edible food whatever time of day it is. Really shameful to be honest and not cool at all.

The first time I had food at the local pub, it was a mistake not eating there sooner! Fast service, great food and an even greater atmosphere.

I was surprised to see the Amsterdam so empty considering it’s a Sunday and we’ve been here before when it’s been rammed. That said we had a really lovely roast, mine pork and my wife’s roast turkey, the only reason I haven’t given it a 5 rating was because it still took 30 minutes plus for our meals to arrive and there was only one other table where we were sat, it was pretty empty. Bar staff friendly as was our waitress...all in all a very pleasant meal and fairly inexpensive. We will return.

Group of 14 of us ate a late Sunday lunch, they seated us altogether, fed and watered us nicely and treated us well, all in all a good job by the team at the Amsterdam.

Music sometimes skipped tracks part way through a song, and would fluctuate wildly in volume (not as a DJ effect). At one point the staff member serving us even had to put his fingers in his ears! Food was lovely, and staff were polite.

Nice big pub, pity its a bit empty but ant they all. Tired the Thai starters ok nice , pork dumplings slightly cold, but hey cant be arsed to send them back. Staff very nice and service very good. Been here a few times. Maybe some live bands might bring in , some more punters ? 🎸😎🎸

Nice beer garden with private and heated spaces, relatively good selection of craft beers, spacious in general, great for pre or post cinema beers, with larger groups or just on your own.

Good atmosphere, we were in a private hire room upstairs for a birthday and was a good spot for the nights celebrations

Came here for my friend's 40th birthday. Lovely venue upstairs. Lots of drinks unavailable upstairs so had to keep going downstairs to buy them.

Sweet lord of Sunday.. Genuinely one of the best beef roasts I've had in years. It took a while to turn up on a busy Sunday,(to be expected) but it was well worth the wait... And the weight!! A huge portion, perfect crispy roasties, great big slices of beef, green beans and veg and a big Yorkshire pud too. Awesome braised red cabbage and a surprise breadcrumbed parsnip to top it off. Do it!

Lots of ales, really friendly staff, lovely outside area, and fantastic food. Outside of normal peak times you can nearly always get a seat. Music is usually pretty good, but is very loud at the weekend - great if that's what you're after, but not so much if you want a quiet drink, or conversation!

Nice pub, service OK and offers food

Haven't been in here on a social one for years, but I was in the area and wanted to get some lunch, the Thai green curry was very tasty and well presented, £13 with a pint and a starter, friendly bar staff, can't go wrong!

Awful customer service. My partner ordered a drink, was given the wrong drink, told the bar tender who told her she’d have to pay for another as the bottle had already been opened, apparently that’s policy and they had to impress the “big bosses” … after a lot of fuss, debating, texts to her manager … about half an hour later she was eventually given the bottle of beer she’d ordered but only after the patronising bartender had said her piece to us. Half decent roast but we won’t be rushing back.

Studenty pub but nice and spacious, they were help about finding me a vegan beer. I stuck a deal with a nutritionalist in the garden which I then for over some playing cards that were dairy themed. I think they should let the cage door slam so hard but small sorbets for a lovely night. 🩳

Came in for a quick bite before an industry event and all the bloody flavours on their lunch menu were incredible. Massaman curry: delicious. Thai green curry: delicious. Kee mao fried rice: delicious. Friendly barstaff and servers, good pint of stout, great garden area. Would highly recommend.

Great place, superb food. The chef was an absolute hero. Down on staff and a broken oven, still came up with a mountain of food that tasted the best. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Had the roast pork belly today. Meat cooked very well and melted in the mouth. Nice selection of veg with the braised red cabbage being delicious and parsnip wrapped in stuffing lovely. Gravy to die for. Not 5 starts because Broccoli was very under done and the crackling on my belly was not crackling it was flabby and when I specifically ordered the belly for the crackling was very disappointed
